Hmmmm, interesting questions! I'll answer with some of the characters from Silen Fah - Aileev, Trajeda, Sanoj, Madeline, and Nabikio.
1. What do you do when you are lost?
"Kinda depends on WHERE I'm lost, doesn't it? Outside, if I can just fly high enough, I'll be able to figure out where I am. Might have to wait awhile, lie low if there are enemies around, but I can wait! Indoors - or inside the cliffs at least - is another story. Then I have to try to find someone I know, or at least somebody who looks trustworthy, and get directions. Oof, it'd be bad if I got lost in a shady part of town, wouldn't it?"
"It's okay, Maddie will get us home!"
"First, I don't let on. Signs of weakness make you a target for criminals. Second, keep calm. A level head thinks better. Third, pay attention. The surroundings, what people are saying, anything could be a clue to help you find your way out."
"I don't get lost." Okay but hypothetically? "I dunno. Keep looking for the way home I guess. Maybe talk to an adult if I'm really confused."
"I am lost. I've been lost for nine years, ever since the Krahmen slew my father and kidnapped me. There is no way home, that I've found. But I will never give up looking. In the meantime," (smiling bitterly) "they've been getting payback."
2. What's something mundane that gives you the creeps?
"You can't tell anyone! Swear it!" (Lowers voice in shame) "The dark."
(Covering eyes) "S-spiders!"
"Pregnancy. Just... think about it. Every single one of us started out as a little seed, hanging in the void. Then we got bigger, until that great vast void became cramped quarters. I saw the strange ways my mother's belly would twist and stretch... as if there were some creature in there, trying to escape from within. Except, there was. I can't even imagine, how bizarre that must feel for the mother. Don't get me wrong, I think the miracle of life is just that - a miracle. Fearful and wonderful. A very good, very powerful thing. But some aspects of the whole process are..." (making weirded-out face)
"Dolls. Have you ever looked into those soulless eyes?" O_O
"...You know something? It's been so long since I've had what you might call a 'normal' life. I'm used to looking for the traps, the escape routes, the danger in everything.... If I ever do make it home, I wonder.... Would the ease and safety feel... well, too safe and easy? Perhaps... perhaps all the mundane would make me nervous. I hope not. But even so, I would still do anything to see my mother and sisters again."
3. How easy is it for people to trust you?
"I trust pretty easily! Seems like people pick up on that because I'm usually trusted quickly too. They might not spill their guts to me or anything, but everybody knows I'm not out to pick their pockets. And I'll have anyone's back in a fight too." :)
"NOBODY trusts me!" (pouting) "Mama says, 'I'll tell you when you're older,' or Daddy tells his friends, 'Little ears are listening," and Maddie gets to do whatever she wants, but I'm 'too little' and I gotta stay home all the time!" (stamping her little foot) [Madeline quietly: "They don't let me do anything either, I just do it!"] "...Oh! You mean, do people think I'm a good girl? Yes! I am always a good girl. Very nice to everybody!" (standing up straight and puffing her little chest out)
(chuckling) "I must give off some kind of 'trustworthy aura'. It seems almost automatic to people."
"I don't trust and I'm not trusted either. Deserved, I guess. I will snoop through your house if I have the chance. Not gonna steal anything, calm down! Just doing recon...." (smiles mysteriously)
"I used to be a natural at gaining trust. I was the leader of the neighborhood kids, when I felt like it. Now... well maybe it's the weird situation I live in. Anyway, my current closest friend... I had to work very hard to become her friend. And besides her, there aren't many people who trust me at all. Which is fair. I live in enemy territory and am probably out to get most of them."
This was an interesting character study; thanks @accessories-game ! I no-pressure-tag @thethiefinwhite @firstfandomfangirl @aptericia @skyward-floored @skyloftian-nutcase @hollers-and-holmes and @soanvalcke !
Your questions are:
What's the hardest thing you've ever done for someone you loved?
Can you swim? And if you can, who taught you?
Favorite way to relax and unwind?
OC Questionnaire Tag
Tagged by the lovely @talesofsorrowandofruin over on this post!
Rules: Pick an OC or group of OCs and answer the three questions posed in character. The put forward three questions of your own and tag some people.
My questions:
What's something you wish you'd figured out sooner?
How long do you think you could survive if you were lost in a wilderness?
What's the most interesting conversation you eavesdropped on?
I'll be using Stella, Layla, Ilya, Eliot & Pippa from Accessories to Murder to play along~
1. What's something you wish you'd figured out sooner?
"I suppose it might be smart for me to say asking for help. I have a frightfully difficult time reaching out for fear of being burdensome, but the results are so often not as bad as I feared. I simply can't imagine running the shop without the tireless efforts of Mr Lewis or dear Camelia."
"Simple: knowing which jobs aren't worth takin'. The amount of headaches that kinda thing could've saved me..."
"Perfect literacy for the languages I intended to speak. Such things help to keep a lower profile. Slang is also something I had difficulty with but no longer struggle with."
"There was a rather famous play that I thought I had figured out but it turns out I had it all backwards. Looking back it's all terribly obvious now but I suppose that's not the sort of answer you're looking for."
"Never agree to buy a house close to the river, no matter how good a deal it sounds. My rugs are positively ruined and I don't think any of my plants have forgiven me."
2. How long do you think you could survive if you were lost in a wilderness?
"I'm not certain about surviving in the wilderness. I've barely seen much of the outside world being more of a city girl. Let's be charitable and say a matter of hours, shall we?"
"Hmm, maybe a week? I'm no stranger to going without but a life like that sounds pretty rotten to me. I'd get done in by being bored than going hungry or anything."
"Much longer than my last attempt, which was years ago now but I remained undetected and in good health for months."
"On a good day, between 3 days and a week. I should know, I have tried before... a fascinating experience but not one I'd recommend."
"What, alone? With no one else around at all? That's not really nice, is it? I'm not sure I'd last a day lost and out there. Just the thought's put me on edge now..."
3. What's the most interesting conversation you eavesdropped on?
"I can't say too much as I was rather young at the time but I believe I overheard an assassination being planned. I didn't quite understand the full gravity of it all then and I think part of me thought that this planned hit for intended for me! I couldn't sleep for weeks afterwards."
"Ooh, the scandals I could tell you about. I tell you, some of these people just think they're stepping into a second home getting in a cab and just start spillin' all sorts to whoever's listening. Probably all just idle gossip anyway."
"Not one I am fond of remembering. It was from my time as a translator back home. It saved my life as well as the man held captive but it is also why I can never go back."
"It was never the complete conversations that I found interesting. My father, brilliant man and better detective, was as much a source of mystery to me as he is an inspiration. I remember overhearing fragments of hushed conversations with people I didn't know. I know everyone from the press to the police say he's a big part of the corrupt element in town... but I never did believe that."
"This one time, I had someone come to me looking to find his old sweetheart from before The Flood. Very tragic, very heartbreaking and... somehow I knew she wasn't dead. I took a moment, you know, to gather my wits and that and out the window, I could just heard the words of the song he had just told me this girl sang. Anyway, it turned out that she was looking for him and had been singing the song all around the streets hoping to find him. I'm sorry, I just love telling that story. I love a happy ending."
And now... I tag @vellatra @noisette-tornade @kyuponstories @raichana @teresashiho @maskedemerald and @cool-mint

"Fireflies" by Owl City (because it's in my head) and Silen Fah!
The house was dark and quiet. Tannufia lay snugly against me, one arm draped across my chest, snoring softly. Everything was cozy and perfect... why had I woken up?
A faint noise caught my attention and I strained my ears. Was that... sniffling?
I carefully lifted Tannufia's arm, rolled out of bed, and moved quietly out to the living room, pulling my nightshirt on as I did. There was no mistaking the noise now. I walked into the girls' bedroom.
Maddie was sprawled on her belly, drooling on her pillow. She wasn't having trouble. But Trajeda was curled up in a trembling little ball, with the sheets over her head, crying softly.
"What's wrong, Blueberry?" I asked, pulling the sheets back a little. She sat up, leaky eyes shut tight, and held her little arms out. "Come 'ere, honey." I scooped my daughter up, holding her close and rocking back and forth a little, like Tannufia and I had done many times before. "S'okay. You just had a bad dream. It's over now. You'll be alright...."
"Daddy!" she sobbed, rubbing her face in my shoulder. "Daddy...." and that was all I could get out of her.
So I thought for a bit. "Hey Blueberry," I said, carrying her out of the room so we wouldn't wake Maddie. "You wanna see somethin'?"
"...H-huh?" she said, lifting her head a little and wiping her eyes.
"I'm gonna show you what nighttime looks like on Earth," I said, grabbing a thick throw off the couch and wrapping it around us.
"Really?" she said, perking up, tears almost forgotten.
"Yeah really. But get yer hat - it's cold out there." I held her up to the hat hooks so she could reach. She put hers on, then grabbed mine and stuffed it on me. It was a little off-kilter, but it'd do its job so I didn't care. I stepped into my boots and carried her out on the porch.
"Whoaaaaa," said Trajeda, staring wide-eyed at the sky. She wasn't allowed outside past her bedtime, and - since she was young and her bedtime was early - she might never have seen the stars before, I wasn't sure.
"Them's the stars, " I said. "They're always there, but the suns are so bright, you only get to see 'em in the winter, and at night."
"They PRETTY," Trajeda breathed, still staring.
"They sure are pretty, Pumpkin."
"Earth got stars too?"
"Sure does," I said. "But Earth's only got one sun, and it's like Peta, it goes down every night. So on Earth you get to see the stars all year long, after bedtime."
"I wanna see Earth," said Trajeda, still dazzled. "The sky so... sparkly!"
"And that ain't the only thing sparkly," I said, stepping off the porch and heading down the street. Hopefully the buuds would be out tonight.... I took the stairs by the gate and came up at the top of the town wall, squinting into the woods. "Hey look," I said, pointing.
"Oooh," said Trajeda.
"Them's the buuds," I said. "They're always glowin' but you only see that in the dark."
"Mama showed me buuds up close once," she said. "They cute!"
"You bet, honey."
"Earth got buuds?"
"Naw," I said. "But it's got fireflies."
"Fireflies?"
"Yes ma'am," I said. "They're bugs that come out at night and light up, kinda like that. Except fireflies turn on and off, so you get a nice field full of 'em and there's all these twinklin' lights in the grass. S'real pretty."
"Lucky," said Trajeda, with a little pout in her lips.
"Hey now, Silen Fah's real pretty too," I said. "Earth don't got buuds, or two suns! An' all the tree trunks are brown."
"All of 'em?"
"Well, there's a few kinds that're white but yeah, pretty much. And Earth don't got farshanthis plants neither," I said, heading back down the stairs and stopping at one of the neighbor's porches, where several were potted. "Also, you don't get people with colorful hair neither," I said. "All the Earth people got is black, brown, red, and yellow. And white if yer old. You don't get nobody like you or yer mama."
Trajeda leaned her head back on my shoulder, with a shy little smile. "Okay, Daddy. Silen Fah pretty too." She fought back a yawn. "Thanks fer showin' me stars."
"Anytime, Blueberry. Let's get you back to bed," I said, turning from the neighbor's porch and going up the street again. Trajeda nestled into the crook of my arm, and by the time I got home, she was peacefully sleeping again. I tucked her carefully in - leaving the warm quilt wrapped around her - and went to curl up with Tannufia again.

Drawing for my OCtober prompt #4 - "Action Shot", featuring Ryan and Trajeda (Tannufia's husband and their daughter, respectively). This one filled me with warm fuzzies while I was drawing it... mostly because I got to imagine Lumber Jack and Vellatra Jr. doing the same thing someday soon! :)

Oh crud who do I do for these questions uhhhhhh
TRAJEDA GET OVER HERE! yoinks the child
What does she keep in her bag?
Cool stuff she found like feathers, pinecones, or neat rocks, and always one or more of Tannufia's baked goods (cookies or muffins usually, depending on the day). She also has several of her cat's whiskers in there, for good luck.
2. Does she have any nicknames?
Blueberry (Ryan); iute (Tannufia - translates to Little One); and Piko (Madeline, and by extension most of her kid friends - short for pikolah, which is her favorite kind of berry)
3. What's a weird thing she is obsessed with?
These aren't necessarily weird, but the following is a list of her obsessions:
Her daddy's stories about Earth (he lets her wear his old cowboy hat sometimes and she LOVES it!)
Her black cat, Orneta
Forest creatures (which her mama teaches her about), especially Buuden (small glowing green pig-like animals) "Cause they're cute!"
Baking (especially cookies!)
NPTs: @reneethegreatandpowerful @card-queen @aptericia @meadow-roses @scriptrixdeo
✨New questions!✨ 1. One of their quirks? 2. Their tastes in music? 3. Their role in the story? (main, comic relief, antagonist, side plot, etc)
Thanks for the tag @larissa-the-scribe!
OC Tag game:
I'll answer these questions then ask three more and the people I tag are forced to answer
I'll do this for Wryden
How does your character feel about long road trips?
It depends on his mood. If he can control the music he is going to SHOVE HIS MUSIC TASTE DOWN YOUR THROAT. Or he's taking pictures the entire time. Although if he is sitting beside Erin, he is going to be cuddling the entire time and not paying attention to anything else except state borders and telling quirky facts about the scenery.
2. What's your character's favorite letter of the alphabet and why?
I'd say Q. He likes it bc no one else does lol
3. Opinion on rainy weather?
He loves it. It's honestly great for taking pictures and the aesthetic. Not to mention the sound of falling rain while sitting by a fire surrounded by pillows with your girlfriend.
Questions:
What do they keep in their bag?
Do they have any nicknames? What are they?
What's a weird thing they are obsessed with?

Hi one thing I noticed about your OCs is that many have a tis or tiz in their surname. What's the significance of it?
Ooh I was curious if anyone was wondering! :D
"Tiz" is a word in Flunibu, my made-up language for the Silen Fah story. (Still a work in progress!) It just translates to "of", but in the context of a name, it's understood to mean "son of..." or "daughter of..." and the "last name" is simply the name of the character's father. Unlike on earth, entire families do not match, for example Lucard tiz Aludin and his wife, Vellatra tiz Drackio - but siblings do! (See Nabikio, Aileev, and Veelia, who are all "...tiz Lucard".)
And then there are two major countries in the story - Silen Fah ("tree place"), and the Merfaen tiz Ornaru ("cliffs of darkness") - each of which has a bit of a different accent, or a different way of pronouncing certain letters. It's kind of like how English and German don't agree on how to pronounce a "w". "S" and "z" happen to be one of the points of disagreement. So, while the Merfaturen ("cliff people") say "tiz", the people of Silen Fah say a softer "tis" (e.g. Trajeda tis Ryan).
Thank you for the good excuse to ramble about my story! :D

Propaganda for the lovely lady Tannufia!
Tumblr media
Tannufia tis Candin is a woman of Silen Fah - the other world that our heroes get "Narnia-ed" into. Her race, the Jelturen, are known for having any color imaginable on their heads, but she has been blessed with the unique trait of having all the colors at once, naturally. (And her name literally translates to "rainbow" because of this.) She is the younger daughter of a couple of unicorn hunters (not nearly as violent as it sounds), and so spent her childhood for the most part in the deep forest, living in a tent with her parents and her older sister, Vixie. She consequently has a lot of survival skills, and knowledge about the flora and fauna of her land - and, on more than one occasion, has even had the rare opportunity to see a cloud of fairies. (Or "ien" as they are called here.)
Tumblr media
(Left-to-right: Vixie, Trajeda, and Tannufia)
When Tannufia was a young woman, the first known case of a human arrival occurred, and she met her future husband, Ryan. Ryan was a cowboy from the 1800s (time travel yayyy), rough around the edges, but very gentlemanly, and in spite of a language barrier, it didn't take much time for her to fall head over heels. She now lives as a happily married stay-at-home-wife... and mother, to their little daughter Trajeda (and Madeline, another human whom Ryan adopted). She spends most of her time tending to the girls, weeding the garden, looking for eggs, and cooking up wonderful meals for her family. Well, them, and the frequent and numerous guests that come to their home. When a new crew of humans show up at the beginning of Book One, she and Ryan take them in while they're getting their bearings in this new world. Ryan learned to speak her language, Flunibu, but he's also taught her a bit of English and she puts this to good use then! It's a little broken and she has a very thick southern accent (like Ryan), making her way of speaking the most unique out of the whole cast, probably - at least when she's using English. She may not be the main character, but she is a vital part of their team and gives them a peaceful place to regroup after their adventures.
Tumblr media
Alternate Time Period drawing, putting them on Earth in the 1950s
Tumblr media
Interacting with forest creatures is still a favorite pastime of hers!
Tumblr media
I love her. If you could spare a vote for Rainbow Mom, I would be much obliged! :)
