......OKAY SO, i swear to god this is the most self indulgent shit but I gotta give a teensy bit of context first.

Surkie goes into enw as effectively a drk+rpr since rpr for her is more of an augment onto her preexisting classes? She doesn't use a rpr jobstone nor does she have a proper avatar, as she kind of just got dragged to Drusilla after she summoned a voidsent into her. That voidsent was Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, something she'd actively researched and sought out due to his supposed status as one of the very first voidsent who might have sympathy to her plight to restore the void with Cylva.

This is Diarmuid, btw:

His size is very fluid and he just kinda hangs out in Surkie's head. He's got a more humanoid form that looks like a devil trigger out of DMC and remembers what he used to look like as a mortal, but that's not something he ever shows to anyone.

Reaper is a compromise between him and Surkie due to their vastly different fighting styles (her being a drk main, him...well when he was alive he often used a sword and a spear in tandem with each other and had two sets so 4 weapons in total, the tails kinda echo back to that). So while Surkie is still dominantly a drk, stuff involving Diarmuid involves summoned scythes and whatnot since them learning something together was better than trying to find a balance between existing styles.

This is all to say that at the end of enw, in order to keep her alive, Diarmuid ends up partly fusing with Surkie to get her back to the Ragnarok, and they're kinda stuck together now. She's half voidsent now, it's fucked her up fundamentally, he's stuck on the Source, and now Surkie has a Devil Trigger.

Like. Seriously. It's in part designed after Diarmuid and his humanoid form, but also in part inspired by her dark knight glam from post stb-enw, which ends up getting destroyed - which is this set below, main piece being the Behemoth King top. Reason being is the Sin DT forms are based on suits of armor, with Dante's being more european armor while Vergil's is clearly samurai armor.

She lost this armor set at the end of ENW after it kind of became her identity. It got worn down from how she channels aether - which she wasn't even aware of doing, but it was what in part destroyed her first and favorite spear, nearly destroyed her Captain's naginata, and then decimated her armor. Granted, what dealt the final blow was the fight against Zenos, but her aether warped the plate so heavily that it was unsalvageable. It's what ends up leading to her post enw look with the Troian gear, which was tailored specifically to her insane and uncontrollable aether.

But this also means it's easy for her to suddenly swap into that voidsent form/DT.

She gets a hang of slipping in and out of it and she winds up fighting MOST OF THE 6.X BOSSES ON HER OWN. Initially it was just because I'm Fucking Gay and I wanted her and Barbariccia to go one on one (*COUGHS*), but then it led into her being the only one to take on Rubicante, and then ofc it just fit to have her go after Golbez on her own. As that DT. Rest of the team joins her for Zeromus, but regardless she still just went stupid crazy DT form against these guys and walked out of it alive.

..............................................................................and this form is also responsible for an uh. Incident. that results in their fifth child, Tseren, whose bio parents are surkie and ysayle.

and they don't learn about this until the Rubicante fight where Ysayle was going to get involved in the fight, but he refused to fight her on the grounds of her. yknow.

This outfit's fun because in in-game terms, it was originally supposed to be a dragoon glam that I didn't really vibe with but it wound up being an AMAZING paladin glam and just casual tanking thing that became part of Surkie's canon wardrobe. Basically it was her first dark knight look, it became her main look during stb and for anything that didn't involve heavy combat in post stb-post shb (that's where the behemoth king set comes in), and it remains her traveling and often casual clothes. I just really like how the Holy Rainbow shirts look <3

THE ZONURESKIN LOOK okay so technically i made this in post shadowbringers, but it kind of backdated itself and became her Look through post-stormblood and shadowbringers if she dared to do stuff with dragoon, and tbh even into endwalker and now dawntrail. Obviously given the look's inspiration since it's a reprint of the Ala Mhigan set (fending but swapped to maiming), it's definitely something she got in Ala Mhigo and honestly probably something Lyse helped her get to better reinforce her side after the numerous injuries that threatened her ability to be a dragoon. Weapon for this is Dreizack Recollection, which was restored by her sister, Altan, and given to her and she Will Not abandon that spear because of that sentimentality. It continues the trend of maiming being white for her since it started as dragoon so it was just better for muddying up her silhouette when in the air (but also white to her is more the Death Color than black is because of her upbringing) but it's just become her Thing as the "Azure Dragoon Cloaked in Ivory".

The Troian set >:3c This is Surkie's new heavy combat look as of post-endwalker when UT completely destroyed her old armor (not pictured at all). Admittedly, this has been in rotation the shortest but I got super attached to it. It's still on my WAR glam, but it just feels more in place with "active excursion in the void" versus "low stakes jaunt around Tural", hence the swap to the Edenmorn gear (also not pictured). I'm pvp pilled, so ofc the archfiend gauntlets are actually on the glamour plate. Love Cylva, so ofc we have the Deepshadow axe (modded somewhat), and it's just...a really fun look that I'm obsessed with since I could never wear something like this in other MMOs as a fem player. Lots of gender euphoria, you see.

Ala Mhigan Striking my beloved. YEAH I love the Ala Mhigan/Zonure/Ovim set A LOT and I've used it quite a bit, and frankly the Ala Mhigan striking is SUCH a good piece for this. Also really love the Crystarium knuckles for this (the sam side is fine, just not as good without the knuckles but at least you can see the gloves), and the Moonward boots. Sorry, Edge, Surkie just wears your boots better 🤷 Also love how her arm and scars appear through the one sleeve, just TASTY. (yes the sword is modded, leave me be). Another thing Surkie likely got in Ala Mhigo that I'm probably gonna canonize, this time through W'khittri. It also continues maiming's trend of white relating to death, but it's got that balance of white And black (which she's always seen as more noble and benevolent due to Nhaaman influence)

Deepshadow and Troian just the other way around now. Hat's modded, leave me alone, but yeah so uh. This is a modified form of one of Lillith's glams, it just wound up working better for Surkie. You could argue it's still the black = Nhaama stuff, but this honestly leans more into the conscious edginess she picked up from Eorzean influence around the colors. Also the most brown I use in any glam. IDC if the Shiva gun conflicts, it took me Way Too Fucking Long to get the damn thing (before enw came out and the coffers eased that process Considerably). Also she summons it, so it's not like she has it visible at all times. ...Yeah, anyways it's like an Amano cowboy and I'm here for it.

Also a sprout called the vanilla form of the outfit (which isn't too different) cool so I Win.

Muireann's all-time most favourite snack ever is mun-tuy bean mochi. It was created by her mother and Haname (@azure-dragonsinger) when she was still a kid and so is not readily available anywhere else.

She's not all that good at cooking herself and so she can't make her own attempts when she's in her cringe era of being too mortified over missing a letter home that she just stops all contact with her family. It's not till Yugiri and the Doman refugees arrive around 6 years after she left home that she has another shot at having it lmao

She does have some when she eventually swallows her pride and embarrassment and reconnects with her family sometime during the Shadowbringers patches.

I was gonna put down a "viper review" post for tonight since that's literally all I did today (leveled to 90 for DT analysis tomorrow) but this gives me an excuse to do it AND be helpful. Spoilery stuff below the cut, spoiler-free review first:

Viper feels extremely smooth to play, with fancy animations and a surprisingly intuitive rotation as long as you're able to see and poke the shiny combo indicated buttons. I knew the minute I saw the preview that I wanted to take it through Dawntrail, and I was NOT disappointed in the slightest by how good it felt to pick up and play for the first time.

And now the detailed Long Post about it for @stardustdiver - I hope this helps somewhat, even if it's just the TL;DR at the end. I hyperfixated a little in my sleepiness... 🙃

TL;DR: Start with oGCD rotation, then into regular ST or AoE rotation emphasizing keeping your Noxious Gnash debuff on your target(s) as first priority, then maintaining your own buffs second. If the action name contains "Dread", it applies the "take more damage" debuff, "Hunter" for the damage buff, and "Swiftskin" for the action speed buff. Combo indicators will do the heavy lifting for getting you to the right combo finisher to do the most damage.

Now for the "long": I'll break down single target, then AoE, then oGCDs. It's a lot of the same stuff in different shapes, really.

Viper's starting rotation is pretty neat. Basically, your 1-2-3 combo is actually a 6 button combo that they've mashed into two. As far as I can tell, the job gauge is just a visual indicator. Steel Fangs corresponds to the left blade on the gauge, and Dread Fangs corresponds to the right blade. I set them to 1 and 2 on my hotbar, respectively, so it's easy to match them up to the gauge.

They each become buttons with other effects on them. Steel becomes Hunter's Sting which gives you Hunter's Instinct, a 40s damage buff (10%), and Dread becomes Swiftskin's Sting which gives you Swiftscaled, a 40s recast/cast/auto attack speed buff (15%). After those are cast, you get one of two choices: a pair of Flank- attacks, or Hind- attacks, based on if you hit Swiftskin or Hunter for combo part 2

When the ST rotation starts, open with Dread Fangs. It applies a Noxious Gnash debuff to your target, not unlike Reaper's mark, that lasts for 20s and can stack up to 40s. It's important to keep this up however you can - the oGCD rotation hits it as well, and that's also what you should open with for some burst. From there, I prefer Swiftkin's Sting, which speeds up the rest of your rotation, and then the finisher choice only matters in that it grants a 40s buff that determines what your next 3rd button has to be by buffing its' potency by 100.

The combo indicators guide you to the right one for your buff, so you don't really have to think about it. But I like to, so... in my practical 1-2 keybind example, I'm pressing 2-2-2 (rear), then 2-1-1 (flank), then 1-2-1 (rear), then 1-1-1 (flank), then looping that until my oGCDs are available for a burst. Basically, the starting button doesn't matter, the second button gives you a buff and determines which positional you're getting, and the third button determines your next positional. Hunter's Sting will always give you flank positionals, and Swiftskin's Sting will always give you rear positionals.

Similarly, for the AoE rotation, the start doesn't matter except for making sure Noxious Gnash is applied (Steel Maw doesn't, Dread Maw does), the second button gives you the Swiftscaled or Hunter's Instinct Buffs, and the last button improves the other AoE combo. The combo indicators on the bar guide you here, too.

At the end of any 3-button run through ST or AoE, Serpent's Tail will change to Death Rattle (ST) or Last Lash (AoE) for an oGCD hit you can press before starting anew.

oGCDs are slightly more complicated, but follow the same pattern for both styles so I'll condense it a little. Press the button that has two charges (Dreadwinder for ST or Pit of Dread for AoE), press one of the newly lit up buttons (Coil options for ST, Den options for AoE), press the transformed Twinfang and Twinblood buttons (Bite for ST, Thresh for AoE) as they light up, press the other Coil or Den button, press the Twinfang/Twinblood buttons as they light up, and you're done. You get the two 40s buffs AND a single application of Noxious Gnash out of this rotation, and can do it twice. Open with at least one round of this before jumping into the "regular" combo.

At 82, you get Uncoiled Fury which is a massive ST hit with reduced damage for nearby targets that you can activate after each press of Dreadwinder or Pit of Dread. I prefer to use it at the end of the oGCD burst to cap it off and remind myself to press the other buttons, but I have no idea how optimal that is. At 86 you'll get a button that gives you a free charge of Uncoiled Fury.

I've not really played with the stuff unlocked at 90 yet, but there's more button transformation stuff coming and I'm excited to figure it out.

if anyone been playing viper has some tips for like, rotations (mainly the 123 because theres so many paths they could go and the buffs they give, not so much the ocgd combo) and also what the blue and the yellow and the left half and the right half of the gauge means? i figured out the red gems part of the gauge
