and the fact that tarn is so young compared to shockwave… the fact that the senator had taken him in and almost “mentored” him. the fact that shockwave was the one who taught him “how to play chess” and is now on the other end… UGH I WILL MAKE THEM INTERACT SO MUCH IN TFD I SWEAR TO GOD

i finished the first chapter of tfd!!!

“what’s tfd?” some might ask… so here’s a quick recap:

“transformers division” is my resume for hasbro o7 and is basically a tv show in fanfiction form

it revolves around post-war decepticons and how they will handle the impeding cold war between them and the autobots and the daunting horror of signing the peace treaty

tone will mostly be like quentin tarantino (there’s no set tone) and will be geared towards a more mature audience

media inspirations: all quiet on the western front, gundam, pulp fiction, transformers idw, inglorious basterds, bayverse transformers, and tfp

what we’re gonna get in chapter 1:

lots of post-war drama, esp drama that occurs one or two cycles after its end

starscream’s “true name”

starscream and soundwave, starscream and shockwave dynamics (soundwave and shockwave will come later dw! ;))

intrigue as to how and why the war ended

a more psychological exploration of the decepticon high command in comparison to other transformers tv shows

a big joocy cliffhanger

it’ll be posted on ao3 under the “transformers — all media types” and “transformers: idw” fandom because the designs will mostly be inspired by idw (easier recognition) when i’m 100% done editing it

approximate word count: <6000 words

Tarn memory loss AU (head injury -> memory reverts to pre-empurata Damus). While I do love the idea of an innocent, naive, can-do-no-wrong Damus, what if I headcanon him as a little freak?

The DJD horrifies him, but there is something else... a note of joy... and that horrifies him much, much more.

I calculated the heights of the DJD

Thanks to this post I was able to get a generally accurate height comparison approved by Alex Milne, the artist for MTMTE. This is that image:

I found the best image that shows Megatron and Tarn together and generally on the same X plane.

According to the TFwiki for IDW Megatron is 38'... so. I throw all these into Procreate to start the process...

Here, I just put in the first picture, nothing special.

Then, I scale the comic panel to match Tarn's head size and height, as close as I can. I lower the opacity of the image and add Megs, using that comic panel to size him right.

Next:

I add a ruler measuring at 38'ft (I actually used inches to keep the distances equal when adding other lines, wo it's not 100% accurate). I kept in mind that the edge of the image is not the plane they are standing on.

Then, I add the lines and numbers, and get Megs out of there before he gets killed. Using the numbers and lines, I get their heights. So here's my results:

Vos: 27.25ft

Kaon: 32.5ft

Tarn: 36.5ft

Helex: 50ft

Tesarus: 51ft

You can round up or down if it makes things easier in your writings! Hope this helps with your drawings.

Hey how funny would it be if in IDW, before Megatron did his whole surrender thing, he just straight up erased the DJD's List. Like Tarn wakes up one day and it's just completely empty. He snacks the datapad a few times, tries to check another one, and is absolutely going nuts that he can't reach it. And when he comme Megatron for the umptillionth time, Megs just says "You've helped the Decepticon cause so much, Tarn, and served me well. You and your team have been elected for broader horizons, and so I bestow upon you a new path." All the fancy sugarcoating shit.
