i fucking HATE Rod like with a burning passion omfg i need to teleport to the tottmnt world and find him because holy shit it is ON FUCKING SITE.

I get that he’s supposed to have a similar character role to timothey from the 2012 series but. Ugh. Even in the 2012 series, i didn’t care for Timothy that much. while i wish he had a proper ending and ill admit his character had a certain charm, he was just kinda meh to me.

ROD, HOWEVER. jesus man, hes selfish and knows hes rich. he KNOWS how much power he has and he is SO. OBNOXIOUS.

and Mikey DIDNT WANNA MUTATE HIM he said no SEVERAL TIMES and he was so nice about it too, but this FUCKING ROD was like “oooh just a bit of your blood” his BLOOD omfg.

OK. SO. ROD. thr mechazoids recognised him as a mutant,right? Yknow who else is a mutant but looka fully human? 2012 april. Do you see my vision. Rod being an experiment by cynthia, prolly part utrom/kraang, let out into society to be like an "insise scoop" in order to take over, but lost him as an infant, leading to him being taken in by either some random family. He ended up in the opposite senario, helping to destroy humans.

Also he has heterochromia which is, like, super rare. So maybe cynthia just fucked up idk :/

the one thing that bugs me from tales (which i could kind of glean from how they marketed it in the first place) is bishop as a character. like its a bit ehhhhh to be all proud of your diverstiy "bipoc women in stem who wants to help the disabled" on uh.... the character who exists to be a shady xenophobic government suit whos been hellbent on killing all aliens/mutants even if it means killing humans in the process. like i know bishop hasnt always been the bad guy (which also hasnt always worked tbh) but making THAT character the diverse one is.... like its just not well thought out? especially since she still ends up at the EPF at the end. shes still in that role. even if theres a secret double agent plotline later its not great cuz shes there filling that role for now.

and they tried their best to make it just a spur of the moment traumatic event happened that she blames mutants for but it doesnt work that well. shes still got the funding from rod's dad. her life wasnt even ruined, she did lose one robot and that WAS sad but.. idk. if it was her actual sister or something it would have worked better? like her sisters personality in that robot that she couldnt make another one of? or like i think it needed to be that rod's dad was more evil or something and cut her funding cut her project cuz that aspect just doesnt work the way they did it. like she's too sympathetic and then too evil. like i think theres a world in which this could have worked? but the way its written is shallow. if that makes sense.

and again they reallyyyy marketed the diversity in her which is why its worse

Tottmnt spoilers!!

I love the show and all of its funny and angsty parts but one thing that I think has been overlooked by most of us is how the turtles are treated by society

On surface level we all assumed by the crumbs we got at the end of mm that they're treated like normal people like they wanted but tottmnt goes out of its way to prove otherwise

Most citizens as a whole treats them as celebrities, but the are treated like different celebrities based on their age, for example, teens and kids treat them like fictional characters come to life, As seen in episode one at the party where there was a Donatello cosplayer. Adults treat them as a path to fame or something that needs to be studied, like those two cops who pretty much refused to help Donnie because they wanted fame, and people like Rod who treat them highly, but as a science experiment.

Then there's the criminals and overlords who either want them dead or as a product to buy or sell, or the mutants and other enemies who put a stain on their name, forcing them to fight to keep their current lives and subsequently putting them back into the spotlight of the city.

I think all of this is pretty sad because the show constantly reminds both us and the turtles that they aren't normal, when that was the whole plan. And if Mikey actually wasn't joking when he dropped that "I miss who I was" line, they know this. It's a nice way of telling us that the ending wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, and the balance is fragile, waiting for whatever is in the second movie to destroy it.
