Trolls Used Her Face to Make Fake Porn. There Was Nothing She Could Do.
Sabrina Javellana was a rising star in local politics — until deepfakes derailed her life.

Most mornings, before walking into City Hall in Hallandale Beach, Fla., a small city north of Miami, Sabrina Javellana would sit in the parking lot and monitor her Twitter and Instagram accounts. After winning a seat on the Hallandale Beach city commission in 2018, at age 21, she became one of the youngest elected officials in Florida’s history. Her progressive political positions had sometimes earned her enemies: After proposing a name change for a state thoroughfare called Dixie Highway in late 2019, she regularly received vitriolic and violent threats on social media; her condemnation of police brutality and calls for criminal-justice reform prompted aggressive rhetoric from members of local law enforcement. Disturbing messages were nothing new to her.
The morning of Feb. 5, 2021, though, she noticed an unusual one. “Hi, just wanted to let you know that somebody is sharing pictures of you online and discussing you in quite a grotesque manner,” it began. “He claims that he’s one of your ‘guy friends.’”
Javellana froze. Who could have sent this message? She asked for evidence, and the sender responded with pixelated screenshots of a forum thread that included photos of her. There were comments that mentioned her political career. Had her work drawn these people’s ire? Eventually, with a friend’s help, she found a set of archived pages from the notorious forum site 4chan. Most of the images were pulled from her social media and annotated with obscene, misogynistic remarks: “not thicc enough”; “I would breed her”; “no sane person would date such a stupid creature.” But one image further down the thread stopped her short. She was standing in front of a full-length mirror with her head tilted to the side, smiling playfully. She had posted an almost identical selfie, in which she wore a brown crew-neck top and matching skirt, to her Instagram account back in 2015. “It was the exact same picture,” Javellana said of the doctored image. “But I wasn’t wearing any clothes.”
There were several more. These were deepfakes: A.I.-generated images that manipulate a person’s likeness, fusing it with others to create a false picture or video, sometimes pornographic, in a way that looks authentic. Although fake explicit material has existed for decades thanks to image-editing software, deepfakes stand out for their striking believability. Even Javellana was shaken by their apparent authenticity.
“I didn’t know that this was something that happened to everyday people,” Javellana told me when I visited her earlier this year in Florida. She wondered if anyone else had seen the photos or the abusive comments online. Several of the threads even implied that people on the forum knew her. “I live in Broward County,” one comment read. “She just graduated from FIU.” Other users threatened sexual violence. In the days that followed, Javellana became increasingly fearful and paranoid. She stopped walking alone at night and started triple-checking that her doors and windows were locked before she slept. In an effort to protect her personal life, she made her Instagram private and removed photographs of herself in a bathing suit.
Discovering the images changed how Javellana operated professionally. Attending press events was part of her job, but now she felt anxious every time someone lifted their camera. She worried that public images of her would be turned into pornography, so she covered as much of her body as she could, favoring high-cut blouses and blazers. She knew she wasn’t acting rationally — people could create new deepfakes regardless of how much skin she showed in the real world — but changing her style made her feel a sense of control. If the deepfakes went viral, no one could look at how she dressed and think that she had invited this harassment.

Top 10 movies I love that everyone tells me I should hate
I know we're all entitled to our own opinions. But it doesn't feel like that these days, especially on this hell site and social media in general. The loud majority of critics and fandoms seem entitled to dictate what movies and shows are good or bad. They spend endless posts on telling us exactly why these movies are either the greatest thing in the world or the worst. And God help you if you disagree, because that just proves you aren't a true fan.
Does any of this sound familiar to you? It should. Especially after the the new Avatar The Last Airbender series...
To give you a clear idea of what I mean, here are 10 movies I like that have gotten (unfairly or not) trashed:
1. Every Ghostbusters movie since the original: Seriously. Fine, nothing is as good as the original, but Ghostbusters II wasn't that bad a sequel and the latest sequels are fun, even if they coast on nostalgia. And don't even get me started on what you monsters put everyone that dared to like the 2016 movie through...
2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi: This movie was great, it's the Star Wars fandom that is the worst.
3. The Marvels: One of the best MCU movies in a long time. Cute and charming and with a strong female cast...and you guys let it bomb at the box office for reasons I'm too tired to even talk about. Enjoy getting crappy Captain Carter getting the lion's share of female MCU roles while more deserving heroines like Carol, Monica, and Kamala get sidelined, you jerks!
4. Red Notice: Fine, it was a dumb action movie. But it was MY kind of dumb action movie that I'd happily watch again. And I still want that sequel!
5. Thor: Love and Thunder: I get that people don't like the flanderized Thor, and even I'll admit that there were parts that could've been better. Yet contrary to popular opinion, this was far from the worst MCU movie we've had. A movie can be fun and flawed.
6. Thor: The Dark World: For all the complaining about goofy Thor, you don't seem to like the gritty, serious Thor movies either.
7. The live action Beauty and the Beast: It doesn't matter if the live-action Disney are good or bad. Liking both the originals and remakes doesn't make you any less of a fan!
8. The live-action Aladdin: Ditto.
9. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: I realize this stance might be hypocritical, since I don't want to dictate what movies should/shouldn't like, but come on, it was WAY better than Crystal Skull!
10. Damsel: The reviews for this movie weren't great, and I don't care. I don't make high standards for Netflix movies. A fun feminist fractured fairy is always welcome for me.

I know I'm not exactly the most serious person, but I'm putting that aside for a bit.
Team Fortress 2 is a game infested with bots that ruin the experience for most players, who play on community servers. The hostess of these bots have went out and harassed, doxxed, and SWATed the people who have took a stand against them. And I'm being dead serious that I might be putting a target on my head, but I'd say it's worth it.
The community has actually done a protest once on the day I posted this a couple years ago. There was news coverage, player outrage, and God knows what else. Valve, despite sending a tweet about looking into it, has done nothing against the bots and has added more microtransactions. The TF2 community has a week to prepare for June 3rd, which is the day the protest starts.
Remember that. June 3rd.
I know I'm not a TF2 PC player (I play Orange Box TF2), but this game is still dear to me. Now, DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT go out and harass people. We need for people to know that Valve, a billion dollar corporation, has lost to basement dwelling degenerates.
This isn't going to be another #SaveTF2 (although you still can use the tag). Anyone who is going to post with the tag has to point the problem out or else it could confuse people who check the new tag: #FixTF2.
Now. There's an online petition and site currently up containing more information than I listed here (it's honestly a good read) and YOU too can help by signing. World of Warcraft had made a classic version of the original game because of a quarter of a million signs, all for a classic version of WoW. All that the TF2 community wants is a simple fix for an actively neglected issue that has been going on for over 5 years. The site is the one at the top. I've signed it, and the traffic so far might make it delayed. Here's the basic rundown of what to do.

Step two: fill out the information listed, just the email and name
Step three: confirm this by heading to your email address and hitting the link (the email may take a little bit to come in)

Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough is overruling plans to ban the famous Times Square kiss photo marking the end of World War II from all department health care facilities, a move criticized as political correctness run amok.
The ban was announced internally at VA medical facilities late last month in a memo from RimaAnn Nelson, the Veterans Health Administration’s top operations official. Employees were instructed to “promptly” remove any depictions of the famous photo and replace it with imagery deemed more appropriate.
“The photograph, which depicts a non-consensual act, is inconsistent with the VA’s no-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and assault,” the memo stated.
“To foster a more trauma-informed environment that promotes the psychological safety of our employees and the veterans we serve, photographs depicting the ‘V-J Day in Times Square’ should be removed from all Veterans Health Administration facilities.”
The memo garnered public scrutiny after it was posted online by the X account EndWokeness on Tuesday.
Just hours later, McDonough took to social media to reverse the memo.
“This image is not banned from VA facilities — and we will keep it in VA facilities,” said a post from his official X account. Department officials echoed in a separate statement that “VA will NOT be banning this photo from VA facilities.”
Officials said the memo should not have been sent out and was formally rescinded on Tuesday. They did not provide details of whether senior leaders were consulted on the matter ahead of Nelson’s memo.
The photograph was taken by journalist Alfred Eisenstaedt in New York City on Aug. 14, 1945, as Americans celebrated Japan’s surrender at the end of World War II. Other journalists, including military reporters, also captured the moment.
The shot shows a U.S. sailor grabbing and kissing a woman he did not know amid a joyous, party atmosphere in Times Square. The identities of the individuals in the photo have been disputed over the years.
In her memo, Nelson noted that use of the photo in VA facilities “was initially intended to celebrate and commemorate the end of World War II and the triumphant return of American soldiers. However, perspectives on historical events and their representations evolve.”
Nelson wrote that the non-consensual nature of the kiss and “debates on consent and the appropriateness of celebrating such images” led to the decision. Senior leaders did not provide an explanation for the reversal.
VA officials could not provide details on how many facilities are currently displaying the photo and whether veterans have complained about use of the image.
McDonough has made veterans outreach and inclusion key priorities for the department over the last three years, including rewriting the VA motto with gender-neutral language.

Activists always take it upon themselves to make themselves the center of any issue. If they feel offended, then everyone else must feel offended as well. Even - and usually especially - if the activist feels offended on someone else's behalf.

i am absolutely angry and devastated. if you’ve seen the things i’ve posted on my story recently, you’re probably aware about the genocide happening in Palestine right now.
as of today, november 21st 2023 there are:
- 14 000+ deaths, 5 600+ of those being children
- 33 000+ injured, 75% being children and women
- 6 000+ are still missing under rubble
- let’s not forget the 60+ journalists who are being targeted for spreading the truth in both Palestine and more recently, in southern Lebanon
- at least 5 premature babies out of 39 of them have died either due to the lack of electricity, food, water and medicine as most of the others have
- 21 out of 35 of Gaza’s hospital are completely out of service, which one of their largest hospital, Al-Shifa, was targeted and is now not operational, and they plan to do the same to the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, which is, might i add, an INTERNATIONAL WAR CRIME on top of many other israel has committed
- there are also 7 000+ palestinian prisoners captured by israeli military forces including children, in which the israeli government is deciding whether to execute them, or exchange a release for their own prisoners taken
and that is just the damage in Gaza, not including the destruction in the West Bank:
- which killed 217 people, including 50 children
- injuring more than 2 750 others
these lists only contain the bare minimum of what has happened.
to give you an idea, today, i saw a doctor who was being consoled by others, as he had just performed an amputation on HIS OWN CHILD, which has happened before, but this surgery was done WITHOUT anesthesia, and the child couldn’t survive the pain.
let’s just let that sink in for a minute.
they don’t have the proper medical supplies to provide the care they need because Israel and the United States will not allow a ceasefire. Biden has stated so himself. and Trudeau hasn’t called one either.
they can’t even grieve their dead in peace. they capture all their sorrow, tears, anger, and screams of despair on screen for us to see because no one is listening as their people are slaughtered. whole lineages of families killed, children orphaned, parents carrying their dead child’s body parts in bags, children pleading for us to help them, speaking out IN ENGLISH so we can understand them, that this is what they are going through. please listen to them.
the things you will see on social media are graphic, you might feel sick to your stomach. you should. because this is happening across the world as we speak, and has happened for the past 75 years! and it must stop now. after october 7th, more outrage has emerged from the people, adding pressure on their governments to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
people will try to devalue social media by saying its a “place where people are dumb on camera” but without it, it would NEVER had known what was going on, and i have never been so outraged by what i have seen.
if you don’t know what to do, you can start by not being silent. silence only allows the lies the Zionists are spreading to propagate, and deafens palestinian voices.

WEEK 6: Does "sustainable fashion" really exist?
According to Domingos et al (2022), a fashion label is perceived as "slow/sustainable" when it follows the principles relating to quality-based production, ethical attitudes, and well-made and long-lasting products. However, an ideal story in which both the economic and ethical concerns are prioritized is relatively rare to happen in the fashion industry. Even Uniqlo, a top global brand that is known for its timeless designs, is still not categorized as a slow-fashion company but instead a "sustainable fast-fashion brand" because of its mass production. (Danziger, 2021) So the question is, in which way sustainability is demonstrated in the current fashion landscape?
Firstly, we must look straightforward into the reality that thanks to media in general and social media in particular, slow fashion nowadays has become a movement that every brand is following to make themselves more ethical and favorable in the consumers' eyes. Browsing on H&M, Zara, or Uniqlo's websites, it is observed that they have exclusive sections where they clarify their efforts in maintaining sustainability, with identical terms such as "net-zero impact", "reducing the footprints", "environmental-friendly materials"... However, it seems like their practical outcomes do not align with the missions they set for themselves, based on annual reports and news indicating the great amount of solid waste and CO2 emissions from their factories, how they exploit their labor resources, and how fast can they catch up with the trends and produce collections constantly. (Shedlock and Feldstein, 2023)
Since the "slow" factor still needs a very long time to be clearly visible through the manufacturing process, it is suggested that we should shift the attention to the customers' - our mindsets when purchasing and consuming clothes. You can buy a $4 T-shirt from SHEIN but wear it for 4 years, that is when you practice sustainable fashion, focusing on the clothes' lifespan and number of usages, even though your piece comes from an unsustainable brand.
In 2023, the fashion industry witnessed the rise of "capsule wardrobe" and "quiet luxury". Although these trends did encounter certain unknowledgeable followers, they contributed significantly to educating consumers to prioritize clothes' quality in materials, forms, and seams over logos or trendiness; and to only buy the "hero" pieces that can match well together. On Instagram and TikTok, some popular fashionistas like Tim Dessaint and Daniel Simmons have succeeded in inspiring their communities to repeat outfits, proving that simplicity and efficiency should be the new trend.

We're not your experiments
Explosions sounded from every direction. Debris fell all over the place, screams of agony and dead bodies filled the streets. They had come for their revenge. After years of being isolated from the world they had finally come out with a bang. Where did it all go wrong? What started as a simple experiment turned into this, a complete disaster.
“Rise Brothers and sisters. ” a voice sounded from somewhere behind the smoke as hordes of teenage soldiers ran out of the barrier separating them and the rest of the world, war cries filling the streets. On top of the barriers stood a handsome blonde boy with bright magnificent blue eyes whom the voice belonged to. He seemed to be leading the charge.
“For years these people have isolated us. ” he continued. “They lied to us, feeding us what they thought we needed, so they could easily control us. They took us away from our parents, forcing us to learn how to take care of ourselves at the age of 5. They leave their comfortable lives while we savage , attempting to make it through each day. Dying of one by one. Today we get our revenge.”
“Stop!!!” a voice sounded from the other side of the gaping hole that was the product of the first explosion. The voice belonged to a stunning teenage girl with brown hair and mesmerizing green eyes. All movements seemed to stop, necks snapping towards her direction. “Danny you have to stop this.”
“Evelyn? ” Daniel questioned before sighed in exasperation . “Not this again”
“These people have done nothing to us.” She continued making eye contact with the leader of the charge. “Most of them are oblivious to what is going beyond these walls, they only know what they have been told, in a way they are just like us.”

As stated before, it had all started as an experiment. Genuine human curiosity. What would happen if you took a few undeveloped babies and placed them in an isolated area away from all human beliefs. With no distractions. No TV, No cell phones, no internet and no social media. They would only have research on what human beings had achieved thus far.
They would be moulded into perfect beings. They would know how it is like to struggle. It would require starving them and putting them into uncomfortable positions, controlling their minds making them believe that they were the last of their kind and survival was crucial.
The only problem was it was unethical. The government had put forward the idea and people were quick to shut it down. Protests raged through the streets, petitions filed the internet and the government had no choice but to shut it down. Or at least that what they told the public.
Two months after the project was shut down, walls were built surrounding a specific area that was in the outskirts of the city. People were told to stay away from the area, fed lies and forced to about their day. No one knew what was truly happening from within the barriers.
Hundreds of babies, all around the same age, laid in their cribs, innocent, peaceful and unaware of a watchful gaze and the future they were going to have to endure.
From the ages 0-5 they were groomed, fed and taken care of. At the age of three they began their education on the English language, all late developers were killed. At five they were fully versed in the English language and left on the streets to take care of themselves as that was the stage the would start retaining memory.
They suffered through hardships, each day came with a new challenge, it was survival of the fittest. More then a hundred died of in the streets before the age of 12.
By the age of 12 they had stumbled on the ‘information’ on what lead to their hardships. Every article, every book and every journal sited the same thing. They were the last of their kind and survival was crucial.
At 13 they learned how to wok together, the managed to decipher humans previous research, separating themselves into groups depending on their individual skills.
By the age of 15 a society had been built. Farming and biology were mashed together, through cloning and biotechnical development. This insured that the food demand was met and surpassed. Medical practices were developed beyond expectation, micro technology and the manipulation of cells was put into practice.
Weapons were at a new level of advancement. Technology was somehow even more advance. The society was like a futuristic utopia. Nobody ever went to bed hungry, they was no currency and everything was fair for everyone. They all acted like one gigantic family.
Through all these years the government had not let it slip once. The people within the barrier had remained oblivious to the outside world focusing on their and the future generations survival. That was until the age of 17, when a Droid flew over the wall and was immediately spotted and captured.
“This an out rage!” a voice rang out, the figure slammed their fists on the meeting table .
At 16 it had been decided that the society couldn’t survive so a total of two leaders were selected, one male(Daniel) and one female(Evelyn) . Each leader had three advisors and one secretary . Ten more people were added to the court to insure fairness. The court had an equal number of male and female leaders.
“Calm down Joseph. ” Daniel said pulling tapping the screen causing a holographic image to appear on the table.
“How do you expect me to calm down after finding out my whole was a lie!” he shouted followed murmurs of agreement from the rest of the table.
“How are we suppose to come to a decision on how we proceed from here if u refuse to calm down?” Evelyn asked calmly, with a small kind smile.
Daniel and Evelyn met at the age of 8. They were the first to learn that in order to survive they should work hand in hand. It was one of reasons they had been chosen to become the leaders of their new society, that and the fact that they founded the whole organization.
“She got you there, “ Daniel said smirking as Joseph blushed in embarrassment. “Now let’s get to the matter at hand”
“A few days ago a Droid flew over the barrier.” Daniel stated pulling up a holographic image of the Droid.
“We had some of our man heck into it and what we found is quite interesting.” Evelyn stated as a series of pictures show up on the table. A myriad of live videos showcasing the outside world fill the table. The court gasped in shock at the sight.
“They is more, “ Daniel said as the images disappear and a holographic set of papers shows up in front of everyone in the table. Chaos erupted as they read the documents stating how exactly they had ended up within the barrier. Their own parents had signed them of.
“We need to decide on a course of action,” Evelyn said causing the table to quite down.
“I say we get our revenge,” Daniel said causing a murmur of agreement to go around the table. “After all they have done to us, I think we have a right to be angry.” He growled causing most of the table to yell in agreement.
“No! ” Evelyn shouted eyes wide. “That would make us as bad as they are, it’s unethical. They has to be a better way.”
“It is what needs to be done. “
“Danny we’re talking about hurting a lot of people here, “ she said making the eye contact with him.
“People who have done nothing but hurt us,” he staring right into her eyes. Neither broke eye contact for awhile.
“They are innocent Danny, we can’t do this.”
The board room is completely bewildered, not knowing what to do, this has never happened before, they always agree.
“Let’s vote.” The advisors chorused causing the too to finally snap their gazes away from each other.
As predicted most of the court agreed with Daniel’s plan.
Days were spent preparing for the war, plans were made, weapons were prepared and Evelyn had spent the whole time trying to convince everyone otherwise with little success. On the day of the war she disappeared along with a few appeasers.
Daniel had only sighed deciding to work with the men he had. He loved the girl but sometime he just didn’t understand her sometimes times.
The bombs were wired, the barriers was blown down, the soldiers were out, Daniel had made it to the top of the war and somehow so had Evelyn, on the opposite side, rigged with explosions.

“Evelyn get from there!” Daniel shouted eyes wide.
“Not until you’ve agreed to stop hurting these people,” she said pleadingly, eyes dropping off desperation.

“No.” he whispered somehow finding a way to scale down the wall running towards where her body laid. He couldn’t loose her. “No!!!” he said a bit louder clinging her lifeless body close to him. He loved her. “No. No. No. No. No,” he said frantically tears streaming down his cheeks, he didn’t get to tell her.
“It’s unethical….. They are innocent people…. I won’t get down until you agree to o stop hurting these people.” her words swam through his head as a pair of arms pulled him away from her body.
“C-call of the strike.” he managed to stutter out. “It’s unethical”
