Hey you lovers, haters and weebs! Welcome to the first day of our annual Doki Doki Days in 2023 as we count down to one of the most romantic days of the year. In this post, we’ll be talking about some of our favorite couples of the year. Which just means, actual romantic interests and canon couples. Second English Edition of Independent Yuri Manga Magazine “Galette” Launches Crowdfunding on Kickstarter

On Tuesday, the independent, creator-owned Yuri manga magazine Galette launched its new Kickstarter campaign to fund its second English edition. This initiative follows the successful crowdfunding of its first English edition in August.

In the first 24 hours, the campaign raised over ¥3,000,000 (approximately $19,000), surpassing its initial goal of ¥2,000,000 (around $12,500). At the time of publication, it has doubled its goal with the support of over 300 backers contributing to the project, putting it in the top 10 of current Kickstarter campaigns.

The crowdfunding campaign is set to conclude on January 31.

The first overseas volume and special booklet can be purchased as optional add-ons, so those who did not pledge to the first Kickstarter still have the option to acquire them.

The English editions of Galette contain translated versions of selected works from the magazine’s publication history. The second volume includes seven titles, including an extra story from Milk Morinaga’s bestselling 2006 manga (licensed in English by Seven Seas). It will be published in both ebook and paperback formats and will be around 260 pages long.

Additionally, backers have the option to pledge at a higher level and receive a bonus special booklet containing English editions of previously published one-shots by Milk Morinaga, Mera Hakamada, Yukino Sakuraya, Moto Momono, and Nekohariko 22.

The manga is translated by Red String Translations.

Galette is a creator-owned Yuri manga magazine, largely funded via memberships on Fantia. The first Japanese issue of the quarterly magazine was published in February 2017. Since then, Galette Works has published 32 volumes of Galette alongside multiple collected volumes of serialized works and 25 volumes of its sister publications, Petit Galette and Galette Meets, the latter of which feature more adult content than the main magazine.

Galette Works plans to crowdfund and publish seven volumes of this overseas edition, drawing from eight years of previous releases. Afterward, Japanese and English editions of Galette will be published simultaneously. However, if any future edition fails to reach its funding goal, Galette Works will cease releasing English volumes.

Apropos of nothing, here's my top 15 anime and whether the story would be improved if you made the main character a trans girl:

1. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime - You can't transition Rimuru in a way that matters, but honestly if Rimuru did start to ID as a woman over time, that would be cool. Unlikely though considering his human form is the body of Shizu, so a fully fem form would feel pervy to Rimuru.

2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Well it'd certainly make the title funny if you made Edward into Edwina. And it'd make Ed/Winry into yuri. But honestly it'd change very little imho. Though it would be interesting to explore transition in a world where alchemy exists, but just in a different story. Might make for a fascinating post-canon fanfic?

3. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation - Oh god would it. The story is already focused on exploring identity and already has dysphoria when a god he talks to forces him into his pre-reincarnation body on the astral plane. Making Rudy into a polyamorous trans lesbian would literally be peak and elevate the story so much.

4. Kaguya-sama: Love is War - You know what? Yeah. I can vibe with making Miyuki Shirogane trans. It would add another layer of intrigue to the story AND make it gay. It could even be funny if Kaguya or Chica found out before Shirogane did. Wait. No. It would be hilarious if YU ISHIGAMI found out first, and just, assumed Miyuki was closeted, and not just, clueless. Yes this could add so much entertainment value.

5. Dungeon Meshi - Lord almighty get this autistic furry a choker and some estrogen, stat. I make it no secret how I feel about the Trans Touden Sisters interpretation.

6. Dandadan - Make Okarun and Jiji trans girls and make the main cast a messy polycule and sign me the FUCK up please! It would be so funny and so much fun. I NEED this version of Dandadan. It'd be even funnier considering how much is focused around Ken's junk and him being partially possessed by an old lady.

7. Overlord - NGL I'm not even sure anything would change if you made Momonga into a trans woman. She'd act the exact same, and so would everyone else. Interesting for sure, but fruitless, ultimately.

8. My Dressup Darling - Crack? Crack cocaine? Do you realize how amazing it would be to make this into a story about a gyaru girl pulling a closeted trans girl excitably out of the closet?! This would make this so much cuter than it already is, I think I'd EXPLODE.

9. How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom - It wouldn't change much narratively, but the world could always use more stories with polyamorous trans lesbians as the protagonist.

10. The Faraway Paladin - Wouldn't change much honestly, but it would be cool. Tbh Season 2 Will looks like a stealth/closeted trans girly already.

11. Mob Psycho 100 - Again wouldn't change much but would be fun. Put Mob on estrogen and watch her transform from anxiety autism failboy to anxiety autism failgirl. And then still be the kindest person in any room.

... Okay though, on second thought, getting to see her go ???% on a transphobe would be cool as shit.

12. One Punch Man - another no change case. One Punch Woman. She has boobs now. She probably transitioned in like a day somehow.

13. My Hero Academia - I think putting Midoriya on estrogen would fix the show actually. Maybe also put the writer on estrogen just to be sure. (joke)

14. Kill la Kill - Making Ryuko Matoi a trans girl would actually be really cool, especially with her challenging establishment, with the themes of clothes being a restrictive aspect of society, and with her gay romance with Mako. I've seen so many trans girls on Tumblr with Ryuko's exact shameless, confident personality, I just know it'd be epic.

15. Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious - It would change little about how Seiya acts, but realizing she's trans would definitely give Ristarte's bisexual ass a nosebleed. Though Seiya would probably be ultra mega hyper closeted behind numerous mystic barriers, so that'd be fun to explore.

Miyuki Koorikawa grew up in Aichi, Japan with her mother, father and her younger sister Arina. Her family are pretty wealthy. Her dream is to become a great singer when she got older. She did not have many friends, She doing singing as a hobby. Miyuki had always been an aspiring ice skater, but was interested in Beyblading, observing the neighbourhood children battle each other from a distance after practice. Her parents, concerned for her safety, did not want her Beyblading with the others as yet.

When she turned six years old, her mother presented her with the Beyblade, Blizzard Cygnus containing a beautiful swan BeySpirit that Miyuki immediately took a liking to. At first, she was not used to launching her Beyblade and keeping it spinning which discouraged her but she did not give up. A few weeks of training and watching the other children, she learned how to launch her Beyblade properly. Eager to show the others, she decided to show off her moves against another girl in front of a crowd. Fired up and passionate about her first battle, she was not unhappy from losing but instead vowed to become better and soon the best blader that Japan has ever seen.

At the age of eight, she had grown both in strength and in confidence and put ice skating off to the side to focus on her skills as a Beyblader. Miyuki was acquainted with all the other kids that lived near her and was told about a junior Beyblading contest that was taking place by Arina, who had signed her up already. Although nervous, Miyuki was pumped and eagerly agreed to participate and came out in second place. She was excited about her win but even more excited about discovering a new special move: Ice Crystal Assault.

One day when Miyuki goes to elite school. She heard from another girl that they're going to have a new transfer student in their class. That when the sliver haired boy name Tsubasa Otori came in. Miyuki thinks that he was cute and want to be his friend. Tsubasa sat next to Miyuki. Miyuki smile at him and introduce herself to him. He smile back. She would like to be friends with him. He responded yes. They became friends. They hang out alot. They getting along great.

((Present Day))

When Miyuki was older, she decided to have a Beyblade battle practice. During a practice session with her Beyblade at a nearby gym, she ended up running into her childhood friend, Tsubasa. Excited to see him again. She was going to spend time with him, They decided to catch up on the time she missed while she was away with him over lunch, and later met with Tsubasa’s friends.  She became friends with the others, such as Madoka and Kenta. More powerful than when she was a child, Miyuki decided to take on Gingka Hagane and display her newfound skills. Madoka, Tsubasa, and Kenta all came to watch the unfolding of the challenge she presented. It was a tough fight and both Beyblades took a reasonable amount of damage. Even with Miyuki's Cygnus’s special move, she ended up tying with the powerful Blader. Gingka congratulates her, and remarks on how strong her Blader's Spirit is and how much stronger it could be if she kept believing in herself. They shake hands and she smiles, content with her victory, not in battle, but in herself and spirit which made her feel victorious. She soon joined Battle Bladers, wanting to achieve her dreams of becoming the best. However, things took a turn for the worst when she faced off against Ryuga. She was thrilled with excitement, and nearly managed to defeat him by putting up an amazing fight while taking so many of Lightning L-Drago’s attacks, but Ryuga used his dark power, which nearly destroyed Miyuki's bey. She sadly forfeited the battle, feeling saddened by the loss, but Madoka vowed to fix up her Bey and make it good as new again.

Before the World Championship, Miyuki spent time with her sister Arina to to recalling her past endeavours up to then. She was so happy to see them and expressed her feelings about Beyblading, while later introducing Arina to Tsubasa and the others. Miyuki then tells Gingka and the others that she Yoko, Risa, and Nichiko are going to be on Team BladeValkyrie, with her as the team leader. Excited about the World Championship, they agreed that they all make it their objective to have fun! Team BladeValkyrie managed to defeat Team Korea and Team Mexico, the next round leading to GanGan Galaxy and Miyuki was excited. Nichiko battled against Masamune and won. Reika battled Tsubasa, and nearly won until Tsubasa's dark power took over and caused him to nearly destroy Reika's Bey, which she ended up losing. Finally, Miyuki battled against Gingka, but lost to him.

After a break, BladeValkyrie got a second chance and battled against Team Starbreaker, which won against them and nearly outed their team from the tournament. Upon going against Damian, he traps her and Cgynus inside Hades’ Gates, but they break out of the chains and Miyuki almost manages to pull out a spectacular victory against him with her strongest Special Move: Sub-Zero Cannon. Both attacks collided, causing a massive explosion that covered the entire field in smoke. As the smoke slowly clears, it reveals Cgynus has stopped spinning with a stadium sleepout, while Hades barely managed to keep spinning,

During the Hades City incident, she, along with Yoko, Risa, and Nichiko help Gingka and many others fight against members of the HD Academy alliance.

A year and a couple weeks later, after the defeat of Hades Inc and the destruction of the Spiral Core, a strange event occurred. A new Star Fragment similar to the one that created Storm Pegasus and Lightning L-Drago exploded and spread out twelve beams of light that fell on Earth, hitting and enchanting eleven destined Beyblades. These Beys would prove to help in a time of darkness, as the legend of the star foretells.

Miyuki journeys with Gingka and the others to find the Legendary Bladers to help defeat Nemesis, as well as becoming one herself, which represents Earth. It was the danger of the battle against Rago that made her realise her obvious crush on Tsubasa. As the time came for Gingka and his group to depart, Miyuki was unsure on how to confess her feelings to Tsubasa. While walking through the forest of a nearby park they'd met, aimlessly wandering deep in thought, she accidentally trips on a root and nearly tumbles into the river, only to be caught by Tsubasa. He comments on her clumsiness and how she should not make it a habit. Nervously laughing, she tells him that she hopes that he could be by her side to help her when she can’t help herself, and confesses her affection for him.

Years after the events of Nemesis, and working happily at the WBBA, Miyuki was married to Tsubasa after a long while of knowing and working alongside each other. She still Beyblading, trains newcomers to the sport. She soon became a mother and has a daughter name Michiko.

Headcanons until this somehow turns into a full-blown fic because the premise is hilarious.

Honestly, if this man was in a romcom it would be the love mental warfare one.

That being said...

First, you fall in love.

Then you confess it.

Ask anyone and they will say this is a wonderful thing.

But they are so very wrong.

LOVE IS WAR, whoever gives their heart first will be conquered.

Or so you two think.

-You two happened to be in the same class in university, both of you from different programs.

-You had known Kabru, the charming and gifted adopted kid of a reclusive woman, everyone on campus fawned over him but not you, he would never be able to make you fall for him.

-However if he were to ask you out you'd probably entertain the idea.

-He had known of you, you were top of the class and a hard worker. Your position was earned and many people thought highly of you for that.

-Unlike them however he was not in love with you, but if you were to give him your entire heart, soul and mind to him he'd probably entertain the idea.

-Of course, you'd/he'd come around and confess your/his infinite and undying love and devotion to him/you...

-It was just a matter of time....

-And just like that, half a semester had gone by with no progress from either side.

-So it was time for you/him to take matter into your/his own hands.

-Honestly, I was conflicted on whether Kabru would be more like Shirogane, but really? He's like Kaguya in this case. (Congrats on the Shirogane role by the way, you are not broke like Miyuki though.)

-He may not be as wealthy as Kaguya but he definitely has the cunning and smarts to try to put you in a situation where you are bound to confess to him.

-You on the other hand can tell he's up to something and probably known him well enough at this point to know he's plotting something and you are too stubborn and prideful to fall for his schemes.

-But you also have a tendency to take advantage of a situation and try to make him be the one cornered and be forced to confess to you.

-It's a constant battle of wits between both of you that hardly anyone can tell it's going on, because honestly who would imagine something that ridiculous is going on?

-He tried to get you to go on a date by hiding coupons under your desk and have you ask him out.

-But if you did that it would mean accepting you want to spend time with him and if you want to spend time with him it would mean you like him and doing that it would be like confessing-

-Yeah, no you are not falling for that. So you decide to make the best evasive maneuver you could convey...

-You asked Rin if she wanted to go to a cafe with you so you can both get some studying done.

-Kabru lost that one.

-Then there was the time it started raining out of nowhere, you knew Kabru would have an umbrella at the ready for something like this so you pretended you didn't have one

-At the same time he said he didn't have one, he was bluffing and you knew it but he also knew you were lying.

-So you two spend a long time "arguing" (more like trying to prove) about who was lying and who was telling the truth.

-Just when he was about to corner you into admitting you did have an umbrella and just wanted to walk with him while sharing one...

-Laios came from behind the two of you, gave you his umbrella and ran away using his own jacket as a shield.

-You two were dumbfounded and in a way you both lost and won that time.

-The mental gymnastics you both come up with to evade admitting you love the other are amazing...

-After all confessing would mean opening your heart and be vulnerable and neither of you were about to do that.

-It is easier to just make the other kneel and say the thing or at least that's what you both think

-You don't want him to know how much effort you put into everything you do and how much failure you have to go through for things to be perfect.

-He doesn't want you to see the worst version of him and make you run away the second you take a glimpse of that.

Love is war.

And you won't lose this war.

You will conquer and make him admit his love for you./ He will conquer and make you admit your love for him.

It all depends on who is smarter.

Lin glared at me. “Yo-Yo come to mama.” I said. Yo-Yo started coming towards me. “Yo-Yo, stay with daddy.” Lin said. Yo-Yo looked at Lin then at me. “Stay with me.” Lin said. Yo-Yo walked over to me and I picked her up. “My cats.” I said. “You two are arguing over cats!” Toph shouted. “Yes, these are our kids. This is Yo-Yo Beifong and Miyuki Beifong.” I said and showed off the cats to her. Toph looked at me then Lin. “It all makes sense. Two lesbians with cats never having kids. One the top, the other the bottom.” Toph said. I had no clue what to say. “I always knew you were gonna be gay and of course you like being called daddy.” Toph said. “Mom!” Lin shouted. “I mean look at you! "He's autistic and bisexual as hell, and there's a good bit of trans coding in him 🥺

Autism coding: Bro's literally got a sword and swordfighting hyperfixation where, despite playing a game that focuses around guns, he still chooses to use a sword!! We also see him completely missing Asuna's flirting at first (he tells her she could have just checked her friendlist to make sure he was alive, in response to her tracking him down to see him)

Bi coding: Dual wielding swords is literally a euphemism in Japan for bisexuality; and Kirito initially tries to hide the fact he can dual wield out of fear of how the people he's close to will view him (and once he reveals it to them and they accept it, he begins to be more open about it.) Also in the Underworld arc he becomes very close with Eugeo to the point of living with him (and sharing a bed on occasion), and there are several parallels between Eugeo and Asuna, and they're so gay for each other that despite the anime having only a toned down version of it, they're still very affectionate (Also of note is that Eugeo is the only guy in SAO canon to consistently have a 'laying in bed with Kirito' talk CG in the spinoff games) (There's more but it's spoilers and this is a shortened version)

Trans coding: Kirito is very trans coded in the light novel (which shows Kirito's thoughts in much greater detail than the anime) Aincrad arc reveals that Kirito explicitly Does Not Like his real face, and dislikes how feminine it looks (he mentions that its led to him and his cousin being mistaken for sisters) And in Phantom Bullet arc, he's visibly uncomfortable at being mistaken for a girl due to his avatar's appearance, and in response to being misgendered he briefly panics and checks to make sure his chest flat (at least in the anime adaptation) 🏳️‍⚧️"

"Speaks in a way that is seen as weird and has mannerisms others think is funny. He struggles with not being taken seriously by others because of this and many of the things others say goes over his head. He struggles to connect with other people because of these things. His entire arc in the second film is about him deciding that the people who don't accept him for who he is aren't worth it and that he's going to continue being himself."

Junpei -

"for other fans of this series, I know the more obvious representation here may be Luou, Junpei is So Good. his special interest is ballet and he has so many hangups involving how his family sees him and how other boys his age interpret him to the point that his idea of masculinity is extremely narrow and he enforces social rules on himself to mask and keep people from realizing that he loves something that Isn't Manly. he misinterprets social cues and takes things literally, like assuming that when Miyako asked him to dance with her she meant Right This Minute rather than as a pair in the studio. for some reason the point where he cuts his hair super short to prove his devotion to ballet is also sticking with me, I think maybe it's the combination of the way it's normal for boys/men in Japan to do that, yet Junpei didn't realize that kind of attitude/action didn't suit ballet at all? he wasn't aware that the context was completely different. Junpei also doesn't act or pretend very well, he's gotta put his whole entire ass into his roles, which he then proceeds to get TOO into and cause a lot of trouble, without giving too much away! he's really relatable to me as someone who's socially anxious but very skilled at masking, and seeing him become more comfortable with himself and start to show how he really feels is so inspiring to me."

sorry I'll always hate the epilogue for having miyuki forgive ida so easily, "I got help from the man i love :)" yeah the same man that didn't respect your wishes, was going to go behind your back to make you more "agreeable" so he could replace you, literally shut off the satellite you were trapped in to shut you up because he refused to listen to you, and on top of all that was grooming ryoko - a 16 year old!!!!!!!!!!!!! in what world would taking him back make sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
