VITD Sims Lookbook: Alice

And finally, with Victor and Smiler done, we finish off with some looks for our lovely Cutter, Alice!

Alice gets straight into the custom content with one of her everyday outfits, wearing the blue swatches of the 1890s Working Girl set by @vintagesimstress! And unlike the last time I showed her in this outfit, this time she has the apron overlay to go with it. XD Looks good on her AND gives her the proper working-class vibes!

For bedtime, Alice gets a pretty nightgown -- and much like Smiler, while they're not era-appropriate, I had to give Alice the cute bunny slippers too. XD What, we know she likes white rabbits! If I remember correctly, that nightgown is a dress that comes with the Cottage Garden Fan Stuff Pack made by @plumbobteasociety -- I thought it looked nice as nightwear for her.

For that semi-formal party everyone's going to, Alice gets a Realm of Magic top and skirt that make her look at least somewhat respectable. While I think the outfit as a whole is a little pale, I really wanted to use that top on her -- I think she looks good in it. And the skirt ended up working with it pretty well (which is good, because it took me ages to find one that actually went with the top. Some of this shit is HARD to match, let me tell you!).

And for a formal occasion -- well, unlike the boy and the non-binary person, Alice doesn't need to rely on CC here. Get Famous provides a beautiful Victorian dress for her to swan around in! (Though I should probably download a few for her anyway, for variety's sake -- or at least a couple of hats that might go well with this outfit. Head looks a little naked here!) She looks ready for a day in Brightstone, doesn't she?

Okay, admittedly I didn't intend this outfit as an athletic outfit, just another everyday one (though I suppose Alice COULD wear it for working out). And this Cats & Dogs dress is probably a little too modern to fit the proper BITD vibes. But I really like it for the simple reason the patchwork skirt looks like something Alice made herself -- finding and saving up scraps of fabric so she could have something else to wear besides her iconic striped blouse and black skirt. And you can't deny, it DOES look good on her!

And finally, for those chilly days, Alice gets in on the cozy vibes with a cherries-and-flowers theme -- the sweater (and I believe the skirt) is from Cottage Living, while the hat is a recolor created by Plumbella (from "illegally downloading clothes for my sims," in this SimFileShare folder (as you might imagine, it's the one called "beret")). She looks pretty comfy -- and those boots were definitely made for stomping around the streets in the snow and rain.

posting a lot on this blog tonight lol but remembering how I HORRIBLY fumbled so many artist connections in college bc my anxiety had me too paralyzed to send emails... like... I met an INCREDIBLE artist while working in the gallery who I had such a genuine conversation with about being an orphan/processing that grief and all the feelings with it through creating.. she asked me to send her my work and I just... didn't.... c'mon Ambs like..... why didn't I fucking send her an email...... why.......

and in 2019 I went to fucking KANSAS to be in a large scale performance with another incredible artist... I was an art handler for them for the two weeks we were there... I met Tod fucking Seelie... I drank bourbon with my legendary professor... I got a scholarship to go to arrowmont.... but I just..... never reached out again once the pandemic started and like ...... what ..........

mourning that time of my life because like.. I really dipped my tiny little toes in the art world and got such cold feet I don't even create like that anymore.... auuuuuuuuuuugh ... bashing my head in wtf why didn't I cultivate those relationships .......

I do really miss going to gallery openings and meeting local artists and going to artist talks/lectures and entering shows and handling art and and and and

maybe one day I'll come back to it. hopefully

I hate that my perfectionism makes me so sensitive to negative feedback. I honestly thought I was getting a handle on it because I've been able to ease some of the pressure off myself when doing some assignments and preparing for exams. Telling myself its ok if I do badly (although admittedly I still consider a as doing badly). But then I keep doing well anyways. So I haven't really had to face that blow to myself worth of getting a lower grade than expected. (In fact, so far this semester I have been doing incredibly well in my classes, getting top scores on exams, etc).

Then I find out I've done really badly an assignment (that is one of many and won't really affect my grade in the long run) and I felt like crying.

I'll throw the rest of this under the cut because its just me going over the specific details but I still need to get it off my chest.

So how badly did I do? 37.5% (6 out of 16 pts). It was a German assignment to get us to practice our pronunciation, particularly rolling our R's, so we had to record ourselves saying some phrases. Recording myself makes me anxious to begin with but my house can sometimes be chaotic and loud which then makes me even more anxious that something will happen while I'm trying to record. Specifically, I have cats that will meow and walk all over my desk if they are allowed in my room and will scratch at the door and meow if I close them out of my room. On top of that (and even more annoyingly if I'm being honest), my mom talks SO loudly and will yell across the house to communicate. She'll also play music/audiobooks loudly. I can tell her (and the rest of my family) that I'm going to record and she'll make sure to be quiet but I feel extra self-conscious if I know that people know I'm recording/speaking aloud. I also get self-conscious about audio quality especially because I was using a pair of headphones that are dying.

So with all that I was feeling pretty anxious and had already been feeling a little anxious before seeing that assignment. I just wanted to get it done so that it wasn't looming over me the rest of the weekend and I felt like I had to get it done as quickly as possible to limit the risk of a disruption occurring (I could see that there was a cat outside my door and she was one who would start scratching if I didn't let her in promptly). So admittedly I was rushing and hadn't practiced as much as I should have before recording. I also was suffering from allergies so that made it difficult to speak clearly.

And if I'm being honest, I thought the assignment would mainly be graded for completion and I didn't realize it was going to be highly scrutinized.

So I recorded the assignment in an anxious rush while also not putting in as much effort as I should have. But I didn't even realize I hadn't put in enough effort until the following class period when people were talking about how stressful it was. I'm used to putting in too much effort by comparison to my peers so I assumed that others wouldn't have really taken it that seriously.

Anyways, I finally get the grade back on the assignment today, a few weeks after the submitting the assignment, and I was devastated. What made it even worse was that the grader left feedback in the form of an audio recording (it didn't sound like my normal professor but I'm not 100% it was someone else). Really low grade on top of getting grader feedback on top of having to actually listen to that feedback being spoken (and not just reading a comment) just made me feel terrible.

(If a different instructor did grade it and leave the feedback as I suspect it also makes it worse because my professor considers me as one of the best students in the class. Therefore my professor would have the context that I am a really good student even if I struggled on this one assignment.)

So I feel awful but at that point it was time for family dinner. I know my mom noticed that I was in a bad mood, but I'm too embarrassed about WHY I feel terrible to talk about. Especially since it would most likely lead to a well meaning conversation about how she feels bad that I go through this type of stress and both my parents saying this is why it's so important for me to address my perfectionism and get it under control. So I tried my best to hide the cause of my distress.

And I know it really won't matter in the long run because its a handful of points out of many in the homework category.

To say that you and Nika were in trouble by the events of last night was a little bit of an understatement. Both of your phones were blowing up by your respective coaches, teammates, close friends, and all of your social media accounts.

As you scrolled through your tiktok, text messages, instagram tags, and just about everything else on your phone while laying next to Nika's sleeping figure in her bed, it only reaffirmed one thing in your head.

With your volleyball season and Nika's basketball season being in their respective peaks during this time of year, you had barely gotten a chance to spend time with your girlfriend alone. The two of you were either travelling for away games, at practice, in class, hanging out with your friends or teammates, or busy studying. Needless to say, you missed Nika. A lot.

Which, combined with the weed pen you were hitting periodically, loosened your inhibitions to a whole new level inside of Ted's fairly crowded bar.

It wasn't jam-packed, but there was a decent crowd of older college students for a Friday night in October, especially since Halloween was soon to be approaching in two weeks.

Normally, you and Nika weren’t big on PDA, at most you would hold hands or give small pecks around the team, considering the fact that the two of you kept your relationship very much on the down low, not so much a secret as very private. You kissed her passionately, deepening the kiss as you slipped your tongue into her mouth, the mixture of the rum and coke she was drinking earlier and the earthy taste of weed making your head spin.

You continued to make out for a few minutes, gently pulling away while tugging her bottom lip with your teeth, gazing down at her closed eyes and blissful expression.

"You finally ready to go home Niks?" You teased, licking your swollen lips at her finally needy expression.

"We're getting the fuck out of here, right now," she rushed out, flagging down the bartender to pay off her tab and the second she got her credit card in hand, interlocked her fingers with yours to drag you out of the bar.

Completely unbeknownst to the two of you, KK and her live had been at the table diagonal to you the whole time, and while her body covered the two of you behind her while sitting, the only shield you had quickly disappeared when she stood up, leaning over the table to steal some of Ice's food when it had been set down, completely exposing you to her two thousand viewers, who were no doubt screen-recording.

The camera clearly caught your lips against Nika's blowing smoke into her mouth before leaning in to kiss her, and despite the two of you being on screen for less than a minute, it was enough to cause an internet commotion.

KK's eyes scanned over the comments as she sat back down, blocking your frames as she shoved a few fries in her mouth. Her eyes widened at the sudden influx of comments about you and Nika, leaning in to figure out what was going on.

"I, what? There's no way y'all," she whispered to the table of Paige, Ice, Carol, and Jana. Paige leaned in from KK's right side, trying to figure out what had happened.

Covering the camera slightly, KK, and everyone else, turned around to witness you and Nika's little makeout session ending and the flirty whispers exchanged.

"Unfortunately tonight's live is gonna have to end here girly pops, and if you think you saw something, no you didn't!" KK exclaimed as she quickly turned off the live, the table erupting with laughter at the situation. The whole team had placed bets on how long it would take you and Nika to fumble, and half of them had just lost a hundred dollars at your shennagains.

The walk back to Nika's apartment was brief, filled with flirty touches and short pecks to tide the two of you over until you finally entered home, Nika immediately pushing you up against the front door, moving her lips down your neck and around your collarbones with gentle grazes of her teeth and soothing licks.

"Niks please, stop teasing," you breathed out, grasping Nika's hair tightly from her scalp with your hand, pulling her face up to yours to gaze down at her with a pleading expression.
