♡ Announcing SJM Romance Week 2025! ♡

Hello everyone! Valentine’s Day 2025 is coming up, and that means it's time to celebrate any and all ships related to Sarah J. Maas' work. This will be a week-long event and we (@moodymelanist & @separatist-apologist) welcome any and all forms of celebration of the various types of love — fics, headcanons, playlists, art, moodboards, or anything in between.

When will this take place? February 8 through February 14, 2025!

Who can participate? Any and all fans of SJM’s couples! From canon to reader to crackships, any and all ships from Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Crescent City are welcome! Please remain respectful — the characters are fictional, but the people who ship them are not. Leave the shipping wars at the door.

What are the prompts?

First Kiss — How did your ship's first kiss happen?

First Fight — Why are they arguing? And more importantly, how do they make up?

First "I Love You" — How did your ship first exchange those three little words? Who said it first? Was it planned, or could they just not hold it in anymore? You decide!

Moving in Together — How does your ship go from dating to living together? Tell us!

Favorite Tropes — What are your favorite romance tropes? From enemies to lovers,��there was only one bed, forbidden love, love triangles, or something else, use your favorite trope for your ship!

What Comes Next? — What do you see in the future for your ship? Do they settle down, buy a house, and build that white picket fence? Are they traveling the world, or staying close to home? Tell us all about it!

We are on the final days of September and in no time at all it shall be October, and time for the first day of the SJM Villain Week. We cannot wait to get started, and to count us down to the first day, we have created a fun activity to get everyone excited!

Every day, a random headcanon for one of the villains will be posted, and everyone is invited their share their own headcanons, either for that villain.

Or we have created Spin The Wheels (links at the bottom of the post) for each of the series if you want to randomly pick out a villain to create a headcanon for.

Of course, you are also welcome to pick out any one or multiple of your favorite villain(s) to share your headcanons about! Tag anyone you know who you think would like to join in!!

SJM Villain Headcanon: Keir (ACOTAR)-

Keir is super into astronomy, he has maps of the stars covering his office. Whatever free time he has outside of his work as Steward and Leader of the Darkbringers, is poured into his hobby. His passion for astronomy was born from the very, very few times he was allowed to leave the Hewn City to visit his relatives in Velaris, and finally got to observe the night sky in all it's glory.

Since then, he has tried to replicate the night sky in the Hewn City. Having the cave ceilings covered with glittering faelights in the same constellations of the real thing. Mapping everything out to be absolutely precise.

It's not the same, but it does well enough. In rare moments of love, Keir might've taken Morrigan out to the makeshift parks built into the Hewn City, and laid on the grass with her to stare at the 'night sky'.

During the holiday of Starfall, when everyone gathers outside in Velaris to witness the great event. Keir creates a replica of the holiday in the Hewn City. Using magic, he makes the faelights 'fall' in a similar manner to the stars during Starfall. (After a few drinks, who in the world could tell the difference between real star dust and the glitter the Hewn City people use anyway?)

rowan x aelin - the couple who are mates, but didn't know right away because rowan had been 'promised to another' in a fake mates situation put into place by an antagonist

ruhn x lidia - the literal night & day couple, the couple who are pretty much spies, where ruhn has shadow powers and burn scars from his traumatic childhood

and we know for a fact that these universes are connected to each other, we know that there are numerous parallels between them

now that i have finished the sjm universe, here are my official favorite characters

Lucien - no one can make me hate this man i have been there from day 1! i thought he was the most charming and funny character in acotar and i have come to love him more as the series progresses. i think that he is a complex character and somehow the character that makes me feel the most (elucien book will be the death of me) and as i have said before… i don’t even want him to end up with elain or anyone else, I WANT HIM FOR MYSELF!

Nesta- i used to hate nesta and i dreaded reading her book, and then i read it, and i have never seen myself in a character more. i would, im not joking, die for nesta. talk about complex character. i have nothing else to say i love her.

Yrene- i LOVE the way sjm writes mothers (some) but i love the fact the yrene being pregnant did not stop her from ANYTHING. she saved the whole world so that her child and her family could have the future they deserve, the better future that was hoped for by each character. Yrene also made me fall in love with chaol in TOD. yrene is a powerful woman in every sense, from innish to orynth… i loved her

fenrys- he gave a lucien vibe and had some witty little comments throughout the book that i loved. but the emotions that radiated off him after his brother and what him and aelin went through… my heart breaks for him.

aelin- yes she is the FMC but.. oh my god. TALK ABOUT COMPLEX! i cant even put into words how how much i loved her. that is all i can say.

Tharion- again lucien vibes. he is funny and charming and genuinely made me smile each time he was on the page. i felt so conflicted when he started self sabotaging to the highest degree, but i still found myself wanting him to get through and be happy. this boy is an idiot but hes my idiot.

baxian- i.. want.. NOTHING BUT HAPPINESS FOR HIM! i just.. i want him to be happy

Ember- i want her to be my mother? again love the way that sjm writes moms and the fierceness that ember loves her family. i think you can especially see this in the bonus chapter with my girl nesta

I’ve had a thought about ToG and I’ve never seen anyone talk about this before in theories or anything. (KOA spoilers)

Yrene is Silba’s sole heir, the Goddess of Healing. So when Aelin banished all the gods and they are no more… that would mean Yrene inherits her full powers, right? Let’s say she does, for the sake of the theory.

Being the new Goddess of Healing, would that mean she becomes immortal? And by their life bond, would Chaol be as well?

This poses some super interesting questions!!

Do you think they are in all the great fae history books? Do you think Bryce has read about her in Jesiba’s library? Do you think Azriel, who hoards legends and stories of enduring love, knows of the Healer who saved the world? Do you think Feyre or Rhys tell Nyx the bedtime story of the Captain and the Healer?

And do you think Yrene and Chaol could possibly have descendants that we have met already in acotar/CC?

There’s just so much potential there not to be explored!

More Fae appeared—from another world this time. Tall, beautiful beings entered. Even Bryce’s rage and despair stalled. Fae from another world—but they looked so similar to the ones from this place. The Funny Thing About Mates

I love how different the mates of this fandom are. According to Sarah herself, mates are supposed to be protective.

I love how in TOG and CC this is the case, but in ACOTAR it's widily different.

TOG and CC: I will go to the ends of the earth to find you and ensure your safety.

ACOTAR: Go retrieve your wedding ring from this creature (and nearly die in the process), and go climb an entire mountain when you're weak and su1c1dal.

Anyway, this just proves my point that ACOTAR is Sarah's weakest series. Live laugh love <3
