#too rarepair? maybe but that wont stop me

it's boredom time, so i thought i'd make the rare personal thoughts on fairies write some propaganda for some of my rarepairs, especially the one i named this blog after lol

iridessa/fira (firadessa)

most people think it's self explained, these two are light fairies

however, these two have similar and yet slightly different personalities (to me at least. if you ever say fira and iridessa are basically the same character, or that fira's character traits are too vague from what we have on her its on sight)

fira is a character that is anxious like iridessa, but its implied at same time she is a bubbly character where iridessa is more mellow, fira can also be mellow sure but has a sunnier vibe

its slightly canon that fira over worries, iridessa also does this but her worries are more logical (fira thought the eclipse made the sun disappear, where dessa worries about things that are possible)

ive shipped this since 2021 when making my own blog (this one) but i think them <3 so you will too

rarepair but NOT a crackship because it makes logical sense as a ship, despite the few interactions they have in canon due to the book characters sometimes not being included in the "main canon" sometimes and not some other times. iridessa was also introduced in the books first, wearing a blue and yellow number similar to firas, and fira and iridessa have been written in books coexisting in universes leaning more book or leaning more movie (maybe) so its not exactly a book/movie ship, but it isnt exactly not a book/movie ship

canon to the book "iridessa and the secret of the never mine" (a book that never released in the us and is buried as a pdf so ill make sure to make it more accessible to everyone) that these two wont stop talking to eachother, to the annoyance of others. they start talking in the mine and they are told to stop and they are like "we'll pick this up at dinner" so precious

hc- iridessa is more likely to get angry that fira

half a hc- fairies have different glows, and i think they sometimes get warmth too- i feel like if iridessa is ever cold (she seems like the type to get cold easily despite the temp outside) she would hover near fira

hc- fira is the only one who can take iridessa's anxiousness

attentive to each others energy levels

elegant in their own way, glittering

but also silly, fun, and dorky

sun/moon sun is fira, moon is iridessa (who is ironically afraid of the dark)

they dont realize their dating until someone teases them for being a couple at dinner at the tearoom

attached to the hip, they go everywhere together

romantic & platonic as one thing meshed together (im thinking cute pining sweethearts and best friend bracelet sort of thing cause im alloace and i associate real romance with "sweetheart levels" of a cheesy greeting card- thats real to and lived to me okay), bff and sweetheart goals

they check up on eachother. constantly

sleepovers!

they cuddle in iridessa's bed from the book, its like a swan bed

their bedrooms, google em and look at pics of them side by side and youll get why i love this paring.

in fira's house they dont do any cuddling but giggle and do eachothers hair and stuff

they dont dress up when they are together, just dress casual

but they do play dress up, a little bit

they will face their FEAR-AS. together. of the dark probably.

fira has a firefly companion (canon) dessa loves. and the firefly has a secret language for them <3

before they go out and hang out together they act like old besties "i havent seen you in forever!!"

please look at "fira's perfect tea party" on youtube or an audiobook of fira and the full moon and note the voice they use to her. contrast to raven's delivery of the worried and hesitant iridessa (unrelated but raven plays iridessa really well, and the other movie voice actors deserve more praise in the fandom)

actually feels more of a hear me out than the others. and i will call this a crackship

okay i understand vidia is not the nicest character in the books, so many ships with her besides her and prilla dont really work. and she is a bully but hear me out...

i believe the first time it was that vidia felt sympathy, when they cut off rani's wings. and that she actually has a soft spot for rani, even though she has a superiority complex. vidia was intended to be a "wicked" or bad fairy, so i think her having some faith in others- maybe even a small amount, gives her a lot of complexity. she took pity on rani, even knowing rani could never fly as fast as she did

there is evidence to support her having a soft side and to her getting along with rani, when she snowboards and is greatful for the snow day. the second is in a comic on her with a scavenger hunt, and they actually work together

if they became an actual thing it would be like vidia's getting revenge and "she asked for no poppy seeds" sort of thing

elonid from ok ko + cassunzel from rta.. hear me out utenaanthy from utena its an anime lmao the pity thing (its not in a savior way) im on an utena forum talking about this ship. another is a tiktok for "divorce but good together parings"

vidia- secret relationship or "don't tell anyone about this"

rani- "ily. i'll keep this a secret. everyone already knows but i wont tell you that cause i know you wouldnt be able to take it."

rani doesnt know any fairy swears, vidia knows all of them (the only fairy, learned them from pirates), and doesnt use them around rani

they dont get personal yet know each other emotionally

rani's not her therapist, vidia doesnt have a therapist and will never get one. yet rani soothes vidia's temper, and vidia actually listens to her because her reputation is being sensitive. vidia character arc because of rani. vidia motivated by rani to change.

vidia- "dont use pet names for me!" vidia "i love you my shell" (a real honest petname, because rani's thing is shells and its like her emotional shell came off omg... rani's is "feather"- no my)

vidia- reputation matters, rani- whats a reputation?

listen pridia is the GOAT but i think i need a vidia paring where the other one is just as a loner/introvert as she is...

youd think they are polar opposites and they are! but they are not.

they dont do public displays of affection, for anything. at first it was vidia's reputation but honestly they arent comfortable with that and nobody really gossips or pays attention to their relationship

i said cassunzel earlier but i think its a lot of new dream as well, a lot of "getting to know you" that is precious like in Tangled

rani writing fancy letters, vidias are chicken scratch but still have effort put into them and decoration like hers, and its not like "she tried" she made her edgy masterpiece

gonna hit you with a rarepair what do you think of Iida/Himiko?, granted she is a stain believer which is a extreme turn away for Iida BUT what if Iida sees in her a good like Uraraka did? what if he makes it a goal to be kind to this girl because he can see that nobody has ever been kind to her hurting heart? And at first Himiko isn't crazy about him especially because he tried to kill stain but the more good he does for her the more she finds herself falling into slots with him. He moves a step she stays where shes at, he moves two steps she's a single step until they are something that can be considered friends. She's giving him nicknames she calls him Tenda or Tenten. -honestly i just see her calling him Tenya period- Anywho He's giving her blood like Uraraka did for smol Himiko except we aren't children, it's a huge risk to be giving the enemy resources but her quirk demands so likely if she doesn't get it i'd imagine she'd be sick to her stomach -i don't know if you've read it but there are like 2 cases in my hero where a person refused to use their quirk and it just kinda exploded and they couldn't control it, drinking blood is part of her quirk so using it requires to drink if she doesn't she gets sick- She's taking blood from Iida's arm they keep getting closer, somehow she ends up drinking from his clavicle it's a trust thing, he knows she wont take more then needed. He's lightheaded but alive, he can't tell if it's the blood shes taking or the shine he's taking to her. Himiko sits perfectly in Iida's lap while he's sharing a snack with her but once somebody comes around she's suddenly gone and he's got a half eaten meat bun and a whole one, was somebody just here? His classmates -save for Uraraka cause she's probably all up in his business to know- know something is happening but they don't know what. Himiko wants to spare him because he's beautiful which means she wants to stab but some things in this world are too beautiful that if you stab them you want have them anymore so he's one of the beautiful things she's going to let live, she tells him this one time she comes to visit him. Iida is trying to rehabilitate her poor naive fool lol. I can see her saying this to him coming through his window one day and she says this to him and kisses him or something i don't know leaving him starstruck he can't have a proper day because his thoughts are full of a blond blood sucking girl THE FUNNY PART IS she's older by a year and he's tall but she can play that card and Himiko having Iida wrapped around her finger pulling the "Im older so respect me" is frickin' funny to me and he just might sort of listen because he is a rule follower THEY COULD BE EVERYTHING and they are my everything

had to do a double take ngl, but okay let's see what iida and himiko got going on in your head

okay i have a hard time seeing this romantically BUT platonically i think it could develop into such a beautiful relationship because the kindness and empathy come from such an unexpected person. like toga would be so shocked like why is this person being kind to me? with any ulterior motives? it doesn't make sense

except iida doesn't stop, he keeps trying, keeps doing good and she starts to notice that maybe some people are just like that? good by nature? not out of pity, just genuine.

about the blood thing, i like the theory that if she doesn't have it she would be sick, so i can imagine iida finding her one day almost fainting and after asking if he could help, he just offers her arm to her, it's such a big trust move

but iida's sense of justice is also too big, so i think till they fully develop their relationship a lot would have to be resolved between them

So meeting each other and like, beginnings

so they meet briefly during a hockey thing, mock practice actually setting up rules for the game

Russia had been enamored by the way canada took control of the entire thing but also managed to keep it really peaceful

he was nothing such on the actual ice but whatever, it made russia really curious and he wanted to know so much more, anything he could

the wars happened

they had fought on the same side, but russia almost made the mistake of calling america by canada’s name.

america flipped his lid but the slight recognition made canada visible to russia.

canada isnt really invisible, but he’s very good at hiding and does decide who can and cant see him

russia walked into the room, saw america, and went to talk to him but the closer he got the more he realized that this isnt who he remembers and bluntly says “youre not canada” america is all rude and shit because NO I AM NOT and canada just laughs.

its after all that does canada decide that russia can see him.

russia takes that as any good indicator that they are now friends, and friends tease each other, so sometimes he sits on canada and laments plainly that he has no idea what anyone is talking about that hes ‘sitting on someone’

Canada thinks its cute and honestly really enjoys it? someone is paying attention to him in an actual nice way and he knows russia doesnt mean it bad because he smiles over his shoulder at canada and makes sure he’s not sitting too hard on his lap.

france starts counting down the days till they get together

so they start hanging out a lot more!

canada talks on and on about all the fun hockey things and russia is so eager to learn the new rules and play with/against him again

they love watching it together

they go on a lot of outings to cute out of the way shops, ice cream, coffee, tea, sandwich cafes, any and all of it.

they start learning each other and what they like and trying to see if they can guess what the other will get before they order

one time russia ordered for the both of them and canada got SOOO embarrassed because he did not tell russia his order, but russia managed to get exactly what he was thinking

its the main start to crushes happen on these outings, because its real sweet and it feels nice to just be with someone

they spend most of the time in canada because its nicer majority of the time

canada has visited russia, and loves it, but russia is afraid he wont like it, and therefore wont like him

canada assures him thats not the case, and throws a snowball at his head

russia only likes the snow when there are other people to share in it with him

snow with canada is his favorite

friends and family!

Canada gets along really well with ukraine and belarus

russia was ah deathly scared they wouldnt, but belarus took a shine to canada because hes ah not a fucking idiot

the rumors of belarus being in love with her brother are all disproved, because she doesnt, its so her actual crush doesnt find out. russia plays a willing victim

they talk about knives together, canada and ukraine talk about flowers

russia doesnt have a lot of ‘friends’ but does have people he likes talking to on the occasion, the baltics, the germanic family, they all get along super well

on the other hand with canada

america is an asshole! and judgey! and prideful! and is always challenging russia to stupid shit that russia always competes against him in and canada just watches from the sidelines because stoooop

they get along fine though when they arnt getting under each other’s skin

england is the most wary, still kinda stuck that canada cant take care of themselves and russia is evil incarnate, but its actually america who says canada can take care of himself and probably put russia in a choke hold faster than any of them

then of course they time it and figure out yeah, thats true

france is chill, content to watch from the side and canada and russia somewhat flirt with each other without no one else noticing.

Kuma is actually the most important to canada when it comes to people he spends time with, so when kuma just, straight up without a care crawled into russia’s lap demanding pets, canada knew this is someone he could keep around

exchanging human names happened very soon after

canada’s friends, namely cuba, south italy, and netherlands, are very concerned? but also really enjoy the way russia straight up punched america in the face once so like, they cool

WHO WANTS ROMANCE

so uhm, russia can not keep his hands off at all ever

constantly holding canada’s hand, waist, shoulder, arm, hugging, playing with his hair, laying on him, any and all kinds of physical affection he do

canada enjoys it, and when he needs russia to stop, he just gives him a designated area to hold so its not too much for him

canada gives the most kisses because russia is real embarrassed by that kind of affection

they are sweet and slow with each other more often than not, its nicer for them

hot chocolate and thirteen blankets kinda cuddling

russia gets jealous a lot, but hes working on it, canada is usually able to talk him out of it somehow, and confirm that no one else holds his affections

they were originally very shy to admit their feelings for each other, not wanting to freak out or drive the other away

that didn’t happen and their relationship just grew so naturally

895,278 oh man, I was soooooooo close to 1mil, but I just removed a whole fandom’s content this month and knocked myself back to this =(

How often do you write?

As often as I can, when my fibromyalgia (fog and fatigue is a bitch when trying to write) doesn’t get in the way. It’s a great distraction from my pain/other symptoms/general bad moods. It’s pretty much the only hobby I have now that doesn’t directly cause me more pain if I do a lot of it =)

If I’m in a good space, I can write every day, if I’m in a bad space yikes XD I’m lucky to write once a week.

And if I’m in a bad health space + an influx of shitty comments, I only manage to write like a couple of days out of every few months =(

Do you have a routine for writing?

Not really, if it’s a wip, I just back-read like, 2 pages or so? to get into the flow/character mindset and then I just keep going past where I stopped last time. If it’s been a few months, I might read the entirety of the wip before continuing. 

If I don’t know what I feel like writing, I just open a blank doc and start writing and see where it goes. That’s often how I end up writing new ships/fandoms rather unexpectedly XD 

If I’m really stuck and brain-blanking, I go looking for a line prompt to get me started, usually just the act of typing out the line prompt sets me off and I can just keep writing =)

I like listening to lyric-free music to help me focus =)

What’s your favourite kinks/tropes/pairing?

-Tropes? Hmmmmmmm I’m pretty open to most things but I think my fav trope is soulmate aus, I’m forever writing them, but I never post them because I did post a 50k drarry soulmate au once, it was like my 2nd or 3rd fic (I know I was posting it alongside Restraint back on ffnet before I had AO3 but I can’t remember which was first XD) and the comments were so awful I don’t think I’ll get up the guts to post one again for the hp fandom. Or at least, not for that pairing XD but I still find myself writing them often just for myself, and I tend to stalk the tag on AO3 for certain fandoms that always have really good ones =)

Other fav tropes: bedsharing, room-sharing, fake dating, telepathic bonds, other forms of bonding, sensation sharing

Fuck, I never write my favourite tropes, do I? XD learnt my lesson from the soulmate au I guess, getting something you love torn to shreds is fucking traumatising XD

Oooh wait, is angst a trope? cos I love that and write that a lot XD

Oh, and enemies to lovers! duh XD I forget that’s a trope.

-Kinks? hmmmmmm

I don’t really think in terms of kinks, which makes tagging a nightmare, I guess I like a little d/s but I don’t like the way most of it is written, same for dirty talk but often the language used in fics squicks me out. OH OH Exhibitionism/Voyeurism XD how did I almost forget that, one of my fav fav favs!

Hmmm I know I have more, I’m constantly writing them without realising and then losing my shit all over the place mid-scene XD

I don’t really enjoy reading smutty kinky fics unless they’re my own though, because even good tagging doesn’t rule out coming across something that squicks you and I know all my own fics are free from my squicks =) (or at least they’re written in a way that is tolerable for me XD)

-Pairing? hmmmm well Drarry is a forever fav pairing, Merthur and Spirk would be my other ultimate favs. Sheith is joining those ranks too actually.

But I’m pretty much open to all ships, and I love my rarepairs =)

Do you have a favourite fic of yours?

This changes a lot depending on my mood and the state of comments on the fics (pathetic, but true). Right now it’s my HD consent fest fic ‘In the Ways that Matter’ not only because I’ve been carrying ace!Harry ideas around for years and working on fics but being too scared to post them, but also because I’m figuring out my own place on the ace spec lately so yeah, it really means a lot to me. Doing that fest kind of gave me the push I needed to finally put one of my ace!harry headcanons out there. And it was received really well, so that certainly helps =)

Anything you don’t like about your writing?

I suck at plot, I have so many great plotty ideas tucked away, but I can’t plan and stick to a plan and when I try I can’t write at all, since I usually write each next scene as what feels like the most natural progression from the last and plans don’t always continue to work out sooooo yeah. I tend to only write relationship fics because they suit my ‘start writing and don’t stop and think until you’re done’ style. They’re fast and easy XD

I also have a pretty limited set of vocab and I’m constantly annoyed at myself for reusing the same words and phrases. I make notes all time about words I’d like to insert into fics...but then I forget about those notes almost immediately XD

Background description is non-existent. I focus on the characters and how they feel to the exclusion of the world around them. I try and work on it, and then get distracted again *sigh* one day I’ll get better at describing surroundings. People too actually, I never really describe them either. I think part of it is my shitty visualisation skills, I can’t visualise the room they are in? or them? so I can’t describe it? I dunno, I suck at this but try my best anyway when I remember.

The passage of time is also non-existent, fuck I’m so bad at noting the passage of time. At some point I got lazy with scene changes and stopped doing lead-ins for new scenes and it’s stuck and now I always do abrupt scene changes without time reference, and even I get fucking confused about the timelines of my own fics XD

Endings. I suck at endings. Or probably more of a case of what I like as an ending is constantly getting me into shit with my readers. I need to work on writing endings that will satisfy the majority of readers. Whatever, anyone following me knows my issues with this, no need to elaborate.

Anyway, I’m forever working on all this, so maybe one day I’ll improve =)

Now something you do like?

Emotional focus and intensity (since I can’t visualise worth a damn and tend to just skim those kinds of descriptions when I read, I don’t care what room they’re in or what it looks like, I care about what they are doing and feeling in that room? Which really explains why my own written descriptions suck XD). 

I like the bickering and bantering in my fics, it’s basically how I am with my friends so I love writing it and reading it =)

ANGSSSSSSSSSSST all the sweet sweet angst.

Open endings, when I’m able to detach from all the shit I get for them. I like reading and thinking about my own fics and being able to pick different future outcomes depending on my mood of the day. I have a very love-hate relationship with the endings of my fics XD

Aaaaand, I’m out of the loop on this account so I have no idea who has and hasn’t done this, so I wont tag anyone, but by all means, anyone who wants to do it go right ahead =)

full disclosure: it took me about two minutes later than everyone else to board this train because I clearly have too many rarepairs and frauke is a sneaky sneak.

But holy cow, let’s talk about them because they’re lovely and in tune and the newest jaeger pilots to come to bayern (and possibly inevitably err doomed but we wont talk about that)

I’m still coming around to using Basti for Sebastian because I’m old and my heart still twists weirdly when I think there’s someone named Basti on Bayern. It’s still a tender wound, anon so forgive me if I keep switching it around on you.

Niklas, a strong beef baby. Rudy, talented, upgraded haircut, will fight when upset.

Can we just fucking flail for a moment because I need a respite from the deep corner of my mind that goes spelunking when I get too dramatic about footballers.

Whew okay. These two crazy kids have been on my radar since they appeared on the NT and like intellectually I understood Hoffenheim was churning out the surprise talent (thanks Nagelsmann) by the bucketload but sentimentally once they were ours I knew I had to pay more attention.

They fucking followed each other to another team like the fuck is this casual devotion that slap you in the face. They’re part of the “new generation” that delights and baffles me by turns because they seriously do not give a fuck about what you think. Like I guess its the times but man, I absolutely love the brash FEELING we get out of these boys.

Anyway. Enough rambling.

Rudy is totally the dude that will give you the stinkeye for judging his friend (and man I love the concept of terrible at feelings yet simultaneously not-dating to the point everyone thinks theyre together südy) because Niklas? A little oblivious. Because he’s too wrapped up in if Seb is okay not because he’s dumb. He’s just quiet okay.

Sebastian Rudy, #1 member of The Niklas Süle fanclub and fiercely adament of he’s not just a dumb jock with arms that could crush you.

I’m definitely still feeling out the dynamic but there’s so much love here!!! That I will take anything and everything until my tastes refine and I become a snob as with everything in life.

I think there’s an immense amount of determination in Rudy. It’s a little like how I picture a young Becks (someone pls stop me) except Sebastian isn’t actually that young and I’m very much into his awareness of that. Hell, I may have a case for him being not quite as modest as we like to think, maybe just maybe he could have something up his sleeve. I definitely think he’s got some good instincts but with Niklas he turns into a fuzzy content mess and well, taking the world by storm isnt fun by yourself, and you certainly need someone by your side to celebrate right?

They are very like soft with each other and half the time, they don’t realize how different that is, how special it is to be vulnerable like that with someone else, to scream it out in front of thousands with just a hug or a hand. It’s absolutely breathtaking.

It’s also dangerous. It’s a risk with reward and again, you have to weigh it all to see if it’s worth it.

You see, Niklas will always choose Rudy. Always. No ands or ifs about it. And Basti is probably aware of the power that lends him and that’s what keeps him humble, loyal and fierce. It also keeps him just a tad suspicious of anyone around Niklas because he has such a giving heart.

And he has to grapple with that because it’s not like him to be jealous or weird about someone’s affection or time. It’s just different with Niklas.

Niklas probably has the opposite problem. Like he went 0 to 60 i would lay my life down for this guy pls and thanks and suddenly sort of depends on Seb to lead him in the right direction but like is also trying not to depend too much. It’s really confusing and he would much rather stay in silence with Boa than have to talk about his feelings.

I think they both came to Bayern to figure out their place, figure out how much potential and drive they have and so far I’m excited to see where they go and how they develop as people. Like niklas being a tol sunshine puppy who wants to make friends but isn’t really good at it balanced by Rudy who wants to be better but not lose Niklas in the process of proving himself.

Yeah, yeah. that’s my take.
