How to Start a Furniture Export Business from India
The need for one-of-a-kind, handcrafted furniture is growing worldwide, and India is well-positioned to supply this demand thanks to its talented artisans and rich design legacy. India's furniture sector, which is currently ranked 12th in the world for furniture exports, is renowned for the elegance, robustness, and ethnic appeal that are preserved via the use of traditional crafting tools.
History and Evolution of Indian Furniture
In the past, floor seating and sleeping arrangements were the only options available to the common people in India, who lived in palaces, temples, and public places. Following their conquest, the Portuguese, Dutch, Mughals, and British all began making furniture for their own use. As a result, Indian furniture design became a fusion of several cultural elements.
Indian Furniture Production and Market Overview
India is the world's fifth-largest manufacturer and fourth-largest consumer of furniture. Leading producers in the industry include Godrej Interio, Woodenstreet, Durian Furniture, Nilkamal Furniture, and Hometown. By 2026, the around $30 billion Indian furniture market is expected to grow to above $32 billion.
Furniture Export Trends and Facts

With a projected $223.60 billion in revenue by 2024, living room furniture is the most popular market sector.
Furniture Export Data (2023-2024)

India's furniture exports were estimated to be worth $3.5 billion in 2022, despite a notable 36% drop in imports over the previous three years. ↠The last drop tour
| Part 1 | | Part 2 | | Part 3 |
This tour was designed to allow those who write and read fanfiction to finally visualize the Last Drop and have a solid map in hand. Specifically, I created it for a personal need, for my fanfiction Everytime It Rains, which you can read by clicking the title. This is part two, where you can see Silco's office in detail. Welcome back from your favorite guide, and enjoy!
Did you get something to drink? I hope so, because it's really packed in here. So, where did we leave off? We were supposed to enter the office, right? Well, sisters, and bros, and non-binary hoes, welcome!
Let's start from the left; I know it's a bit chaotic, but this is where Sevika used to come to drink even when Silco wasn't around, waiting for him faithfully. All those bottles are hers. The rug is from Piltover, you've probably recognized it, along with the iconic Last Drop glasses. That sturdy piece of furniture you see there, closer to his desk, is his safe. No one has the code except for him, me, and now you (it's 937). Since we're here, I might as well open it.
Face down, there's a photo depicting Vander, Silco, and Felicia on the bridge when they were younger—certainly well before Felicia got pregnant, given the length of Silco's hair. That strange map is a map of the mine tunnels, a relic from his past as a miner. And finally, the LP is "Our Love," ironically Vander's favorite song (as Jinx mentions in Jinx Fixes Everything), as well as Felicia's, Silco's, and Jinx's. It's in the safe because Silco treasures that vinyl so much that he doesn't leave it where it could get destroyed; he keeps it protected.
But let's close it up and move on. Here it is, the iconic desk. Since I'm a generous guide, I'll let you circle around it so you can see it from every angle. On top, there's the map of Piltover with the mug that Jinx made for him, while in the drawer, there's a mask to filter out the gray, the smog of Zaun, and a card that I think was used for blackmail. I can't say for sure, but it seems to be part of the man's shady dealings.
Next to his desk, on the right, there are two doors. They're not accessible, but since I doubt he'd want anyone to have such direct access to his office, in my fanfiction at least, there will be a room behind them with a double bed and some of his belongings.
But let's move on to the last piece! The huge map of Piltover and zaun with which he planned the export of Shimmer and weapons, where he kept track of everything that happened.
If you enjoyed or found this little tour useful, let me know, and feel free to check out my headcanons or my longfic! This tour has come to an end, but I might have material to create more in the future!

A DC X DP IDEA#14 His name is not Bruce Wayne, it’s…
Imagine dis…
It is another dimension travel between two fandoms but what if instead of having a Batman or even a Bruce Wayne in this dimension we have a Phantom?
Dick, Jason, and Tim are adopted by a well-known billionaire while Damian is a clone that escaped from Vlad before the brainwashing program was even added to the family.
Daniel Nightgale a billionaire industrialist, his godfather the founder and CEO of Vlad Co. gave him the entire company as a 21st birthday gift. Renamed as The Triple Pack Inc, a weird name yet their quality in terms of products as well their services was something nothing to laugh at.
Daniel Nightingale created a great legacy for both his hero persona to his mortal life.
A legacy that Dick, Jason, Tim, Ellie, and Damian Nightingale, all carry themselves with confidence as they strive to make their father proud as well look them in the eyes with pure adoration.
…
Each vigilante from Gotham had just turned in for the night after they have just busted a large illegal export of various technologies from different tech companies which had just been robbed senseless. While they didn’t know where the cargo was headed, they manage to stop whomever the client from gaining state in the top technology.
As Oracle logged off and went upstairs to catch the meager sleep she has ever since she entered this lifestyle, under the pile of confiscated tech she didn’t see the faint glowing of a mysterious green crystal that resembles a kryptonite, nor having the entire Wayne manor covered by a white light as each resident of the manor is now deep asleep.
…
Waking up Dick felt that his bed had shrunk, but he knew that his old room in the manor had stayed the same aside from the different trinkets as well as furniture seeing that he was no longer a child. As he tries to grab more hand full of the blanket before Alfred wakes them up but he noticed an extra baggage in his bed thinking that one of his brothers had just had a nightmare and decided to sleep in his bed, the moment he turned to face whichever brother snuck in his room he has faced a shocked face of himself looking at him wide-eyed.
Now note this duplicate is quite different from him, a bit taller as well having a bit broader shoulders as well a bit paler than Dick is. Dick immediately woke up and tried to get away from the intruder by kicking the stranger, it seems the stranger has the same idea and tried to kick Dick as well, but both fell off the bed. Just as they were about to fight off, multiple shots of guns came from the direction of another room just across the hallway, both Grayson (I couldn’t write his nickname without reading it weirdly) and an intense star off went to the door and lo and behold they saw double of their siblings.
Bruce is with that “face” indicating whether he should join in to stop the said fight or gather intel, in the end, he joined due to the fact the female double of Damian got him with a kick on the chest after tiring him out seeing that his son fought off two doubles of himself, one a female and one a paler and blue-eyed version of himself. This didn’t go as planned seeing another double join the fight, a buffer version of Bruce Wayne with a goatee and his hair tied grabbed him by the shoulder and joined the fray.
Each member of the Bat clan is now fighting each double of themselves, Dick who is about to ask and try to de-escalate the fight joined in due to the fact his “clone” suddenly helps Jason’s double make him join in.
Tim who was giving a hand to each member who was being pushed back suddenly had someone to keep him busy since the Demon brat’s double didn’t like that he is helping the others and joined in fighting, suddenly his double appeared still sleepy and disorganized, immediately joined in when he saw the commotion.
Jason fought his double when his double’s weird-looking gun looked like it ran out of battery, he pulled out a Lazarus green glowing sword and bought it into their gunfight, after cursing himself for not charging the gun the night prior. Now remember it is quite dumb for a person to bring a knife into a gunfight but the moment Jason’s double cut through a bullet as if it was butter, he knew that his double didn’t downgrade when he pulled out that knife.
It was when Alfred their butler and another person who has black hair and black eyes add to the fact that he is also wearing the same uniform their butler currently is wearing, shot out a green beam from a weird gun forcing them to be quiet. To try to figure out things.
After some exchange of information, the Bat clan was in a different dimension alongside their butler/grandfather. Both sides were able to be civil enough to move from the hallway and move to a study room. Each person sat with a clear distance between the two, now that both won’t attack sensibly, they could spot the difference between the two.
Tim’s double told them to call him Timothy, who is healthier and taller which made Alfred ask his younger alternate some tips on how he made them, especially Tim to be able to eat healthier, Sebastian, merely chuckled and said it is because of their father.
Jason’s double introduced as Jason Peter Nightingale and told them to call him Shade, instead of black hair and having a single white streak shade has full on white hair and has a single black streak on his head. Glowing green eyes made Jason uncomfortable seeing that his alternate might be in the state of his Pit rage.
Damian asked who is the person besides their double, who was introduced as Danielis, gesturing at the female version of himself. Danielis introduced the person beside them as his twin sister Danielle also known as Ellie.
Bruce is wary, every time they dimension hop he self is evil to the point, they destroyed the world or enslave it, but the buffer version just rolled his eyes as if sensing what his other version had thought of it. Then Ellie laughed at Dan’s expense and exclaimed that maybe he shouldn’t have destroyed the last timeline so Dad and grandfather wouldn’t ground him.
At Ellie’s exclaim the Bat clan warily looked at Dan who is about to quirk up a snark back, you destroy one timeline and everybody is against you.
When the front door suddenly made a loud noise, indicating someone entered the manor.
Each of them immediately went to hide including their versions as Sebastian stayed standing on his feet. A large and very broad man entered, with black hair and blue eyes. Ellie immediately revealed her position along with the others to pile on the stranger whilst yelling Danny or Dad, while the bats stayed at their hiding spot. As the others are laughing and speaking at the same time to get the man’s attention.
After cleaning off any imaginary dust his clothes may have, he just stands in a corner waiting for the rest of them to be quiet, which immediately indicates that it is not often to have their father is quiet.
After calming down and looking at each of his children, he sighed very loudly and pinched the bridge of his nose, and asked very loudly to his children why on earth they created a portal to another dimension when they have a perfectly good and working one at the basement.
Each of them began choking and shenanigans ensues as two fathers try to keep their respective children from either killing each other, trying to take over the world, or even how they complement each other to the point their very sanity is at stake.
…
Sorry I haven’t much posted I haven’t had many ideas to write on.
…

Blood, Sweat, and Tears—To Love Someone
Chapter 5 of ?: Pique
Pairing: March x Non-Binary Farmer (Ari)
Words: 4080
Warnings: language, the author does not understand blacksmithing, verbal fighting
Summary: Mistria is in a dire state after the earthquake hit. Adeline has invited a new adventurer to town to help out. March knows they won't last. Adventurers never last in Mistria. He can't wait to see Ari fail.
Chapter Summary: March decides to do something about the adventurer. Ari gets a surprise.
(No beta, we die like Dragonsworn.)
----------
The sun rose high over Mistria, the late heat of spring beating down on the small town. Summer would be arriving all too soon. Juniper had said at the inn last night that there was no chance of clouds or rain for a few days. Sounded like good forging weather to March. If only it wasn’t so hot. The back of his shirt was already drenched as he worked at the forge.
March had been feeling a buzz of excitement all morning. He’d dropped the letter off in Ari’s mailbox early before the sun rose. He was baiting them into a trap, he knew, but it was time they got some honesty. He hadn’t seen them in a few days, but he heard the praises everyone was singing about them.
“Ari had that tea party with Maple! She enjoyed it so much,” Reina had said as she talked to him while making him a meal.
“Ari helped me round up the animals before that bad spring storm rolled in the other day,” Hayden commented as he’d helped March move some of Merri’s furniture with Olric.
“Oh Ari? You wouldn’t believe the amount of product they're shipping! We’re bursting with fresh produce,” Nora revealed, tapping her clipboard as March helped move stock around the store.
“The museum is getting off to a great start thanks to their donations!” Errol stated as he went over the museum’s catalog of exhibited species and specimens.
“They’re helping uncover the mystery that is Mistria” Eiland exclaimed one night at the inn.
“They frequent the bathhouse, it’s good for business,” March had heard Juniper mention to Josephine as he entered the bathhouse.
“I’ve never had such a full woodpile in all my years!” Landen laughed joyously as he clapped his nephew on the shoulder while taking the latest delivery of nails.
“They sword fighted with me! I won! And they even gave me a wooden sword!” Dell shouted, thrashing a small, craved wooden sword about.
“‘They had a sword fight with me,’” Celine corrected. “Use your inside voice, Dell.”
“The town coffers are filling up fast thanks to their help! We’ve never exported so much before!” Adeline said, sipping her tea at the inn.
“Luc loved the chickpeas they brought in during Spring. Reina roasted them up with some salt and they turn out so crunchy! Luc got so excited.” Hemlock commented as he poured March a beer. “You should try some next Spring.”
Ari this, Ari that. All the praise irked him. They didn’t deserve it. So what if they were bringing people stuff? So what if they were entertaining the kids? That just meant they were goofing around. They couldn’t last. They wouldn’t last. He would ensure it.
The idea to bait them into his trap had come to him yesterday while talking with Balor.
“I’m sorry March, I have to find a new supplier again” Balor sighed after March had asked about his latest shipment.
“What? Why?”
“The price the current supplier was charging was too high. Five hundred Tesserae for a single ingot? That’s ridiculous. So, I politely told him to go fuck himself.” Balor smirked. “He even sent me a letter yesterday telling me off!” Balor let out a snort as he adjusted the wares on his cart. “I have never seen someone so childish and petty in my life.”
“I have,” muttered March.
----------
“Hi March!” Ari walked into the shop, the door bell jingling behind them. March looked up from behind the counter only to be blinded by their bright, flowery smile. It looked like they were putting it on extra thick today. He studied them for a minute. They wore a pale yellow tank top, black miniskirt, and the white tights they always seemed to wear. They looked like a bee. March stopped as he saw the scar on their left arm. It ran from the inner wrist to the elbow. Long, jagged, dark, and ugly. Another one rose from their chest, stretching haphazardly to their shoulder. How did they get those? Never mind, it wasn’t important to him.
“I didn’t think you’d actually show.”
“What? Why not?” He noticed the eye bags under their eyes as they approached. More welts and bruises covered their arms. What had they been up to? It didn’t matter. Now was his time to finally shine. No one was around to chide him. No one was around to protect Ari from the truth. He was going to let loose on them at last.
“I just figured you’d be slacking off.” He let himself lean on the counter, crossing his arms on the cool granite, trying to add to the air of his nonchalance.
Ari laughed. “March, I haven’t slacked off a day since I have been here. I have a job to do.”
“Hmph,” he huffed, pushing himself off the counter and coming around to stand in front of it. “I hear you’ve been making yourself useful around town.”
“I try,” Ari replied. “It’s hard work, but it’s not too bad.”
“Everybody only has good things to say about you.”
“That’s so nice!” Their damn smile brightened even more. How annoying. “It’s been lots of fun helping out!”
“Fun? Ugh.” March rolled his eyes.
Ari blinked at him, smile faltering. “What? It is fun…”
“Come on, we both know what’s ACTUALLY going on here.” Finally. FINALLY. March knew his words were going to sting. He knew they would get under Ari’s skin. And it brought him immense pleasure.
“I don’t know what you are talking about…” Ari’s eyebrows knit together, frown deepening. Their eyes were locked with his, confusion shooting out like an arrow and flying right at him. He was winning.
“Oh please,” he started. “ You’re in way over your head. You come out here, no money, no experience, and you think you can just fake your way through running a farm?”
“I-what?”
“And now everyone in town acts like it was YOU who won the first-place blacksmithing trophy three years running. It’s all fun and games now, but the second things actually get tough, I’m sure you’re going to ditch Mistria and its problems. Just like every other adventurer before you has.”
“I…” Ari paused for a moment before a bright burst of red took over their cheeks. “I’m not going anywhere!”
“We’ll see.”
Finally, after all this time, Ari cracked. Their anger showed through like a deep red moon in a clear night’s sky. Bright, direct, burning. Their mask had crumbled. He’d egged them on enough to see their true colors at last.
“Who the fuck do you think you are, March?” Ari approached him, anger clear in their voice. “I’m here, trying to help! And you’ve done nothing but be rude to me! I’m not expecting you to be grateful. I don’t care what people feel about me. I don’t demand respect. But at least be honest with me for fucks sake. What the hell are you trying to say?”
He’d broke Ari. He’d broke Ari. Glee pooled in his gut. He was getting a rise out of them at last.
“You want me to be honest? I know your game. You’re just here to take your stupid renown. You just want something to hold to your name. You’re just stupid capital scum, nothing more. Barely worthy of the title of adventurer.”
“You don’t know what I have been through, March.” Ari’s spat as their eyes narrowed. “You don’t know the pain and sacrifice it took to get here. Everything I have lost, you don’t know jack shit about it.” Ari approached and thrust a finger into March’s chest.” I am damn worthy of my title as an adventurer! But you wouldn’t know anything about that. I bet you’ve never even left this town!”
“Of course I’ve left Mistria.” March slapped their finger away. Ari stared up at him, seemingly begging him to go on. “I had to do my internship somewhere to be accepted to the blacksmithing guild! Cassius Smithy and Jewelry in the capital gladly took me on as an apprentice. I worked for two damn years in the hellhole. You don’t know shit, Ari.”
Ari looked like they had been stricken. They backed up slowly. “Cassius…? There is no way you got into Cassius’.”
“Heard of it? I’m sure you went there on daddy’s dime. Oh wait, they only service the highest of nobility. I don’t think you’re that important in the grand scheme of things.” March pointed to a certificate on the wall.
‘Excellence in Craft - Cassius Smithy and Jewelry’
“Read it and weep, adventurer,” March sneered.
Ari paused, tears suddenly brimming around the edges of their eyes. “You’re the one who doesn’t know shit, March! You know absolutely nothing about me and dare to challenge who I am. You think a noble would be an adventurer? You think I chose this life? Well, think again. I’m here and I am doing my job. And I plan to do it to completion!”
“You think you can hack it for the long haul?” March walked over to the counter where the tools were displayed. He grabbed the copper hoe and threw it at Ari who fumbled the catch, just managing to grab it before it slipped through their fingers. “If you fail, you can’t blame it on a lack of help from me. Who knows, maybe you’ll surprise me. I doubt it though. All you adventurers share the same lack of persistence. I’ll be keeping an eye on you. See you around, Ari.”
And with that, March turned and walked back to his drafting desk. There was a soft rustling followed by a loud ‘thunk’ before the door slammed shut a moment later, the bell banging against the glass of the door. He swore that he heard a loud cry of frustration come from outside the smithy. A wicked smirk consumed him. That was just the push Ari needed. They’d be gone in no time.
When he finally got up from working on blueprints, he noticed something lying on the floor near the main counter. He walked over and picked it up, turning it over in his hand slowly. It was still covered in dirt, so he brushed it off, cursing Ari for bringing something so dirty into his shop. He paused as he looked at it. An iron ore. How in the world did Ari get that? He knew from Olric’s recountings that iron was more than 20 levels down in the mines. There was no way they had gotten that deep.
There was no way…
----------
March headed out to the forge, ready to work on his latest project from the capital. Yet another display piece. This time, a Caldosian-style rapier. The client had requested the guard and pommel be gold, with extra silver inlay framing the decorative cuts in the guard. Tedious work, but he could get it done before tonight.
March started the forging process, first heating the gold and forming the guard. He punched the metal to form small holes, then grabbed his hot chisel and started cutting the metal, expanding the holes. He placed the hot gold back in the forge, then grabbed a silver ingot to throw in the forge to start melting.
Right as he placed the metal into the forge, a lone cloud appeared to block the sun. It floated just south of town, white, fluffy, harmless. March observed it, noticing how small it was. Just one cloud. He shrugged and turned back to his forge, poking the fire to stoke the flames higher.
It took a minute for him to realize that it was getting dark. March looked back up to the sky, puzzled. Juniper had said no clouds, no rain. But somehow the lone cloud had morphed into a sea of dark clouds. Something wet hit March on his shoulder, and then all hell broke loose.
The downpour didn’t start with a small drizzle. No, it unleashed all at once, rain flooding the streets.
“SHIT.”
March dropped his stoker and shut the door of the forge before covering his head and running for the smithy. The rain came down in pounding sheets, killing any visibility he had. He’d almost missed the shop door entirely, the heavy rain blocking his line of sight almost completely. He yanked the door open and retreated into the dryness of the building.
He was soaked. From the top of his head to the soles of his boots. Water pooled underneath him, dripping off in heavy drops. What had just happened? There had been no sign of rain, no clouds. And then… torrential downpour. It confused him.
The rain seemed to scream ‘fuck you,’ keeping him from his work. March walked to the bathroom, leaving a trail of small puddles after him. He grabbed a towel and walked back to look out the front windows. There was zero visibility, none. He shook his hair with the towel, noticing the way fresh dye from yesterday stained the white towel red. Great.
Within 5 minutes of rolling in, the clouds dissipated almost instantly, leaving a clear sky and rising steam in their wake. How had it happened? March knew the weather didn’t work like that. It was damn near impossible for rain to roll in so suddenly and then disappear just as fast.
As he stepped back outside, March took his boots off one by one, dumping out the water that had pooled in them. The forge was still burning, thank god, but the gold of the guard had melted too much to be salvaged by the time he got back to it. He’d have to redo the guard. March groaned and threw his towel on the ground.
----------
“That was magical rain,” Juniper said with little interest as she sat at the bar that evening. She was sipping a wine that Valen had bought them to share. Probably expensive, knowing Valen.
He hadn’t come to the inn looking for answers about the rain exactly. But given the way Juniper seemed to know the weather better than anyone, she probably had an idea of what happened. So, he asked. But magic?
“What?” March stared at her dumbfounded. “Mag-there is no way. That’s not real!”
“I don’t know, March.” Valen mused, grabbing Juniper’s hand and raising it to her lips. “There’s more to the world than you think.”
“I-” March looked back to Juniper.
“Why don’t you go ask Ari about it? I’m sure they’ll have some answers.” Juniper smirked at him, rolling her glass of wine.
“Fuck you!” March stormed off. Ari. Of course, it was Ari. If they had answers, he was going to get them.
“Woah, I’ve seen that before. Sounds like someone is down ba-”
March didn’t hear the rest of what Hemlock said as he threw the door open and exited the inn.
----------
Ari stared at the slice of cake on the table, a lone candle burning down slowly. ‘Happy birthday to me,’ they thought. No family or friends to wish them a happy birthday. No one in Mistria even knew that it was today. Ari didn’t bother to tell anyone. Not like they had the chance with all the work they’d been doing and errands they’d been running. Twenty-three years old and they sat all alone in a run-down cabin on a forgotten farm, energy thin from the exhausting day. What had their life turned into? Quietly, they muttered a ‘happy birthday’ to themself and blew out the candle.
If they were back at the guild hall, it would have been an all-out party. Noisemakers and balloons, pizza and lemonade. A rare delicacy for the guild. The guild never carried many Tesserae in it’s stores, but what it did carry made sure to allow for special moments of celebration. Ari remembered the gift they had gotten from the guild last year, a new quilt for their bed. They looked over to the bed now, admiring the gift they had made sure to pack. The bright colors of the fabric, the invisible warmth of the thick batting, the tight stitches that led to perfect corners.
Ari knew how to quilt. They had learned it when they were little. Just one of the litany of ‘ladies’ hobbies’ they’d had to learn to please mother and fit into high society. Did they like to do it? Hell no. But could they? Yeah. Trench had made the quilt for them. It had taken months, he said. Picking the fabric was the hardest part. But the most important part was the little piece of Antonio that had been quilted in. A piece of one of his remaining shirts. Something their guildmates had hidden from Ari for 2 years before finding a good use for it.
Ari had cried. They’d cried so hard it hurt. They thought the one shirt of Antonio’s that they had saved was the last remaining piece. But to think that Otter demanded another shirt be saved just for them. It broke their heart.
They walked over to the quilt now, running a hand along the dark fabric of the shirt. It was moments like these where Ari desperately missed the guild. The comradery was all-consuming. The guild was their family. Sure, they knew other factions weren’t like that, close-knit and tied together. But Otter made sure that his faction of the greater adventurer’s guild remained a home for those who were lost and weary. It accepted everyone, regardless of background.
When they had walked into the guild, explaining who they were and where they had come from, Otter had welcomed them with open arms. He and the others had immediately gotten their pronouns right after the first and only time Ari sheepishly had to correct Otter’s accidental misgendering. Anyone who didn’t comply after that got corrected by Antonio. A solid hit on the head with his wooden training sword did the trick. Ari was forever grateful to the men of the guild who treated them as an equal, never questioning their ability. Well, Antonio had questioned their ability up until the very end, but Antonio never really trusted anyone to do, well, anything.
A loud pounding on the door drew Ari from their thoughts. They weren’t expecting someone tonight. Maybe it was Celine with a new book recommendation? Ari hoped not through. The path down to the farm was way too dark to be walking alone. Not to mention all the roots that had yet to be pulled out. They really needed to get on that. Ari added it to their mental list.
They opened the door, expecting to find Celine with a warm smile and a book in hand. But instead, March loomed just outside the door, face clearly red despite the dim lighting.
“What did you do,” March demanded, fists clenched at his sides.
“Huh?” Ari looked up at the man, blinking a few times as their eyes adjusted to the darkness around him.
“What did you fucking do?”
What did they do? Nothing seemed to come to mind. “I don’t know what you are talking about, March.”
“The rain, the fucking rain, Ari! I know you did it!” March was yelling, his voice echoing through the farm. Ah, the rain. This was about the rain they’d summoned. The rain they had summoned at just the right moment to spite him.
“Whatever do you mean?” Ari smirked. If he wanted to see what real ‘capital scum’ could do, then he was about to see it. With all the targets they’d seduced on jobs before, ha. If mother had taught them one thing, it was how to eat a man alive from the inside. To make him fall, to beg.
“You…” March started. “I was at the forge. I know you planned it.”
“Planned what?” Ari reigned their voice in. Made it drip like liquid gold.
“The rain!” He threw up his hands in the air. “Don’t play dumb!”
“Apologize,” Ari commanded, tone simple and matter of fact.
“What?!” March lowered his hands clenching his fists at his side again, eyes narrowing.
“Apologize to me.” Ari crossed their arms, squaring up with March despite the height difference.
“Why the hell would I do that?!”
“Well,” they started. “If you don’t want a rainstorm rolling in right when you are in the middle of forging every few days…it might be a wise idea.” A smug smile tugged at Ari’s lips. Sure, their plan was seeping through at the moment, like light through a cracked door. But it was thrilling to get this rise out of March. To get back at him for all he had said.
“Fucking mage,” March spat.
Ari rolled their eyes and shrugged, starting to close the door.
“Wait!” March shoved his boot in the door, preventing it from closing all the way.
Ari opened the door back up and stared at him expectantly. “Yes, March?”
“I knew you were wearing a mask! There is no way someone can be that bright and bubbly all the time! You’re just capital sc-”
Ari knocked March’s boot out of the door and went to close it again.
“I’m sorry, ok?!”
Ari opened the back up this time to its full width. “For what,” they asked, tone sickly sweet, dripping with desire. All according to plan.
Ari watched as March seemed to shiver. “F-for…augh!” March ran his hands through his hair before taking and breath and composing himself. “I’m sorry for being rude.”
“Thank you March, that’s very kind of you, I accept your apology.” Ari made sure to slap on their polite capital smile for good measure. Mission success.
“Fuck you.” March huffed and turned away, starting the walk back to Mistira. Ari watched as he trekked off. And they couldn’t help but laugh gleefully as March tripped over one of the exposed roots on the path. He looked back and threw up his middle finger before disappearing into the night.
“Have a good night,” Ari called, raising their middle finger in response.
The moment they shut the door, they collapsed on the floor, a weeping mess. They felt it instantly. All the grossness that was the mask they wore in the capital. The mask their mother had taught them to wear. To be more assertive. To be more domineering. To win against the women who they competed with. To secure a man. How easily they had let that mask slip back into place.
Ari wasn’t like that. Not anymore. Sure, for jobs? They could summon it up, the seductive glances, the honey that dripped from their lips. Ari had captured many men before that way. But it wasn’t them, not anymore. They’d washed themselves clean of it years ago, vowing to change who they were at their core. Allowing themselves to be them. Who they really were.
Slick had always described them as kind and spirited. Guardian as sweet and sensitive. Ginko as hardworking and airheaded. And Otter as clumsy and overeager to please. All those were true, Ari knew. They’d become someone different. But the way they had played the part so easily, the way they had challenged March, it made them sick.
‘Happy birthday to me’ Ari thought. ‘Happy birthday to the piece of capital scum.’
----------
The next morning, Ari awoke to find a new letter in their mailbox. Hopefully not from March again. The letter was unaddressed from the sender. They brought it into the cabin and sat down to read it. Could it be from someone in the guild? It would make sense that way seeing as it was unaddressed. They read the words slowly.
Princess,
I’ll be stopping by in a few weeks to check on you. I’ll arrive on Summer 14. I’ve already sent a letter to Adeline and she will secure me a room at the inn. All I need from you is a willing attitude and a listening ear. You better not be slacking off. That is not a warning, it is a threat.
Otter
Ari practically squealed with delight, kicking their feet. Otter was coming! They were going to see Otter! They’d get to introduce him to the town. They’d get to show him Mistria. Ari walked outside and looked over the farm, deflating. Shit. The farm. They had cleaned it a little bit. Just enough to have a functional patch to farm on and a clear area around Caldarus’ statue. Sure, they were also clearing land for a barn after having helped fix the mill, but it was slow going.
Ari had some work to do.
----------
Author's Note:
Hey y’all! Shimmer here! I had fun with this one. So much fun. March and Ari’s fight was the first thing I wrote. It’s good to see Ari fighting back instead of being passive for once. There’s a lot to their backstory and I keep finding out more about it the more I write. I’m super excited for the next chapter. It’s not what I was expecting to happen at all. See you then! Thanks for reading! <3

…Confession time. I don’t actually know much? Ironic considering I’ve lived in Unova before. Driftveil City kids, feel free to interact, especially if your parents were involved in the exporting business.
Yankee.
Shut up. Anyhow, yeah, I really don’t know much about them. They’re Grass-Type, Fairy too I think, michevious …Roto?
Believe or not, I have a story about a Whimiscott, bzzt!
Around where I was raised, there was this Whimiscott that constantly used to ruin the hatchery, bzzt. It left cotton spores everywhere, and some of the workers had allergies, so they’d be sneezing all day! Or another time, it somehow moved all of the furniture on top of the house, bzzt!
That’s kinda funny though.
Not when you’re the one getting it off the roof. Anywayz, one day, they had enough, and so they set up this huge fan nearby. The Whimiscott came, about to start its usual tricks and they turned the fan on and blew it straight off its course, bzzt! All that was left behind was its giant cotton hair.
….Your ultimate revenge was making it bald.
What’s your point, bzzt.
….Nothing really. Wait, weren’t you hatched in Galar?
Born and raised, bzzt! <(˘ ˘ ˘)>
Yankee.
I’m going to electrocute you.

Clonevania: Master of Darkness
If you follow me on Twitter, you might've seen that my brother recently gifted me a Steam Deck for a wedding present. Being the educated soul that I am, my first priority with this impressive handheld was not to play the shiny new remake of Resident Evil 4, but to put emulators and ROMs on it so I could successfully play games released three decades ago.
One of these games was 1992's Master of Darkness, which was released for both the Sega Master System and the Game Gear. Master of Darkness has at least three names depending on its platform and region, and the few people who've written about it on the internet have called it Vampire, Vampire: Master of Darkness or In The Wake of Vampire, creating the illusion that this lone game is an entire franchise.
But Master of Darkness is the exact opposite of a franchise - rather, it's a single title that Sega released to mimic Castlevania when Konami's series was still a Nintendo exclusive. It falls fully in clone territory, and I first became aware of this game when I was a kid reading through the section on The Castlevania Dungeon about "Castlevania-like games." There, it's described as "worth a shot, if only to see the shamelessness."
I'll dare to make a hot take and call that a harsh analysis of Master of Darkness, though maybe I just have a high tolerance for obscure games that resemble more famous titles when you squint. Master of Darkness is far from the crappiest Castlevania clone I've played (that award goes to Castle of Shadows, a piece of mobile shovelware that's no longer available on any app stores), and there's a special kind of B-movie charm that the game radiates.
Instead of putting you in the role of a buff Belmont vampire hunter, for instance, you play a London occultism expert dubbed Ferdinand Social - a truly top-tier name for a protagonist. Social learns that Dracula is going to wreak havoc thanks to his trusty ouija board, which sends him an eerie message one night and serves as Master of Darkness' creative password screen. Taking his knife in hand, Social pursues leads to the Thames and faces Jack the Ripper, who's collecting bodies to fuel Dracula's resurrection. Social's journey then takes him to a creepy house of wax, a graveyard, a laboratory, and finally Transylvania itself.
It's an interesting selection of levels, and while you'll occasionally have to navigate Social through stained glass towers filled with swinging pendulums exported from just about any Castlevania, there are also some original moments. The house of wax, in particular, really makes the skin crawl with poltergeist-animated furniture and creepy women in white who only become alive after you move past them. The late 1800s setting also adds a Hammer Horror-esque flair to Master of Darkness that sets it apart from Castlevania, a series primarily known for its pre-Victorian vampire killing romps (with the exception of a handful of entries - most notably Bloodlines and Portrait of Ruin, neither of which had been released back in '92).
But while Master of Darkness' levels might be charming for evoking the same aesthetic as '70s British horror, they drag with repetitive design. Each level relies way too much on stairs, and while Social isn't as annoying to control on staicases as Simon Belmont was, Simon always traversed through tight levels that never got monotonous. In contrast, each level of Master of Darkness is huge, and after the twentieth staircase, it all starts to blend together. The game also has a habit of locking the player in a single room and forcing them to survive a gauntlet of foes, which becomes old fast. Then there's the last level - a labyrinth of interconnected screens that's just as much fun as most labyrinths are in video games.
Master of Darkness could've benefited from tighter level design for sure. And to stand out from Castlevania, it also could've done away with Dracula as a big boss, since his final appearance is pretty unmemorable anyway. Any other famous horror presence would've helped this game stand out from its competition, and besides, Ferdinand Social seems like an everyman sort of dude. I can easily see his ouija board warning him about Frankenstein's monster, a demon lord or some other denizen of evildom.
Social never got a chance to fight alternate baddies, since Castlevania stopped being a Nintendo exclusive when Bloodlines hit the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in '94, and I doubt that a huge contingent of Sega owners wanted the clone once the real thing was accessible. Still, something about Master of Darkness sticks with me, and it's certainly worthy of an afternoon if you enjoy emulating forgotten gems with say, a Steam Deck.
Honestly, I kinda wish some studio would get the rights from Sega for a remake. I doubt they're interested, but Lizardcube - the company that made Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Streets of Rage 4 - would be a great choice. Drop the Dracula stuff for a focus on other gothic icons, fix the repetitive levels, invest in hand-drawn art, and boom, you've got something that could win a niche yet loyal audience, especially since Castlevania is now a series pretty much stuck in limbo. Personally, if I were in charge of the never-will-happen Master of Darkness reboot, I'd make Jack the Ripper the main bad guy. Maybe Jack's killing victims to power some kind of immortality soul engine, and Ferdinand Social has to navigate through ten London landmarks to bring him to justice, culminating in an awesome fight on the clock hands of Big Ben. Now that's a plot worthy of a Hammer flick.

June 3rd - June 5th
Hi! Sorry for the late update. You will understand why I was delayed as you read!
I spent the day of June 3rd exploring Amsterdam and its beautiful canals. I fell in love with the area more and more, the longer I was there. Not everything was entirely up my alley or appropriate, but the architecture and the greenery made up for the aspects I did not enjoy as much.
We started our day off at a cafe across the street from the Anne Frank House. It was a cute cafe specializing in making the Dutch version of pancakes. They were a type of doughy crape drenched in powdered sugar and Nutella. I was not the biggest fan of the pancakes but did enjoy the Dutch tea.
After we ate, we made our way to the Anne Frank House. Unfortunately, we did not have tickets to the museum that was built inside the house. We did, however, get to see the outside (picture 13). Me and the group I was traveling with, loved being able to see a place that we had read about in books. We stood by the canal looking onward towards the house. While standing there, we were shocked by the way people were making a mockery of the house. It was odd to see so many people take inappropriate selfies in front of such a heartbreaking monument. We saw people throwing peace signs, giving a Nazi salute, and more as we stood there. It was disheartening to see how many people treated this historic place like a joke, but I am still glad I was able to visit and capture the house as a memory and read the stories again with a visual reflection.
We eventually made our way down the canal and visited the tulip museum (I know, very different from the jarring vibes before). This cheered us up a bit. We learned about the history of Tulips and how it is one of the main exports in the Netherlands. We were sad to find out they were not in bloom any longer. Something cool that we saw throughout the museum was silk (picture 3) and wooden tulips (picture 2). We learned that these were made as a way to represent the fields in the off-season and that they take great pride in their exports. We left the museum after buying some souvenirs and saw this gorgeous part of the canal (picture 1). It felt like everywhere we turned, there was something beautiful to look at.
Then came the most significant learning lesson I have ever gotten. Amsterdam has little to no bathrooms in stores or attractions. You must use them while at a restaurant or Cafe. We had stopped in a small bookstore, and I asked the Shopkeep if there was a bathroom next door and he said to try the Coffee Shop next door.
A Coffee Shop and Cafe are two very different places and things. A Cafe is a place where you can get coffee and tea. In a Coffee Shop you can buy things like Weed and Cocaine. I did not know this. Imagine my surprise when I walk in and ask the man behind the counter if I may use their restroom in butchered Dutch, and he asks if I am 18. I said yes, and then he told me to walk through the shop all the way to the back. I passed many people doing legal drugs in Amsterdam that are not legal in America.
I learned my lesson and am a tad traumatized from the experience. After that, we decided to shop at T.K. Maxx (T.J. Maxx in America) and Brandy Melville. Though I did not buy anything from these stores, it was cool to check out Dutch clothing and everyday streetwear.
We then decided to try the famous Dutch fries for a late lunch (picture 4). They were amazing! I had barbecue fries with their house seasoning, and it was perfect. We then stopped at a small bakery where we bought fresh bread and macaroons resembling the Netherlands flag (picture 5).
As a group, before coming here, we decided that we wanted to take a canal cruise at sunset. It was the best decision we could have made! We caught it at the perfect time and saw so many beautiful places (pictures 6, 7, & 8). On our hour journey, we learned that the hooks on the top of the buildings were used to propel furniture up to the top floor and to dry out herbs during the day. The guide also shared how they used to be taxed for how big their doors were and how many windows the building had! I also learned why so many buildings are slender. In the 15th century, there were tight land-use regulations because of the fragility of the terrain. To reduce weight, planning mandated that facades be constructed using lightweight materials with big windows. The reason why the majority of Amsterdam houses are slender and narrow is that taxes were assessed based on the width of the frontage. After this, we returned to the hotel and prepared for our next day of traveling.
We left pretty early on June 4th because the bus and train systems are in Dutch, and not knowing the language we did not want to misinterpret the language and miss our flight. The language wasn’t a barrier but security was. One of the girls I was traveling with checked her bag, but I only had a carryon and unfortunately that sent up a red flag in security and I experienced a full pat down, not once, but twice. I had my passport evaluated by four security guards who asked a lot of questions. We were also followed loosely all the way to our gate. Confused, we boarded our plane and took off. I was sitting in between a very nice Irish woman and a man that seemed to be very high and slept the whole flight. Anything is better than how I flew into Amsterdam.
We got off the plane and met with another classmate who was in Scotland for the weekend. The four of us then found a taxi and took the day to ourselves. I returned to my room at about 4 p.m. in the afternoon but was extremely tired. After calling my parents, I fell asleep so quickly. That's what walking 27,000 steps the previous day will do to you.
I woke up at 9 a.m. the next morning. I was, in fact, not ready for the day at all. Today we had a lesson on Gaelic games at one of the local gyms (picture 9). In a short introduction, we were told we would be learning how to play Hurling, Gaelic Football, and Handball.
We started off with Gaelic Football. The rules are simple. You have a goal post similar to Soccer with a goalie. The catch is, there is another goal post that looks more like the one you see in American football just behind the other goal post. If you score in the goal post with the goalie in it, you score 3 points. You will get one point if you kick the ball into the one above the goalie. The way to run with the volleyball-looking ball is to take four steps, dribble it once, run another four, and then drop-kick it back to yourself. You can pass the ball by underhand serving it (like in volleyball) or drop kicking it. You cannot pick up the ball; you have to kick the ball up to your hands. Sounds like four or more American sports all in one. Simple, right?
Not if you are not coordinated and I am not a coordinated individual. I was aware of that before this class, but I was humbled by the end of the game. My team did win, and I did score two of the goals by shooting above the goalie, but I had about a 30% accuracy rate, which I should have left out of this story but for the full story I added it. My parents would say I did great!
We then moved on to Handball. This is played with a hard ball that feels like steel when it hits your hands (picture 11). The goal of this game is to bounce the ball off the wall with the tip of your fingers. You must then move away from the ball and let your opponent hit it back to the wall. It goes on and on until one of you drops the ball. I was awful at this game and did not win the tournament. I wasn't last, but I was also far from first!
We then went back to the field to play Hurling. This game is described as a mix of Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Rugby. All sports I have never played and never intended to play or will never play again.
The rules for this are a bit more challenging and tricky. You have a wooden stick that is flat on the end with a slight curve and a ball (picture 10). This ball also feels like steel when it hits you. You must wear helmets for this game because of how easy it is to be hit by the stick or the ball. To score in this game is the exact same for Gaelic football. You have a goal post similar to Soccer with a goalie in it. The catch is there is another goal post that looks like the one in football again. If you score in the goalpost with the goalie in it, you score 3 points. You will get one point if you kick the ball into the one above the goalie. To run with the ball, you can balance it on the stick or hit it up constantly and have it land on the stick. You can also use the stick like golf and hit it in. You cannot pick up the ball, you must flick it up with the stick or your feet. To pass, you must throw the ball in the air and hit it with the stick like in Baseball.
The reason why this blog post is late is that during our game of hurling, I got hit by a hurling stick. Unfortunately, a hurling stick found its way under my helmet where it was stuck and it dragged me down to the ground. My neck and shoulders felt the brunt of the stick. After the match was over, we went back to our rooms. I was in a lot of pain no matter how I stood or sat, so I took some medicine I brought with me, made a makeshift neck brace and chose to sleep the rest of the day away.
All in all, it was a fantastic adventure in Amsterdam and I would return to see the tulips in bloom but stay out of Coffee Shops. As for Ireland, I would sit out playing the games but attend as a spectator at any sporting event.
