NEW THIS MORNING: Dumaguete PNP saved Bacong Resident stopped to commit suicide outside NOPH amid financial and emotional struggles

DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- A local man named 'J. Aurea' from Brgy. Doldol of 'Bacong, Negros Oriental', who is seriously attempted to kill himself, usually severe or minorly electrocuted by climbing onto internet and telephone cables, mostly electrical wires from 'Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative 2' (NORECO II), outside of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH), in front of the newly-opened coffee retailer and restaurant chain branch of Starbucks. Luckily, the police were able to intervene and rescue him before he could strike some electrical wires.

Local Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS) named 'Orlando E. Gonzaga' from the Dumaguete City Police Station (DCPS) shared that the event took place on Wednesday morning at 8:45am on December 4th (Dumaguete local time). Witnesses described how a man climbed the hospital's steel railing and swung past a billboard, then laid on the cables and wrapped a cable around his neck, like a spaghetti and monkey combined.

The team of DCPS quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the man from Bacong, laying on the cables with a cable tied around his neck. The police was parked nearby, above the hood of easy ride vehicle, which prompted the man to jump, narrowly avoiding serious injury or death.

It was said that the wife of the man was under admission at NOPH, and the incident is believed to have been triggered by a nervous breakdown caused by the grief of his wife's hospitalization and mental health issues. The man's parents confirmed this in their statements to the police.

Local witnesses say, he was climbing the cable and telephone lines due to absolute frustration, after not getting paid at work for two (2) weeks in late-November this year. All of the sudden, he got a notice saying he has lots of debts that Mr. Aurea owed from either E-Wallet app or the bank like Fuse Lending and RCBC Bankard Services Corporation (RBSC) as an example, which made him confuse how he would lose his money instantaneously.

Individuals like Mr. Aurea, who recently attempted for suicide was now taken to the Behavioral Center in 'Brgy. Talay, Dumaguete City', this said province for both treatment and rehabilitation. Authorities from the DCPS and the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) are conducting an investigation to uncover the details of the incident. The community has come together to support the victim and their family, providing prayers and looking for financial relief and assistance in Negros Oriental.

Tingkatkan Mutu Pelayanan, UPTD Puskesmas Ulak Rengas Menggelar Kegiatan Lokmin

Puskesmas Ulak Rengas menggelar Lokakarya Mini (Lokmin) lintas sektoral yang dipusatkan di aula puskesmas setempat, Rabu (23/08/2023). Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan sinergitas dengan para stakeholder di wilayah puskesmas Ulak Rengas, dalam bidang layanan kesehatan yang dilakukan setiap tiga bulan. Dalam kesempatan itu, Camat Abung Tinggi Heriyanto, S.E, menjelaskan, kegiatan Lokmin penting dilakukan untuk mensosialisasikan berbagai program kesehatan yang dimiliki hingga penanganannya untuk masyarakat melalui peran puskesmas. "Dibutuhkan kerjasama seluruh elemen agar tujuan dalam meningkatkan mutu pelayanan kesehatan masyarakat bisa tercapai. Kita harus sinergi," ucap Heriyanto. Sementara itu, Kepala UPTD Puskesmas Ulak Rengas, Siti Regina, S.K.M, M.K.M, menyampaikan, bahwasanya Lokmin yang di gelar pada hari ini, merupakan Lokmin Triwulan ke III. Dengan tujuan menggalang komitmen bersama, untuk meningkatkan kerjasama lintas sektoral dalam meningkatkan mutu pelayanan puskesmas. "Sangat diperlukan dukungan seluruh pihak, baik masyarakat maupun lintas program dan lintas sektor terkait. Karena program kesehatan tidak bisa berjalan sendiri tanpa dukungan dari seluruh pihak," pungkas Regina.
