i do not remember the plot of scum villain because i read it in 2020 and it feels like a fever dream now so my characterization is entirely based off of the fanon on my dash.

hualian are my favorite but i do feel that bingqiu deserve the win. tgcf is VERY yuri, but svsss has gender as a main theme and both characters keep getting compared to maidens. overall there are more explicit references to women regarding bingqiu.

Situationship so bad it caused a civil war. Gays divorcing without even breaking up. Also they have matching scars on their arms that they inflicted indirectly and directly. Basically if the realm allowed gay marriage they would have been an awesome ruling and happy couple. Childhood friends to enemies to friends to reluctant enemies (the love is there but it’s a tragedy - not enough to save them) idk they are driving me insane.

They are baby married and living together (with no adults???) in the main Higurashi story but Gou focuses on their relationship and how focused on Rika Satoko is (spoilers: she is time looping and killing them both to do so and stay together)

TL:DR Codependent Doomed Toxic Yuri. Long version: They are extremely codependent childhood friends who literally lived together since they were preteens because they are both orphans. Both would rather kill themselves then live in a world where they aren't by each other's side. (Spoilers) In Higurashi Gou/Sotsu, they attend a prestigious catholic all-girld school together and become more distant towards each other. Timeloop shannigans occur where Satoko keeps trying to convince Rika to not go to said school- but every loop ends with Rika still wanting to go and Satoko killing herself to reset the loop. All of this eventually makes Satoko (who has horrible abandonment issues) trap Rika in timeloop so they can relive their childhood forever even if gruesome murders occur in every loop. There's even a gut pulling scene- they are literally the ship of all time.

Submitted propaganda: Its genuinely good. Its a genuinely interesting story with excellent character designs and entertaining characters and the horniness is not just a coating of titties for fanservice, but fundamental to the plot. It is about self discovery and learning to accept yourself but not letting your desires consume you. The action is tense. The relationships between characters are interesting. Each character is charming in their own way, from the flop loser MC who is playing villain because she's hard up for magical girls to the magical girl who joined the good team bc the others watched her beat a demon in the head with a brick to the supervillain college dropout who wants to rule the world. There is an overarching mystery concerning why and how these girls gained power to begin with (i do NOT trust that little shit of a mascot). The mood and tone of the story is so masterful-- you can TELL when somethings wrong. There is also some very good comedy all throughout-- it's just a super fun read! They also got their first season of an anime recently (which is somehow hornier than the manga) so.
