Can you trust AI Answers about your health?
During the summer of 2020, when the entire world was focused on the pandemic, getting treatment for other health issues became a challenge.
I started experiencing a lot of back pain, but I shrugged it off as an injury and took Advil to cope.
A week later, I thought I had food poisoning.
I tried an at-home service where they pumped me full of IV fluids.
I went to urgent care. They sent me to get scans. I paid hundreds of dollars out of pocket to get them quickly.
The imaging place never sent the scans to the urgent care.
A day later, I had the worst chills. It was July, in Phoenix. Most likely 100 F. I went outside and was still freezing.
At that point, I was taken to the ER. I ended up in the ICU in one of those rooms they zipped up in plastic.
While most of the focus was on COVID, I had something else: a large kidney stone. The kind that doesn’t pass on its own.
I was in septic shock and acute renal failure according to discharge papers.
The hospital stay itself wasn’t too long, but the treatment with specialists took three months to complete.
Surgeries during COVID were extra special because if you tested positive, your surgery was delayed.
Two years later, in 2022, I ended up in the same hospital for the same reason.
And now, I’m a few days into aggressive antibiotic treatment for my kidneys, yet again. Wondering if I make it to the next followup or have to Lyft off to the ER.
So what does this have to do with Google AI Answers?
In 2020 and 2022, I spent a lot of time perusing Google Search results on kidney stones.
Now, I get AI Answers above at the top of SERPs (search engine results pages).
This wouldn’t be a bad thing if one could trust the AI to accurately summarize its sources.
That’s the big if.
In the first screenshot, you’ll find an AI Answer from Google Search results for the phrase how to pass kidney stone.
The first mistake involved an error with paraphrasing a source with legitimate information.
Because I can assure you after four years of seeing urology specialists, no one has ever suggested drinking two quarts or liters of urine.
The basil leaves suggestion, on the other hand, is suspect. I’ve never come across that as a suggestion. It would have stood out, because I have a lot of basil growing around the garden.
I don’t even remember that website from my previous Google searches. I had to check Wikipedia and other sources to find out what the company even was.
Much like the search quality raters and AI Answer checkers do...
In the second screenshot, Microsoft Bing with Copilot offered ads for supplements and advice from five sources, two of which are the MSN Health Hub.
The hub includes a section where you can Ask a health professional questions.
In the third screenshot, ChatGPT using GPT-4 with browsing offered a concise response based on its training data, but claimed not to have access to external sources.
In the fourth screenshot, Perplexity provided the best AI Answer with 19 sources I recognized from my previous research into this health issue.
Moral of the story:
You can’t trust generative AI with your money or your life issues.
But if you do, start with the right AI Answer engine. One that cites sources you trust and doesn’t suggest drinking your own pee.
Think of Perplexity as a better starting point for more in-depth research that you can discuss during your next doctor’s visit.

5/27 candy round-up : fan-meet clues, denying drama rumors and everything else. 💋
happy saturday! it’s time for some treats care of mostly wyb @ chunzhen fan meet. it has really been some time since he did one of these. hopefully, he does more before he gets stuck in filming his new movie. we will be getting a new endorsement from him tomo so that’s one to look forward to!

• The most obvious and probably in your face with today’s event is WYB’s look. Aside from the 🦴 necklace chain peeking from time to time and how his hair brings us back to 2019 WYB. The clothes remind us of that striped top he wore in the l’oreal event where he drew the heart with a mole. It’s also maison kitsune, a brand that ZZ wore in a live event recently too. The glasses for his photoshoot also brings us back to WB night 2020. These things could all mean nothing but to us, it brings back memories. The glasses are particularly sus, cause while i do think it may have something to do with his HK glasses endorsement, i don’t see it on their site as a style he is endorsing currently. It surprised a lot ( if not all ) of the fans cause why is he suddenly 🤓??

2. The Camping CPN is at it again. I don’t usually follow other artists so idk if other mention this too specifically but it’s so interesting how these two decided to pick it up at the same time. Or is this some sort of trend in China too? Either way, during the fan meet he said that he does Camp during his breaks. Plus he mentioned that he did go camping somewhere close to the beach.
He also said something that confused people, when they were talking about “moving camping” and wyb explained it’s like moving your house to the camp because of how one brings a lot of things. the he says: “it means he likes to moves many things...a lot of things...then..” so who is he? why so specific as he? Do you camp with someone who brings a lot of things it’s as good as bringing his house along? I don’t wanna judge XZ lol. cause when we see him, he prefers small bags so you would think he’s okay with not carrying too much. but i also have the feeling that ZZ would bring a lot just to be “ready” when they go camping.
3. When choosing the number for the lucky fans, he picked zone A row 2 number 30 and then when he was asked to change it cause there is no #30, he picked row 3 number 20. 2 & 3. His favorite numbers. This is not new, even @ summer surf shop this was noticed. It’s nice to see that it didn’t change. 23 ( Ai Zhan / Love Zhan )
4. As for some food CPN, WYB said again that he can’t cook and that he can only prepare simple dishes. One day, we will know what these are. I’m thinking he’s being humble about it and if he says he “can cook” people may expect more complicated dishes.
When “spiced beef ( or sauced beef ) was mentioned, he smiled. here is the reference to that if you don’t get it.

In one segment of the show, he was mixing fruits with the yogurt drink and he was asked why he chose lychee. He said it’s because he likes it and likes to freeze it to eat. This reminded cpfs of an LRLG post that said WYB peeled lychees for XZ. It’s so specific of a fruit and then it gets “confirmed” like this!
Xiao laoshi thinks the lychees are too high in calories and doesn’t eat them, but Wang laoshi has already peeled them.
WYB: "Didn't you say you wanted to eat it a few days ago?" Brother X specially went to buy it for you."
🧔‍♂️: “The owner of the stall said that this batch is sweet, try it."
XZ: “Then I'll take it later”
WYB: “Eat later”
• WYB shared about what does when camping and he said what he does is drink coffee. “yes, space out, finish the coffee, and then make another cup, then drink again.”
someone please get him a coffee endorsement! hahahahaha! and the commercial for it will be a scene like this. i really feel for him cause with the statement today from yuehua, this is really a way for him to relax. to camp somewhere quiet and just chill. where no one is following & harassing him.
anyway, it’s cool to see him loving coffee now when in the past he wasn’t seen much drinking it. but at the time of cql filming, xz was the one who loved coffee. is this another way of them adapting each other’s likes?

• While talking about Qingdao ( where the fan meet is taking place ) he was asked if he went there before.. and he stopped and replied, they know better than me. and like he doesn’t even know sometimes what city he is flying to. CPN is that he didn’t want to say when he last went to QD. that’s because there were some talks before that he visited the ADLAD cast ( XZ ) in QD. 🤫
but this could also be him calling out the sisheng fans who “knows” his itinerary and private schedule. 💀💀💀💀💀
There is a new fake story about XZ collecting blind box figures and he complained to WLS that he cannot seem to complete the set he wants. So WLS helped him get it all. This is the set he allegedly wanted :

The second part of this is Patrick ( XZ counterfeiting account ) refuting the rumors of a drama collab between XZ & Y@ngzi. Whether the account is purely a fan account with contact to XZS or WJJW. An XZS employee or a WJJW employee, the sus part here is how quickly this rumor was denied in XZ’s part. There are so many drama and movie melons coming out and putting XZ’s name on it and they don’t address it. If they do, it’s not as quick as this. 30 minutes from when that melon account rumor started getting traction.

This “speed” of denial is not new, some artists / fan accounts do this too ( like ZLY fan when she was rumored to star in mermaid came out lol ) but it’s uncharacteristic for XZ.
There is also a ! on it, this is the only one with that since the account started posting in 5/2020 where that was used. it’s added for emphasis looks like. you can check the account to see for yourself.

I’m not saying he hates his former co-star. I’d like to think they have a professional relationship as what one would expect with a former co-worker and people who go around the same entertainment circle. But one thing is for sure, he doesn’t want to be associated with her in this capacity. A project using his popularity to get attention when he is already signed on with Condor Heroes. And the last time they went on HS together was about using the same car which last night — y@ngzi was on HS again because that same car was also used by Li Xian ( also a former co-star she is romantically linked with ) proving that the issue was so ridiculous! but somehow, some glass hearted cpfs had doubts. lol. please.
i don’t like talking about our boys and other cps associated to them but his connection with this woman seems to make a lot of cpfs nervous. which i don’t understand. 😂😂😂😂 so i hope those people get some sort of “comfort” with this.

Let's talk about the 2025 Grammy Nominations:
You've seen the headlines, and by now I'm sure you're across the nominations list (if you aren't, spoiler – it's a HUGE year for female-led pop), so now it's time to deep dive into the key awards. What do we think? Who was snubbed? And who will be taking home a gold-plated gramophone in February?
Before we get into the finer details of it all, there are some key highlights from the 2025 nominations announcement.
Could 2025 be the year women take over the Grammys?
In short, it certainly looks like it. Of the ten artists nominated across album and record of the year, six of them are women – but last year there were seven, so this trend isn't exactly a new one. But it is only women who are nominated for both.
Looking at the 2025 nominations list, what stands out most is the dominance all of these artists have had across the last 12 months – you can't even begin to have a conversation about music in 2024 and not talk about the astronomical rise of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter making pop music fun again, Charli XCX's Brat movement, Taylor Swift's surprise double album drop, Beyoncé's take on country music, or Billie Eilish's ambitiously tender third record. In fact, all I needed to do was mention their names, and I'm sure you're already in a highlights reel.
While Beyoncé will have some tough competition come Grammys night, she is leading the way in the nominations list – and rightly so. As far as nomination numbers go, she is wearing this year's crown, racking up 11 nominations for her eighth studio album Cowboy Carter and its singles. That is also a personal best for her, one-upping the 10 nods she received back in 2009.
But she isn't the only powerhouse female artist leading the 2025 Grammys charge, she is just one of five fan favourites nominated across ALL THREE top general categories – that is record, song, and album of the year. Joining Beyoncé in the battle for 2025's biggest awards are Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift. Not far behind is Charli XCX who features in two of the three majors, and has scooped a STACK of very well deserved nods across the list.

It is the year of big female voices, and we are HERE for it.
Adding to nominations in all three top general categories, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are also big contenders for Best New Artist – and if either of them were to make a clean sweep and nab all four awards they'd be the first to accomplish the feat since Billie Eilish did it in 2020 for her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (however, it hadn't been done before that since Christopher Cross all the way back in 1981).
We also LOVE to see Raye and Doechii up for Best New Artist.

What is the 2025 Grammy tea?
The sheer chart dominance of Sabrina, Chappell, Taylor, Charli, Billie, and Beyonce made predicting their nominations sweeps pretty easy – however it is some of the remaining nominations in these key categories that have left us scratching our heads.
I am yet to find a music fan or critic who would have even had Andre 3000’s instrumental flute album New Blue Sun as a dark horse pick for a general Grammys category, so seeing it nominated for Album of the Year has definitely raised some eyebrows, and while the Grammys love including a veteran in their nominations list, in a year so chock-full of incredible releases, seeing The Beatles' AI-enhanced "Now And Then" land a Record of the Year nod was still a surprise.
This might be a hot take, but we are quite surprised to see Taylor Swift's "Fortnite" feature so prominently – of course, Tortured Poets Department deserves its nod (and I don't think we'll see many Taylor release years that don't find her name amongst Grammy nominees) but "Fortnite" is arguably one of the weaker singles from the album.
We've discussed front runners and surprise nods, but what about those that missed out? Who are the biggest 2025 Grammy snubs. Much like Shaboozey's “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” seemed to be an inescapable force this year, earning a stack of nominations including Song of the Year, it is hard to believe that Hozier's "Too Sweet" missed the list entirely.

Benson Boone was surely in many Grammy predictions lists, across a number of categories, so it is interesting that his only nomination is in the Best New Artist category. It has been a huge year for pop releases, so it can be argued why his smash hit “Beautiful Things” missed Record and Song of the Year, but we had it ear-marked for Best Pop Solo Performance. Though, looking at the category as it stands, it's hard to argue who you might swap out.
An interesting snub a little deeper into the nominations list – it is interesting to note that while Taylor's "Fortnite" could pick up Record and Song of the Year, it did miss out on a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance – instead Taylor finds herself nominated as the featured artist on Gracie Abrams' "Us".
In such a fierce year of pop releases, there were bound to be some releases that in a lesser year would have been shoe-ins for nominations but in 2025 didn't make the cut. This year, that spot goes to Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism who –following Future Nostalgia's Best Pop Vocal Album win back in 2021 – didn't receive a single nom. The same can be said for Ariana Grande, who did score three nominations this year, but doesn't find herself in any of the major categories.

Add to the list artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Tinashe, and Tyla – while we wouldn't be arguing for a major category, it is surprising to see in a year where we are celebrating pop music's female force, all of these female artists were overlooked in their respective genre round ups.
We also continue to see Latin music grow on a global scale – but especially in the US, where it is the fastest growing streaming genre – so why then do we see no representation in any of the major categories? The same can be said for K-Pop, which has made it's way to the forefront of music conversations but still cannot manage to crack mainstream acknowledgement. Interestingly Recording Academy CEO and President Harvey Mason Jr acknowledged to AP News this very point, saying, "I definitely see room for improvement across many genres...Without the right representation we don’t get the right results. When I say right, I mean reflective and representative of what’s happening in music today. So, the work continues.”
How do the Grammy nominations even work?
Have you ever wondered how the Grammy awards end up with their nominations list? How they whittle down 12 months of huge hits into a neatly package selection of those deemed "the best"?
The Grammys are somewhat open about their process, boasting that they are the only music award that is determined by creators themselves – as they describe it "the peers of those being judged".
It's the performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, instrumentalists, and other creatives working in industry are also the ones voting. In that sense, they refer to themselves as a selection of music awards for the artists and creatives, by the artists and creatives.
It all sounds very democratic.

To be eligible for the 2025 Grammy awards, a recording had to be released between September 16 2023 and August 30 2024 – that is why Chappell Roan's somewhat sleeper The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess – released September 22 2023 – was just able to sneak in and take advantage of it's somewhat delayed success story and be nominated alongside record's released nine or 10 months later.
Artist teams then have to get strategic and submit the albums and singles they want to be considered for each category – for example, Sabrina Carpenter's team put “Espresso” forward for Record of the Year and “Please, Please, Please” for Song of the Year, while Taylor Swift's team stuck with "Fortnite" for both, forgoing the likes of "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart".
They suggest that typically they receive around 20,000 different entries every single year – that's a lot of music to squeeze into 94 categories across 12 fields, with just five or eight picks each.
What are our 2025 Grammy predictions?
Is 2025 finally the year Beyoncé takes home either album or record of the year? Although she has won a record number of Grammys, and been AOTY-nominated for her last four solo releases, the top two awards have continuously eluded her. 2025 might be one of the most closely competitive years for both categories – with each of the artists we've already mentioned making up such a solid part of this year's musical and cultural zeitgeist.
It truly is hard to predict, based on merit alone, who might take out the top categories. So purely on hope and vibes, these are our predictions:
Record of the Year
This is a spicy spicy category. I would LOVE to see it go to Chappell or Charli to acknowledge the sheer impact they have had across the last 12 months, it would also be HUGE if Kendrick's "Not Like Us" got the gong, but it's more likely that Grammy darlings Taylor or The Beatles will scoop this one.
Album of the Year
I wouldn't be made if any of the aforementioned powerhouses took this one – Charli, Chappell, Billie, Taylor, Beyoncé, and Sabrina would all be wholly deserving winners. Our bias is peeking out here again, because we want a Brat or Midwest Princess AOTY score. In all likelihood though, it's hard to see the Academy not giving this one to Taylor – and as a fan of her catalogue (yes, we were there at the Eras Tour singing and dancing along) we really don't think TTPD as a whole collection of music is anywhere near her strongest output.

Song of the Year
Before we dive into our predictions, now is a good time to explain the difference between Record of the year and Song of the year. Song of the Year recognises the craft of writing the song and lyrics (so it goes to the songwriters) whereas Record of the Year celebrates the overall production and performance of the song and is about the final recording you hear (so it goes to the artist, producer, and engineers) – basically Song of the Year = Best written song, Record of the Year = Best recorded song.
"Please Please Please", "Good Luck Babe", and "Not Like Us" would all be huge winners, but given the sheer commercial success of Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" it's hard to look past it.

Best New Artist
This has shaped up to be one of our favourite categories, the sheer talent across the board is a really great summary of the artists who managed to breakthrough in the last 12 months. Best New Artist is surely Chappell Roan's to lose, it is hard to look past the stellar year she has had, but we'd also love to see the likes of Raye or Doechii take this one out.

What are FIGO's Grammy 2025 picks?
We are guitar music fans at heart, so we're scrolling straight to the Rock, Metal & Alternative Music field to share our opinions.
Best Rock Performance
Looking across 2025, it is really hard to believe that some of these releases are the best rock music had to offer up. "Broken Man" is a great cut from St Vincent's album and we'd love to see IDLES nab themselves this Grammy, but we're almost certain it'll be a The Beatles win. Our pick though is "Gift Horse" — IDLES OR "Broken Man" — St. Vincent.
Best Metal Performance
We love Spiritbox and "Cellar Door" got a lot of rotation in the FIGO office speakers, so we wouldn't be made about them getting the win. But truly, this has to be a Knocked Loose and Poppy Grammy score – we could talk for months about the impact Knocked Loose have had in terms of bringing hardcore music to the fore, and a Grammy win is absolutely deserved to acknowledge that. A win for KL here would be absolutely incredible for the scene.

Best Rock Song
Same as Best Rock Performance, our pick is "Gift Horse" — IDLES OR "Broken Man" — St. Vincent. Maybe they can knab one each and make us equally happy.
Best Rock Album
It's got to be Fontaines D.C. We won't argue that Romance is our favourite pick of their catalogue, but in terms of boundary pushing, artistic evolution, how unsettlingly spunky it is – and how it stacks up against the rest of the category – this is the album we are gunning for.
Best Alternative Music Performance
While we might have just said that Fontaines D.C.'s Romance isn't our favourite FDC album, "Starburster" is one of our track's of the year so it would be very very cool to see it nab the gramophone here. But we'd also love to see a woman take out these usually very male-dominated categories so if Kim Gordon or St Vincent scored a win, we wouldn't be mad either.

Best Alternative Music Album
Clairo's Charm is a truly beautiful collection of music – sure, it leans solidly more pop-sounding than any of the other record's in this category but this is where it has landed. Though, as mentioned before, Kim Gordon and St Vincent are also solid options.

The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the Los Angeles Arena.

Charli xcx fans rejoice: ‘Brat’ chosen as Collins word of the year
A new definition of the word was sparked by the pop star’s summer album title, and made it a term that ‘resonated with people globally’, the dictionary says
Most have us have long moved on from “brat summer”, when, sparked by Charli xcx’s album of the same name, wearing slime green and embracing your inner messiness was on trend. But the lexicographers at Collins dictionary are still firmly in their brat era, naming it their 2024 word of the year.
Though Collins already defined “brat” as “someone, especially a child”, who “behaves badly or annoys you”, it has been selected as word of the year because of its new definition: “characterised by a confident, independent, and hedonistic attitude”.
“‘Brat’ has become one of the most talked about words of 2024,” Collins said. It “resonated with people globally and ‘brat summer’ established itself as an aesthetic and a way of life”.
Brat tops a list of 10 words chosen by the dictionary publisher which represent 2024. Another pop star-inspired word made the list, “era”, inspired by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. “Supermajority” was the only word that reflected the year’s high number of elections – it apparently saw a sharp increase in usage around the time of the UK general election in July.
As is often the case when it comes to words of the year, expressions popularised by social media featured heavily on the list. “Yapping” – ie talking too much – has become a popular term on TikTok, as has “looksmaxxing”, defined by Collins as “attempting to maximise the attractiveness of one’s physical appearance”.
“Delulu”, slang for deluded, is another word known for its social media usage, along with “rawdogging”, which originally emerged as slang for sex without a condom, but is now more widely used as a term for doing something – most commonly taking a flight or train journey – without entertainment or assistance. Meanwhile “brainrot”, “an inability to think clearly caused by excessive consumption of low-quality online content”, has also made the top 10.
Completing the list are “anti-tourism” – the opposition of large-scale tourism – and “romantasy”, a steamy subgenre of fantasy that has become hugely popular in recent years via authors such as Sarah J Maas and Rebecca Yarros.
Alex Beecroft, managing director of Collins, said that “while ‘supermajority’ does the heavy lifting in a year of political upheaval in the UK and around the world, the big disruptors in language have come from different sources. With many of this year’s notable words being popularised by generations Z and Alpha, we can confidently say this is the most ‘brat’ word of the year list ever!”
Collins dictionary monitors its 20bn-word database along with a range of media sources to create an annual list that aims to “reflect our ever-evolving language and the preoccupations of those who use it”. The words on the list tend to be a mixture of completely new words and existing terms that have been particularly notable that year – “lockdown” was the word of the year in 2020, for example – or ones that have developed additional meanings, such as brat. Last year’s word of the year was AI.

Now, it feels like the future of digital marketing is here. And it’s interesting to see which trends are developed and how they keep evolving. Building a fully immersive experience for brands will be a key area of growth for marketers over the next few years. In the next twenty years, digital technology will continue to evolve. The digital generation that grew up with computers, smartphones and the internet is now mature and in their prime earning years. Chatbots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are redefining the way businesses engage with customers. Hyunjung joined Cheil Worldwide in 2006 and became a Creative Director in 2014. She has dedicated her career to forging meaningful connections between consumers and brands by pioneering innovative strategies at the intersection of technology, culture, and human experience. Q. What strengths and weaknesses did you observe in junior creatives during the New Stars judging process?
A. The courage of junior creatives is their greatest strength. Through the judging process, I encountered fresh ideas born from their exceptional imagination and their impressive ability to adapt to new technologies and trends quickly. Their experiments with AI technology and character design particularly stood out.
However, some ideas lacked grounding or deviated from the brief, which lessened their impact. Courage and originality are vital, but their true value lies in feasibility—the ability to bring those ideas to life effectively and meaningfully.
Q. NEW STARS have a little experience under their belt. What did you find during judging were their strengths and their shortcomings?
A. The greatest strength of young creators lies in their courage. This time, I discovered fresh ideas born from their incredible imagination. Additionally, their ability to quickly absorb new technologies and trends led to notable experiments with AI technology and characters.
However, ideas that overlooked reality and strayed from the brief did not resonate well. Bravery and originality shine only when they are grounded in feasibility.
Q. Has your NEW STARS judge experience changed your view of the junior creatives under your guidance at Cheil? 
A. At Cheil, we hold junior creators to high standards and deeply respect their capabilities.

Q. What do you feel are the biggest challenges to getting great creative work through to launch?

Each person may have a different idea of what a great work is, but my standard is ‘How much of a positive influence has it had on the world?’ A completely new idea that did not exist before can completely change our lives, but sometimes a basic idea can become powerful when it meets timely execution and excellent completion. I believe that making optimal choices in every step of the process, from the beginning of the idea with the creators' one-line memo to every minute and every second that consumers experience in any form, comes together to create a great work. In the process I just mentioned, the compromises that creators make that test their concentration and patience can be said to be difficulties that impede the sophistication of creativity.
Q. MAD STARS is your “home” award and festival. What do you think is its importance on the global awards stage?
A. Modern society is intricately interconnected across geographical borders, with real-time sharing of countless aspects of life. We've identified common challenges plaguing us and discovered services that can enhance our lives. In many areas, we've even reached a consensus. Hence, I believe that any solution addressing universal human issues, transcending cultural and regional boundaries, possesses the fundamental qualifications to shine at a global awards ceremony. Nonetheless, as the adage goes, ‘God is in the details’. A thorough and nuanced approach that respects the uniqueness and diversity of every culture, ethnicity, and locality will undoubtedly garner more attention.
