I've been rewatching some of the episodes and im still wishy washy on whether or not I want to redesign all the characters but here's some recent and old character sketches!! I've been playing around with their designs but trying not to deviate too far so that the characters still look like who they're supposed to be

Idk if anyone would wanna see me redesign/rework every character but I'd post em if there were people who wanted to see that.

Here's the rundown for those who are interested:

My basic ideas for fairy tail are to make every character a fantasy trope/creature/class/myth. Some of the characters will change into a different thing over time as they gain experience. I feel like fairy tail has a lot of potential to write a more modern fairy tale type story because of the whole wizards and magic thing. With dragons and princesses n everything. This is obviously present in the story, but i really want to reinforce that idea. there are some characters who I think really fit this, like Erza (obvi main knight of the story but also has the title of titania queen of the fairies) and natsu (obviously dragon as an mc, sort of a role reversal of the evil dragon. and maybe a fun demonic plot twist haha). But with other characters i may need to make more changes. Lucy is a loose version of the princess (with a fun runaway backstory), but I want her to evolve into a priestess. Grey kinda has nothing going on for him imo, the ice wizard thing keeps throwing me off every time i try to project something onto him. I think i'll go with a hunter -> demon slayer thing. He just happens to use ice magic. i don't wanna go with regular wizard because thats a bit boring lmao. It would also make the elemental thing between natsu and grey funnier bcuz he's a spooky demon and that guys a hunter so you guys REALLY shouldnt get along. They do anyway because the power of friendship lol Anyways that's the basic plan? even if i dont post it on tumblr just know its cooking in the back of my head. thx for reading all this haha

The difference between my 1st AU and my 2nd AU

(Spoilers in this)

1st AU is more towards canon. The events go from the beginning of Fairy Tail to the end of the main series. No 100 year quest because, I am no where near there. It focuses on the canon ships (or close canon or mostly looks canon/I ship). This AU has the Next Generation stuff involved. It is what I mostly focus on, anyway.

2nd AU is more towards my bullshit mind. This au has no actual proper direction. I mostly call this 'Trans Mystogan AU' because it does mostly focus on Mystogan (My favourite character). In this AU, I have changed multiple things, including ships.

Mostly the ships are the same. The 1st AU mostly focuses on the Next Generation. The 2nd AU mostly focuses on my ideas.

Here are a few examples of how I change things: Mystogan in the 1st AU goes to Edolas and stays in Edolas, Mystogan in the 2nd AU goes to Edolas and returns back to Earthland.

Laxus in the 1st AU tries to overthrows but gets kicked out of the guild, Laxus in the 2nd AU is stopped by Mystogan before he could even try.

Mystogan in the 1st AU doesn't look for Wendy before the Oracion Seis, Mystogan in the 2nd AU finds Wendy and brings her to the guild.

In the 1st AU, the 7 year gap happens but in the 2nd AU, it doesn't happen. I find the whole trapped in time for 7 years silly and it just confuses me. They do meet Mavis but Acnologia doesn't show up. Instead Acnologia is with Irene as she calms him down.

The war with Zeref happens in the 1st AU, in the 2nd AU, it doesn't. As Zeref knows Natsu never died on Tenrou Island (I probably spelt that wrong), Zeref's mind doesn't head down the direction it does.

In the 1st AU, Crime Sorcere exists and Ultear dies. In the 2nd AU, it doesn't. Mystogan had paid for all their bails before they even got arrested. Mystogan had made a deal with the Council to have them be under Fairy Tail's supervision and make them do their sentence by saving and helping people, people similar to those they hurt in the past. Ultear doesn't die

In the 1st AU, Mystogan doesn't interact with the guild and stays hidden. In the 2nd AU, Mystogan interacts with the guild more but he prefers to be in a place where he can relax (such as the S class floor). Sometimes when he's in the mood, he'll be a complete menace.

out of the big 4 het/canon fairy tail pairings jerza is by Far the worst imo like. he needs to leave her alone i'm so serious and the fact that mashima wrote in a 7 year age gap for no reason is Not helping... erzas ass is NINETEEN the first time jellal makes an open pass at her i don't care that they used to be the same age it is fucking weird. gruvia is a close second though because while yes we objectify men here sir and i live to serve women juvia's creepiness is really just too much like at a certain point it starts to feel really gross and the fact that gray seems to fall for her by the end of the anime/manga just reeks of coercion. not even bringing up how genuinely awful juvia's character writing is she gets like 5 minutes of being interesting before getting instantly reduced to a creepy stan who completely revolves around gray and has less depth than the average bossfight of the week. i guess its equality that erza and mirajane are some of the best characters in this story (which is admittedly a low bar considering half of their personality is being subjected to the most voyeuristic shots possible) so mashima had to balance it out by making juvia one of the worst

tries to make sure he doesnt ruin someone's day/clothes & tries to make the victim have fun too

he does two pranks and thats when people least expect it

ice water dunk or freezing someone for a minute

typically the victim of other pranks though bc he finds it hilarious

she tries to prank but sometimes she cant tell if itll make someone emotional

does do fake break ups and fake proposing and fake deaths until she realizes it really hit someone and then SCRAMBLES to make up for it

takes what anyone says 100% seriously. even though she does fake break ups she will take someone breaking up with her seriously

most likely to throw someone in the pool not as a prank but as retaliation for a prank

most shell do is act like shes spiking a drink and then itll just be like. salt. or mayo. maybe koolaid if she likes them but its a mix of all the koolaid flavors they had in the guild for the kids

most likely to throw a barrel of alcohol if targeted

also most likely to get someone a change of clothes until theirs are dry/comfort someone who got a bit too emotional

way back when she was a teen she didnt care. shed do tar & glitter and break a bottle of nail polish over someones head. many times makarov kicked her out of the guild for the day

before lisanna came back shed do nothing. least likely to get targeted for fear of her teen self and shed not help anyone set up a prank. would give people food and drink for free if they got targeted at all.

after lisanna came back shed still do next to nothing but after alvarez shed go back to her teen ways. except shed master a type of clean up spell/get a clean up ring to quickly get rid of what she did. shed still give them free food for the day.

though when someone tried to get her with a prank she fake cried and everyone Freaked Out and stopped targeting her again

laxus

doesnt show up that day. or for a few days in case someone set up a prank and it wasnt tripped.

he does move everything thats on a lower shelf onto a higher shelf in gramps's house though.

until makarov needed the wheelchair. then hed just put so many stickers on it.

does however go to magnolia and break into grays room to wake him up with dancing ice snowmen
