Glam Masterpost
I am feeling like making a glamour master post so here we go!
1: My sage glam. Makai moon guide, Isnea Phis weapon.
2: Black Mage. "Inspired" by Sadu and also the canon outfit for my Lizzer that she wore at the start of her journey!
3: Reaper. Not really happy with this one, just defaulting to Makai gear. Still looking for a new outfit that isnt relic armor here.
4: Samurai! Mix of lvl 90 artifact and last year Heavensturn armor, I like the softer look of the top and the small dagger at its back after playing Nioh 2.
5: Summoner, using the exarchic casting set and the crafted Ravana weapon. Not much else to say and one of the few sets with big helmets.
6: Astrologian. Using the Hakuko Dogi set, I love the slightly mischievous look of the mask at the side of her head.
7: White Mage with the Deepshadow set! This time going for something along the lines of armored caster or classical D&D Clerics. Gotte use some armor and protection when bashing peoples head in!
8: Red Mage in the Radiant gear! Once again going for a bit more of an armored look, but this time with a darker and more evil feel.
9: Dragoon, using the level 90 relic armor! A bit lower effort but I like the sleek look and it looks great in my usual Dalamud Red.
10: Dancer! Using the Thavnairian set and Enchufla its purely for show-off and performing. Gotte be careful when dancing in it, the Lop Hop sure has a lot of high raise legs that do not mesh well with this sets (lack of) pants.
Plate 11-20 will follow!

The power of glamour lets us dress up our characters in any way we want! With that in mind, do you always have your character(s) tastes in mind when you put together glams for them, or are there ensembled you've put together they'd absolute despise? Bonus points if you have pictures!
Asking the hard hitting questions. The simple answer to this is Yes and no. With a character like Iris, someone who loves fashion and dressing up in general, canonically she could be in anything without too much fuss from the character. However, what it is will depend on what the occasion. Cut below as this is long and a bit spoilery.
I would like to start out where I as well as the character disagreed to wear and why. The biggest thing I think that me the creator and Iris the character can agree to is showing her midriff outside of swimsuits. Luckily this list is very short in her canon as I can only think of one example where we ran into this.
When she first became a dragoon and was rewarded the Drachen Armor. She disliked that the armor shows off her midriff when she has to fight dragons and she would be dressed like Estinien which is a fashion forward person's worse nightmare. I agreed and changed her outfit to cover it up while still having that HW feel for her story by going with the Titanium Cuirass of Maiming.
Likewise, the level 80 Dancer Artifact top is something that she would dislike wear in front of strangers or those she doesn't want to see her like that. this is obliviously noncannonical for Iris the character.
So what does she like? Well if she's in normal day to day, going to take care of business at the shop, she'll be in her proprietress outfit. She finds it suits her quite nicely and it fits her standing as a shop owner and lady of a high house.
Now if she isn't running her shop and is around the city of Ishgard, then it's likely she is in normal noble women gowns, covered in fur and thick wools.
For warmer climates, you may see her in her more lighter clothing like her ruffle skirt with lightweight shirt.
Well that's for her casual outfits. What about her armor during her journey? Well....
ARR:
She was a standard girl that knew a bit of healing. Just starting out, even if she didn't want to be an adventurer. She's just dressing how she would normally dress as.
HW:
I kind of when over this one above. She didn't like the open space on the Drachen Armor nor looking like Estinien. We just cover that up and let her have a lance.
SB:
She goes back to healing but through Astrology instead of conjury. Seeing that she is going to be in Ala Mhigo and Doma, she decided on showing some skin in favor of being cooled down.
Shb:
Depending on what was needed in her fights, She either went as a Dragoon or as an Astrologian in the fights on the first. For dragoon, she was more armored up as she expects the sineaters to be fearsome foes.
With her Astrologian outfit, She figured to dress in the stars so that she can channel it a bit better. We are not sure if Astrology works that way but she likes to think it does.
EW:
For her dragoon appearance in Endwalker, she wanted something that lightweight considering she would be in Thavnair for a while. She's very confused how Estinien can be in his usual armor without feeling overheated.
Her Astrologian appearance is more formal in the cases where she has to interact with Sharlyan's Forum. She figured that it help present herself to not be a murderous savage.
DT (tentative):
Going to Tural is very much her honeymoon vacation with Stephanivien as they just got married (yes he is with her in my HC for DT as a treat.) So instead of the usual armor, she's more dressed for traveling.
(As a creator's note, this glam is an all role glam, which works great for me as I have yet to decide on my main job in Dawntrail due to the possible rework on both Astrologian and Dragoon.)
Outside of her casual glams for her day to day life as well as her combatant life, she dresses up just for the fun of it. In fact, All Saints Wake is her favorite holiday. As her Mun, I try to keep up with holidays and special events for glaming her up to fit the season. I haven't felt too inspired as of late but here are some of my favorites I had done.
Thanks for the ask @gatheredfates

The Doctor Who FFXIV Glamour Collection - Masterpost + Commentary
Alright, here it is. I’ve teased it, I’ve talked about it, and now you’re getting it: the Doctor Who glamour collection. In case you didn’t know, two of my most persistent hyperfixations are Doctor Who and Final Fantasy XIV. Heck, I even wrote a crossover between them. Then, I made a meme post assigning a job (in-game class) to each Doctor. Which of course, planted an idea in my head: why not make an outfit for each of those jobs I assigned, each based on the corresponding Doctor? And thus the Doctor Who glamour collection was born.
Note that while the outfit is based on the respective Doctor, changing your character’s design/race/gender (beyond switching haircuts and minor stuff) costs real-life money, so you’re stuck with my Au Ra gal as the model. I did make an effort to at least have a matching hair color, though. (With occasional highlights for spice.)
I’ve made each outfit its own post (mainly because tumblr image cap), and will be linking them from here, the “masterpost” (which will actually come out last.)
First Doctor - Scholar
Second Doctor - Bard
Third Doctor - Monk
Fourth Doctor - Dancer
Fifth Doctor - Paladin
Sixth Doctor - Red Mage
Seventh Doctor - Black Mage
Eighth Doctor - Dragoon
War Doctor - Dark Knight
Ninth Doctor - Astrologian
Tenth Doctor - Gunbreaker
Eleventh Doctor - White Mage
Twelfth Doctor - Sage
Thirteenth Doctor - Summoner
If you just want to see the pretty pictures, click on those links! Everything below here will just be explanations and details.
A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into acquiring the gear for each set, leveling each job to a high enough level to use said gear (can’t glamour a higher level gear’s appearance onto a lower level gear), and of course, taking the pictures. Taking the pictures was difficult for several reasons, but the major lynchpin was the fact that I used external tools (aka mods, which are kind of a no-no) to give an era-appropriate look for some of the shots of each Doctor. Hopefully it comes off well!
Oh, and if you’re curious: the most expensive single gear pieces were War and 9’s chest pieces. Damn modern-looking gear is always pricey! I dropped a lot of money at the Aesthetician to change haircuts, too.
The specific setup for the eras was as followed:
1st/2nd: Monochrome, RetroCRT, Film Grain, sometimes Cathode
3rd/4th: VHS_RA (chroma blur at 20), Colourfulness, LumaSharpen, Radiant GI
5th/6th/7th: VHA_RA (chroma blur at 10) Colourfulness, LumaSharpen, Radiant GI, Film Grain, sometimes Cathode
War: LumaSharpen, Colourfulness, Tint (Sepia)
8/Nu Who: LumaSharpen, Colourfulness, Radiant GI, and occasionally HexLensFlare
The gear and dye used for each glam will be listed in its corresponding post.
If people are interested, I might consider doing glams and photo shoots for the Fugitive, Fourteenth, Fifteenth, and/or any other extended universe Doctors! I also have some ideas for some companions that I might use.
Here’s some extended reasoning on the job choices for each Doctor, including both lore and in-game mechanics:
First Doctor as Scholar: Scholar is a healer, and in fact one of the first healer jobs in FFXIV, so I figured it would make sense to give the first Doctor a job that closely aligned with the fact that they’re, y’know, the Doctor. But, with regards to gameplay, Scholar’s kit is considered by many to be a little janky. So, perfect, for the wobbliest-set days of the First Doctor!
Second Doctor as Bard: Bard is very much a support class, which keeps with the theme of sticking close to Doctor-y jobs early on. Otherwise: yeah, it’s because of the recorder. Also, the Second Doctor is a bit more trickster-y, and Bard is a job that involves planning ahead and also keeping well on top of all your cooldowns, which I think Two would be able to pull off!
Third Doctor as Monk: It’s because of the Venusian Aikido. And all the spirituality in his era, as well, but mainly the Aikido. Monk is considered to be one of the more difficult jobs to play, to the point of your computer’s frame rate factoring into extreme high-end play, but if any Doctor could manage that, it would be the Third.
Fourth Doctor as Dancer: I will freely admit this is one of the more arbitrary choices. Overall, I think the Dancer job’s vibes and flow fit well with Four’s Bohemian spirit and flowing scarves.
Fifth Doctor as Paladin: Paladin is seen as kind of the most vanilla job in the game with the most straightforward flavoring, which I thought fit Five’s vibes. Paladins are the typical sword-and-board job, but I chose to not display the shield, to better evoke a cricket bat. And, as Paladin’s name implies, it has better party defense buffs than, say, Dark Knight, which does fit a Doctor with as crowded a TARDIS as the Fifth.
Sixth Doctor as Red Mage: Totally not biased here, Red Mage is one of my two mains, but regardless of that it’s a perfect fit for Sixie. Red Mage is a damaging caster job, but is actually consistently the weakest caster in exchange for great utility, including the best resurrection spell in the game. A flashy mage with a support focus is perfect for our loud technicolor shouty man with a heart of gold! Red Mage’s Limit Break (big super move) is kind of infamous for being so bright that for the few seconds when it’s going off, it’s difficult to see what’s going on in the fight, sometimes leading to deaths… which is very funny and fitting.
Seventh Doctor as Black Mage: Probably the easiest and most obvious job choice on this entire list, Black Mage is considered a difficult job that takes a lot of time to master, and often requires you to plan out your movements and attacks in advance to react to the mechanics of the fight. (In some of the most difficult fights in the game, Black Mages will often plan out every button they push for the first several minutes in order to maximize the effectiveness they’re getting out of every resource in their kit.) This makes Black Mage the no-brainer choice for our favorite little master manipulator. (Alas, no umbrella staff in FFXIV… yet.)
Eighth Doctor as Dragoon: I originally had Eight as a Reaper, but in trying to take the pictures, the vibes just didn’t match. So I pivoted him to the job that shares Reaper’s gear: Dragoon. Gonna be honest, this one was just vaguely gothic, and also what are vortisaurs if not time vortex dragons?
War Doctor as Dark Knight: Dark Knights have the aesthetic of a brooding edgelord, but lore-wise, they gain their power from their desire to protect the innocent and punish the wicked: a desire born from love. Fitting for a vilified Doctor who only ever wanted to do what was right…
Ninth Doctor as Astrologian: Astrologians use magical power channeled from distant stars to cast time magic, predict the future, and heal the wounded. Fitting for basically any Doctor, but especially so for the one who delivers the line about feeling the turn of the Earth. Furthermore, Astrologians deal the least damage of any job in the game: perfect for the most pacifistic and peace-seeking Doctor of them all.
Tenth Doctor as Gunbreaker: Here’s a fun one, a gun “breaker” for the “Man Who Never Would [Fire A Gun]”. What weapon does a Gunbreaker use? Oh yeah, a Gunblade. More like “The Man Who Totally Would And In Fact Has.” I think this juxtaposition highlights the Tenth Doctor’s emotional, even vengeful nature… and to add another layer: while Gunbreaker is a flashy, high-damage job, it is, at the end of the day, a Defender job. Calling back to Five’s Paladin, perhaps? (Also, Gunbreakers wear long coats, and the Tenth Doctor wears long coats.)
Eleventh Doctor as White Mage: White Mage is my other main, so I mean it with love when I say White Mages are the epitome of healers with a god complex, who mainly only keep the party alive to feel that sweet sweet satisfaction of saving peoples’ lives… and also to charge up their super big attack that can only be charged by healing. Meant to be a bit evocative of Eleven as the epitome of the Lonely God idea. Also, White Mage is a dead easy job to play, that even Eleven’s hyperactive brain could handle.
Twelfth Doctor as Sage: Okay, now we’re getting into the juicy stuff. Sage is the other shield healer in the game, the first being Scholar. But Sage is newer, flashier, more anime, and smoother to play. Are you thinking Twice Upon A Time yet? Sages, flavor-wise, are the epitome of combat medics… just as the Twelfth Doctor is the one to make the title of “Doctor of War” his own. Time is a flat circle! Thirteenth Doctor as Summoner: Also tying in with the First Doctor, Summoner and Scholar share an experience pool: so long as you have both unlocked, leveling one also levels the other. But while Scholar is a healer, Summoner is a (damage-dealing) caster that focuses on summoning entities to help you out. As the Thirteenth Doctor was born of the Twelfth Doctor’s resolution to his character arc- and with a chance meeting with the First- Thirteen being a Summoner would show how she carries that legacy but also has a fresh start with some fun new friends. (Also, Summoner is the easiest job in the game, and while Thirteen isn’t the most ADHD Doctor, she’s definitely up there.)

top 5 glams (for any of ur lil guys)
I'm logged into Surkie rn, so that's all I'm posting lmAO
u h.
1.
This outfit's fun because in in-game terms, it was originally supposed to be a dragoon glam that I didn't really vibe with but it wound up being an AMAZING paladin glam and just casual tanking thing that became part of Surkie's canon wardrobe. Basically it was her first dark knight look, it became her main look during stb and for anything that didn't involve heavy combat in post stb-post shb (that's where the behemoth king set comes in), and it remains her traveling and often casual clothes. I just really like how the Holy Rainbow shirts look <3
2.
THE ZONURESKIN LOOK okay so technically i made this in post shadowbringers, but it kind of backdated itself and became her Look through post-stormblood and shadowbringers if she dared to do stuff with dragoon, and tbh even into endwalker and now dawntrail. Obviously given the look's inspiration since it's a reprint of the Ala Mhigan set (fending but swapped to maiming), it's definitely something she got in Ala Mhigo and honestly probably something Lyse helped her get to better reinforce her side after the numerous injuries that threatened her ability to be a dragoon. Weapon for this is Dreizack Recollection, which was restored by her sister, Altan, and given to her and she Will Not abandon that spear because of that sentimentality. It continues the trend of maiming being white for her since it started as dragoon so it was just better for muddying up her silhouette when in the air (but also white to her is more the Death Color than black is because of her upbringing) but it's just become her Thing as the "Azure Dragoon Cloaked in Ivory".
3.
The Troian set >:3c This is Surkie's new heavy combat look as of post-endwalker when UT completely destroyed her old armor (not pictured at all). Admittedly, this has been in rotation the shortest but I got super attached to it. It's still on my WAR glam, but it just feels more in place with "active excursion in the void" versus "low stakes jaunt around Tural", hence the swap to the Edenmorn gear (also not pictured). I'm pvp pilled, so ofc the archfiend gauntlets are actually on the glamour plate. Love Cylva, so ofc we have the Deepshadow axe (modded somewhat), and it's just...a really fun look that I'm obsessed with since I could never wear something like this in other MMOs as a fem player. Lots of gender euphoria, you see.
4.
Ala Mhigan Striking my beloved. YEAH I love the Ala Mhigan/Zonure/Ovim set A LOT and I've used it quite a bit, and frankly the Ala Mhigan striking is SUCH a good piece for this. Also really love the Crystarium knuckles for this (the sam side is fine, just not as good without the knuckles but at least you can see the gloves), and the Moonward boots. Sorry, Edge, Surkie just wears your boots better 🤷 Also love how her arm and scars appear through the one sleeve, just TASTY. (yes the sword is modded, leave me be). Another thing Surkie likely got in Ala Mhigo that I'm probably gonna canonize, this time through W'khittri. It also continues maiming's trend of white relating to death, but it's got that balance of white And black (which she's always seen as more noble and benevolent due to Nhaaman influence)
5.
Deepshadow and Troian just the other way around now. Hat's modded, leave me alone, but yeah so uh. This is a modified form of one of Lillith's glams, it just wound up working better for Surkie. You could argue it's still the black = Nhaama stuff, but this honestly leans more into the conscious edginess she picked up from Eorzean influence around the colors. Also the most brown I use in any glam. IDC if the Shiva gun conflicts, it took me Way Too Fucking Long to get the damn thing (before enw came out and the coffers eased that process Considerably). Also she summons it, so it's not like she has it visible at all times. ...Yeah, anyways it's like an Amano cowboy and I'm here for it.
Also a sprout called the vanilla form of the outfit (which isn't too different) cool so I Win.
#original#final fantasy xiv#ffxiv#stardustdiver#wol#surkie#asks#asked#TY AGAIN FOR THIS ASK#i like showing off these glams i just dont have good photos so i had to grab them

okay post on fortuna glams going into dawntrail ^_^
FIRST is the glam I'm currently using for summoner and sage, just fun and simple and cute (to me) with the martial artist sleeved top and varsity skirt dyed storm blue with the isle farmhand's boots and I don't remember the specific name of the island sanctuary handpieces unfortunately so sorries
NEXT and I'm really proud of this one is the dancer glam which is her choice of ranged dps. moonward aiming top + boots with the endwalker dancer bottoms dyed orange to match the top + moonward tathlums
DRAGOON GEAR TIME which her melee dps will probably end up becoming viper when it releases because she was a dragoon all the way thru endwalker until like. after 6.4 I think. and then I played as dancer for a bit, and 6.5 was the first major patch I played her as anything else (summoner). but I made something for it anyway in case I decide to retcon her lore of her hanging up her lance to do other things and not really doing dragoon stuff As Much - the retcon will happen if dragoon looks awesome in 7.0 and/or I end up not liking viper that much. ANYWAY ignore how her lance is clipping thru the wall in the second pic. palaka vest of maiming + varsity skirt dyed dalamud red + crystarium gauntlets (also dyed I think but I can't remember what shade of brown so sorries again) + tiamat greaves the dragoon 89 footwear dyed soot black. threw in the tiamat greaves as a fun little dragoon nod and to actually incorporate some dragoon armor into the glam. also do you know how hard it was to color match the crystarium gauntlets to a shade of brown that was similar to the brown/bronze on the top omfg it sucked. nevertheless I persisted in the name of fashion and serving cunt.
TANK GEAR TIMEEEE this may or may not change who knows. but I had it styled on gunbreaker first before I snapped yesterday and HAD to make her a paladin. so here it is on gunbreaker. palaka top of fending + isle farmhand's cutoffs + gunbreaker 89 boots. on paladin I haven't figured out the boot situation yet because the rebel/urban boots continue to elude me‼️ oh well maybe one day ^_^ <- guy who's blowing up about it so so bad. anyway remind me to glam the weapon I hateee how the diadochos gunblade looks omfg it's so UGLY. anyway
thanks for coming to my fortuna fashion show tomorrow I'll be trying very hard to not want to level white mage on her for some reason!! which means getting a job skip that's on sale listen I've leveled multiple alts to be all 80 I've done my time if you see me job skip on main it's because I've leveled all these shits before elsewhere. and I don't have the tasty 2xp bonus anymore + I do have menphina's earring though + I am so so tired and lazy

FFXIV Glamour Archive #2
Okay second glamour to archive is my Shadowbringers Dragoon glam. I've had a completely different look for Endwalker and I've got an even newer one designed for Dawntrail, it's time to let this plate go.
Our only visible piece of jewellery is the Darklight Earrings of Striking. The maiming version is blue, which is of no use to Crimson's aesthetic. Where'd they come from? One of the level 50 dungeons! Maybe Lost City of Amdapor? The only other accessory piece with meaning to me is the Redbill Scarf. You can't see it, but she's wearing it close to her heart. Love Void Ark questline. I hope we adventure with the Redbills again one day.
As for the weapon, it's the Edenmorn Halbred, obtained at level 80 from E12S. I earned this! The Rolanberry Red dye affects the colour of the metal flower on it :)
The headpiece is the Friendship Circlet. I used a number of different feathers for varying SHB glams, but this was the first one. Obtained as part of the Recruit-A-Friend campaign! Thanks to the friends that recruited me to the game!
The chestpiece is very special to me. It is the Ornate Neo-Ishgardian Top of Maiming. Let's hear its story.
So in my early days when I first unlocked Wondrous Tails (affectionately referred to as Catbook), by inspecting the rewards for it I came across this dress. This was back in Heavensward I believe, I'd never even seen SHB gear models directly. So seeing this I was blasted with desire to have it. I adored it.
While I learned later on there was a crafted version of the piece, back when I first desired it all I knew is I needed two silver tickets from the Catbook to buy one. So over the course of my playing through the game, I earned those tickets, bought that top long before I reached level 80, and then held onto it until then. And then when I finally hit level 80, it was immediately on and my look was secured! Gearpiece with story and meaning to me <3
For the hands we have the Arhat Kote of Maiming, which comes from one of the three 4.0 level 70 dungeons. I don't think it was from Ala Mhigo, so either Temple of the Fist or Kugane Castle. It'd be funny if it was from Kugane, the one place I didn't take a screenshot in. I really like how it overlays the sleeves of the top.
While we only see a tiny little bit of them between the top and the boots, the legs are the Augmented Slipstream Breeches of Maiming! I only started playing with patch 5.3, so I wasn't there during 3.x buying primal gear and augmenting it. I think this came from Midas Savage originally? It adds some personality in filling the gap between boots and top.
Last but not least, speaking of the boots, we have the Ivalician Lancer's Thighboots, pulled directly from The Royal City of Rabanastre. I liked the look of these when I got them, so tucked them away for later. And then later came!
Hey! Hey! Did you notice? Only the weapon in this glamour is dyed! Every other piece is its base colour and in fact I'm not even sure what of these pieces CAN be dyed. Maybe just the top? If that? Doesn't matter! This was THE Crimson Fisher look for Shadowbringers, and meant a lot to me. Recorded here forever, my darling Dragoon glam.

Any Glamour Fiends Out Here?
Hello~ I just wanted to share a article I wrote about Final Fantasy XIV's glamour. It's pretty much a rating of glamours that caught my eye; I talk about ones that may be good for roleplaying as well.
You might seen a post like this before. It was very awkward and stiff— my bad, I tend to be that.
Anyway, if you're curious, why don't you drop by and check it out? If you have any glamour ideas, why don't you share it in the comments? To be honest, the article is just real chill.
If you like some the glams within, I talk about how you can find them. So, the articles are...
[Top 5] FF14 Best Dragoon Glamour Sets
[Top 5] FF14 Best Red Mage Glamour Sets
[Top 5] FF14 Best Black Mage Glamour Sets
I hope to see y'all there! :) Oh, oh ,oh— before I forget, I'm pretty sure I mention it in the articles, but I wanted to say all the pics come from Eorzea Collection.

Okay, I reeeeeeally needed poking to post a wall of Frog (:3c)
Dancer Barbie is just Frog's dance glam but pink, because it already had glowy pink weapons, high heels and I liked the colour matching on accessories :D
So's Bardbie because I wasn't sick of this glam yet and it had easy changes to make
Summoner Barbie is just a few tweaks on my existing Vrtra Friend glam (pink instead of green) and I think has the lowest heels unless I missed one but at least she is boosted a few inches off the ground in the Caller's Sandals so I'm using my imagination when I put her in a carboard box with accessories shrinkwrapped to the back :D
Black Mage Barbie taking advantage of an already pink staff to save dye.
It and Scholar Barbie are really using sets from the Nier Barbie pack (flower and scruchie :P)
Obviously I use Selene anyway but PINK FAIRIE FOR BARBIE WEEK anyway. Not Sold Seperately from Scholar Barbie.
Barbie Astrologian and Barbie Gunbreaker also come in a set
Any similarity to Scions living or dead is a coincidence etc etc
I don't know why but White Mage Barbie in particular makes me feel like she looks like Lyse blonde. I don't even have the hair??
Anyway I love the Amaro Weathervane too much to pick up a more Barbie accessory even for a week or two :P
SCREE
Er. I mean. Ronkan Barbie. No wait, Sage Barbie! D:
Not sure what's going on there. Better move on.
:<>
I love how plastic Paladin Barbie's boots look
I actually started with Dark Knight Barbie when I realised the non la hat was the perfect accessory since the flower is always pink
Warrior Barbie also has good plastic boots, and accessories which go with a lot of - eerr Warrior Barbie, what are you doing
Machinist Barbie is the first to be sold with a gun. It's cute a pink... girl power??? No? Recalled after a single day in shops.
The rarely seen Ninja Barbie is also a collector's item
She really disappears off the shelves.
HELP Dragoon Barbie just leaped out of the photoshoot
Recalled because she kept toppling off the shelf and found facedown on the floor.
Reaper Barbie top 10 Haunted Doll of the Year Winner
But also cutest boots of the year.
I wanted Samurai Barbie to look the most like A Barbie But With A Sword
(Great Serpent of Ronka not included)
Monk Barbie (Kettles Sold Seperately in the Tea Party Barbie set)
Her extra joints to do all the moves are the best feature for this Barbie, but it makes her a little clumsy just trying to stand up normally...
Also, of course, Blue Mage Barbie (non canon) has had a re-dye to match...
are you kidding?? it's a week until Barbie movie and our fc chest ran out? what are the chances
#ffxiv#bounding frog#I've had way too much fun with this :D#Also yes I am why the fc chest has no cherry pink I will own that

@lt-rootsap asked: Wardrobe Asks(if you don’t mind doing multiple)
For Synnove ✨
✨ to see my character in their current caster glamour(s)
So I have three caster glamours for Synnove~
First is the “canon” one: this is what I’m running around in game on the vast majority of the time when I’m doing PF farms or just chilling. It might be the canon Endwalker glam, but I am as yet unsure; I haven’t really found a glamour that’s “clicked” for me the same way Synnove’s ShB look did. As a note, I don’t play RDM or BLM, and neither class is canon for Synnove, so I don’t bother to keep separate glamours for them. My glamour plates are at a premium (and primarily dedicated to crafting glams).
Second glamour is Bozja farming glamour: CLL farming, Dal farming, mettle farming, DRS runs. This is technically it’s own gearset entirely, as that is a full Augmented Law’s Order casting set, and I deliberately make sure it never matches the canon glam so that I can immediately tell I need to equip my haste gear. (Full haste gear + Lost Chainspell = ten or eleven wyrmwaves in one Demi-Bahamut window and me cackling like a lunatic.) As haste is useless outside Bozja, this look is not canon...also because I still can’t decide if I like that top or not. Might cycle in the Hannish top instead one of these days.
And then of course, BLU. I genuinely love BLU. It is absolutely not canon for Synnove. I don’t care, soloing a 70 dungeon is a power trip I never get tired of. Yes, getting it to level 70 was pain and agony, but look at that AF! (Hat, top, and pants are dyed dragoon blue for extra oomph of blue.) I earned that AF. (And Predatrice. Need to work on getting my last fourteen BLU spells so I can get the Pure Azure feat and Friar Rush.) Also single best /bstance and /vpose in the game.
And you get bonus smirky Synnove because I’m viscerally attracted to my own characters and so should you. :D

Still tweaking my Bard (Archer) main glamour look -got the matching hat yesterday though the one I was using before worked just as well. Still, as fun as the 18th century revolutionary soldier vibe was (and appropriate for SB’s rebel against the colonizer plot), I will be going into the expansion of “Alternate Universe Version is about to be destroyed by Bright White Light Demons and time to save is with Balance Restoring Night!” So this amount of white is eh... I need a look with more black, me’thinks. But more Lúthien instead of Morgoth - Healing Night.
Second picture is the glam set I use for the other two ranged dps jobs so I could use it (I like the causal but not completely jeans and t-shirt look for my glams) And for further context of my usual lack of outlandishly cool style, my two tank glams (one for GNB and the other for the 3 jobs at lvl 52). And yes, hipster crop-top is an improvement over my previous tank theme, which was “No Armor and Floral Straw Hat”.
Sadly, the real problem is that I keep getting the fun dungeon gear drops for my Dragoon/Lancer (which, I have two different glam plates for it and could make at least 3 more for just tat one job) or Ninja, which I don’t play or have leveled.
Poor Squirrel. We aren’t going to the First until I’m happy with what we’ll be wearing in cutscenes. (Hey, I delayed with Heavensward too until I had my Winter Suit ready- which I kept that glam plate and it’s now the Blue Mage outfit).

Now that not every waking moment of me playing ffxiv has to be spent making money/raiding I can finally do stuff like work on glams for Aias (which I didn’t wanna do before bc if items are expensive then that’s less money for house, and if it’s dungeon items it can be sooooooo much grinding (my skalla aiming top took me 7 hours 🙃))
but tbh - and I think I’ve talked about it before - it’s fun to dress him up but on some level it only feels like that. A game of dress up and not stuff he’d actually legitimately wear 😔
I know part of it is because I genuinely like a lot of the (new) artifact gear & Final Fantasy job identities. But also, Aias is such an……. un-person that it feels like he wouldn’t style himself, yaknow? Like he gets handed dragoon armor, puts it on, and as long as it isn’t too clunky, it’s fine. Anything is fine.
Similarly, casual wear is hell bc he just……. Doesn’t feel like the type to pick out clothes. I think what suits him best is anything that shows off his body because his skin can only be his so it naturally feels like “him.” But anything else is a big ???!?!!!?, yaknow?
The only thing that’s been like mmmmm yes that’s fitting is the PLD glam I made him but uhhhhhhhh. That’s bc Aias is fucking corrupted and so has an “identity”
I guess the other one is his dancer set (the blue and white one!) but I suppose that’s his “prince romancing Asha” glam & also because when he dance partners someone I do want it to feel like the Anna Karenina waltz scene from the movie
#the thirst manifesto#i like dressing him up bc he’s hot but nothing ever really sticks and it kiiiiiinda feels bad#bc I work on getting a glam have fun admiring lizard for 2 seconds and then switch back to artifact gear bc it feels more correct

Sparks
O2 Institute, Birmingham
Sunday 24th September 2017
Friday morning - throughout the rest of the week, the topic of conversation was open. True, during the season, Monday would gain structure as we reflected on the football from the previous weekend, analysing how what seemed like a home banker against Queens Park Rangers had gone so horribly wrong. From the beginning of May, however, Monday would be like any other day, open to the ebbs and flows of the big wide world outside the small one in which we lived. Friday was different, winter, summer there was only ever one topic of conversation and that was Top of the Pops. It seems incredible now to think that a 30 minute programme of either promotional films or artists miming to their records could be so influential but for its prime time slot on a Thursday evening, the whole family would sit around the telly and absorb what was generally youth culture. With the only criteria for an appearance being to have sold a lot of records, there was the occasional act that our parents would appreciate, Englebert Humperdinck, Lena Martell, the Band of the Royal Dragoon Scots Guards, but mostly it was ours and we were indulged this weekly fix so that we could sound knowledgeable the following morning. The late nights desperately trying coax something listenable from Radio Luxembourg may have given us the music but TOTP added the visuals and our discussions were as much about what we had seen as heard.
For the artists, TOTP was a huge break; massively increasing their potential audience such that a successful appearance would lead to a surge in sales that drove the record further up the charts. The pressure was on, in just two or three minutes they had to make a big enough impact to be the subject of those Friday morning discussions. Many were young, very young in some cases and in the days before they were all stage school graduates, knew little about how to project themselves through a lens. Performing directly to the camera made you look desperate, trying to ignore it made it look as if you didn’t care and soon lost those potential sales. The ones remembered now are those who managed to get it right but the repeats of full shows shown on BBC4 show how many didn’t, excruciatingly bad performances that meant the chance had been lost and the audience would remain selective.
Occasionally, an act so out there would appear that it was difficult to quite believe what you were seeing. “Did you watch Top of the Pops?” we would excitedly ask each other the following morning as we sought confirmation that we had actually seen what we thought we had. These would often draw the most negative comments from our parents which, of course, made them all the more appealing to us. The appearance of Sparks on the show was one of those transformative experiences; once you had entered their world there was no way of leaving it. The singer, full on gender blurring glam rock with a thick main of black curly hair and a gold scarf tied loosely round his neck, was a whirl of hyperactivity even within the tight constraints of the stage. Peering through the camera rather than at it, his penetrating gaze drew you into the weird falsetto of his voice. Even his flamboyant charisma, however, was upstaged by the figure sitting alongside him. His fingers moved over the keys as his eyes darted from one side to the other, seemingly in continuous disapproval of the exuberance at his side. The most provocative part, however, was the small moustache that rested on his upper lip, the thing that, apparently led John Lennon to phone up Ringo Star to exclaim, “It’s Hitler with Marc Bolan”. The parts had been rehearsed and developed for years but now they had also had a killer song. Even though the impression made by “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us” has lasted for over forty years, it remains a song that is remarkably difficult to sing along to. The rollercoaster changes in pitch, awkward tonal variations and verses stuffed with words make it difficult to grasp, however many times you hear it. Despite the number of times I have listened to it, I still get little further than “Zoo time is she and you time” before my stuttering karaoke ends.
Russell Mael has no such problems. He will celebrate his 69th during this tour but he retains both the energy and the voice of his younger self. As he sings “I ain’t going to leave”, he raises his right arm in a gesture of defiance; the skin may hang a little more loosely from his frame, the lines on his face are harder to conceal but towards the end of a set in which he has worked harder than many less than half his age, he still has enough left for this intoxicating anthem to youthful swagger. One of the many remarkable things is that unlike many of his peers, his hold on those dense, complex and idiosyncratic lyrics is so secure he manages the whole set without the need of a single prompt. We last saw the Mael brothers about five years ago on the “Two Hands, One Mouth” tour where Ron’s keyboards provided the only accompaniment to his brother’s vocals. This time they have arrived with a five piece backing band so that they can recreate the glam rock stomp of their early years. They fizz through the strange vocal variations of “Propaganda” before unleashing a fearsome “At Home, At Work, At Play”, louder and with an intensity that it has rarely seen before. Shimmering strings and a steady disco beat gave a wondrous setting for the regret of “When Do I Get to Sing My Way” and for artists so seeped in irony, “Never Turn Your Back on Mother Earth”, makes its point clearly and directly, its relevance now sadly greater than when it was recorded. The irony returns for “Dick Around”, a compellingly arranged and dramatic overture to indolence and the disco thrill of “The Number 1 Song in Heaven” is as infectious as ever, also providing the opportunity for Ron to step out from behind his keyboards, roll up his sleeves and indulge in his one moment of what I suppose we now ought to call grandad dancing. After throwing everything at “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us”, they take things down a little for “Hospitality on Parade” and the first encore “Johnny Delusional”, a product of their recent collaboration with Franz Ferdinand. The wild glam rock nostalgia returns, however, for “Amateur Hour”, a final moment of clever infectious pop where the thrill is as great as ever.
The point of the “Two Hands, One Mouth” tour was to reflect on their long career; it began with an overture that consisted of their signature melodies and the only new song included formed the title for the enterprise. This time, however, there is a new album, their 23rd, and with arch, witty lyrics, stomping beats and Russell’s still haunting falsetto, “Hippopotamus” is one of their best. The songs have already made their mark; despite its recent release, they are already familiar and are greeted by the audience with the same wild enthusiasm as the hits from all those years ago. Starting with “What the Hell is it This Time”, the urgent synthesised strings take us immediately into the mind of God, not the omnipotent and vengeful God of the Bible but one who in old age can no longer disguise his irritation at the petty things people bother him with; “My girl has left; My dog has left; I’ve cracked up my car” and “His plate is filled with famine and with clean wholesome air; If Arsenal wins; He really don’t care” which is rapidly becoming one of my favourite lines in any song. Russell’s energetic performance may be his way of arresting his own drift towards becoming an elderly pop statesman but age forms the theme that unites many of the songs on “Hippopotamus”. Even the apparently random word association of the title track, the first song as far as I know to mention “Titus Andronicus”, can be seen as a reflection on the confusion and declining short term memory of age; “How did it get there? How did it get there? How did it get there? I don't know”. “Missionary Position” covers how the thrill of making love is lost through routine and familiarity whilst the playful “I Wish You Were Fun” takes this further to explore how even those things we once liked about another person can be lost over the years. With “Édith Piaf (Said It Better Than Me)” they return to the same theme as “When Do I Get to Sing My Way” but whilst then the singer could still aspire to become the torch singer, now he knows that he will never achieve that level of emotional clarity; “Live fast and die young, live fast and die young, live fast and die young; Too late for that, too late for that”. The most haunting song, however, is the one that at first seems the most throwaway. Introducing the song, Russell sets the scene by starting a story that he is unable to finish as he can’t remember what he was saying. For once, the band are left in the shadows at the back of the stage and Russel’s tender vocal is accompanied only by Ron’s piano. The effect is to focus the attention onto the words, an insightful account into the onset of dementia, a gradual withdraw of the person from the world around the. It emphasises that their unorthodox and at times just plain weird approach to songwriting always had a serious intent.
The last time we saw Sparks was at the same venue and arriving just after the doors had opened, there were few others around so that we were able to find a place close to the stage. This time was different; walking through Digbeth at about 6:30 we could see that a lengthy queue had already formed, the interest and excitement palpable as we took our places. Whilst there are a few younger people around us, the majority of the audience are of an age and a recent appearance on Newsnight together with the release of a new album has both helped to remind people that they still exist and also that they still make fascinating music. A repeated “Home; My Baby’s Taking Me Home”’ forms one of the songs heard towards the end of the set but whilst it is stretching things to view this as some sort of homecoming, the time they spent in the UK in the early 70s did help to shape their music and introduce them to an audience that understood it. Early on, Russell mentions that Birmingham was the home of Muff Winwood, the producer who helped to create the sound that was so startling on that ToTP appearance all those years ago. If this was to help him engage with the audience, however, he didn’t really need to, they were there from the moment they walked on stage leaving the brothers both surprised and moved by the warmth of the reaction. There is really no one else quite like them, a masterclass that shows that they remain as intriguing and relevant as ever.
