Oh no - he fully planned the trip to the lake to give his son a beautiful death, but it's what MADE him realize he had to kill the doctor. Poor problematic darling ;___;

Oh yes, certainly! But it’s not clear exactly what he was thinking about once they got out there. Obviously he realized he couldn’t do it, but at what point? It’s interesting to think about.
