Concept 1: Sebmick (I am a simple girl, with simple wants)

I've fleshed out some of this here and here, with the help of og Pacific Rim AU anon and @sebrrari! Essentially, Michael and Seb used to pilot together. Kaiju attack, and Michael's torn away from Seb. Seb meets Mick in the Jaeger program, and even though it's blindingly clear to anyone with an eye that they're both fucking drift compatible to the moon, Seb refuses to pilot with Mick. He wants to protect Mick; Michael would never forgive him. Mick only sees this as a betrayal. It comes to a head when Mick throws a punch at Seb in his frustration and anger and hurt, and sees fit to lop his own arm off in penance when the truth tumbles out of Seb in a fit of tears.

No, I never thought you were unworthy of me. It is I, who is unworthy of you. While Mick curses himself to the deepest pit of hell for ever laying a finger on Seb.

Why Sebmick pacific rim au tragic you ask? I don't know! I don't know!!!

Concept 2: Vettonso

Fleshed out here with the help of @traincoded!

The oldest pilots in the PPDC who only past their golden days become drift compatible. They hated each other at the start, and find comfort in each other now, battle-worn with their back thick with scars. Fernando annoys and teases Seb but would bite the hand off anyone who touches him. Seb comes to enjoy Fernando's particular brand of humour and chaos.

Concept 3: Sebastidan

I allude to it here!

The storyline goes like this, Ricciardo's family are huge investors of the Wall Project, and have steadily decreased funding to the Jaeger Program due to their initiatives. It is the lack of funding that causes Seb's partner (Mark!!!!!) to code in an old suit that wasn't prepared for the new Kaijus with leatherback armour.

I seem to carry a theme of, Seb's old partners are all gone, and he's sad and he trains the new recruits. But yeah, he can't pilot again after Mark. So he trains the new recruits.

And Daniel comes in??? What the fuck? The son of the investor who caused funding to be shifted to the Wall? What's he playing at? Seb will make it his life's mission to destroy Daniel and kick him out of the Program before he can cause more harm.

We find out Daniel never believed in the Wall Project, and denounced his family's name and came to the Jaeger Program in what he believed to be an act of penitence.

They're drift compatible, of course they are.

Concept 4: Martian (of cos of cos)

Fleshed out here! The jaeger's called Devil's Grit! I think I'm so clever!

Concept 5: Sebchal original story (before Down in the Depths We Make Our Home was solidified)
