do you have any hcs for sméagol/gollum? They can be random, I just feel like you’re one of the few people I’ve come across that truly understands the character and sees him as more than what most of the fandom perceives him as, so I’d love to see what you’ve come up with over the years!
* Young Sméagol was near sighted. I like to imagine it this way, based on what Tolkien wrote. 1, he said Déagol was sharper eyed. 2, he said Sméagol spent a lot of time looking at and exploring the things he could reach. I imagine this would make it so his eyes were more adapted to seeing close up things.
* Young Sméagol was allergic to certain flowers/plants. I imagine this is another reason why he didn't care to watch them opening up on the trees. 1, because they were difficult for him to see, what with his near-sightedness, and 2, because he's allergic to them and so doesn't like them anyway.
* Sméagol is attracted to other males. He and Déagol were romantically involved, and it's why he refers to him as "my love". Tolkien also referred to Frodo as Sméagol's "new love". His love for Frodo had him arguing with Gollum over whether or not to take the Ring back. Huge.
* The Gollum in Sméagol is inspired by Sméagol's Grandmother. Gollum, I believe, is the darkness that already existed in Sméagol, but pulled to the surface and strengthened. I imagine his darkness was learned behavior. Rich Grandmother, loving her treasures, scolding Sméagol, trying to keep him under control with cruel words and, also, Stoors were known to whip their kin with sticks when they misbehaved. So Gollum I imagine is like Sméagol's abusive and greedy Grandmother. I imagine she's where he learned the phrase "My precious".
Some ideas I've already posted about but I can say them again:
* Sméagol is touch-starved, needs to touch to feel connected
* He has PTSD/Dissociative Identity Disorder
* Sméagol is Autistic (wouldn't be called that in Middle-Earth but either way, I believe he has what people now a days would call high functioning autism)
I can't think of any more at the moment but if you want to know what I think about other things you can assssk!

Sméagol is the translation of an actual Westron name Trahald, the meaning of which was "burrowing, worming in" or "apt to creep into a hole".

I can't get over this I've shouted at the group chat about it multiple times but I need to come here I cannot with this.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CHANGED MY NAME TO FRODO??
I mean no Ill will nor offence to any and all lord of the rings kinnies who use the English names, but I am fucking BAFFLED.
TOLKEIN YOU KNOW WHAT MY FUCKING NAME IS?? I know you know what my name is because the name you have as my "true" name feels so intimately correct, and yet you still chose to just ?? MAKE ONE UP? and not only did you make a name up, you chose FJCUCKING FRODO???? FRODO???
my name was MAURA. Pronounced mah-ur-ra, with a beautiful little tapped R. It's so graceful, the pronunciation is so nice, it makes me sound so refined. Maura Labingi, that's gorgeous. Labingi is a little goofy sounding but it looks lovely written down. And with the 'a' suffix all of our family names actually match the "la" sound, not just Bilbo having alliteration and Not Me.
Frodo fucking Baggins. I save all of middle earth and you change my name to FRODO. All the elves and shit get to keep the names from their languages, but NOOO we need to change bilba and Maura so that they have male suffixes in english, and also Maura needs a translation for his name into A WORD NOBODY ASSOCIATES WITH THE MEANING OF MY NAKE ANYWAY.
And it's not just me I'm upset about. Sam's real name is Banazîr, Ban for short. BAN... HOW CUTE IS THAT? HOW FITTING? TO BE BAN? I call him "ban" in my mind and I smile like a fool in love, as i was. Ban, I don't want to go back, ban is adorable. Do you hear me.
Kali to merry is fine, and I do like that tolkein kept his absurdly long name. And honestly I kindve vibe with "pippin" on the same level that I do Razar, pippin has a little hop step to it that fits him. But fucking Frodo. Do I look like a Frodo? Do I act like a Frodo? What crime did I commit for you to name me FRODO.
Hell they fucked over smeagol even, his real name is "Trahald." Isn't that so much nicer sounding??
I'm in shambles. To the entire world I am known as Frodo Baggins. And for what? And for why? Why did you do this to me? I understand why it was for the sake of writing and having a coherent Vibe to the hobbits that our admittedly quite fancy or exotic sounding names don't exactly hit. But you could have at least given me a name as pretty as my actual name. I need to find Sam/ban he'd back me up on this. (I know because the reason I remembered my name was Maura was because I remember Ban saying it like it was the nicest word he'd ever heard)
I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm just so Mad. I demand repentance, comeuppance a personal apology letter from tolkeins estate.

Sméagol and Déagol are equivalents made up in the same way for names Trahald 'burrowing, worming in', and Nahald 'secret' in the Northern tongues.

Gollum my precious. by Tony Via Flickr: Gollum, originally known as Sméagol (or Trahald), was at first a Stoor, one of the three early Hobbit-types. The name Gollum was derived from the sound of his disgusting gurgling, choking cough. This was the first of many wooden carvings on the estate as we started our ‘open garden’ walk around the Poulton Hall Estate’s garden.

GOLLUM IN THE GAMES “SHADOW OF MORDOR” AND “SHADOW OF WAR” AND HOW THEY FIT IN HIS TIMELINE
Gollum spent a long time in the south, in the areas in and around Mordor.
Sauron had declared himself openly in Mordor (TA:2951) and began drawing all evil things there. The ring had left it's mark and left him open to the summons. Pulling him away from his search for Bilbo.
He snuck around the borders of Mordor, spying and learning. He discovered the secret stair near Minas Morgul and met Shelob (TA:2980), becoming her spy for a while and bringing her food.
After many years, Gollum ventured into Mordor and was captured by agents of Sauron. Officially this is only recorded as sometime in the 8 years after TA:3009. Although the “Lord of the Rings: Gollum” game specifically states that he was captured in TA:3012.
He remained in Mordor until his release in TA:3017. 66 years there in total.
The storyline of the games are set sometime during this period. After meeting Shelob but before being captured by Sauron. Note also that in the games Gollum was already roaming around inside Mordor (specifically Udûn) for a while before his capture.
SHADOW OF MORDOR
Gollum encounters the ranger Talion and the wraith Celebrimbor in Udûn. He recognises Celebrimbor from his dreams and knows of his connection to the One Ring. Gollum agrees to help them find items that will help him to recover his memory in the hopes of being led to the ring. Eventually he gets frustrated and attempts to kill Talion and is sent away.
SHADOW OF WAR
Gollum is sent by Shelob to assist Talion and Celebrimbor in a quest to kill one of Sauron’s orc assassins.
Bonus picture of Gollum smashing an orcs head in with a rock!

General
What is the name of the place where the Hobbits live?
Hobbits or halflings are fictitious, 60 to 120 cm tall human-like beings in the fantasy world of Middle-earth created by J. R. R. Tolkien. They play a leading role in the novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, as well as in the film adaptations of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson. In ancient Hebrew there is "smiri", from which the Yiddish goo originated (the "guardian" or "secret bearer"). Bilbo Baggins is considered a living legend of the Shire people. After Sauron's defeat in the Ring War, King Elessar gave Sauron's slaves their freedom and gave them all the lands around the Sea of Núrnen. Minas Tirith lay at the south-eastern end of the Ered Nimrais. To the south, the city was only two miles from the Anduin. Northeast of the White City lay Anórien, southwest the fief Lossarnach joined. It was actually called Trahald ("digging", "sneaking in" in the languages of the Northmen), represented by the Old English equivalent Sméagol.
almost all Hobbits lived in the Shire and divided it into four regions (see below regions).
{
From the air you have a perfect bird's eye view of the three national parks of the region - Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakesund Kahurangi.access to the area is via a road, which was built especially for the film by the New Zealand army - exactly like the first 37 Hobbit Caves, the mill and the bridge over the small lake.
If you book on Tripadvisor you will get a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the start date of the tour.
1409 Imladris was besieged once again, this time by the troops of Angmar.

Of course there were no houses in the hills yet. Step into the "Green Dragon Bar", drink a real Hobbit brew and sing one of the drinking songs of the celebratory little inhabitants of Middle-earth in a true to original setting. Various beers and hearty meals round off the short holiday in Hobbiton. In the north of the Gorgoroth plain was the valley of Udûn, an almost circular depression in the middle of two mountain arms that surrounded the valley. To the north, the valley was closed off by the Black Gate. {
How long does it take from Germany to New Zealand?
flight time (duration of flight) to Auckland - New Zealand. The flight time (flight duration) from Frankfurt/Main to Auckland in New Zealand is just under 24 hours with one stopover. While this
