Rewatching "Touch of Eval(uations)" and I love the fact that Ms. LaBonz apparently wrote "don't quit your day job" on Rudy's last report card. Would love to know more about that. Rudy seems like more of a "pleasure to have in class" kid.
Also, Ollie's line, "And sometimes you call us 'The Shining' and I don't get the reference." is one of my favorite Pesto Twin jokes.

Hey you know what's fun legitimately feeling like crying over a song from a silly burger show because god it hits hard as someone who is neurodivergent
youtube
Side note they need to release a vol 3 of the bob's burgers soundtrack I need this song along with the two songs fischoeder sang in the end credits of the episodes 'touch of eval(uations)' and 'what a (april) fool believes' in my playlist so much (+ some other songs too)

what's your favorite underrated song from bob's burgers?
Omg, there've been so many fantastic songs throughout the show, but without a doubt I have to say it's the Mishima arrangement from season 13
Hearing them take a piece that's already so stunning and give it a whole new sound with mallet instruments was absolutely incredible, and I think it added a lot of depth to the emotion of the scene. They did a fantastic job with the whole episode, but that one scene stood out above all the rest for me, it's been almost a year since the first time I watched it and it's still on my mind constantly
Also thank you for asking! Film scores and movie music are something I'm passionate about lol, I love talking about this stuff
youtube
Plus, some honorable mentions:
Teddy singing "Beyond the Sea"
The Art Song from The Bleakening
Mr Fischoeder's little song from the end credits of Touch of Eval(uations)

Essential Boblin Episodes
In preparation for Boblin Week, I’ve compiled a list of the episodes where I think Bob and Linda’s dynamic shines the most.
Season One:
Weekend at Mort’s— this episode really has the grumpy/sunshine dynamic on full display! Bob and Linda fight and make up, and Bob learns a nice lesson about having fun with her.
Season Three:
Lindapendent Woman- ohhhhhhh myyyyy goodness. I’m being so serious when I say I think about this episode on a daily basis. Bob realizing how much he needs Linda’s help at the restaurant while also acknowledging how how she makes his life more fun?? So excellent, makes me cry, 10/10.
My Fuzzy Valentine- Bob being dumb and going to great lengths to make Linda’s Valentine’s Day special!!! Also, this episode is just so funny in general.
Season Four:
A River Runs Through Bob- the bickering in this one!! They’re so, so married. They overcome a huge problem together, and Linda gets to be the hero. Amazing.
Seaplane!— Hello??? Using infidelity in a storyline while also never having Bob or Linda consider cheating on one another is so genius. I like the argument they have that’s the heart of this episode, because both sides are understandable and I think it’s easy to empathize with them both.
Season Five:
Can’t Buy Me Math- I’m a sucker for Valentine’s Day, and I love Bob and Linda spending so much time trying to perfect theirs 😭 having romance be very messy and imperfect is so them, and it’s hilarious and sweet.
Adventures in Chinchilla-sitting- Bob and Linda having fun together by being lowkey mischievous is a favorite of mine. Also the kiss at the end??? Best boblin kiss.
Season Six:
Stand By Gene- I love Bob and Linda’s competitiveness with each other, and this one adds the extra element of Bob feeling guilty and realizing how proud he actually is of Linda doing well. The moral of like “we’re always on the same side, even when we’re not” GETS TO ME.
Season Seven:
Bob Actually- sue me, it’s another Valentine’s Day episode. I love Bob stepping sooo far out of his comfort zone to make Linda smile, and her reaction to his surprise is adorable. Obsessed with them.
Eggs For Days- Bob and Linda being sooo dumb and petty and competitive. It’s a good thing they married each other, because who else is going to get this hardcore about their children’s egg hunt?
Season Eight:
The Trouble With Doubles (/also The Date Escape? google says both titles)- A hallmark of long term relationships is handling frustrating situations together, and Bob and Linda being stuck with an annoying couple feels like such a realistic Marriage™️ problem.
Go Tina on the Mountain- Is there anything more on brand for Boblin then falling asleep on the couch together after eating copious amounts of cheese? No.
Are You There, Bob? It’s Me, Birthday- I love this little exploration of an introvert and an extrovert being in a relationship together! And I love how Bob and Linda both come to separate realizations about sacrifices they can make to make the other person happy
Season Ten:
The Ring (but not scary)- Bob is so, so excited to give Linda an anniversary gift she deserves, and Linda is so secure in their love that she doesn’t need one anyway. Yes, I’m still mad about this ending.
Season Eleven:
Romancing The Beef- I’m obsessed with how their lists of what they love each other consist of such small, domestic things.
Season Twelve:
Touch of Eval(uations)— literally my favorite boblin episode!!! Bob being so anxious about not being buried with Linda is a unique way of demonstrating how much he loves her and just wants to be with her forever. This episode makes me lose my mind.
Ferry on My Wayward Bob and Linda- Valentine’s Day episodes are their THING. Another instance of them enduring a difficult situation together, and the ending where they kiss and say I love you simply destroys my life.

I did @babsvibes's bob's burgers spreadsheet and these were my results :) not much to say about my favorite writers/directors because they're all pretty evenly rated (anyone who left the show in the early seasons might have a slight disadvantage just because i didnt enjoy those seasons as much but its not personal)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the season rankings definitely make sense lol I used 3 stars as a neutral point as in "this episode is good and I will rewatch it but its not one i particularly go out of my way to rewatch" with 5 stars being "one of my favorite episodes of the show" and 1 star being "I actively dislike this episode and don't rewatch it ever" so most seasons being overall 3 stars makes sense to me. I'm not shocked that season 1 is my least favorite, or that 13, 10 and 8 are my favorite seasons (with season 13 being my highest rated season just based on the amount of episodes rated five stars)
Tumblr media
episodes that I rated five stars:
dawn of the peck
can't buy me math
house of 1000 bounces
large brother, where fart thou?
the laser-inth
v for valentine-detta
the secret ceramics room of secrets
the hurt soccer
go tina on the mountain
are you there bob? it's me, birthday
as i walk through the alley of the shadow of ramps
the fresh princ-ipal
boys just wanna have fungus
a fish called tina
poops... i didn't do it again
bob belcher and the horrible, terrible, no good, very bad kids
die card, or card trying
y tu tina también
stuck in the kitchen with you
touch of eval(uations)
the spider house rules
show mama from the grave
the plight before christmas
cheaty cheaty bang bang
what a (april) fool believes
radio no you didn't
amelia
(didnt rate them objectively based on how good the episode was, just based on how much I enjoyed the episodes. make whatever assumptions you want about me based on this list)
episodes that i rated one star (to be fair to season one I made the base rating 2 stars so that only my least favorite season one episodes would be counted, even if they'd be lower if they were in another season):
human flesh
western spaghetti and meatballs
beefsquash
the unbearable like-likeness of gene
fort night
the equestranauts
the millie-churian candidate
sexy dance healing
cheer up, sleepy gene
roller? i hardly know her!
pig trouble in little tina
dream a little bob of bob
seven-tween again
the reeky lake show
(yes any episode w/ alex or millie almost automatically got added to the lowest rating. honestly I showed an incredible amount of restraint rating video killed the gene-io star as 2 instead of 1 because i didnt want to be too mean to alex and courtney. the gene mile was saved by jimmy jr and tina's hilarious subplot)

Hey there! What’s your favorite episode of Bob’s Burgers that no one ever seems to talk about?
Hi hi!!! 🥰
I LOVE THIS QUESTION OMG 🥺
I actually really enjoyed season 12 episode 11 Touch of Eval(uations) !! And I genuinely have yet to see anyone talk about it which makes me so sad tbh bc it was such a good episode 😭
Ms. Labonz is such an underrated character in general and I love that we finally got an episode featuring her!!
I really love how despite her rough exterior Ms. Labonz has a softer side shown when it’s revealed that she genuinely cares and pushes her students to do better (especially a certain bunny girl hehe)
Also the Boblin B plot was so wholesome in the end when Bob tells Linda he wants to be with her even in death. They’re the only couple ever 🥹💖
AND we got Mort screen time so that’s also a bonus!! >:3
While it’s probably not in my top ten (tbf its pretty hard when there’s so many good episodes out there hehrfsgh) but I still really loved it!!
Thank you so much for the ask babs!!! 😭💖💖💖

Lots of tina/jj asks already so maybe your fav boblin moments :D?
ooh! totally! :3
one boblin moment that absolutely KILLS me is in “The Unnatural” where they’re arguing over whether or not gene got a hit and it’s the FUNNIEST thing to me but also because even though they’re yelling and like pushing each other it’s in this really cute play-fighty way rather than an actually scary “oh god mom and dad are fighting” way and i just adore it so so much.
i also really really adore bob and lin’s interactions in “Something Old, Something New, Something Bob caters for You” where their roles kind of switch and bob is the hopeless (dependent) optimist and linda becomes the grounded realist. and seeing how much linda is trying to reassure bob his job is important regardless of being in charge of catering a wedding really shows how much linda supports bob’s dream and job not just because she’s his wife but because this job is truly something bob cares about and that matters just as much to her.
also i don’t remember what episode this was but bob was freaking out about killing teddy and linda being so ready to cover up for bob out of being a supportive wife is both the funniest and cutest thing ever like she is ACTUALLY a ride or die wife and bob going “linda.” LIKE HAHAHDFBSNDH.
but two of my most favorite boblin moments are in “Touch of Eval(uations)” where bob said it didn’t matter where they died so long as they were together 😭 bro the way i SCREAMED. and i think it was “Video Killed the Gene-io Star” when bob started freaking out about the potential murderer in his restaurant and wanted linda to hold him like BRO THAT WAS SO FUCKING TENDER AND SWEET LIKE THEY’RE SO CUTE AND FOR WHAT.
and every bob’s burgers end credit where bob and linda are dancing together thank you loren bouchard can we all collectively thank loren boucha-

What’s your favorite episode to watch for Mort and Teddy together, for just Mort, and for just Teddy? (It’s okay if the three questions are all answered with one episode if that’s the case!)
Okay so one of my favorite Teddy and Mort episodes is The Hauntening, because to me, it just feels very much like its obvious that they’re good friends. Aside from the fact that its easy for me to imagine the two of them (along with the others of course!) spent a lot of time together planning. Then there’s the scene where Teddy’s all “stop it Mort, you know I startle easily!” I know I’ve probably said it before, but that just…idk it tells me that they know each other, rather well I’d say.
I’d also like to add Drumforgiven to this list because the way Mort just doesn’t seem fazed in the slightest by Teddy being…Teddy I just really interesting to me.
I love Teddy’s little scene in The Reeky Lake Show. I also really love Teddy in Driving Big Dummy because I feel like it reveals a lot about his character.
I love Mort in pretty much everything. See, this one’s hard since he’s in so few episodes, especially lately. I pretty much always have his wiki open on my phone to see what episodes he’s even in (like any good super obsessed little Mort-loving freak would), I love him in The Hauntening, I also love Weekend at Morts (which is so long ago, I know!) and Touch of Eval(uations) in season 12 just because I love when he talks funerals ❤️

"Bob's Burgers" Season 12 Episode Ranking Rewatch
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 12:
Tumblr media
Average (Mean) Score: 4.18
Mode (Most Common) Ranking: 4
Ranking Breakdown: 6 5s 14 4s 2 3s
Season as a whole thoughts:
I guess the best way I can think of to describe this season is solid but not spectacular. As has generally been the case with the last couple of seasons, there are several episodes that have grown on me upon repeat viewing. There's even a few I watched multiple times during the course of this rewatch and ended up increasing their score. I find most of these episodes to be pleasant and I'm happy to rewatch them, but there aren't a lot that would end up on a list of my favorite episodes.
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Driving Big Dummy": This was one where I increased its grade after a repeat viewing. What moves it up into 4 territory for me is how much I love the ending- Bob realizing that Teddy isn't lonely but is actually really good at connecting with people in his own Teddy way- and that Bob actually kind of envies that since he is kind of gruff and unsocial. The episode turning out this way genuinely surprised me when I first watched it- I expected it to be another episode where Teddy came across looking kind of pathetic and obsessed with Bob (like the "Just the Trip" subplot that I strongly dislike) and I'm really glad it wasn't.
"Seven-tween Again": Probably my favorite episode of this season, one of my favorite Gene episodes, and maybe the most I've ever related to Gene. For me, no matter what age I am I always have moments like Gene does in this episode, where I wish I could just be in a younger, "simpler", more familiar part of my life...and I always realize that I don't actually want that and I can only keep going forward. Also, the Gretchen subplot plot is hilarious, especially the part where Bob is coming back from the stylist and Louise tells him that Gretchen killed Linda (and he's next!)
"Touch of Eval(uations)": The sleeper hit of this season! I only vaguely remembered it, but really loved it. I honestly think it's one of my top Louise episodes. I love the fact that she successfully leads the students in taking collective action to exploit their power over the teachers for the whole school day (there's my future labor union activist!) and I also love her crisis of conscience after turning in her bad evaluation of Ms. Labonz and her scheme to correct it. And I love that Ms. Labonz really has Louise's number by pointing out that: 1. she's really bright but doesn't always apply herself and 2. anger and vengeance really motivate her (there is a reason Louise has so many enemies.) Also, Gene's "I didn't do school so good. Now I do school not so bad." lives in my head rent-free; I think it's great way to describe mild improvement in something.
"Video Killed the Gene-io Star": As I've mentioned before, one of the things this rewatch has made me appreciate more about the show is how Courtney and Gene's relationship has evolved, and this episode is another good example of that. But what really puts this one over the top for me is Billy Bandana subplot. Briefcases with weird stuff in them (and, especially, briefcases that only contain food) scratch a really specific comedy itch for me. And Linda and Teddy are hilarious in this subplot (especially Teddy's idea of normal business stuff that would be in a briefcase.) Definitely one of the best ever restaurant subplots to a school-centered episode in my book!
"Ancient Misbehavin'": "Pancake, my number one snuggle pal, this is for you..." So, I never would've written my first fic if Pancake had never been introduced. And if I never wrote that fic I likely wouldn't have joined tumblr or made the friends I've made here. So, how I can I not love this episode? But everyone's favorite stuffed flounder aside, I think it is a fantastic episode. I LOVE Louise, Rudy, and Millie as a trio and hope that is explored again in future episode. I particularly love the way that Rudy was portrayed in this episode- he wasn't a reluctant participant in the scheme, at some points he was even more enthusiastic than Louise (he really wants that wind-up dolphin!) And I like that when he gets concerned about the consequences of being caught, Louise actually ends up sharing them (well, maybe not concerned about going to jail, but definitely realizing there were consequence she hadn't thought of). ALSO: this episode introduces my other favorite 4th grader ship: Arnlee! Look at Arnold Evans and Kaylee Morganstern dancing at the symposium at the end?! Aren't they so freaking cute?! Don't you just want to a read a fic about the backstory to that moment?!? (No, you're normal? Well, very well, but I have one in case you change your mind.)
"Interview with a Pop-pop-pire": This was another sleeper hit. I remembered its premise but very little else about it. As with a lot of the other anthology episodes, I love it! I particularly enjoyed the unique animation style of Linda's "Giving Tree" inspired story- and I really loved the conflict and reconciliation between Bob and Big Bob (stories about them always get to me- "difficult history but we're trying to get along better" father-son dynamics really hit near my heart). And we learned some lore about Bob's mom! Finally!
"The Spider House Rules": Another episode that I moved up from a 3 to a 4 upon another viewing. I just think it's sweet (and the Bob trying to make other dad friends subplot is pretty funny). I definitely headcanon that Louise gets a parentally approved pet spider in her early teens (after wearing them down from repeated, unsuccessful requests for a dog).
"Clear and Present Ginger": Both storylines have lots of good laughs, and I really think that Linda's dynamic with Gayle, Gretchen, and Ginger is interesting- it honestly reminds me of a way I was with sometimes friends when I was a kid- I had friends I knew from different places (church, school, cousins) and I never wanted them to all get together for some reason. Like I just related to them all differently? So, Linda's plot made me think that maybe that kind of thinking is a bit more common than I realized (or I'm weird in the same way as Linda Belcher, which is also good).
"A-Sprout A Boy": Like with "Driving Big Dummy", this was another one where I was pleasantly surprised by the ending- Bob realizing that Gene was actually doing something interesting with Purrbo, and that he should've given Gene more of the benefit of the doubt- didn't feel like the predictable sitcom ending for this story, and I really enjoyed it for that reason.
"Some Like It Bot (two-parter)": I feel like I'm outside of the mainstream of the fandom on this one but I don't love it, especially part one. I totally think that it is well-made: the production design is great, the songs are outstanding, it's probably a good parody of "Blade Runner" (which I haven't scene in 20+ years) but I just find it boring. I think it just resonates emotionally more with others than it does for me. I like part 2 better, I think since more of it takes place in reality rather than Tina's story, and it's always fun for Yuli to have a larger role. Also, I hate the fact that we never learn who did the Bob's-bashing graffiti in the bathroom! (My theory is Jimmy Pesto paid someone to do it)
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
I didn't talk about "Stuck in the Kitchen with You" but it's end credits sequence is in the top-5 for me! Super-catchy song and a great tribute to Saturday morning superhero cartoons!

I wanted to give you an actual ask, unlike last time, haha (hopefully this is a fun one).
What're some of your favorite end credits songs of the show? A few of mine include (but are not limited to, because I know I will forget a bunch that I love):
--"Doing a Dance ('Cause I've Got Pesto in My Pants)" from Season 9, Episode 15, "The Fresh Princ-Ipal") (this one lives rent free in my head oh my god)
--"Wonder Wharf (Wharf of Wonder)" from Part One of the Season 4 "Wharf Horse" finale
--"I Love U So Much (It's Scary)" from Season 6, Episode 3, "The Hauntening"
--"Buenos Dias Como Estas (Me Llamo Tina)" from Season 6, Episode 6, "The Cook, the Steve, the Gayle, & Her Lover"
--"Goblins, Ghouls, Ghosts, & Bears" from Season 12, Episode 3 "The Pumpkinening"
--"Loft Bed" from Season 12, Episode 7, "Loft in Bedslation"
--Teddy's cover of "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" from Season 7, Episode 2 "Sea Me Now" (this one is definitely S-Tier)
--"I'll Be Around" from Season 12, Episode 11 "Touch of Eval(uations)"
--"Morse Code" From Season 9, Episode 9, "UFO No You Didn't"
--"Best Couple Friends" from Season 8, Episode 14 "The Trouble with Doubles" (seriously, why did this one get stuck in my head so easily?)
"We're Just Children Watching You" from Season 11, Episode 11 "Romancing the Beef"
--"Turkey, I Need You Beside Me" from Season 11, Episode 7 "Diarrhea of a Poopy Kid"
And now I need to physically restrain myself from adding more so you can actually answer this with other outros, hahaha
PLEASE the Pesto in my pants song fricking lives rent free in my head too
Thank you for the ask 😭 I was so born to answer this 🤌 The bobs burgers outros are just never not amazing ya know?
• Basically any outro that's like visually stylized 👀: Horse Wharf I? Yes without my Zeke? Eight grade runner? Perfecta! The animation sequences are just so creative and the music is hella epic (hello? Linda's vocals in Horse Wharf? Mind blowing!)
• Taffy Butt: my boy Jimmy Jr dancing like a happy idiot sabotaging the animation budget plus the most catchy hilarious song ever? Gimme gimme gimme
• 99 Red Balloons: this song got stuck in my head for daysss. And the slow mo gig is just too golden and awesome. Fantastic way to end a season 😭
• The Gene Mile: l-look at Bob, look at him in his fanboy CAKE T-shirt, crying jamming to the art of high fiving. Ain't that the most beautiful thing ever 🤣?
• Bad stuff happens in the bathroom: I meannn, no question right? Everyone (and I mean e v e r y o n e) singing and the camera zooming out and oh my god it's a fricking genius finale outro I'm-
• Hot pants rain dance: them muppets dancing and wiggling and having fun plus the song that sooo needs an extended version are just 😌👌
• I've got a Yum Yum: Linda is a national treasure. She's so dorky in this ep 😭😭😭
• Also Teddy's cover for Beyond the Sea: I've really got a soft spot for this Teddy ep and this outro's just too perfect
• Just what I needed: the way they end this ep is just really well done and so is the outro 🤌 I looove the singing and the kiss sequences :D
• Slumber Party Fashion Show: catchy tunes? Check. Iconic catwalk? Check. Also this ep is so good arghh

okay so i can.. kinda smell the boringness for tonights ep, just through the synopsis alone, which is heavily disappointing because i theorize after this it'll be another Anidom hiatus for the super bowl so it's going to be quite a wait before we get a new episode after tonight. Kinda like how they did last year, after airing Gene's Christmas Break, it was Touch of Eval-uations and then it was a long asf break before the Valentine's Day ep, Ferry on Wayward Bob and Linda.

🎵 I'll be tossed in a volcano
When I'm dead, how can I say no?
It's explosive, it's expansive
It's exclusive and it's new
It'll be so nice to think that I'll never be extinct
So much harder to forget than you
Yes, I'll be around
I'll be the hot new thing in town
Unlike you and you and you
I'll be around
Unlike you, Bob, I'll be around 🎵

You know that line in the movie where Tina says “Still trying to catch that chicken nugget in his mouth. His whole eighth grade year.”
Tumblr media
Here’s Jimmy Jr. doing exactly that in the background of Touch of Eval(uations). Are there more Easter eggs of JJu and his nugget mission?
