Chapter Update: The Earth, The Sky, and Entirely Too Much F*cking Water

The Earth, the Sky, and Entirely Too Much F*cking Water is now posted on AO3!

It is a ficlets and short stories compilation that is made to accompany my hardenshipping series, The Dead Sea Trilogy, although I think many of the fics will not require that you've read it or caught up.

We've got Maxie going insane during grad school. We've got Archie being a big lovable goof. We're going to have goofy antics from Archie and Maxie's new team, and Colress is always there. We've got Hardenshipping. We've got Feralscienceshipping. We have Courtney keeping together Maxie's last shreds of sanity.

“THERE’S TOO MUCH WATER ON THIS PLANET, COURTNEY!” he yelled, scooting back out toward the door.  A couple sheets of paper went flying out of his arms.  He did not bother to pick them up.  “ENTIRELY TOO MUCH FUCKING WATER.  IT NEEDS TO MAKE ROOM.”    As the papers scattered and came to a rest on the ground, Courtney waited in the silence and stared at the empty space where Maxie had been.  She was about to walk over to pick them up, but then he reappeared at the door.   “I need you to write that down, actually.  We’re going to destroy all water.”

So yeah, she was the one who tried to take care of there being too much water, as some reviewers hated, and this is the best she could do. Say thank you sand wizard.

HELLO!! I just wanted to say that The Devil and The Dead Sea was one of the VERY FIRST Hardenshipping fics I ever read like 2 years ago and it COMPLETELY re-ignited the love I have for ORAS while making me realize just how much I love Archie and Maxie too. I absolutely adore Devil, and I've loved Icarus just the same. I'm also super hyped for Mother Earth in the future!! Just wanted to praise how good your writing is and say that it has also been a huge inspiration to me <3

Jay said it was a tree frog. I'll believe him. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed that it was so bright and yet not poisonous.

Looks funky. A little messed up. The kinda guy who would sit on a tree and look down at you ominously.

8. What is their first date like?

This one I do have scribbled down in my notes to write about in the stories compilation, but basically, as mentioned at the end of Devil and the Dead Sea, they do go to get coffee for their "first date." I put it in quotes because, well, here is how I think it went:

Archie gets to the coffee shop like way early because he's only seen it in passing and hasn't hung out in Lilycove proper in years

Maxie is hellbent on showing up exactly 3 minutes early so as to appear normal about the entire situation (he is very Not Normal about the situation)

in the 24 minutes between when Archie shows up and Maxie arrives, Archie is hanging out outside the cafe

People, obviously, are very surprised and curious to see him especially in light of The Incident

Archie tries to casually explain he is meeting Maxie here without it seeming like a date

someone gets an anonymous tip that it is, in fact, a date

The Vans Start Showing Up

The media vans

Archie grows increasingly alarmed that The Vans Are Showing Up and texts Maxie a warning as he starts getting swamped by paparazzi

Luckily, Maxie came prepared and has a small swarm of ex-Team Magma already there to shield him, who all arrive exactly 3 minutes early

After brushing off some questions, Team Magma holds off the rest of the reporters and Archie and Maxie duck and cover, run inside

At this point, there is hardly anyone in the cafe (everyone was outside interrogating Archie), the baristas knew exactly what was up, and they have a nice little window seat for them prepared, facing away from the street, so no reporters can see in

They laugh about how wretched and horrible that was, Maxie makes some remarks about Archie being so early, which Archie is bashful about. Maxie, likewise, is nervous out of his mind

Courtney walks in for a bubble tea at some point and sips it loudly in the back corner, watching, but Maxie is so nervous he doesn't even realize it's her

she may have been the one to give the anonymous tip

the world may never know

Archie and Maxie talk some more about how they're either going to have to restrategize their dates or just accept that they're going to be chased incessantly for the next couple months

No conclusions are reached, but Maxie makes fun of Archie for barely liking any coffee and yet suggesting the coffee date, and Archie makes fun of Maxie for Ordering a Death Drink

they have some food too and spend a bit too long in there because The Public is still waiting for them outside. They part ways outside the cafe in attempt to Make The Crowd Disperse

this is only a couple days after Maxie was released from the hospital due to The Incident and a couple days before their first court hearing

Following an accident, Danny wakes up in Gotham City in a DC universe. Lacking any forms of ID or possessions beyond the clothes on his back, he’s forced to commit some crimes to survive. Minor crimes, but still.

And then he gets caught.

During the court proceedings, they come to the mistaken conclusion that he’s a Meta suffering from some psychiatric issues such as Cotard’s Syndrome (a real rare condition where a person holds the delusional belief that they’re dead/don’t exist/etc).

Thus, between his “need for mental treatment” and the concerns about housing someone with his unique physical traits, he is sentenced to spend time in Arkham Asylum. He’s under pretty low security aside from the anti-Meta stuff and has more freedoms than some other inmates, but it’s still not a great experience. Even at the best of times, Arkham is hardly a nice place.

Some of his fellow residents are decently chill all things considered, but lots very much aren’t.

I’ll never understand why He Xuan had to go through with his elaborate revenge plot against Shi Wudu the way he did. He already had the perfect revenge set up. Murdering Shi Wudu might have brought He Xuan momentary satisfaction, but seducing the man’s precious little brother and rubbing the relationship in the water tyrants face every single day is eternal.
