I have an idea for why roller coaster guardians exist! In the lore of the universe, roller coasters are kind of things that grow up from the ground of their own accord and need human interaction to keep them stable, otherwise they keep growing and might eventually come to life and act unpredictably, even attacking. Guardians are designated people who absorb the bulk of the energy from the growth, that is their job when the rides aren’t being operated or are in maintenance. The riders of a coaster, visitors to the park also absorb the energy, but since they can’t be there 24/7 the coaster guardian does it when they aren’t there. Roller coasters still need to be maintained and worked on, in their natural state the growths just look like shapeless metal trees. Their goal is to inflict a certain emotion on humans, and they don’t care how. Turning them into tourist attractions is just a way of ensuring they don’t rip themselves out of the ground and go on kaiju rampages to have their needs met. They are neither alive nor inanimate. What do you think?
