Y’all don’t even understand, I have a NEED for transfem Vader.
Transfem Anakin is also very fun and I’ll always enjoy it, but it hits different post-Mustafar.
It hits different when it’s an Anakin who expressed their gender in subtle but affirming ways, who would get the prettiest clothes from their fashionista wife, who loved their pretty long hair and enjoyed caring for it, who had a soft and lilting voice, is trapped in a hypermasculine suit, stripped of their human appearance, and given a very deep and booming mechanical voice.
It hits different when she doesn’t bother to express her gender anymore, when everyone around them either perceives them as a man or a droid, when Palpatine rubs her new agonizing existence in their face. Because Palpatine had always encouraged Anakin to express themself however they wanted (he may be a pos but he was a pos with a goal) and would sometimes gift them jewelry/accessories. And he still does this, but he exclusively gifts them hyperfeminine accessories that they no longer feel comfortable wearing or keeping, even if they could. He uses her identity against her constantly and they just numbed themself further to the point of apathy in the hopes that he drops it.
They hate looking at themself in general, but they especially hate looking at themself without the suit. All the euphoric aspects of herself that she loved were either twisted or gone. The hair, the tan, the voice, the lean yet strong musculature (decades of carrying around hundreds of pounds of extra weight really bulked them up), hell, even their eyes.
There was one time when she decided to put on the rose gold heart necklace Palpatine gifted her after a successful mission. They put it on when out of the suit, and it made them a little happy before their self hatred came back ten fold and they never did that again.
While Anakin was fairly subtle about their gender expression, they were still openly trans, so Obi-Wan knew (although they were only comfortable sharing her use of she/her pronouns with Padme. Everyone else just knew they used they/them. Palpatine knew about her use of she/her bc he’s a pos who invaded her privacy constantly).
Owen and Beru were vaguely aware that she was trans (Obi-Wan did correct their pronoun use) but not necessarily enough to really explain it well to Luke beyond “your father was trans and used they/them pronouns, idk the specifics”. So Luke knew the basics, but it never went beyond that. He’d alternate between parent and father, but tended to default to father if only because he wasn’t told about Anakin’s gender identity until he was in his teens. (There was no particular reason for this, they just generally didn’t talk about Anakin. It’s not like anyone in Luke’s daily life knew them. And the Lars’s use of “they” went unnoticed by Luke until much later)
So when Obi-Wan told Luke about Anakin, Luke was able to ask someone who knew them more about them. As Obi-Wan didn’t have the full picture, Luke only really learned a few more details, and he was initially more interested in her life as a Jedi than anything else, really. Can’t really blame him there, he was under the impression that he’d have more time to learn about Anakin from a primary source and who cares about gender when you can have a lightsaber!
Anyway, my mind keeps going to a Vader lives au where Luke and Anakin grow closer, Luke helps Anakin ditch the suit, and as Anakin grows used to being out of it, they end up growing angsty. Luke already told Anakin he’s aware of their trans identity, but Anakin hasn’t shared everything. They aren’t comfortable going by she/her anymore (not yet) and as they slowly get healthier (the sun livening up their skin, their prosthetics replaced with better models, surgeries allowing for more independent breathing, therapy) the more upset they get about their hair not growing back.
They’re more so upset that they’re upset. After everything, they’re losing their cool about being bald?! But the visible progress got their hopes up, they’re relationship with Luke got them to start expressing themself more, and their hair was one of their most favorite things about themself. It starts getting to them and they begin to perceive it as a punishment. Of course they shouldn’t get to grow their hair back, they were Darth MF Vader for over 2 decades! Why should they have hair?!
Luke notices their distress and doesn’t know what to do (he tried asking them but Anakin isn’t there yet, they aren’t ready to tell him). He dreams, and Padme comes to him in those dreams to communicate the problem. Well, not everything, just that they are distressed about their hair refusing to grow back. Or maybe instead of that, Luke manages to unlock this information from Anakin’s tragic backstory. This option takes much longer.
Anyway, unsure of how to solve this, he goes to Leia as she’s the resident hair expert. She and Anakin aren’t close, she tolerates their existence and they mourn what could have been. They don’t speak to each other more than necessary. Regardless, Leia is a compassionate person and she can see the toll it takes on Luke and Anakin. She feels nothing positive towards Anakin, but her disdain won’t interfere with her morals so she helps.
She suggests Luke buy them a wig, so they enlist the help of R2 (they know R2 was once close to Anakin) and get Anakin a very high quality wig that they can style however they want. Anakin doesn’t know what to do. At first they refuse it (punishment, remember?) but Luke manages to eventually convince them to at least try it on. He guilts them by using his concern for their well-being.
The wig breaks something in them, the last trace of the walls they built over 2 decades come crashing down. They feel a wave of euphoria and despair, glee and misery, gratitude and guilt. They’re feeling all over the place but they can’t stop staring at their reflection. It’s so obviously different than it was when they were 22, yet it was one of the best things they’d ever seen. They felt like they had themself back, standing there wearing the beautiful wig, their children further back watching them, nothing but support on their faces.
Anakin retreats for a bit after that. They make sure to tell Luke they’re okay, they just need some alone time. Once they re-emerge, Anakin is finally able to tell Luke she also uses she/her pronouns and identifies as transfem. Luke supports her 100% and is aggressively supportive when she gradually starts wearing more feminine clothing out and about (he’s aggressively supportive of her presence among the rebels regardless, but this is different). It’s not that he’s worried people will be transphobic towards them, exactly, but he’s hyper aware of how people see Anakin and doesn’t want to see her stop being herself because she perceived something as a slight against her (and, alternatively, he doesn’t want her to scare/threaten people when their current status amongst the rebels/new republic is so fragile).
I don’t know what it is but transfem Vader/Anakin just hits different from transmasc and I need it.

actually always thinking of darth vader through a transgender lense bc i’m insane but also bc it is SO EASY to do a trans reading of his whole deal like to me, personally, in the star wars in my brain that is better than yours and doesn’t gaf about authorial intent, darth vader is in part a manifestation/personification of the horrifying feelings of loss of control that come with long-term repression/closeting or forced detransition. and this works on a purely superficial level because darth vader is hypermasculine in a way that starkly contrasts a lot of anakin’s softer/more androgynous traits but if we are to actually think beyond the superficial the themes of loss of autonomy and rejection of personal identity in favor of one given to you are veryyyy resonant from a trans perspective. constant insistent rejection of your true self. “that name no longer has any meaning to me.” even his voice is not his own. etc etc. vader is a reinvention of anakin but that reinvention is into an empty husk whose entire existence is to be another person’s pawn. vader is not so much a new identity as he is a lack of one. and i don’t want to dismiss that on a literal textual level disability is a part of the Body aspect but all this is far less about his injuries and part more about how they’re treated, specifically how his body is altered in ways that are entirely about creating a more imposing image and basically turning him into a weapon (there is no reason for him to be 6’7), and that again ties into the idea of Erosion Of Self. and i think these aspects come together in a way that is so easy to read as trans, or at least that resonates with me as a trans person, because so much of repressing as a trans person is inventing an empty version of yourself and accepting your physical state as something you are fundamentally not in control of and self-denial for others. and vader encompasses a lot of those feelings taken to body horror space opera extremes

Realistically speaking my voice isn't that deep but gender dysphoria says it's sounds like if Darth Vader was the love child of Batman and Wolverine. I feel like Rick Astley with the whole "deep voice twink body"

ANAKIN SKYWALKER/DARTH VADER from STAR WARS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JUSTIFICATIONS:
"Darth Vader as a representation of masculinity that Anakin rejects when she realizes how it's harming everyone" - Anonymous
"Every transgirl has wanted to wear a mask that vocodes your voice and wear a swooshy black cape and have telekinetic powers. Darth Vader went through so much and the only reason they made her a man in canon was because Padme and Transfem!Vader would've destroyed the galaxy with no effort on their part. Darth Vader is just gender and I want to wrap her in a burrito with her own cape" - Anonymous

Transfem Ahsoka rehearsing her introduction to Anakin before landing on Christophsis, hoping that both human Generals Kenobi and Skywalker wouldn't recognize Togruta gender differences to notice. And they don't, because Anakin is too busy fighting a battle and also denying that he asked for a Padawan in the first place.

being both a clone and anakin skywalker is so weird, especially when i’m reading the older comics, because i’m convinced that i still had faint memories of my clone life as anakin. yeah, i worked with alpha-17. no, i didn’t just call him “alpha” — there were literally a hundred alpha-class clones. and i certainly didn’t “name” him — names are highly personal to clones, and a nickname is one thing (personally, i called him sev, since i didn’t know the guy who strictly went by sev) but i’m not his fucking dad, and he was a grown man. i didn’t have the right to assign him a name! nobody did but his siblings! and i felt very strongly about it, even back then.
similarly, the fact that in a more recent book, i (cisgender) apparently told a transfem clone that she was “transcending gender” because the term “transgender” hadn’t been coined yet is just. stop it. put the pen down. to think that the concept hadn’t even been invented yet is just. we had fully functional biomechanical prostheses and miracle goo containing healing nanotechnology, but nowhere in the galaxy had there ever been a trans person? i would laugh if this hadn’t been made canon. (not to mention the fact that she was given the incredibly creative name of… “sister.” come on, man. as if she was the first clone to get into the gender juice.)
where was my point with this. i swear i had a point… whatever let’s just say the point was To Complain 💖

I had a big introduction post for Voices of the Force, but keeping it up to date with the specifics of my constantly evolving ideas for this proved to be more trouble than it was worth, so I'm just gonna pin the original inspiration and list some of the highlights that have developed as I've been reading the relevant books and generally thinking things through:
It's actually relativistic time travel via hyperdrive accident, the same way Legends did time travel before.
16-year-old Ahsoka joining the New Jedi Order as the first apprentice of Master Jaina Solo, and learning from her and others about being a Jedi, and the similarities and differences between the peacekeepers of her youth and a Jedi Order formed by trial and error in times of war.
StealthX pilot Ahsoka.
At this point in canon, Luke's Jedi are politically independent from the Galactic Alliance government, which seems to be how a lot of people, myself included, think the Jedi achieve their goals best.
They're being funded in that by Tenel Ka as queen of Hapes, which is several cans of worms by itself.
Ahsoka being a disaster lesbian about Vestara Khai, who didn't get her character assassinated, and about Ben Skywalker, who in this timeline is transfem.
Whatever self-consciousness Ahsoka may have felt before about acting like a feral carnivore in front of people vanishes after, like, five minutes around the Barabels.
Continuing FotJ's thread of exploring other Force traditions, including those collected by the Empire of the Hand, which is coming back as a major astropolitical player following the reveal of its survival in late FotJ.
It'll be revealed eventually that Darth Caedus was an evil clone, and that the real Jacen Solo is still alive, and everyone has to work through the staggering amount of bullshit Caedus produced just by existing.
Lots of Jedi as Found Family feels, especially in regards to what it means for Jaina, who in-character would never have bio kids, to teach a Jedi apprentice.
The Empire of the Hand being set up as a foil for the Galactic Alliance, because they fundamentally exist for the same reason, and that informs some of the bullshit space politics with Galactic Alliance Chief of State Wynn Dorvan and Supreme Commander Gavin Darklighter, among others.
Minor characters given major roles, most of all Fala, the girl who found out she was Force-sensitive because Abeloth turned her mind into a dark side nexus.
Ahsoka and Tahiri Veila pointedly not being defined by their relationships to dead people named Anakin.
Mara Jade is still alive.
If you'd like to know more, I have a tag.
Consider the following points:
In TCW Season 3, Ahsoka had the Daughter's life essence shoved into her to bring her back to life on Mortis. And then TCW doesn't do much of anything after that with the fact that Ahsoka literally has a piece of a Force goddess inside her.
65 in-universe years later, Fate of the Jedi leaves off Abeloth as summarily having been taken out of the picture for now, but they all know she's technically still alive, and Luke's Jedi are looking for the Dagger of Mortis because it's the only thing they know of that can permakill a Force god.
I speculate that the writers were planning to use the Daughter's essence as a point of relevance to pull Legends Ahsoka out of whatever stasis she must have been in for the last six to seven decades and have her be the one to permakill Abeloth by unlocking the power in the Daughter's essence and becoming a Force goddess herself.

Padme: Overdressed transfem wife who takes 4 hours to choose an outfit and get ready. Everything she owns is fashion over function, but she makes it work
Anakin: underdressed transmasc husband who wears whatever smells the cleanest and owns 4 versions of the same outfit. Trying their best to dress nice, there’s a war and they’re a monk cut them some slack

i’ve been writing star wars fic again bc this shit is a disease in case u can’t tell and i have become kind of obsessed with trying to delve into and rework sabé and anakin’s whole deal bc i am kind of obsessed with their limited interactions in queen’s hope but it left me hungry for More because i feel like there is potential for some real crazy shit under the surface. like they’re two different kinds of attack dog. they’re in a fight no one asked them to be in. and like sabé’s resentment towards anakin is for Obvious Reasons but if you really wanna get into anakin’s resentment towards sabé it’s kind of a feast…there is something so intimate about knowing someone well enough to become them. i think anakin is jealous of that. i think on some level he wants that. he and padmé love each other with such intensity that their identities kind of blur into each other but there are people who can Become Padmé and he is not one of them and i think I THINK that has the potential to drive him crazy if he thinks about it too long. and on that level i think sabé makes him lose his mind by existing

Whenever someone makes a joke along the lines of "Why does (enter black actor here) only play black characters?" I instantly think of a scene in the movie Fritz The Cat (1972) where a dog girl says "Why does a great actor like James Earl Jones always have to play BLACK men?"
Which is ironic because five years later James Earl Jones would do the voice for Darth Vader who is canonically white.

I want to try and start writing fics again! However, I don't know where to start, So-
My requests are currently open, I'm comfortable writing fluff, smut, AUs, some lighter dark! or dubcon fics, and other prompts as well, that's just all I can think of for now.
I will also write for F!reader, GN!reader, transmasc/transmale!reader, and enby!reader.
I won't write for CisM!Reader or Transfem/TransW!reader just because I don't feel that I can accurately write that based on not having lived those experiences.
Characters/ppl I will write for:
Formula One Drivers-
Dani Ric
Mick Schumacher
Charles Leclerc
Pierre Gasly
Lewis Hamilton
Lando Norris
George Russell
Ask for others!
Marvel-
