Tfw you finally come out of a several year long retirement, work hard to overcome your trauma, and train vigorously to become a F1 racer, only for the ride you’re sponsoring to shit itself and not operate the whole year

This was a piece I made back in august when the announcement was made that TT2 would not reopen this year. I thought it would be funny to redraw the shinji chair meme with Della, my TT2 OC, being completely devastated that the rollercoaster she’s been stuck sponsoring ever since she was a dragster racer just decided to give her more trouble.

Poor Della, she just can’t catch a break can she?

it’s like 1 am and i should be sleeping right now but i’m done gatekeeping this project from you guys. i’m just gonna yap, so i don’t expect this to blow up.

i’m making a set of coaster ocs based on the amusement park Cedar Point. I’ve been going there for years and it brings me joy. I’m thinking about all the special abilities and stuff i could give these ocs based on their respective coasters.

for example. Atticus, my Iron Dragon oc. he’s kind of an asshole to the other coasters as a result of said coasters bullying him for being “not as thrilling” (because the Iron Dragon has a 4/5 rating on the thrill scale rather than most coasters being a 5/5). since his coaster is the Iron Dragon, i’m thinking of adding to his design and giving him metal wings, horns, and the ability to breathe smoke and fire.

Another example is my newest addition to the set, Sylvan, my GateKeeper oc. He’s a griffin hybrid since that’s the main theme of the coaster. i have yet to think about personality though.

one last example is the Gemini twins, Aurora and Nova. Aurora is the red one, and Nova is the blue one. I’m thinking of giving them some sort of connection to the stars, but i don’t know exactly what i’ll do.

There’s also Callum, the Raptor oc and Axel, the Top Thrill Dragster oc, but i’ll yap about them another day. alright that’s it BYEEEE

So I got to ride Top Thrill 2 three times last Friday, the day before it closed for “train modifications”.

This coaster is amazing!!! I rode in the front, back, and row 6, and while I liked the back the best, every seat is amazing. The launches aren’t punchy at all, but they seem to have a constant acceleration that impresses with each pass of the LSMs. The backwards launch into the spike is when it really starts picking up speed, and then you hit the spike, and the peninsula is just sucked out from under you, and then you’re just free floating with the whole point and lake Erie around you. Then you fall back down, hit the 3rd launch and are taken to the top speed, woosh up the top hat and then spiral down. In the back row, the whip feels like it is at the maximum allowable force - I was fully bent over the side of the train, and with my arms up, I get why they modified that one support. Insane head chopper moment. Then you coast down the rest of the straightaway and slowly come to a rest, and then you get right back in line.

I was disappointed all day Saturday that it did not open, but 9 laps on Maverick and the last ride of the night on Millie eased that disappointment.

I can’t wait to return after its reopening is announced!

While the recent demolition of Kingda Ka's got me down a little bit (rest in peace), at least Top Thrill 2 can finally have its "tallest roller coaster in the world" record back for the first time since 2005!

Cedar Point is offering a few “preview” days before actual opening day where pass holders can reserve a spot to come for a few hours and ride the new rollercoaster

I reserved a spot on May 1st!!!!

I only ever rode Top Thrill Dragster once before it closed because the line was always SO long. And the one time I rode it I was still in line for almost 3 hours. It was fun but a very short ride for a long long wait ya know

And I very much suspect Top Thrill 2 is going to be a similar case especially this first year it’s open

I’m Excited as hell to get to ride it with a much smaller crowd 🤩🤩🤩

For those of you who love coasters, Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point is getting a remake!!

No longer a "launched" coaster, it will instead use another hill to the rest to speed up the cars to go over the top at a height of 429 feet before creating the top and coming back to earth!!

It'll open in 2024!!

Here she is, dragsters new form for TT2! She is back and ready to go babyyyy 🏁 🏎️

This is also the reveal of her new name, Della Monroe! now I don’t have to just call her “dragster” anymore lmao

Also this time I also included the car she races with, since TT2 went with a formula one theme I chose to give her a F1 car. The patterns on the car were inspired by the TT2 train.

Short summary of her backstory:

Della was a sponsored top fuel dragster racer for cedar point to promote their newest attraction in 2003, which just so happened to be themed to dragsters. Della was a fiery, charismatic and competitive racer with a passion for her craft, and it showed as she was a very talented racer. However, in 2019 (before the TTD ride incident) she would suffer a near fatal accident during one of her races in the Sandusky speedway. After this, she retired from racing due to her trauma. For years she stayed away from racing, but she would have to confront her fears in 2024 when cedar fair approached her once again to be their sponsored formula 1 racer for Top Thrill 2. She was hesitant at first, but after receiving support from her peers and long time fans, she decided to come out of her shell and race again. Now, she’s back to being her old self again, and takes pride in what she does.
