More genuine answer: I'm an aro-ace writer with a long long streak of gen-fic. Shipping doesn't interest me. I don't hate it; it just doesn't click for me at all. I joke that the only way romance ends up in the story is if it's a plot-necessity (Tetsuo and Jun are there because 'married man suspected of having an affair' is what pulls Reigen into the entire Mogami-possession plot. The Kageyama parents are married because they're, well, the parents. Teru and Mei's relationship is a joke until it's plot-relevant.)

So to me, I'm not writing Ritsu and Teru's relationship as a ship. But also? This is all pretend. It's all transformative. This is for fun. I absolutely know that if I were a ship-writer, Riteru would be the obvious choice. I know they're one angry-kiss away from being someone's enemies to lovers fic. So if you look at Ritsu and Teru in ABoT and say "they're holding hands, to me", go right ahead, go hog-wild, come play Barbies with me.

i have! several times actually. personally i prefer to view jean jacket as an unknown alien species rather than any kind of angel or mythical creature in human folklore because i feel like it gives it more of an unsettling factor and also is closer to the film's themes of spectacle, predatory behavior, denial and dishonesty in the face of the ugly truth, and the exploitation of people and animals in the entertainment industry for the sake of financial and social gain and the pursuit of personal fulfilment through pleasing others at any cost. to me, viewing jean jacket as an angel plays into the need to ignore the horrifying reality of the situation and repackage it as something it isn't in order to make it more palatable. however i know that jordan peele said he took inspiration from the designs in neon genesis evangelion when working on jean jacket's appearance, so i can see how a comparison could be drawn.

29. Knight death that makes you the saddest?

Lancelot.

It was bad enough that he died in the first place but he died TWICE. And the second time he was being used by Morgana and everybody thought it was actually him acting on his own will :(

He died with a ruined image because, for some reason, the show writers never had Merlin explain to Arthur that it wasn’t really Lancelot.

On top of that, we get that heartbreaking scene of the real Lancelot thanking Merlin for putting him to rest and UGHH my heart can’t handle it.

32. Favorite Merlin fic you've read in recent memory?

Oh I’m really enjoying Make It Flow (Everything In the Afterglow) ! I eagerly await the next chapter of this Modern!Merthur fic about Merlin having recently inherited Gaius’s bookshop after his death. Merlin returns back to his hometown, Ealdor, to run the bookshop and meets lawyer Arthur and they kiss kiss fall in love (I assume atleast, it’s not finished yet).

36. Underrated friendship?

Hard to pick just one but Merlin and Gwen’s friendship is a big one for me. They were such cute besties in the earlier seasons and then Gwen becomes Queen and we hardly see their friendship anymore after that :(

i know that there's a theory floating around that we're still stuck inside a dream in the 2.3 quest. but i would like to counterpoint that. we are, instead, acting out a show.

as a way to cover up what the family did better, some people decided to make a show "ending" as to what "really happened" in penacony during those few hours. the characters we're seeing aren't actually us but instead actors. that's why some things seem very similar to the "wake up" like last time and why Welt says he was woken up by Jing Yuan.

Thinking about how all Copia wanted as a Cardinal was to be respected. He told himself that if he was in power, he wouldn't let others be belittled for their eccentricities and encourage everyone to be as genuine as possible. Even after he became Terzo's replacement, he stayed true to himself, hoping this would be the first step to reforming that harmful mindset. But as Nihil's health declined and Sister Imperator insinuated that he could be the next to ascend to papacy, Copia changed little bits about himself to be a more desirable candidate. He wanted that power to do good and figured a little bit of change wouldn't hurt if that meant he could help others.

After he became Papa, however, the pressure of adhering to the precedent his predecessors set was far more powerful than he could have imagined. Primo had and unmatched pious devotion to the Clergy and the Ghost project in general. Secondo had an intimidating stage presence that could suck the air out of the room with a single glance. Terzo was an expert at engaging the crowd, drawing in an audience like no Papa ever had before. Copia felt as if he was lacking. Many saw him as a great performer, yes, but under qualified, with no niche other than being the "weird" one. He was the first Papa to not be of the Emeritus bloodline, according to Nihil anyway. Nearly everyone else knew that Copia was a bastard. A son whose father never accepted him, because doing so would mean accepting his failures as a partner. Once Nihil was dead, however, Copia (endorsed by Sister, of course) had no issue airing out Nihil's dirty laundry. He embraced being an Emeritus, but as he did so, he felt aspects of himself fall away.

A new name. A new wardrobe. A new face.

What happened to the Cardinal? What happened to the self-made man who managed to ascend the ranks of the Ministry without any blood ties? What happened to the man that could prove that even someone as awkward as he was could have a measure of authority? Was he even himself anymore? Was this new power he wielded making him forget why he even wanted it in the first place? Was his goal of acceptance being consumed by blind ambition?

This realization made him desperately cling to anything that connected him to his past. Juice boxes. Video games. Tricycle rides around the Ministry. Anything he could do that would have gotten him criticized for being childish. He was still the same Copia, right?
