This IS an idea I have actually spent a LOT of time trying to turn into a bigger story. It's one of the main things ab out my transition that's NOT been covered in the strip, and that's mostly because I've been struggling to make a more "important" story out of it. When I came out, I knew I wanted a name that started with a "D". It's just a thing with me. And I also wanted to keep my signature, which has always been "D. Fish". Plus, as stated in the strip itself, most of my friends over the years have reduced my old name down to the letter "D" anyway, so it felt really comfortable and natural. That said, my thoughts on the aforementioned "old names" are a topic for another strip. Next weeks, in fact.

The Colours of Pride
