to summarize:
someone apparently made a fanpage for the immesenly successful and not at all failson of a video game "funko fusion" in itch.io, funko's automated AI digital pinkerton (yes, same CEO as the WotC debacle) issued a bogus "phishing" report to their server and domain registrar (as opposed to an expected DMCA/cease-and-desist, possibly in bad faith to escalate it quicker), the latter of which refused to respond to itch already having had removed the offending page and automatically took down their domain. there are three parties at fault here, funko, brandshield, and the registrar iwantmyname.
to laypeople: the content of itch.io was never affected (since this was the domain registrar, not the server host), only the address which tells your computer how to reach it. the result is that the page isn't accessible, but the content is still being served somewhere, only unreachable. eventually this address was reinstated after a few hours and the website and services were available again
and then, roughly about half an hour before posting a non-apology on twitter, they decided to call itch's owner's mom in what certainly sounds like an intimidation tactic.
in my opinion, issuing takedowns and lawsuits for fan works of your media has got to be the most hilarious business practice ever conceived. you're really going out of your way to actively punish consumers for showing interest in your products and then calling yourself the victim.

Need to be the woman in a giant fucking glass tube, naked, hooked up to various tubes and cables floating hunched over in a somewhat divine, too-perfect repose, while some scientist runs experiments against God on me
