There's no in-world rationale for who turns into what. Instead I exercise my authorial privileges because this is still my "don't overthink it" setting. But I think for genetic lineages, it's more likely that your kids will have the same or a closely related canid form, hence Allison's family all having Canis forms. At some point I'll probably think of more lore surrounding this form of magic and I might tweak things a bit, but unless I find a really compelling reason to change it I'm going to stick to having them transform into fully canid forms (while mostly keeping their human-form brainpower).

I also think it's important to note that Sierra, known to be the most humorless person, cannot contain herself about Ian's raccoon dog form. She has long since decided it is the cutest thing she will ever see. This isn't why she married him but it's a bigger factor than she would like to admit.

Mythology & Its Connection with IDV

I recently got the time to check Ashes of Memory and was astonished by the number of mythology referenced just in the story mode! As usual, I'll list the connected references instead of delving into the deeper meaning, leaving that to the theorists out there.

First, let's look at the names introduced in the Potion List during Miss DeRoss investigations; Orpheus, Siren Song, Mnemosyne & Hydra are the listed names for each drug alongside their ingredients.

Orpheus is the protagonist of "Orpheus & Eurydice." In the story, the musician travels to the depths of Hell to retrieve his wife, Eurydice, only to fail one of Hades' tests for her freedom. Sirens are human-like creatures with alluring voices. They appear in the Odyssey, where they hunt Odysseus' ship crew before the protagonist saves the ship. Mnemosyne is the goddess of memory and remembrance. She is a member of the Titans and the mother of the muses. The Hydra is a serpentine monster famous for its appearances in the story of Heracles and his Twelve Labors, where it is eventually buried alive by rocks.

Now let's look at the skin/cosmetics available for each member of AOM. (As I can't do all characters in one post, there are too many) Neat-ease hides small references to the character's background in the skins or objects given in each essence.

The following names that shine among the rest are: Phyllis (Entomologist), Pandora (Little Girl) & The Orphan Of Goetia (Prospector.)

The legend of Phyllis recounts the tragic tale of her taking her own life in anguish upon discovering that Demophon, who had been transformed into an almond tree by the gods, would not return to her.

Pandora is mostly famous for opening the jar ( or box, in later renditions of the myth) unleashing the greatest evil of humankind. Leaving only hope as the last thing remaining.

Now, the last one is quite peculiar. The "Goetia" is not from Greek Mythology; instead, it is from Satanism. They're explained in the first of the five sections of the Ars Goetia grimoire, which contains descriptions of the 72 demons that are said to have been summoned by Solomon

Unfortunately, the text never specified which demon the skin references. I hypothesize that it could be Asmodeus, Aim, Caim, or Aamon due to the fire and bird connections.

I got some ninpo ideas for 2012 TMNT. I think they'll be amazing to have aome elemental type powers.

Leonardo: Wind. He can run fast, and even shifts into the wind. His special attack is a speedy wind and slash attack. Think of the sickle weasle from Japanese folklore. That's Leonardo.

Raphael: Fire. He can gather the energy, charging up his attacks until be wants to release it all into a big blast. Kinda like Black Panther's suit but with a lot of flashy fire blasts.

Donatello: Earth. By using the ground around him, he can transform the earth into whatever construct he wants, with circuit like lines around the construct that symbolises his control over them. Golem, guns, anything he puts his mind into.

Michelangelo: Lightning. Can't forget lightning Mikey! He has electrical powers that he can use to attack. It works best as an added punch to his nunchucks, but he can can lightning on enemies.

Now... I just need ninpo ideas for the 2003 and 1987 turtles....

I've been thinking about AoM (ashes of memory) again lately and there's one thing a lot of people simply didn't talk about which made me go

so! after frederick threatens alice and orpheus with his gun, he runs away (we never actually see him leave tho) but then shortly afterwards mary shows up. (she's most likely a drug induced hallucination just like all the hunters in the game except maybe for dw/the feaster) after getting chased for a while, alice manages to escape, get to the exit gate and then seemingly gets drugged again (?) but in this moment mary changes into this silhouette

now, I'm no expert but this silhouette is very different from mary's and doesn't really look like a women's silhouette either so who could this possibly be ?

it can't be the novelist because both him and mary have been in the same place before but it also can't be the prospector since at this point he has yet to arrive at the manor and the silhouette isn't wearing a hat.

which makes me think that this might actually be frederick and that would mean mary is frederick's identity switch (make it real netease) maybe when frederick was trying to leave the racecourse he also got drugged and "transformed" into the hunter of this makeshift match, it would make sense since we know that the people who prepare the matches have all kinds of drugs at their disposal ヾ( ￣O￣)ツ

this stuff has been on my mind ever since chapter 2 came out and it's only speculation/theory crafting so don't take anything I said seriously, it's honestly just the ramblings of a weirdo ;;

p.s = plus mary and frederick's basic designs are also pretty similar just like (almost) all the other current identity switches we got (see evil reptilian - luchino or fool's gold - norton)

Can't wait for whatever big Aesthetic Changes happen to the rest of Bells Hells and also can't wait for the Big Reunion Scene bc sure everyone else got aome cool upgrades or some sick new threads but FCG straight up had a Magical Girl Transformation. Fully Gold Plated now, not just rusted yellow paint. Got themselves a Cool Robot Person all their own and a brand new name and a shiny new chassis and a coat and maybe even some Legs. Like goddamn Letters had a whole ass cinderella makeover and has a Significant Other.

Can't wait for the sun to glint off their shiny new chassis as the Hells reunite on some battlefield somewhere.

Happy STS! Imagine that your characters are forced to take part in the Hunger Games. Who is the most likely to win? Who falls first? Who attracts the biggest number of sponsors and how?

you: [interesting question] me: 🥺 they have to hurt each other??? 😭 me: [immediately gets way into searching to remind myself how the Hunger Games went so I can analyze how this would go]

Imagining that they were somehow simultaneously from my setting and the setting of the Hunger Games (i.e. this wouldn't be completely out of the ordinary for them) here's how I think it would go:

(throwing a cut in here because I got unintentionally long-winded and also obviously a lot of people dying)

For Nicea, Tatya is in a unique position to win because she is not only physically capable of killing people but she is a warp witch and a shifter, so anyone she can't take down in direct combat or by trapping them, she can take down by popping into a warp, which will kill them within a few seconds. If the rules were adjusted so that voluntary magic was not allowed, she still would have the slight advantage of being able to transform into a wolf - assuming the length of the Hunger Games intersected a full moon on her home planet of Basenaum. But let's say it does, because that's fun. If she was pitted against Isabel (who would be from a different district), she would have a very hard time killing her. Depending on how messed up she's gotten over the course of racking up the highest body count in the current Games, she'll either choose to go honorable hand to hand combat to the death (she still wins, most likely, and it hurts) or to ambush her in wolf form after surrendering as much as possible to her wolf brain. However, if Tatya wasn't in the Games, the most likely winner would be Tristan (nimble, solid) or Isabel (gonna fuck you up no matter what). Or Tristan's mentor Von (good at doing what needs to be done), if he were younger and could still make the Cornucopia run.

Who falls first is hard to say. A lot of Nicea people would immediately scatter rather than take their chances with the Cornucopia, which would make it easy pickings for the ones who do. Rodney has a massive target on his back once people figure out that Isabel is a favorite. Cady and Declan are both relatively easy targets to begin with (but they are also sponsor favorites because they're extremely cute). But if Christina is in the mix, she is definitely the first one to fall, either by self-warping (if that's not against the rules) or letting herself get killed in the rush. She would rather die than have to kill anyone.

As for sponsors, aside from Cady and Declan, Tatya does pretty well with her easy charm and the promise that she will transform into a wolf. Spinder's got a couple that he's certain are sending him stuff out of pity, but he uses it anyway. Isabel gets sponsors based on her charisma and the dramatic "I'm gonna protect my brother" angle, but they only really double down after Rodney dies and she goes rage mode.

For AOM we have to pretend that there are a lot less family relationships at play, at which point the two most likely victors are (young) Edith (fearless, definitely succeeded at the Cornucopia run) or Celia (unpredictable, tough because dragon). Graham expects to have a better chance through trapping than he does. But Donovan probably falls first because he fully believes he can rush the Cornucopia successfully and he gets sniped on the way. The sponsors are most interesting, though. They sign up for Leon and Edith as a tag team, but one way or another Leon dies first and they're instead trying to egg Edith on in the poetic justice of taking down the rest of the competitors with his weapon of choice: a sword. They also love Horatio, though at first they thought he was going to be a naive first kill, because he has an expert knowledge of plants and a shocking success rate with poisoning people (thanks to his ally Sorian, who is a decent sharpshooter). Nobody likes Avis out of the arena either, for reasons of she is bitter and awful, but she is a good sniper and she has managed to keep herself and Sid alive so far, so they're slowly sending her more stuff. Surprisingly they don't like Celia that much, even though she's kind of the tank of the bunch, because she's not Interesting in the right way (too horny. this is a death game, woman).

Storyboard/Animatic making.

i used the 3d model to draw a background and put that into my storyboard and drew my character, i haven’t added arrows or numbers or notes just yet but i will add the dialogue underneath so it makes sense, i want this scene to start with the character walking up to zeus, i have changed the camera angle because it will be easier to see the body movements from this angle because i’m not going to focus on facial expression. Once i’ve written the dialogue and any direction i will start on the animatic in toon boom. These were drawn in procreate on my iPad and then taken into photoshop for the layout.

here ive added aome arrows to show the movement of the character, i still want to take a video reference because it is hard to see, at this stage atleast, how the character is reacting, i could use the video reference to help with blocking too. i have also added the zap from zeus in and changed the character at the end to look like he has been transformed into a half boar half human. i will add dialogue and sound effects after i get my wacom to work with my mac 😡
