i was trying to make a vanship in trailmakers but i couldn’t get a canon design with the building system so i made my own and then i made lore for it and now i made a whole new subsection of the sky pirates called the Vultures who scavenge remains of battles to make their own vanships and the names are all bird themed i only have one vanship created at the moment though but it’s called the hummingbird it’s purpose built to be able to be rushed together from scraps when needed and it gets its name from its speed, finickiness, and unique ability to (somewhat) go backwards

I’m a Trailmakers player, one of my top 5 games easily, a block based vehicle building sandbox, and it’s one of the few I’ve found with really nice buoyancy and lift mechanics.

I’m telling you all this because I wanna brag about the fact that I’m 22nd in the world on one of the boat races right now with a sub 1 minute lap and the jet boat I made is super pretty. 530kph in a straight line and handles like it’s on rails.

It has an airliner turbine behind the cockpit, which pushes it forward and down, and the two paddles on the front skids hold it up off the water on hydroplane. There are two more in the back that act more as an elevator, holding the back end up and balanced on the front planes. Two points of contact with the water, super streamlined body, minimal drag.

Beat out #3 by literally 0.02 seconds. I probably could have leaned out of my cockpit and fist bumped him during the race. Seriously tested my ability in building vehicles in trailmakers as well as my ability to pilot vehicles in the game.

There is a great feeling of catharsis that comes from joining a Trailmakers pvp server where the dominant player is clearly only there because they put an excessive number of guns on a bad vehicle. Mainly because I am quite good at the game and have both a) very good technical designs that can outmaneuver the best opponents, and b) absolutely disgusting vehicles that can lose 95% of their parts without breaking and can shred through anything in a second.

The second type is poor sportsmanship generally but sometimes it is well justified.

Diversity in Video Games

The constant refrain is that we need diversity in video games. Which is based of one, (of several), faulty premises.

That most protagonists in video games are straight, white men.

They make the assumption that this is bad, and a number of other faulty assumptions, but even the most basic premise is wrong.

Most video games do not have a recognizable protagonist. The ones that do are typically straight, white men, but most of them don't.

No character. From strategy games to basic puzzle games, the closest thing you have to a main character is the shape or your cursor. A lot of racing games might give you a silhouette or something.

Roster: You have a selection of characters that are largely diverse. You typically end up with one more male character than female. Which we totally need Feminism to fix.

Character Creation: You make your own protagonist. Everything form Trailmakers, (basically Lego), to Animal Crossing, to Pokemon, to the most AAA RPG's.

Let's say you have a recognizable protagonist.

The most recognizable video game character of all time is Italian, which are not white.

The second recognizable video game protagonist was a woman in powered armour.

Half of the big video games are made in Japan. And I fucking hate having to keep say this, Asians aren't white. Okay, yes, when the race war starts, a lot of Asians will be on the white side, but that doesn't make them white, it means they aren't trying to genocide us.

The character might be a white male, but you might not even get a chance to see him. Sometimes you'll find a mirror and get to see what you actually look like, but not always. There was like one or two places where you can see Gordon Freeman's face, and none where you can see Jack's.

The character might be a furry, alien, robot, or who knows what else.
