i respect trans people of the opposite gender and support the community, but i can't imagine having a romantic attraction to them.
i tell myself, and I'm 99.9% sure I believe, that those individuals are truly [that gender]. But somewhere in my brain just goes "nope. no attraction today" .
assuming that i actually am attracted to [aforementioned gender],
is that transphobic?
Hi, friend
So I will be honest with you and give two sides of this perspective
Personal feelings:
As a gay, trans man this is something that Iā€™ve struggled with in the past. The idea that gay men wonā€™t see me as a ā€˜real manā€™ and that bi men will see me as a ā€˜two for one dealā€™(or something like that). Itā€™s something that Iā€™ve internalized that Iā€™m working on. Itā€™s not helped by the fact that Iā€™ve never dated anyone. This makes me feel othered. ā€œNot man enough for the gay men, but a dream for the bi menā€.
Outside perspective:
It is one hundred percent, perfectly, *perfectly* fine to not find a trans person attractive. People have the right to have genital preferences. People have the right to date who they want to date. Especially if the person is queer. Iā€™m sure there are lesbians that would only date cis women and ,like I said, there are gay men that would only date cis men. And straight people, as long as theyā€™re allies, deserve this same respect. Or bi people. Or pan people. Or however else someone were to identify. I donā€™t think this makes someone a bad person, truly. Thereā€™s almost a pushback, or rather there is, of people who say they wouldnā€™t date a trans person. But that doesnā€™t inherently ļæ¼make that person transphobic.
Third thing, as for what youā€™ve said here:
You said that youā€™re an ally. That you respect the trans community. That you see us as the gender we identify with. How could that be transphobic? Your support is what we need. If you feel like you couldnā€™t be attracted to a trans person, you wouldnā€™t want to date a trans person, or you wouldnā€™t want to sleep with a trans person thatā€™s one hundred percent okay. Like I said, this doesnā€™t make you transphobic. Thereā€™s actually people who are t4t, trans people who would only date trans people. And if cis people canā€™t have this same right itā€™s honestly hypocritical. So no, this doesnā€™t make you transphobic, in my opinion.

My last post was being snarky but here's my genuine pronoun etiquette opinion in case you actually want to know: it's pretty much never a good idea to directly ask someone their pronouns in front of a group of people, especially if you're in a position of authority, i.e. a teacher. The stakes of this question are very high for some people and you are putting them on the spot to decide what they want to share and what is safe to share. If you have decided you want to ask for pronouns at all, you can introduce yourself with your own to remind people that they can share theirs if they want to. And for the love of god whatever you do please do not just single out the most gender non-conforming or "trans looking" (to you) person and ask only them and no one else

I have to be honest, when people are objectively into plus sized bodies it turns me on, and Iā€™m not sorry.
I donā€™t want to have sex where we tiptoe around the fact that Iā€™m fat, I actually want my body to be touched on and groped and worshiped during sex and if someone gonna be weird about it, Iā€™m not going to enjoy myself. I want someone to grab and kiss and mark on my belly the way they would any person no matter the size, as for the rest of me. Iā€™m deserving of that type of sex, and to shame people who want to give me that type of sex just kinda feels weird and fatphobic.
The way that people treat any sort of attraction to fat bodies as fetishization and chasing just frustrates me to no end, sometimes people just are attracted to fat people and know how to love on us the way other people are loved up on.

any time a transfem audience takes interest in a character, there is an immediate backlash to any transfeminine interpretations of that character. Suddenly it becomes popular to interpret them as trans in literally any other way than transfem.
while it's not *uncommon* to see an audience call a character an agender any pronouns genderfuck, you see it a lot more the second someone goes "but what if she was a girl"

so, this is something i've noticed in fandom spaces and want to see how people ~generally~ feel regarding genderbends & genderswaps, especially if they are transgender themselves!
if there's a reason for why you like/dislike genderbends please share in the tags, this is something that genuinely interests me

Lesbian subreddits with "trans inclusive" in the rules when a trans woman makes a post: "uh well this isn't about our unique AFAB experience so maybe go back to the trans subreddit"

transfem fags and transmasc dykes aren't hurting you, you're just clinging to respectability politics when it's a convenient tool to push away people that make you uncomfortable. and yes, not even the binary trans folks who don't "make sense" to you are hurting you. instead of telling them to fix their identities, fix your reactionary disgust.

I don't care if somebody was "born a man" or "born a woman"
We were fucking born as babies, I frankly don't care what you were "born to be," so long as you are happy in the here and now. That's what matters more, not this bioessentialist "you're born this way, and nothing you do or say matters more than how you were born"
