I do have a bunch of other ships for her but the whole point of the frogicule originally was to scoop up the normcore relationships and commit to them all because it amused me that the game gave us so many romance options and no romance side plots to pick from so they're all kinda nebulously canon and I love when you can just assemble a whole polycule out of narrative ambiguity. So like, her relationship with G'raha or Aymeric or Y'shtola is exactly what you might expect if you lean in to shippy things those guys say to the WoL XD

Erenville is a little indulgence because he suits Frog as herself and not the WoL so writing them is very fun and unique and has its whole story arc to talk about that only happened to Frog and no one else unless there's another very lucky Frog-themed WoL out there who's been fighting him for a couple of years :')

(I know the weather transition didn't happen like that but NG+ isn't exactly generous with the transition to switching off the zone when technically Frog was halfway through Stormblood in the first screenshots :P)

Ignoring 'pinnacle' because I have a lot of Frog ships :P I think Frogmeric is a good example of what brings me to a wolship though because it got so teased to the point of Thancred straight up saying he thought Aymeric was in love with the WoL, and it's always fun to go "so what do we make of all this then?" and think about filling in the gaps of story we already have with canon wol happenings, and put in how Frog runs with it.

I thought it was interesting that the dinner date gets cut off and you end up yanked away back to duty which is just so tragic for what looked like a blooming love story with the character I *already* had a crush on (and like... this happened to everyone?? nah this was a cutscene only for me :P), but things spin on from that disaster to the point of sending you off to war in Stormblood and you never really get a chance to make it up to Aymeric in that whole part of the story... I thought it was probably for the best that she break his heart a little and tell him this was clearly not working out even if they were obviously pining for each other.

And then after Shadowbringers I was caught up to the story and downtime started to feel like downtime and events seemed to move much slower in the story too, AND Frog had a much more adventure-friendly partner in G'raha now. But like... also the stakes seemed different and better for relationships in general than zipping around the globe for war.

Then it didn't seem quite so weird at all to think that G'raha would be royally upset that she was so cruel to Aymeric after one bad dinner incident. So it was literally the idea of Frog and G'raha that made me think about Frog and Aymeric again just because I couldn't bear to disappoint G'raha by being mean to the most beloved elf who I thought was perfect in all respects except being stuck behind a desk :') I decided they'd done their trial by fire and seen it through some hard times and could give it a real go.

(I mean likewise, Frog thought G'raha was so annoying right up until the very last second in ARR so that was a reprieve there too XD I thought he was rather funny but he really hit romantic hero status only the moment Frog realised she was losing him. She did then instantly recognise him in ShB and played along very diligently.)

I thought I'd ask this while I worked on my other questions. :)

If you're a WoL x NPC shipper, what drew you to that ship and why? What makes that ship the pinnacle for you and your oc? Is it that you love the canon character you write them with, you find their dynamic interesting or something in between?

If you're not a WoL x NPC shipper, but you have a ship with another person, how did that come about? What makes that ship fulfilling for you? Has the ship impacted your relationship with that other person? Feel free to gush, I wanna hear it!

Wayland PoV

Lorainne’s fingers running along his back made Wayland’s skin crawl. But she only laughed as he flinched.

“Why so scared, pet? It’s only me.” she taunted, dragging her nails into him now.

He just glared at her. Well, at her arm. It was hard to move his head from how she had restrained him to the metal table, spread out like a starfish. And she’d gagged him with a leather belt so he couldn’t bite her. Again.

“Now, hold still. This will hurt more if you struggle.”

And that was all the warning he got before something searing hot was pressed into his lower back.

Wayland screamed, blacking out.

Before he was woken up again by a bucket of ice water being dumped over his head. He almost fell off the table in shock when he registered just in time he wasn’t pinned down anymore. Shivering, he sat up, wrapping his arms around himself, just trying not to cry in front of her. Which was even harder to accomplish as Lorainne put a big warm towel around him.

“You did very good, Grof.” she crooned, kissing his forehead while latching the collar back around his neck. “Do you want to see?”

She didn’t wait for an answer before showing him her phone screen.

His skin crawled as he saw what was emblazoned in raw blistering red welts right above where his pant-line would rest.

Caressing his cheek, she gave him that possessive smile he’d come to despise. “Now everyone will know that you’re mine.” she said. “Forever.”

I think because Frog is always just hanging out, and it's well known she's an adorably Man Of The People type hero who is just always finding where the party is and getting into the middle of it, so I think there's probably a wealth of [generic person who could be you] x warrior of light fics. You are a dragon hunter at the convictory and she's just shown up cold and looking for shelter from the storm... Oh no you are an ala mhigan farmer and you just found her wounded at the side of the road pretending nothing was wrong... you have been invited to a liberation party in Doma and she's just there eating rice cakes with the Doman Adventurer's Guild... She's got her shirt sleeves rolled up on the Ishgardian Restoration hefting boxes and you're a helplessly smitten skybuilder...

The warrior of light in all these novels is a huge hellsguard with a comically close name that's not quite right. Frog personally thinks the Leaping Newt ones are the most in character and has to be talked out of going to the book release of the next in the series in case the author gets the wrong idea.

There is also a series where she's paired with Estinien that she thinks is hilarious and sends him every single update on their "adventures" and he waits to see her again then stoically attempts to eat them in front of her in disgust.
