After his rehabilitation for drug addiction in the 1980s and with his acting career starting to wind down, Tony Curtis found solace in painting. He shifted gears towards becoming a full-time artist and a part-time actor. Curtis briefly moved to Hawaii to paint and exhibit his work at a Honolulu gallery. His paintings were exhibited in Los Angeles, New York City and Paris. Famous friends including Billy Wilder, Lew Wasserman, Frank Sinatra, Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas all purchased some of Curtis' work.

Prompt 27 Mr Butterfly
Stephen and Tony had just left the restaurant and were about to walk home when Christine called.
One of the patients had a complication, they wanted his advice, so Stephen went straight to the operating room, while Tony wandered off to the pediatric ward.
Many children had to stay in the ward on Christmas Eve, and it looked like every other day. Until the sudden arrival of Iron Man made everyone here excited.
As Stephen walked to the pediatric ward, he could hear the laugh coming from inside.
He opened the door to find Tony standing in the middle of the ward, surrounded by a gaggle of children, and they turned in unison.
“Mr Butterfly!”
Suddenly, a little girl pushed her way through the crowd and ran toward Stephen under the surprised eyes of all the doctors, nurses and Tony, screaming excitedly for a hug.
After only a moment's hesitation, he opened his arms to catch the little girl who had dashed at him.
"Hello, Emily."
She gently took him by the hand and turned to look at all the stunned people:
"I told you Mr Butterfly was true! He can do magic and make lots of butterflies! Right Steph?"
Emily lifted her head, shook his arm, and smiled at him expectantly.
Stephen paused and caught a glimpse of Tony smiling gently at him from the crowd. Christine, standing next to him, flashed a knowing, warm smile.
“Well,” he rubbed her hair and gave her a little smlie.
“of course, honey."
A flock of butterflies appeared and danced around Emily to her screams of excitement. A blue butterfly landed on her nose, causing the little girl to giggle.
"Wow they’re so beautiful!!! Thank you so much, Steph!"
The dull ward was filled with laughter and golden magic.
Stephen leaned against the wall and smiled warmly. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Tony walking toward him, smiling widely.
“So, what was that?”
“I met her the last time I came, she was crying hard, so...”, Stephen shrugged.
“Mr Butterfly huh?”
"Oh shut up." he said, rolling his eyes with a smile.
"No way, Mr Butterfly." Tony winked at him, grasped his waist.
Cheers rang out all around them, then Tony kissed him deeply.
"This is the best Christmas ever, my Butterfly."

Christmas!!!![scream] I have soooo many ideas...

For your age gap quandary, I say the first option is best with early 50's Peggy and 40 year old Angie. You could have a little end scene in which a grown up Tony teases his favorite Aunts' about how he got them together by needing to be babysat but that could also be a little cliche.
Hey anon... I love this idea, but as I was writing it, it took a different turn. I will get to the age gap, but I like what I ended up with, and I hope you do, too.
The Reluctant Babysitter
“No, Howard. Absolutely not.” Peggy Carter folded her arms across her chest and stared at her
friend.
“C’mon, Peggy,” Howard cajoled. “It’s only for one night.”
“I am your director, Howard. Not your babysitter.”
Howard rolled his eyes. “Tony adores you, Peg.”
“And I love him,” Peggy responded. “But, I am not good with children in domestic settings. Not by myself.”
Howard sighed. “We have a new nanny lined up, but she can’t be here until Saturday morning.” He glanced at this watch. “And Mrs. Wentworth’s flight left an hour ago.”
“I fail to see how any of those things are my problem.”
Howard lowered himself into the chair near Peggy’s desk. “They’re not. But you’re my oldest friend. And Maria and I trust you to keep him safe for one evening.”
Peggy narrowed her eyes at him. “I’m 52. How will I possibly keep up with a three-year-old boy?”
Howard smirked. “I’m 56, and I manage to keep up with him.”
Peggy glared at him, but Howard simply smiled the winning smile that had wooed so many women in the past. It had never worked on Peggy, no matter how many times Howard tried. But when her eyes fell on the picture of a precocious little boy perched on the edge of her desk, her annoyance softened. Tony was a delightful child. A handful, to be sure, but he loved his Aunt Peggy, and she loved him fiercely in return. Having no children of her own, Peggy had thrown herself into the role of godmother when Tony was born. Whenever he came to work with Howard, Tony insisted on staying in her office with her throughout his stay. Tony’s giggles as he worked on his latest “shematiks” as he called them, brought a smile to her face, and she always managed to have extra cookies in her drawers for his visits.
Peggy shook her head and sighed. “Just this once, Howard.”
Howard beamed. “I owe you, Peg.”
***
Howard owed her big time, Peggy thought as she chased the naked little boy throughout the Stark mansion. Her heels had come off three bedrooms ago when she barely managed to catch herself from face-planting after tripping on the edge of the Persian rug draping the floor.
Tony’s gleeful yells echoed down the corridor. Of course, he was having a marvelous time. Peggy hadn’t intended on bathing him, but after he somehow covered himself in sticky chocolate sauce, she had no other option.
Given Tony’s vocal resistance to the idea of a bath, she should’ve known to lock the door, but she hadn’t. And when Peggy momentarily left the tub to procure a fluffy towel, Tony escaped, leaping out of the suds and barreling past Peggy before she had time to process what had happened.
She heard a crash in the room ahead, and suddenly, Tony’s laughter morphed into tiny howls. Peggy’s heart sped up, and she hurried into the next room as visions of an injured Tony danced through her head. When she rounded the corner and saw Tony sitting on the floor, cradling his foot, she relievedly sighed. There was no blood to be seen, and nothing appeared to be broken.
Rushing to him, Peggy draped the towel around his small form and reached for his foot. She ran her fingers across the skin and gently turned his foot back and forth as Tony whimpered, tears running down his cheeks.
“Oh, Tony,” Peggy sighed. She gathered him into her arms and pressed a kiss against his damp forehead.
“Is it broken, Aunt Peggy?” he sniffled. “Are the doctors going to chop it off?”
Peggy bit back a laugh and kissed her head again. “Nothing of the sort, darling.”
Tony stared up at her with wide eyes. “Promise?”
“I promise.”
She stood up and lifted him into her arms. “I think you’re going to be all right, but if you want a second opinion, we can always call Mr. Jarvis.” She gave him a tender look, knowing how much her godson adored her and Howard’s oldest friend. “Would you like that?”
Tony considered her offer for a moment but then shook his head. “I just want you, Aunt Peggy.”
Peggy’s heart constricted as she pulled Tony closer to her. “I’m not going anywhere, love.”
They walked through the hallway towards the main entry, and Peggy shifted Tony against her hip. “Perhaps we could watch some television this evening. Would you like that?”
Tony peered up at her. “With popcorn?”
Peggy smiled. “Of course.”
“And butter?”
“And butter,” Peggy agreed.
Tony tilted his head. “And a root beer?”
“Just this once,” Peggy laughed. “But don’t tell your mother.”
Tony crossed his heart and held up four fingers. “Scout’s honor.”
Peggy chuckled. “Somehow, I don’t think you’ll ever be a Boy Scout, but I accept your root beer pledge.”
Tony beamed and snuggled closer to her, wrapping his tiny arms around her neck. “I love you, Aunt Peggy.”
Peggy tightened her arms around him. “I love you, too, my darling boy.”
***
Tony was fast asleep, popcorn strewn across his blanket and an empty root beer bottle clutched in his hand. Peggy gazed at her godson affectionately, marveling at the twists and turns her life had taken to bring her to this moment.
Fondue, midnight flights across Europe, a broken heart over love lost too soon.
At times, it seemed that life had been too harsh, too unfair. But now, as she tenderly stroked Tony’s brow and listened to his soft breathing, Peggy realized she wouldn’t change anything that had happened to her.
The sting of losing Steve all those years ago had never entirely gone away, but she had surrounded herself with friends who became family, and she created an organization of which she was fiercely proud. Although she would never have children, she had Tony.
As she watched him sleep, Peggy vowed she would do whatever it took to keep him safe and shield him from even a fraction of the haunting things she had seen during her lifetime. Her godson deserved to grow up without the heavy burden she and Howard shouldered.
Gathering him into her arms, she placed a gentle kiss against his cheek. “I promise to keep you safe, darling boy.”
Tony stirred against her but didn’t wake.
“I promise,” Peggy repeated. “I will keep you safe.”

7/9/23.
By the time this posts, the 2nd run of this release may be sold out (check out Molina's page...there might be some there). Slumberland Records and Speakeasy Studios SF are co-releasing this ode to The Softies and Tony Molina.
Tony Molina get the lion's share of the ode. Rose Melberg and Jennifer Sbragia (The Softies) cover the entirety of Molina's "Dissed and Dismissed". Molina covers three songs by The Softies. It's everything you think it might be.
We'd previously covered another excellent Speakeasy Studios band - The Lost Days.

a very tired miguel who gets home from work and gets babied by his woman
-
It's close to 9pm as you're lying on your bed. keeping your focus on the book you're reading, one that you failed to keep as a part of your routine due to your busy schedule with work. being a fashion designer has it's perks but it also has its dark sides too. especially when it comes to dealing with snobby ass clients
as you are about to flip to another page, you hear the front door opened. keys rattling against the ceramic bowl with a loud sigh follows after. a soft smile appears on your face soon as you realize who it is
“miguel? Is that you?” you softly call out your husband’s name while putting the book down.
"si, mi amor" he appears shortly by the doorway. your tall and handsome fiancee adorned in an unbuttoned white shirt that showcase a bit of his chest and paired with black trousers. a simple work attire but never fail to make your knees wobble. the sight could put any Greek Gods known to a man to shame.
your heart breaks a little seeing how tired he looks. his eye-bags are coming off too strong. a constant reminder on how he has been working himself far too hard despite you telling him to take it easy. but that's just how he is, stubborn.
"how's work my love?" you ask, watching him undress himself, revealing his exposed toned chest before putting the clothes away with the rest of his dirty ones in the bathroom. "I take it, it wasn't a good day?"
"you could say that" he replies tiredly, grabbing a pair of sweatpants off the chair and slipping it on. "trying to get ahold with the new recruits is a fucking job, Peter's been getting on my nerves and I'm working on advancing the technology we have right now in order for it to be easier to identify every single anomaly's DNA we've come across to. But the amount of hypotheses and research I've done are nowhere near close to how I want them to be."
"i would ask Tony Stark for help but que cabron esta muerto" he breathes out a sigh, pinching the thick skin between his brows. "I'm drained, mi amor... i can't fucking do this shit everytime--"
"no hey.. stop" you shake your head, hate having to see your man fronting a distressed look in his face. “come here, Miggy” you pout at him patting your chest for him to lay his head,
he sighs heavily. plopping into the bed and carefully lays himself on top of you. pounding head finding comfort in the warmth of your chest, snaking his big arms around your waist.
you put your arms around him, locking him tightly as your soft lips kiss his forehead making him purr.
“my pretty baby. exhausted aren't you? hm?” you ask in a cooing tone. he hums -- which sounded like a growl to you-- with a nod before nuzzling himself closer. “oh my poor poor baby... my handsome man. always working himself to the bone” another kiss on the forehead
“come up a little closer, hm?” you ask as he barely shifts his body. too lazy and far too comfortable in your arms like this for him to move.
you run your fingers through his soft hair, moving a piece that’s covering his forehead. looking down to see him close his eyes, yet not sleeping.
it’s so funny to see how this freakishly large- broad man who always seems to bring a cold presence that scares everyone off at work—which is technically true— then turns into a huge softie and a love puddle for you in a split seconds.
it’s truly a privilege that you’re the only one who gets to see and feel this
“look how cute you are, baby… do you know how cute you are, hm?” you coo at him, lips kissing his nose and the sharpness of his cheekbone. trying your best to console him in hopes of washing his stress away.
he lightly shakes his head. “no” a curt reply rolls of his mouth, drawing your body closer to him if that's even possible.
you pretend to gasp dramatically at his answer. fingers still stroking his hair lightly. “you don’t?! oh no! we have to fix that! you’re the cutest *kiss* most handsome *kiss* hardworking *kiss* man I’ve ever known” showering him with compliments in between kisses. he breathes out a small chuckle that muffles against your chest.
it’s obvious that miguel rarely gets treatments like this, he’s no one to shy from things but you're his only exception. the only person who truly can get him blush like a little kid when he's shown the slightest bit of affection.
“who’s baby are you hm? are you my baby?” a smile graces your lips as your eyes casting down to his pretty features.
“me. I’m your baby” he mumbles, tightening his grip around you. "always be your baby"

It was a rare evening of relaxation, one Tony had insisted on, knowing that the team needed a break. Among those present, you, Tony's daughter, sat comfortably on the sofa, flanked by Natasha and Wanda.
Natasha and Wanda had been together for some time, their bond forged in the fire of battle and the quiet moments in between. Their love was deep, powerful, and enduring. But it wasn't until you came into their lives that they realized their hearts had room for one more person. Your innocence, your radiant smile, and the light you brought into their lives had drawn them both to you. It was a slow, gentle process, but eventually, the three of you found yourselves in a relationship characterized by affection and new beginnings.
Although your relationship was still fresh, the bond between you was undeniable. Natasha and Wanda were very patient with you and understood that you had never been in such a relationship before. They cherished you and wanted to take things slowly, but the connection between you grew stronger with each passing day.
Tony entered the room, his presence immediately drawing attention. "Okay, everyone, listen up!" he called out, his voice cutting through the chatter. The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to him. "I have a surprise for you." Tony began, a grin spreading across his face. "We've been through a lot lately, and I think it's time for a break. So, I've decided to invite you all to my private island for a little vacation. No missions, no stress, just time to relax and enjoy life."
Excitement spread through the room, but your heart skipped a beat. A vacation with Natasha and Wanda, away from the distractions of your busy lives? The thought was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. Wanda gently squeezed your hand, leaning closer. "Doesn't that sound nice?" she whispered, her voice soft and full of affection.
Natasha smiled at you, her lips curling into a slight smile. "I think it will be good for us. A little time to unwind." You nodded, your cheeks flushing slightly. The thought of spending uninterrupted time with them was enticing, but you couldn't ignore the nervous flutter in your stomach. Your relationship was still so new, and you weren't sure if you were ready for more intimate moments. But the loving and patient look Natasha and Wanda gave you reassured you that they would take things at your pace. As the Team buzzed with excitement, Tony clapped his hands. "Okay, pack your bags, everyone. We're flying out tomorrow!"
The private jet ascended into the sky, carrying you to your tropical destination. You sat by the window, watching the sea stretch out below you. Natasha and Wanda sat beside you, their presence a calming anchor amidst your swirling thoughts. Wanda leaned closer, her voice a gentle murmur. "You seem lost in thought."
You turned to her and smiled shyly. "I'm just thinking about how nice it will be to relax with both of you." Natasha chuckled softly, her tone playful. "You're going to love it. And don't worry we'll take care of everything."
There was a subtle undertone in Natasha's words that made your heart race. You knew that you were all still exploring the boundaries of your relationship, but you couldn't ignore the growing sense of anticipation for what this vacation might bring. Soon, the island came into view, a breathtaking slice of paradise surrounded by turquoise waters and pristine white sandy beaches. The team marveled at the sight, impressed by Tony's private retreat. As you disembarked, you were greeted by the warm breeze and the scent of the ocean, which instantly washed away the stress of your lives.
Your accommodation was nothing short of luxurious—a sprawling villa with private suites, each offering stunning views of the sea. You, Natasha, and Wanda were given your own suite, a secluded sanctuary where you could enjoy each other's company away from the others. As you entered the suite, you couldn't resist rushing out to the balcony. The view was spectacular, the sun beginning its descent toward the horizon, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. Natasha and Wanda joined you, standing by your side, their arms wrapped around your waist.
"This is perfect.." you whispered, your voice filled with awe. Wanda pressed a gentle kiss to your temple. "It's beautiful, just like you." Natasha's hand glided down your hip, her touch light but possessive. "We're going to have a wonderful time here. Just the three of us." There was a tension in the air, not unpleasant, but electric. You could feel it, the subtle shift in your dynamic. Natasha's touch lingered a little longer, and Wanda's gaze held an intensity that made your heart race.
The morning sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm, golden light over Stark Island. The team had decided to spend the day at one of the island's pristine beaches, taking full advantage of the perfect weather. The beach was a secluded spot, surrounded by lush greenery, with soft white sand stretching down to the crystal-clear water. The three of you walked hand in hand, your feet sinking into the sand as you approached the others. The team had already claimed a spot, spreading out towels and setting up a few large umbrellas for shade. It was the ideal day to relax, with nothing but the sound of the waves and the gentle rustling of palm trees in the background.
You had chosen a simple but flattering swimsuit that both Natasha and Wanda had admired that morning. You had blushed under their appreciative gazes, a feeling of warmth accompanying you throughout the day. Now, as you settled on your towels, you couldn't help but notice how close Natasha and Wanda were to you, their presence a constant, soothing warmth.
"Okay, who needs sunscreen?" Natasha asked, holding up a bottle and giving it a light shake. The rest of the team waved her off, already busy applying their own. But Natasha's eyes rested on you, a playful grin on her lips. "Y/n?" You felt your cheeks heat up. "I could use some, yeah.." you replied, your voice a little softer than usual. Wanda's eyes sparkled with mischief as she took the bottle from Natasha's hand. "I'll help you." You lay down on your stomach, your pulse quickening as you felt Wanda's fingers begin to spread the cool lotion across your back. The touch was gentle, but there was a certain firmness to it, a pressure that made your skin tingle with anticipation. Wanda's hands moved slowly, taking their time, and you could feel your breath hitch as the sensations sent shivers down your spine.
Natasha, not wanting to be left out, scooted closer, brushing your hair aside and applying the lotion to your shoulders and neck. Her touch was more focused, her fingers kneading the tension from your muscles as she worked. The combination of their touches, Wanda's soft and soothing, Natasha's firm and confident sent your thoughts spinning. Surrounded by their love, you realized just how much you wanted it. The touches, the closeness, the way Natasha's and Wanda's hands lingered on your skin..it awakened something deep inside you.
When they were finished, you felt as if you were on the edge of something you couldn't quite name. Your body was alive with sensation, every nerve attuned to their presence. You spent the rest of the day distracting yourself, swimming in the ocean, playing volleyball with the team, and enjoying the sun, but nothing could ease the longing that had settled deep within you.
When you returned to your private suite, you couldn't shake the lingering sensations from the day. You lay between them, your back resting against Wanda's chest, while Natasha lay on your other side, her fingers idly tracing patterns on your arm. The atmosphere was comfortable, but beneath it lay a tension, a silent conversation that passed between the three of you. Wanda's hand moved slowly, tracing the line of your collarbone before sliding down over your heart and resting there. "You seem a little quiet." Wanda murmured, her breath warm against your ear.
Natasha's hand stilled on your arm, her eyes searching your face. "Is something on your mind?" she asked, her voice gentle but with that playful undertone you loved so much. You could feel your heart racing, the sensation of their hands on your skin making it hard to think clearly. You had been wrestling with the emotions that had built up inside you all day, and now, in the intimacy of your shared bed, those feelings were impossible to deny.
You swallowed and whispered, "I've been thinking about earlier..about how you guys made me feel." Natasha's lips curved into a knowing smile. "Oh? And how did we make you feel?" Your cheeks flushed as you glanced between the two women. In their eyes, there was no judgment, only love and desire. You felt safe with them, but also vulnerable, in a way that both thrilled and terrified you.
"I..want more.." you confessed, your voice trembling slightly with a mix of nerves and anticipation. "I'm ready..for more." Wanda's hand on your chest tightened slightly, her thumb stroking slowly and deliberately over your skin. "Are you sure, darling?" she asked, her voice deep and soothing. Natasha’s hand moved to cup your face, her thumb tracing along your jawline. "We'll take it as slow as you need, Y/n. But if you're ready..we're here."
You felt the weight of their love in those words, and it gave you the courage to push past your nerves. You turned to Natasha and pressed your lips to hers in a kiss that started soft but quickly deepened as your desire took over. Natasha responded instantly, her hand slipping into your hair to hold you close. Wanda's hand slid lower, her touch gentle but purposeful as she explored your body with a tenderness that made your breath hitch. "You're so beautiful.." Wanda whispered against your neck, her lips brushing the sensitive skin there and sending shivers down your spine.
You broke the kiss with Natasha, your eyes wide with a mix of longing and uncertainty. "I want both of you..I want to feel everything with you, please.." you admitted, your voice barely more than a breath. Natasha’s eyes darkened with desire, but her voice remained calm. "You'll feel everything, Y/n. We’ll take care of you, together."
Wanda’s fingers traced the outlines of your ribs with intentional slowness. "We’ll go at your pace, love. Just let us know if you need anything. Anything at all." You nodded, your heart pounding in your chest. You had never felt so exposed yet so loved at the same time. Every touch from Natasha and Wanda was full of promise, a silent vow to protect you, to cherish you, and to make sure you felt safe and cared for.
When the moment finally came to take the next step, you felt your nerves resurface, the weight of the unknown pressing down on you. But Natasha sensed your hesitation and was the first to pull back slightly, her green eyes filled with concern and love. "Y/n, it’s okay." Natasha whispered, her hand gently cupping your cheek. "We don’t have to rush anything. We have all the time in the world."
Wanda, lying on the other side of you, nodded in agreement, her hand resting comfortingly on your waist. "We’re here for you, Y/n." she said softly, her voice a soothing balm to your frayed nerves. "Let’s start with something familiar, something that makes you feel safe." Natasha leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips, her hand stroking your hair tenderly. "We’ll go at your pace." she promised, her voice full of tenderness. "Just tell us if anything feels uncomfortable, and we’ll stop right away." Wanda smiled gently, her lips brushing your temple as she spoke. "We want you to feel good, Y/n."
With those words, they began to guide you, their touches becoming more focused as they helped you find a more comfortable position. Natasha kissed you deeply, her lips moving softly against yours, while Wanda pressed kisses along your neck, her hands soothingly caressing your sides. As their kisses grew more intense, you felt yourself relaxing in their embrace, your earlier nervousness slowly giving way to growing anticipation. Wanda’s lips trailed lower, along your chest, with deliberate slowness that sent waves of pleasure coursing through your body.
Natasha’s mouth followed Wanda’s lead, her kisses mirroring the soft, lingering touch, as she moved to your other side, her hands stroking your skin in calming, circular motions. They took their time, allowing you the space to adjust to the sensations, their mouths working in perfect harmony to increase your pleasure. When Wanda’s lips finally reached your lower abdomen, she paused and looked up at you with a gaze full of pure adoration. "Tell us if it becomes too much, Y/n." Wanda whispered, her breath warm against your skin. Your breath caught as you felt Wanda’s lips moving lower, the sensation unfamiliar but deeply arousing. "It feels..good," you murmured, your voice breathless. "Please, don’t stop.."
Wanda smiled, her eyes full of love as she lowered her mouth to your core, her tongue moving with precise care to bring you pleasure. Natasha, unwilling to be outdone, continued to kiss and caress your upper body, her lips tracing a path along your collarbone and breasts, her hands never leaving your sides. The dual sensation of Wanda’s mouth and Natasha’s hands overwhelmed you in the best possible way. Your breath came in short gasps as the pleasure built within you, every movement of Wanda’s tongue and every touch from Natasha sending waves of ecstasy through your body. Natasha’s lips found yours again, kissing you deeply as Wanda continued her skillful work below. "You’re doing so well.." Natasha whispered against your lips, her voice husky with desire. "Just let yourself go."
"I..shit..I-"You could barely manage a response, your mind consumed by the intense sensations coursing through your body. You had never felt anything like this before, and it was all thanks to their love and care. Their mouths moved in perfect sync, one focused on your pleasure while the other grounded you, ensuring that you felt safe and could enjoy every moment.
When Wanda’s tongue hit a particularly sensitive spot, your body tensed, the wave of pleasure tightening inside you. Natasha’s hands moved to hold you steady, her lips trailing gentle kisses down your neck in soft, lingering touches. "Just let go, Y/n.." Wanda murmured between her movements, her voice low and reassuring. "We’re right here with you." Natasha’s hands gripped your waist, her voice a soft whisper in your ear. "We’ve got you, Y/n. You’re safe."
With their loving encouragement and the overwhelming sensations from Wanda’s mouth, you finally let go, your climax hitting you like a wave, leaving your body trembling. You cried out softly as the pleasure overtook you, the intensity of your orgasm leaving you breathless. Wanda continued her gentle ministrations, guiding you through the aftershocks, her mouth never leaving you until she had eased you through the waves of pleasure. Natasha held you close, kissing you tenderly as your body slowly relaxed. "That’s it.." Natasha whispered, her voice full of pride and love. "You did so well."
As your breathing slowly returned to normal, you felt a warmth blossoming in your chest, a mix of love, satisfaction, and deep connection to Natasha and Wanda. But the night was far from over..Wanda kissed her way back up your body, her eyes filled with adoration as she met your gaze. "You were amazing, Y/n.." Wanda said softly, her voice thick with emotion. "But if you’re ready, we’d love to share even more with you."
You nodded, your heart still racing, but your earlier nervousness had now been replaced with growing curiosity and desire. "I want..to feel everything with you," you whispered, your voice steady despite the lingering excitement. Wanda smiled and kissed you deeply before positioning herself between your legs. "We’ll take it slow, and if you ever want to stop, just say the word." Wanda assured you, her voice calm and full of love.
Wanda moved carefully, her eyes never leaving your face. The initial sensation was unfamiliar, but Wanda’s gentle, slow movements and the look of love in her eyes reassured you. She paused to give you time to adjust before continuing, her movements gentle and tender. The sensation of feeling Wanda inside you was intense, but the combination of her careful approach and Natasha’s soothing touch helped you relax. Natasha kissed you softly, her hand gliding along your body as Wanda found a steady rhythm.
You gasped at the sensation, your body slowly adjusting to the feeling of fullness. Wanda’s movements were loving and deliberate, her eyes fixed on your face to ensure you were comfortable. "How are you feeling, Y/n?" Wanda asked softly, her voice full of concern. You nodded, your voice a breathless whisper. "F-Fuck, its so good..!"
Wanda smiled, her movements becoming more confident as your body responded to the pleasure. Natasha’s hand found yours, holding it firmly as she pressed gentle kisses to your lips, her voice a calming murmur in the quiet room. "You’re doing so well, Y/n. Just focus on what feels good."
The rhythm between you all soon became more intense, and you lost yourself in the sensations, your earlier nerves forgotten. Wanda’s movements were deep and steady, bringing you closer and closer to the edge, while Natasha’s kisses and touches only heightened the pleasure. When you finally reached your peak again, it was with a soft cry, your body shaking as the pleasure washed over you. Wanda slowed her movements, helping you through the waves of ecstasy, her eyes full of love as she watched you from below. Natasha kissed you deeply, her hand gently caressing your cheek. "You’re so beautiful, you know that?" Natasha whispered, her voice full of emotion. "We’re so proud of you." As you tried to catch your breath, Wanda slowly withdrew, pressing a tender kiss to your lips.
Buutt, Natasha, who had held back to ensure you were comfortable, now positioned herself between your legs, her own arousal evident. "If you’re ready, Y/n...I would love to feel you too.." Natasha said softly, her voice filled with longing but also with a deep care for your well-being.
You nodded, still catching your breath from the overwhelming sensations, but eager to share this intimate connection with Natasha as well. Your body still hummed with the afterglow of pleasure, but the love and desire you felt for both Natasha and Wanda gave you the confidence to continue. Natasha's eyes softened at your nod, her expression filled with affection as she leaned down to kiss you deeply. Her lips moved tenderly against yours, as if to remind you of her unwavering support and love. "I'll be gentle." Natasha whispered against your lips, her breath warm on your skin. "Just tell me if anything feels too much."
Wanda, who had shifted to your side, gently stroked your hair and whispered soothing words, her presence a constant source of comfort. "We're right here with you, Y/n. Just focus on the feeling and know that you're safe."
As Natasha positioned herself, she moved with the same care and patience that Wanda had shown. She guided herself to your entrance, pausing to look into your eyes for any sign of hesitation. Seeing only trust and readiness in your gaze, Natasha slowly began to move forward, her actions controlled and deliberate. The sensation of Natasha entering you was different from what you had felt with Wanda, equally intense, but with a new depth of connection that made your breath catch. You gasped softly as Natasha filled you, your body adjusting to the new feeling. Natasha moved with exquisite gentleness, giving you all the time you needed to acclimate.
For a moment, Natasha paused, her green eyes locked on yours, her hand reaching up to brush a stray hair from your face. "God, you're doing so good." she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "How does it feel?"
Your breath came in shallow bursts as you processed the fullness inside you, but the overwhelming sensation was one of love and warmth. "Uh..huh..It feels... really good.." you whispered, your voice laced with awe. "Please... don't stop.." Natasha smiled, her eyes filled with pure adoration as she began to move in a slow, steady rhythm. Each thrust was measured, focused entirely on bringing you pleasure while ensuring you felt secure. Natasha's hands roamed your body, her touch grounding you in the moment, as if anchoring you to this shared experience.
Wanda, who was lying beside you, leaned in to press soft kisses to your temple and cheek, her hand gently caressing your arm. As Natasha continued to move within you, you felt the pleasure begin to build once more, a slow, insistent wave that grew stronger with each movement. The combination of Natasha's deep, even strokes and Wanda's tender touches heightened your senses, driving you closer to the edge.
Natasha's eyes never left yours, her gaze full of devotion as she whispered sweet reassurances. "You're so beautiful, like this..!" she murmured, her voice husky with desire. "I love you so much. Just let go whenever you're ready."
Wanda's fingers moved in perfect harmony with Natasha's thrusts, her gentle caresses amplifying the pleasure that was coursing through your body. "We've got you, love." Wanda whispered, her voice soothing and encouraging. "You're safe with us. Just let it happen."
With their combined efforts and the overwhelming sensations flooding your body, you finally let go, your climax hitting you with a force that left you breathless. Your body trembled as the waves of pleasure crashed over you, your mind lost in the intensity of the moment. Natasha moaned softly as she felt your body tighten around her, her own climax approaching rapidly. "Y/n... I'm so close..!" Natasha breathed, her voice heavy with need.
"Just a little more.." Natasha whispered, her movements becoming more urgent as she neared her own release. Wanda's hand never left yours, her other hand stroking your cheek lovingly as she whispered words of encouragement. "We're so proud of you, Y/n.." Wanda murmured, her voice filled with warmth and affection. "You're doing so well. You're amazing."
With a few more deep, steady thrusts, Natasha reached her own climax, her body shuddering as the waves of ecstasy overtook her. She let out a low, throaty moan as she rode out her orgasm, her hands gripping your waist as she savored the sensation. After her release, a calming stillness settled over the room. Natasha slowly withdrew from you and collapsed beside you, her breath still coming in heavy pants as she wrapped her arms around you. Wanda leaned in to place a tender kiss on your lips, before pulling you into a tight embrace, ensuring you were securely nestled between them.
For a moment, the three of you lay there in a comforting silence, the only sounds being the gentle rustling of the sheets and the soft rhythm of your breathing. The intensity of the experience still lingered, but it was accompanied by a profound sense of peace and connection.
Wanda was the first to speak, her voice barely above a whisper as she caressed your cheek. "You were absolutely incredible, Y/n." Wanda said, her eyes shining with pride. "Thank you for trusting us." Natasha, still recovering from her own orgasm, leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. "We love you so much." Natasha murmured, her voice filled with raw emotion.
You smiled, your body finally relaxing fully in their embrace. A deep sense of contentment and fulfillment washed over you, far beyond the physical pleasure you had just experienced. It was the knowledge that you were cherished, valued, and deeply loved by these two incredible women who had guided you through this intimate journey. "I love you both." you whispered, your voice soft but filled with sincerity. "And we love you." Natasha and Wanda responded in unison, their voices a harmonious echo in the quiet room.
As the three of them slowly drifted off to sleep, lulled by the quiet intimacy of the moment, the door to the room suddenly creaked open. Your eyes snapped open in alarm, your heart leaping into your throat as you suddenly saw Tony standing in the doorway. "Y/n, are you-" Tony began, but his voice trailed off as he took in the scene before him. His eyes widened slightly, clearly surprised by what he had walked in on.
Natasha and Wanda reacted quickly, pulling the covers over you to shield you from view. You, embarrassed and completely caught off guard, turned bright red and tried to burrow even further under the blanket. "Dad!" you exclaimed, your voice a mix of embarrassment and frustration. "What are you doing here?!"
Tony, now fully grasping the situation, quickly raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, a sheepish grin playing at the corners of his mouth. "Whoa, whoa! Sorry! Didn't mean to barge in!" Tony said, trying to backtrack, though it was obvious that he was slightly amused by the whole thing.
Natasha and Wanda exchanged amused glances, clearly finding the situation more entertaining than awkward. Wanda stifled a laugh, while Natasha smirked, obviously enjoying your reaction even as they tried to comfort you. "Tony, maybe knock next time?" Natasha suggested, her tone light and teasing. "We were a bit..preoccupied."
You, still mortified, groaned and buried your face in your hands. "This is so embarrassing.." you muttered, your voice muffled by the blanket. Tony, seemingly unfazed by the tension, continued with his string of awkward questions. "I mean, was it..you know, at least good? No, uh, technical issues? Everything-"
"Dad, seriously, stop!" you groaned, burying your face in your hands, overwhelmed with embarrassment. But Tony, apparently not catching on, kept going. "Hey I always wamted to knowwho was on top-" You let out a muffled scream into your pillow, utterly mortified. "Please, just leave!"
Natasha finally couldn’t hold back her laughter, her shoulders shaking as she tried to keep it quiet. Wanda bit her lip, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Tony raised his hands in mock surrender, still grinning as if he was thoroughly enjoying himself. "Okay, okay, I'm going. But, hey, if you ever want to talk about..you know, positions or, uh, tips, I'm here for you, kiddo. Or, you know, not—whatever."
As Tony finally turned to leave, you peeked out from under the covers, your face still bright red with embarrassment and disbelief. "Why does he have to be like that?" you muttered, utterly mortified. Natasha chuckled, pulling you into her arms. "Because he's Tony Stark." she said, pressing a kiss to your temple. "And because he cares..in his own weird way."
Wanda smiled, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. "At least he supports you, even if he's a bit too curious." she added with a soft laugh. With the tension broken, the three of you settled back down, you securely nestled between Natasha and Wanda, feeling safe, loved, and despite everything, a little less embarrassed as you finally drifted off to sleep.

My Tummy Hurts
WandaNat x Reader
Warnings: Injured R / Hospital
It was an easy mission, so why were you here? | WC: 2,245
"Hey guys," you greeted your lovers with a smile, or so you thought, but all they got was an odd grimace.
"Detka?" You truly smiled then, but no communal joy followed as you slurred and pointed, "that's me."
"What the fuck happened to Y/N?" Natasha turned to accuse the men stood behind you, still on the quinjet.
——
The men immediately flew into a panic, all saying the same thing—you were fine, albeit worded differently. Natasha was seconds away from wringing their necks but her focus shifted back to you, who was now pouting and gripping at your burning stomach. "Wands?"
Wanda smiled at you, "What's the matter honey?"
"My tummy hurts," you uncharacteristically whined, laughter normally would've bellowed from behind you, Tony never one to miss a chance to tease someone, but then you swayed into Natasha's prepared arms and Wanda was quick to levitate you three to the medbay.
—
"Appendicitis?!" You exasperated for the third time, "are you fucking kidding me?!" Wanda shook her head, eyes empathetic as she reached for your hand, in the meanwhile Natasha chuckled over a spoonful of your lime jello—traitor that she apparently was. "Get out."
This caught the Russian's attention, her eyes widened at the malice in your tone and she was scared shitless to have to leave your side. You didn't mean it, as you wanted them close, but she didn't need to know that.
Natasha plopped the half finished jello down and moved her chair even closer, her hand reached for your free one and her heart settled when you let her grab it. "I—," she started but you just shook your head and smiled softly, "just don't laugh at me again, capeesh?"
"Now," you moved right on, the disdain back in your tone, "I just got back from space after karate chopping a pile of goop," you stole your hands back and gave your lovers a show of what took place before. Natasha trying her damndest to keep her laughter in, "Fucking sick as shit but now I'm taken out by a useless organ?"
"Mhm," Wanda hummed in amusement, "Bruce ran some tests and thinks that the creature you 'karate chopped' released a toxin into your body that caused the upset in your stomach and ruined your day home."
"Home," you repeated, voice soft as you reached for both of their hands again, squeezing to really get across to your lovers the sentiment of how great the drugs were. Not that you weren't a softie, because you were indeed the softest of the three, just never this publicly.
Natasha and Wanda shared a bit of eye contact before the witch was gone, you pouted at her absence but it was short lived when the assassin pecked your lips. "She's going to get the doctor malyshka, get the all clear so we can take you upstairs." You grinned.
"Yeah," she chuckled, "we knew you'd love that."
—
When you came to next, not even remembering falling asleep again, you immediately recognized the room. It was just as you left it all those years back, just with a few new boxes of clutter Wanda held onto and stored in here, and you were also lying in a more sterile bed.
Just as you tried to sit up you felt a hand on your chest keeping you down. "Wait, I'll sit you up Agent Y/L/N."
A frown naturally overtook your face at the unfamiliar sight of a blonde woman in a white coat, but before you could even consider taking her up on an identity the door flew open and your girlfriends ushered her out.
"Wa—," before you could finish speaking a spoonful of bone broth was shoved into your mouth. Judging by the sunsetting in the sky you knew it was already the following day, which was admittedly slightly alarming. Yet your urge to inquire the time flew out the window as the bite of food kicked the hunger in your body up.
After scarfing down the bowl you begged for more, but not of the soup. “Y/N no, I am not feeding you ice—.”
“I am dying,” you dramatized, “I need a pint to live!”
Wanda was about to admonish you for all the begging and humoring of death, but then she caught sight of your pouting lip and wet eyes, so of course she melted. Natasha rolled her eyes at your antics before she knowingly slipped out of the room to collect the first outlandish request of many, she could only assume.
When she returned the atmosphere was calmer, you were telling Wanda, who was sat at your bedside with a full smile, about the moments leading up to the fight.
“Tony, resident idiot that he is, caused the power in the entire city to go out for the sake of his suit mods, which made our attempts until then to stay hidden wasted.”
“Sounds about par for the course,” Nat teased her way into the conversation and you looked to her with a brighter smile at the sight of the ben and jerry pint.
The women took turns replying to you and spooning the ice cream into your mouth. You talked with a full mouth but Wanda let it go each time, a bit too relieved to still have you here for her to deem it worth scolding.
It wasn’t until the witch could see, in your eyes, just how tired you were that she decided to stop letting it all slide. It was sweet the way you tried to stay awake just to talk to them, but once the woman set the empty container down and wiped your lips clean she was inconspicuously putting you to sleep. Her words of reply faded into hums as she mindlessly traced her fingers over the exposed skin of your arms until your words aimed at Natasha faded out and became a snore.
—
The pair had left you sleeping in your hospice bed about an hour ago, it was hard to convince the Dr on duty to let you leave the ward after surgery but Tony's check book came out and now the woman is settled in a room across the hall for the night. Unnervingly.
The woman watched you sleep for about ten minutes after having administered your medicine and feeding you a pint of ice cream, much to your delight, Wanda's dismay and Natasha's envy. They'd made sure Friday locked you in before they headed down to eat dinner.
The natural redhead huffed, again, as she pushed the mushy green beans around her plate, ignoring the red tinted look of agitation Wanda sent her way. "Bros'."
(knock it off / quit)
"Nyet," the redhead grumbled over a bite of potatoes.
"She needs her rest," Wanda decidedly empathized.
"I missed her," the redhead sighed, "we were going to finish the bannister garden and cuddle under stars."
The witch felt a similar ache, that mission you were on took an entire month, you were fine too, but no longer. Wanda moved her chair closer, leaning her head on the redheads shoulder, dainty fingers wrapped around a muscular bicep, both woman shivered. For a moment the silence was peaceful, but then the witch sighed, "She was going to help me plant in said garden."
Natasha took a big bite of her steak and got lost in thought about how you somehow perfectly fit into their dynamic. You build things and spar with her, then go garden while discussing your latest read with Wanda. Like Nat, you can't cook but like Wanda you can bake.
"Our multifaceted, badass girlfriend," Wanda coo'd seconds later and Natasha snorted, "taken out by an appendix." Wanda shoved her shoulder but chuckled alongside her as they both silently regarded you with a different fondness. Natasha loved your goofy side.
The first time she'd met you was the worst day of her free life, Wanda was off on a dangerous mission and communications had been lost in the worst of it. You were her only hope as you worked tirelessly to get her back online. Her hands were shaking against her will, so she had to guide you, shields top agent, instead.
They called you her shadow, it was rumored around the base that you studied her fighting and mirrored her in not only strength but intellect. Unfortunately for you that meant being woken up only hours after returning from your own tumultuous mission. To meet your idol and crush while drooling into your pillow wasn't exactly pleasant, nor ideal when you're doing it to reconnect her with her girlfriend, it hurt.
Yet you persevered on through the awkward moments of silence and smiled when the comms cracked to life.
"Agent Romanoff, the comms are—."
"Natasha?" Wanda coughed and the redhead laughed emotionally, you were alarmed to see the Black Widow cry but it was endearing above all else. "Detka, I am so happy to hear your voice—fuck, I-I love you Wanda Maximoff, moya krasivaya detka."
Judging by the gasp on the other end you realized you were trapped in an intimate moment with them. It was beautiful and unfairly gut wrenching all at once. Soon enough it was Wanda's turn to cry out, "I love you too Natasha Romanoff; more than anything."
It was sweet, intimate, and then you sneezed. Glaring green eyes found yours and you could only shrug. "You kidnapped me from my bed, brought me to a room layered thickly in dust and didn't consider this."
"Natasha, what's going on?" The redhead smirked at you and whispered, "Wanda, meet Y/N, my stalker."
Your eyes widened at the lightweight true call out but kept your cool all the same. "You kidnapped me."
"You're free to go agent," she softly called out, it was a bit of a shock to see her this way when her reputation held a different tone. Just as you went to walk by she grabbed your arm, grip soft as she squeezed. Your attention shifted up and she smiled. "Thank you."
"Anytime," you shrugged it off nonchalantly but she knew you meant it sincerely. Just as you were almost out the door you turned and teased. "Thank me with an invitation to the wedding. I've experienced a Wanda party in full effect; I'll have the salmon."
Wanda appreciated your softer side the most.
One time, just before they asked you to be theirs, when you thought no one was watching, you had an entire conversation with their cat, Liho. Scratching his chin, feeling the purr of his gratitude on your fingertips as you animatedly discussed your day aloud with him.
"Natty and Wands are so considerate," you sighed dreamily, "and sweet—I woke up to breakfast and lunch made for me as if they weren't really busy."
You paused, hand reaching out to scoop the teetering feline up so he could sleep as you spoke a bit softer, "Then they both gave me a hug in greeting and I nearly couldn't breathe because of just how stunning they both are, no makeup and in their matching pjs."
The way you spoke made Wanda smile, her heart nearly leapt from her chest at your pure adoration.
An adorable groan fell from your lips before you shamelessly concluded, "you're the luckiest kitty on earth, with the unobtainable milfs of my dreams."
Wanda walked away with a pep in her step as she went to seek Natasha out with the good news. When the elevator dinged you released a breath shortly after, hoping now that they'd make a move as you pet their cat that would soon adopt you as his favorite.
Truth be told, everyone in the room favorited you.
—
A smile took over your face as you heard your lovers laughing through the vents of your old room back from when you were single but shared a floor with them. It was endearing, hearing the warmth and deepness of their well established connection still burning bright.
It took you awhile to feel welcome in their dynamic, even with the invitation; what really helped you along the way was the sneaky moments like these. Where they thought they were quietly simping over you but you caught the whispered words and sweetest giggles.
Hearing it then helped you to regard them as safe, because they were talking out their complex feelings. How they felt about the other having these feelings, neither was offended by the other and it shocked you. Their flattery was not lost on you with their willingness to even risk the beautiful thing they already had going.
Then to hear it now, and have it solidified that even in moments of upset they'd find a way back to that same peace within seconds—they're safe, and you are loved.
Something you knew well, and felt as they gave up on sleeping without you that night—against that doctors orders of course; when you swiftly looked up from your book the women were stood at the door with sheepish smiles. None of you spoke, all very much aware of the state of codependence that exists within your dynamic.
Natasha yawned dramatically and Wanda huffed before she snapped her fingers. Soon two cots were beside your bed once the red mist had cleared, all wires adjusted accordingly before they laid down, took your book and covered up, then slid a hand each into yours.
"Goodnight," you yawned, "I love and missed you too."

You were once a bright young engineer, fresh out of MIT with dreams as big as the sky. You had a passion for technology, a sharp mind, and a heart full of ambition. Then life happened, in ways you never expected. You met someone, fell in love, and things moved fast. Maybe too fast. A whirlwind romance turned into an unexpected pregnancy, and before you knew it, you were a mother to a beautiful baby girl named Lily.
But your partner? He wasn’t ready. He disappeared from your life, leaving you alone to figure things out. At first, it was overwhelming, balancing work, the responsibilities of motherhood, and the heartbreak of abandonment. But you pulled through. You took up freelance work, designing software and small tech solutions from home, juggling conference calls while nursing, coding through the night after bedtime. You got used to it, became stronger, more resilient. Now, your daughter is five, a bundle of energy and curiosity who’s inherited your love for science and technology.
You’ve come a long way since those early days of struggle, but there’s still a part of you that wonders if you’ll ever find someone who’ll love both you and Lily. Someone who won’t run at the first sign of difficulty.
And then one day, you meet Tony Stark.
🚀
You don’t expect your day to take a turn like this. It’s a warm Saturday afternoon, and you’re at a local science expo — a rare treat for you and Lily. She’s dragging you from one exhibit to another, her little hands pulling on yours with excited tugs. It’s moments like these that remind you why you push so hard. Seeing her wide-eyed and full of wonder makes every sleepless night worth it.
You’re at an exhibit featuring cutting-edge AI when you feel her stop abruptly.
“Mommy, look! That's Iron Man!” Lily’s voice is filled with awe as she points to the tall figure standing a few feet away, surrounded by a small crowd. You follow her finger, and your heart skips a beat.
Tony Stark.
There’s no mistaking him, dressed in a sharp blazer and sunglasses, exuding that signature arrogance and charm you’ve only ever seen on TV. He’s in the middle of a casual conversation with someone, but even from here, you can feel the aura of importance surrounding him.
“Yeah, that’s Iron Man,” you murmur, feeling a bit like a deer in headlights. You hadn’t expected to run into someone like him.
But Lily, being the fearless little adventurer she is, takes off running toward him before you can stop her. You’re quick on her heels, heart pounding as you call her name.
“Lily, wait!”
But it’s too late. She’s already tugging on Tony Stark’s pant leg by the time you catch up, looking up at him with those wide, curious eyes.
“Hi, Iron Man! I like your robots,” she says brightly, as if she’s talking to any random adult. Tony glances down, pulling his sunglasses off to reveal a pair of surprisingly kind eyes as he kneels to her level.
“Hey there, kiddo. You’ve got good taste.” He flashes a grin, and for a moment, you see why people love him so much. There’s something disarming about his easy confidence.
You finally reach them, feeling flushed with embarrassment.
“I’m so sorry—she’s… really into tech. She didn’t mean to—”
But Tony waves a hand dismissively, standing up to his full height and giving you a once-over. His gaze lingers just a fraction too long, and you suddenly feel like you’re under a microscope.
“No harm done,” he says, his tone surprisingly light. “She’s got a future, clearly. Knows how to pick role models.”
You chuckle awkwardly, still trying to process that you’re standing in front of the Tony Stark. Up close, he’s even more intimidating, but in a weirdly magnetic way. There’s a spark in his eyes that speaks of brilliance, mischief, and something deeper you can’t quite put your finger on.
“She loves Iron Man,” you say, trying to regain some composure. “She’s been obsessed with building things since she could stack blocks. I can’t seem to keep her away from anything mechanical.”
Tony arches a brow, glancing down at Lily who’s now excitedly talking about the miniature rocket she tried to build last week.
“Is that so?” he says, crouching down again, giving Lily his full attention. “A mini rocket, huh? Did it work?”
Lily shakes her head, her pigtails swaying. “It almost did. But it went boom.”
Tony chuckles, ruffling her hair lightly. “Sometimes that’s how the best inventions start. Next time, try using a lower combustion rate. Less ‘boom,’ more ‘whoosh.’”
You’re surprised by how gentle he is with her, how effortlessly he connects with a child, that you don't have the heart to tell him that it was you who did the major part of the building process. For a moment, you just watch them, your chest tightening at the sight of Lily’s joy. It’s rare for her to interact with anyone like this, especially someone who doesn’t treat her like a kid.
He stands up again, turning to you with a smirk. “She’s smart. Gets it from her mom?”
You flush slightly at the compliment, feeling a bit tongue-tied under his gaze. “I guess you could say that. I was an engineer before…” You trail off, not sure why you’re suddenly oversharing. Something about Tony Stark makes it hard not to.
Before you can say more, he interrupts. “Let me guess — you’re still an engineer. Just doing the mom-engineer thing now. That’s no small feat.”
You blink, caught off guard by how perceptive he is. “Yeah. Pretty much.”
“Well, for what it’s worth, I know a thing or two about multitasking. Running a company and saving the world — it’s basically the same as raising a kid, right?”
You laugh despite yourself, relaxing a little. He’s not what you expected. Less distant, more… human.
“Sure, except your robots actually listen to you,” you quip, and Tony grins.
“Most of the time,” he admits. “So, any chance I could take a look at that rocket project? I’ve got a thing for fixing ‘booms.’”
Your heart skips again at the casual offer, but before you can reply, Lily pipes up, bouncing on her toes.
“Can we, Mommy? Please?”
You glance between her eager face and Tony’s amused expression. This is surreal. But there’s something about the way he’s looking at both of you — like he’s actually interested, not just humoring a fan. Like he sees you.
Maybe this isn’t a bad idea after all.
As you walk beside Tony Stark, weaving through the crowd, you can't quite believe what's happening. This kind of thing doesn't happen to people like you. Yet here you are, with Lily practically skipping ahead, chattering excitedly about rockets and robots, while Tony listens with genuine interest.
“So,” he says, glancing sideways at you, “what’s your theory on the combustion failure? Too much fuel or not enough stabilization?”
You blink, caught off guard by the sudden technical question. You’d been bracing yourself for more of his charm or sarcasm, but here he is, actually engaging with you on a deeper level. You’re impressed, though it makes sense—he is Tony Stark, after all.
“Stabilization, mostly,” you reply, falling into a rhythm of conversation. “The design was sound, but we didn’t account for the weight distribution. It shifted mid-launch and threw everything off.”
He nods thoughtfully, like he's analyzing every detail. “Classic mistake. I had a similar issue with one of my early suits—though, you know, a little less ‘mini rocket,’ a little more ‘metal suit crashing into a building.’ Same basic concept, though.”
You laugh at the mental image, feeling a bit more at ease. “Yeah, I imagine the stakes were a little higher for you.”
Tony shrugs, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Well, let’s just say property damage and I have a complicated relationship.”
Lily turns around, walking backward as she looks up at Tony with wide eyes. “Did you blow up a building?!”
He grins, glancing down at her. “A few, but mostly on purpose. Don’t try that at home, kid.”
Lily giggles, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She’s clearly in awe of him, and it’s hard to blame her. You feel a bit of that awe yourself, though you’re trying not to show it.
“So, where’s this rocket of yours?” Tony asks, glancing around like he's half-expecting it to pop out of nowhere.
You clear your throat, feeling a bit sheepish. “Oh, um… it’s back at our apartment. We didn’t exactly bring it to the expo. I wasn’t expecting to run into… well, you.”
Tony raises an eyebrow, his smirk growing more pronounced. “What, you don’t carry failed rocket prototypes everywhere you go? Amateur move.”
You roll your eyes playfully. “Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.”
Tony taps his chin, pretending to think hard. “Tell you what. Why don’t you two swing by my place later? I’ve got a full lab, and I’m sure we can find something that won’t blow up—at least not right away.”
Your heart skips at the offer. Is he serious? Inviting you to Stark Tower like it’s the most casual thing in the world? You glance down at Lily, who’s looking up at you with pleading eyes, clearly hoping you’ll say yes.
“Are you sure?” you ask, trying not to sound too shocked. “I mean, we wouldn’t want to intrude.”
Tony waves a hand dismissively. “Intrude? Nah. Besides, I’ve been meaning to show off my new toys to someone who actually appreciates them. Kids are way better at that than most adults.” He glances down at Lily, then adds with a wink, “Plus, I’ve got juice boxes.”
Lily practically jumps up and down. “Mommy, can we go? Please, please, please?”
You hesitate for a moment, weighing the surreal situation. But something about Tony’s easy demeanor, the way he’s connected with Lily, and even the way he’s made you feel comfortable makes it hard to say no. It’s not every day you get a chance like this, and you know Lily will talk about it for weeks if you turn it down.
“Alright,” you say, giving in with a smile. “I guess we’re going to Stark Tower.”
Tony grins, looking genuinely pleased with your answer. “Great. Let’s make it a field trip.”
🚀
An hour later, you find yourself walking through the sleek, high-tech halls of Stark Tower. The whole place feels like something out of a futuristic movie, and you can’t help but feel a little out of place. But Tony, ever the showman, makes sure neither you nor Lily feel that way for long.
“Welcome to my humble abode,” he says with a grand gesture, like he’s introducing you to some royal palace. “I was going for ‘modest,’ but you know, things escalated.”
Lily’s eyes are practically bugging out of her head as she looks around, taking in the shiny surfaces, the impressive tech displays, and the overall coolness of the place. “This is so cool,” she breathes.
You can’t help but agree. “Yeah, this is… incredible.”
Tony leads you both to his lab, where holograms flicker in the air, and sleek machines hum quietly in the background. It’s every bit as impressive as you’d imagined—maybe more so. He walks over to a workbench, tapping a few buttons on a console until a holographic blueprint of a rocket hovers in front of him.
“Alright, kiddo,” he says, crouching down to Lily’s level. “Let’s see what we’re working with. Tell me about your rocket.”
Lily beams, launching into an enthusiastic explanation of her project, complete with wild hand gestures. Tony listens intently, nodding at all the right moments, occasionally throwing in a comment or suggestion.
You stand back, watching the two of them interact. It’s surreal, seeing Tony Stark—the Tony Stark—so genuinely engaged with your daughter. He’s patient, encouraging, and—despite his usual sarcasm—there’s a warmth in the way he talks to her that catches you off guard.
As Lily finishes her explanation, Tony stands up and looks over at you. “Sounds like you’ve got a real prodigy on your hands.”
You smile, feeling a swell of pride. “She’s pretty special, yeah.”
Tony taps his chin thoughtfully, then flashes you a grin. “You know, I don’t usually offer internships to five-year-olds, but I could make an exception.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “Maybe in a few years.”
“Fair enough,” Tony replies, still grinning. “But seriously, if she ever wants a tour of the lab—or you do—just say the word.”
You raise an eyebrow, surprised by the offer. “You’re full of surprises today.”
Tony shrugs, nonchalant. “What can I say? I’m a generous guy. Plus, I like hanging out with people who don’t try to sell me on their latest ‘groundbreaking’ invention every five minutes.”
The three of you spend the next hour tinkering with the rocket design. Tony gives Lily some gentle guidance, teaching her a few tricks of the trade while making sure to keep things light and fun. You can tell she’s having the time of her life, and honestly, so are you. You’ve never seen her this animated, this confident.
As the afternoon winds down, Tony walks you both back to the lobby, hands in his pockets, his usual easy smirk back in place.
“Well, that was fun,” he says. “I’ll have my people send over the specs we worked on. Maybe next time, we can tackle world domination.”
You chuckle. “I’ll let you know if we’re free for that.”
Tony winks at Lily, who’s practically buzzing with excitement. “And hey, kid—next time you’ve got a rocket that goes ‘boom,’ give me a call. We’ll fix it together.”
Lily grins, waving enthusiastically. “Okay! Bye, Iron Man!”
As you leave Stark Tower, you can’t help but glance back at Tony one last time. He gives you a casual wave before turning back toward his lab, and you can’t shake the feeling that today was more than just a chance encounter.
It feels like the beginning of something. Something new. Something… different.
And you can’t wait to see where it goes.
🚀
Over the next few weeks, your life takes on a surreal, almost dream-like quality as Tony Stark begins to weave his way into your world. What starts as a few casual meet-ups, mostly centered around Lily’s fascination with all things tech, turns into something much more.
The first time he invites you both back to Stark Tower, it’s under the pretense of helping Lily with her latest invention—a robot that she’s determined to build from scratch. You sit back, watching as Tony patiently explains complex concepts to your five-year-old daughter, all while making it fun for her. There’s a tenderness in the way he interacts with her that surprises you. Tony Stark, the world-renowned billionaire with a reputation for being difficult, is kind and patient with a child, in ways you never would have expected.
You’re impressed, of course. But more than that, you find yourself drawn to the man behind the Iron Man persona.
It starts with little things. The way Tony catches your eye when Lily says something particularly cute or brilliant, the small smirk he gives when he knows you’re trying to hold back a laugh. He makes a habit of throwing sarcastic comments your way, but you soon realize it’s his way of flirting—teasing you in that playful, witty way he’s known for.
"You know," he says one afternoon while you’re watching him help Lily with a mechanical arm for her robot, “I think I deserve some kind of award for this. ‘Best Teacher to a Mini-Engineer.’ Maybe a medal. Or a statue.”
You smirk, folding your arms across your chest. “Oh, absolutely. I’m sure the world’s been waiting for a bronze Tony Stark to grace Central Park.”
He grins, that familiar glint of mischief in his eyes. “I knew you were smart.”
It’s in these small moments that you find yourself opening up to him. You’ve always been independent, not allowing yourself to lean on anyone for help, but Tony’s different. He’s been through his own struggles, carried his own burdens, and while you’re still cautious, you find comfort in the fact that he gets it. He doesn’t judge you for being a single mom or for the sacrifices you’ve had to make. If anything, he admires it.
"Raising a kid and working as an engineer?" he says one night over dinner—yes, dinner. He’d invited you and Lily over for what he called "a Stark special," which turned out to be takeout pizza and some ridiculous dessert made by his AI assistant. "That’s a superhero gig right there."
You laugh, shaking your head. “I’m pretty sure saving the world in a metal suit still beats making school lunches and fixing leaky faucets.”
“Hey,” Tony says, his tone light but serious, “you do both. No suit needed.”
That night, when you leave, you find yourself thinking about him long after Lily has fallen asleep. There's something about Tony that lingers. Maybe it's his charm, or maybe it's the way he looks at you like you’re more than just a mom balancing a million things—like he sees the person you were before all the responsibilities took over.
As time passes, the two of you fall into an easy rhythm. You, Tony, and Lily have your little routine now, with frequent visits to Stark Tower becoming almost a weekend tradition. What surprises you most is how seamlessly Tony has integrated into your life—and not just with Lily. He asks about your work, your passions, the things you’ve had to put on hold since becoming a single mom. He pushes you to take up some of your old engineering projects, even offering his lab space if you ever want to tinker.
“You could use the space when I’m not around,” he says one evening, nonchalant as ever. “There’s always room for another genius around here.”
You laugh it off, though your heart skips a beat. “I’m pretty sure one genius is enough.”
Tony arches an eyebrow, his smirk deepening. “You’re right. With you here, we might be over capacity.”
As the weeks turn into months, you realize you’ve grown used to having Tony around. He’s no longer just the famous billionaire who showed up at a science expo one day. He’s become a friend, someone you can talk to, someone you can rely on.
But there’s more to it than just friendship. You feel it in the way your heart flutters when he leans a little too close during one of his sarcastic quips, or the warmth that spreads through your chest when he smiles at you—really smiles, with that soft, almost vulnerable look in his eyes. You find yourself looking forward to the moments when it's just the two of you, standing on the balcony of Stark Tower late at night, talking about everything and nothing while Lily sleeps soundly in the guest room.
One evening, after one of those long, late-night talks, something shifts. You’re standing on the balcony, the city skyline stretched out before you, the cool breeze brushing your skin. Tony’s beside you, quiet for once, just watching the city lights. There’s a rare stillness about him, and you feel the weight of it, like he’s on the verge of saying something important.
“You know,” he says after a long pause, his voice quieter than usual, “I didn’t expect this.”
You glance at him, confused. “What do you mean?”
He turns to face you, and for a moment, he’s not the confident, sarcastic Tony Stark. There’s something raw in his expression, something vulnerable. “This. Us. You and Lily.” He swallows, as if the words are difficult for him. “I’ve spent so much time being Iron Man, or the guy who fixes problems, that I forgot what it’s like to just… be with someone. To care about people who aren’t expecting me to save the world.”
Your heart skips. His honesty catches you off guard, but you can tell it’s not something he shares often. And suddenly, you realize that you feel the same way.
“You’ve been… different for us, too,” you admit, your voice soft. “I wasn’t looking for anyone, and definitely not someone like you, but…” You trail off, unsure how to finish the sentence. How do you explain that Tony Stark has become more than just a fixture in your life? That you’ve started to fall for him, for all his quirks and complexities, for the way he’s seamlessly become part of your world?
Before you can find the right words, Tony steps closer. His eyes hold yours, that familiar spark of mischief still there, but tempered with something deeper. “I think,” he says, his voice low, “you and I are a pretty good team.”
You smile, feeling the weight of what’s unspoken between you. “Yeah,” you whisper. “We are.”
And then, without another word, Tony leans in. The kiss is soft at first, tentative, as if testing the waters. But when your lips meet, there’s a spark, an electric current that runs through you both, confirming what you’ve known for a while now.
This is real. This is something worth holding on to.
🚀
The decision to make your relationship with Tony Stark official doesn’t happen in a single moment—it’s a gradual shift, one that feels inevitable after months of stolen glances, lingering touches, and nights spent talking on his balcony. But when it does happen, it’s perfect in its simplicity.
It starts one morning in his penthouse, a few months after that first kiss. You’ve been spending more time there, with Lily (who Tony affectionately refers to as "the little genius") practically making his lab her second home. The three of you have fallen into a comfortable rhythm, a little makeshift family that somehow feels like it’s always been meant to be.
On this particular morning, you wake up tangled in Tony’s sheets, the warmth of his body pressed against your back, his arm draped lazily over your waist. You turn your head slightly, smiling to yourself as you hear the soft hum of his breathing. For a man who seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, he looks surprisingly peaceful when he sleeps.
As you shift to move, Tony tightens his arm around you, pulling you back against him with a sleepy grumble. “Where do you think you’re going?”
You chuckle, your voice hushed in the early morning quiet. “Trying to escape before your little apprentice wakes up.”
He groans, burying his face in your neck. “Let her tinker. She’s practically running the lab anyway.” His lips graze your shoulder as he speaks, and you feel a familiar spark of heat ripple through you at his touch.
“You’re terrible,” you murmur, though there’s no real bite in your words. You’ve gotten used to Tony’s brand of affection—playful, but with an edge of intensity that never fails to make your heart race.
“Mmm, terrible, but irresistible.” His voice is still thick with sleep, but there’s a hint of mischief in it, the same mischief that always makes your pulse quicken. He shifts slightly, his hand trailing from your waist down to your thigh, fingers brushing lightly against your skin in a way that’s both teasing and possessive.
You turn in his arms, meeting his gaze. His eyes are half-lidded, but there’s a familiar hunger there that sends a thrill of anticipation through you. “You’re definitely full of yourself,” you say, though your voice is softer now, breathier.
Tony’s smirk grows, his hand slipping beneath the sheets to pull you closer. “And you love it.”
Before you can respond, his lips capture yours, and any thought of protest melts away in the heat of the kiss. His hand grips your thigh, pulling your leg over his waist as he deepens the kiss, the familiar intensity building between you. It’s slow at first, a lazy sort of desire, but it doesn’t take long before you’re both lost in each other, the rest of the world fading away.
Later, as the sun filters through the curtains and you’re both tangled together in the sheets, a comfortable silence fills the room. Tony’s fingers are tracing absent patterns on your arm, and you can’t help but smile at how natural it feels, how easy.
“Have you thought about… telling people?” you ask softly, your head resting on his chest.
Tony raises an eyebrow, though he doesn’t seem surprised by the question. “Telling people, as in the media?”
You nod, suddenly feeling a little vulnerable. Being with Tony Stark comes with a certain level of exposure, and while you’ve been okay with the low profile you’ve kept so far, part of you wonders what it would mean to go public.
Tony is quiet for a moment, then he tilts your chin up to meet his gaze. “Hey, I don’t care what they say out there,” he says, his voice firm but gentle. “If you want to keep things private for now, we can do that. But if you’re asking if I’m ready to go public…”
His thumb brushes over your cheek, a soft smile tugging at his lips. “I’ve never been more sure of anything.”
Your heart flutters at his words, warmth blooming in your chest. “I don’t care about the media,” you admit. “I just… I want to make sure we’re ready. That Lily’s ready.”
Tony’s expression softens at the mention of your daughter. “Lily’s already got me wrapped around her finger. I’d be more worried about how I’m going to survive that.”
You laugh, but the sincerity in his words brings a lump to your throat. Tony’s relationship with Lily has grown in ways you never expected. He’s been patient, playful, and completely devoted to her. And seeing them together has only deepened your feelings for him.
“Okay,” you say finally, smiling at him. “Let’s do it. Let’s go public.”
When the news breaks, the media goes into a frenzy. The headlines scream about “Tony Stark’s New Flame,” and “Iron Man’s Mystery Woman.” Paparazzi photos of you and Tony walking hand in hand through Central Park with Lily are splashed across every tabloid and news outlet.
To your surprise, the response is largely positive. While some outlets speculate about Tony’s past relationships and his infamous bachelor reputation, most seem genuinely intrigued by the idea of Tony Stark settling down, especially with someone who isn’t from the celebrity world.
The tabloids nickname you “The Genius and the Heart” and seem fascinated by how “normal” your life is compared to Tony’s glamorous lifestyle. There are articles praising you for balancing being a single mom with your engineering career, while others focus on Tony’s softer side, now that he’s seen as a father figure to your daughter.
You try to ignore most of the noise, but Tony, of course, has fun with it. One morning, you catch him scrolling through a gossip site, shaking his head in amusement.
“They think I’m domestic now,” he says, pretending to be offended. “I mean, can you imagine me, Tony Stark, settling down with a family?”
You roll your eyes, sitting beside him on the couch. “You do realize you’re proving them right by reading that, right?”
He grins, tossing his phone aside before pulling you into his lap. “Let them think what they want. I’ve got everything I need right here.”
The moment you realize how much your relationship with Tony has changed comes one evening when you’re back at the penthouse after a long day. Tony’s in the kitchen with Lily, helping her with a science project that’s somehow turned into an impromptu baking session. The sound of Lily’s giggles fills the space, and you’re watching them from the doorway, a warm smile on your face.
Tony’s crouched down, talking to Lily as they decorate cupcakes—his version of “science.” You’re about to step in and join them when you hear it. Lily looks up at Tony, eyes wide with excitement, and says, “Can I put the sprinkles on, Daddy?”
Your breath catches. It’s the first time she’s ever called him that, and for a moment, you freeze, unsure how Tony will react.
But Tony doesn’t miss a beat. He smiles, ruffling her hair and handing her the sprinkles. “Go for it, kiddo. Just don’t get too carried away.”
Your heart swells, a mix of joy and disbelief washing over you. Lily’s words hang in the air, and when Tony glances up at you, there’s a softness in his expression that takes your breath away. He’s not just playing a part—he’s become a part of your life in ways you never imagined.
Later, when Lily’s asleep, you and Tony find yourselves curled up on the couch, the weight of the day settling into a comfortable silence. You rest your head on his chest, your fingers tracing absent patterns on his arm.
“She called you ‘Daddy,’” you murmur softly, still processing the moment.
Tony’s hand tightens around yours, his voice quiet but filled with warmth. “Yeah, she did.”
You glance up at him, searching his face for any sign of hesitation, but all you see is a man who has found his place—who has chosen to be here, with you and Lily.
“Are you okay with that?” you ask, your voice a little unsteady.
Tony looks down at you, his eyes filled with a tenderness that makes your heart ache. “I’ve never been more okay with anything,” he says, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. “I’m all in. With both of you.”
Tears prick at the corners of your eyes, but they’re tears of happiness, of relief. You reach up, cupping his face as you pull him into a kiss—slow, tender, and filled with all the emotions you’ve been holding onto for so long.
When you finally pull away, Tony brushes a thumb across your cheek, his smile soft but full of promise. “So, what do you say? Think you can handle me as part of the family?”
You laugh, your heart feeling light. “I think we’ve been handling you just fine.”
And as you settle back into his arms, you know that this—this—is exactly where you’re meant to be. Together. A family.
Forever.
okay, this was so cute to write <3 I love writing Tony as a softie, because I know deep down he is one.

Not Unnoticed Gestures
A/N: call me a motherfucking softie bc HOO BOI
"Yeah, but we need to consider that we aren't the only ones with powers," you added, looking at the large AI whiteboard in front of the group.
"You really think they experimented on them too?" Clint questioned.
Steve answered, giving you a moment to weigh the odds. A flash of something in the corner of your eye had you turning your head a moment later, brows raising at the mug filled with warm, fresh tea that now sat next to your laptop. You looked around and found Natasha taking her seat on the chair near Tony. You met her eyes and she sent a gentle, barely noticeable smile your way.
Your heart fluttered. It was these moments, those small gestures, the almost unnoticeable ones, that proved to you that she cared.
You and Natasha were.... well, you weren't quite sure. You weren't just friends... and you weren't together either. In a time when things were so uncertain, it was difficult to find time or the energy for a relationship. That didn't mean you both weren't aware of the love between the two of you.
It was the same in other ways.
"Is that what you would say, Romanoff?" you laughed, taunting her as you watched the sweat drip down her face, her chest heaving with the labored breaths that came with sparring.
Your head tilted, eyes falling to the blossoming bruise on her shoulder. You had a half second to purse your lips before you were thrown backwards.
"Watch it, Y/L/N," Nat smirked.
After you had showered, you found her in the living room. You gathered a bag of ice, wrapped it in paper towel to help with the cold, and brought it to her. You gently set it on your shoulder before walking away.
Natasha had watched you go, her green eyes nearly filling with tears at your observance and kindness. She'd made a mental note to leave you a small gift later.
When you'd stumbled into your room later that evening, half sore and half tipsy, you froze at the single flower on the nightstand. She hadn't left a note, she didn't need to.
It was as if the two of you knew only how to show love in the small gestures.
Like when late autumn had hit and you just couldn't quite shake the chill in the air. You couldn't stop shivering, sniffling constantly from your running nose. It had been a long day, and you were unwinding in the living room watching whatever show had sounded good to you.
The red-head entered, taking one look at you before pulling a blanket from the basket.
"It's like you can never get warm," she mused, equally amused and concerned as she threw the blanket over your shoulders. You couldn't help but feel that her hands lingered on you.
You shrugged. "It's cold. And I've always been this way."
She hummed, before standing. "Tea." She booped your freezing nose on the way out.
The little gestures were never unnoticed between the two of you. It was what you had and when the world became a little less hectic, when the two of you were ready, those little gestures would turn into much more.

Astroboot’s Masterlist | Series Masterlist | Spiderverse Masterlist
[Previous issue] [Next Issue]
According to an article that ran in the New York Times: one out of every 40 New Yorkers will have a run in with a Superhero in the time they live here.
That might not sound like much, but considering that nearly 8.5 million people live in this city, it adds up to a lot of people. In fact, most in your friends circle have their own anecdotal story to tell.
I ran into Tony Stark at the Brandy Library and he asked me for my phone number. Bit of a sleaze but he bought our whole table a round of drinks.
Captain America landed on my Fiat on Manhattan Bridge. He dented the roof, but he was very polite about it.
Daredevil was hanging out at the fire escape ladder above the Meatball shop. Gave me tips on what to order.
It's nothing short of a miracle that having lived in this city for as many years as you have that this is the first time you've had a Supes encounter.
It'll be a great story to tell at parties. You fell out of the Chrysler building and were rescued mid-air. It blows all the other stories out of the water. Though, you'll probably leave out the part where he wished he'd left you to die.
You stare blindly at your computer screen. There are endless rows of cells on your excel sheet no matter how far you scroll. Uninterrupted numbers and reference codes for insurance claims that are waiting for your attention. But the numbers and letters all blend into an indecipherable sludge soup. All you can focus on is: 'I should've let you fall.'
Heat prickles your cheek, as you replay his words in your head.
What the hell.
That was entirely unnecessary.
You didn't deserve that.
Over the course of the last 24 hours, you've played the scene on an endless loop in your head, until the memory is worn and scratched like a used up VHS tape.
Did you do something wrong? You must've. Who has ever heard of a Superhero treating a civilian in this manner? You’re just a hapless innocent bystander who fell out of a building due to a supervillain battle they started. To blame it on you and then call it a mistake. Isn't that something a supervillain would do?
Gritting your teeth, you feel yourself seething of the memory of the windows next to you breaking and shattering out of nowhere as a bird-person villain with mechanical wings tumbled past you. Next thing you knew you were tumbling out the window.
And then he saved you.
Did he mean to save someone else? Is that why he was so annoyed? But, you didn't see any other people falling from the building on your way down.
You replay the memory. Again.
The looming silhouette of his towering frame over yours as he sneered down at you.
He looked at you like he knew you. Like you had offended him with your mere existence. But you don't understand how. You've never met him before. Never met anyone who looked even remotely like him. You would've remembered a man with red eyes, they're not exactly common. Plus, you don't think you've ever met someone quite so tall. Your neck hurt with the angle you had to crane just to look at his face.
What could you possibly have done in your lifetime to piss off a Superhero you've never met before?
For that matter what Superhero is he anyway? You think back at the dark navy suit clinging onto every inch of skin, embellished by that bright angry red in the emblem of a spider.
Spider-man...
Except Spider-man is known to be a swell guy with a great sense of humor. Not a rude asshole.
Aren't his colors inverted too? You pull up the browser on your screen and google "spiderman outfit". There's over 800 million hits. In all of them Spiderman's suit is primarily red with blue embellishment.
Whoever the guy is, you don't think he's your friendly neighborhood Spiderman that every New Yorker knows and loves.
With a hapless sigh, you click aimlessly on your screen, trying to look busy at work for the next twenty minutes until you can go on your lunch break. You go through the motions of your soul sucking tasks. Tagging each insurance claim into one of the following categories: approved/rejected/further missing information required.
Peering over your cubicle wall to the wall of windows, you spy the section that has been zoned off since yesterday. The broken window you were knocked out of has already been replaced, but there's still shattered glass and debris nearby.
Your stomach drops, the phantom sensation of the ground beneath you giving way. For a brief second you swear you can feel the weightlessness of soaring through the skies without anything catching your fall.
You stand up from your desk, solid ground meeting the soles of your feet to remind you where you are.
The office.
There's a monotone drone of workers all around you grumbling and sighing just as unhappily. The quiet tip-tapping of keyboards of the working masses.
Is this the life you managed to escape death for?
Is this it?
It's kind of sad isn't it? You nearly died and lived to tell the tale, only to return to a life so unremarkable your brain didn't deign it necessary to provide you with any highlights (cause there are none).
The most exciting thing that has happened to you the whole of this year was being insulted by a grumpy superhero. The most you've wanted to live was during that span of ten seconds when you were falling out of a building to your death.
You glance at your clock, still 15 minutes before noon. You log out of your desktop anyway.
You barely make it across the street from your office. The light is green as you cross Lexington Avenue when the screeching noise of tires tears down the street and rips through your eardrums.
A yellow taxi hurtles towards you at full speed. Through the car window separating you, the cab driver is staring up at you with wide-eyed horror. In that fraction of a second before the hard metal is going to collide and shatter every bone in your body, you only have one thought: Oh god, this is going to hurt.
Life doesn't flash before your eyes. All you see is the familiar blur of shiny blue and red.
Go figure that's the only moment extraordinary enough for your brain to think it's worth replaying before you die.
There's a blunt and forceful shove to the side of your ribs. Softer than you would've imagined a two tonne vehicle slamming into you would be. It doesn't hurt. It reminds you of that time you played football with your cousin and he body slammed you to the lawn. You've heard about this phenomena, the brain will try to protect itself by going unconscious if the pain is too extreme.
But there's no bright light, when you open your eyes all you see is the familiar shiny blue fabric.
A firm weight wraps around your shoulders, and you recognize this, the feeling of being held as you're pulled into their solid chest. There's not enough time for you to look up, you're slammed onto the ground, the solid warmth wrapped around you, absorbing the fall.
The pressure wrapped around you shifts then lifts away entirely. When you open your eyes for a second time, there’s no one there holding you.
There's no one else there with you. Just the standstill traffic of cars and pedestrians gawking at you.
A concerned woman runs over to you, bending down to help you up on your feet. "Are you okay? That car came out of nowhere."
Your legs feel unsteady, wobbling as you put weight on it to stand up.
“I’m fine, I think,” you respond, and look down on yourself. There are no scrapes, just a bit of dust on your work-attire from traffic.
"You're so lucky, Spiderman was there to save you."
You blink up at the woman in dazed confusion and it takes your brain a few seconds to process what she's telling you.
Spider-man...
In your mind's eye the flashes of blue and a vivid red invades your vision. It wasn't just your life flashing you by. Not just a figment of your imagination.
He was here. He saved you. (Probably not) Spider-man saved you (again).
A wave of gratitude washes over you. You take back every unflattering thought you had about the man not five minutes ago. Rude? Would a rude man save you, not once but twice in one day? No, of course not, you probably just misunderstood him, or misheard. After all, if he truly regretted saving you, he wouldn't have done it a second time... right?
--
When you get back at your desk, there's a post-it tacked to your computer screen, with an angry scrawl of a handwriting.
'Look BOTH ways before crossing!!!!!'
You stare at the note, and the way the word "both" is capitalized and aggressively underlined.
Rude.
The universe is out to kill you. You're sure of it.
They say that death comes in threes after all. So no one can blame you for being a little bit on the edge after you've gone two for two within the time span of 24 hours.
You stay away from windows in tall buildings. You look both ways, twice, before crossing the street. You try to go straight home from work the minute you clock out from work, turning down any and all initiations with friends to go out after out of precaution. It's just not worth the risk.
And for a while it seems to work. For a while, there are no more incidents. A week goes by and your nerves start to settle and you are lulled into a temporary sense of security before it all goes to shits.
A ceramic flower pot on a windowsill tumbling off the sixth floor of a brown house by Chelsea that would have dropped on your head and split your skull if someone hadn't bumped into you from behind that you weren’t able to catch sight of.
A piece of scaffolding that comes loose and falls from a construction site in West Village as you happened to walk past, and would have been crushed under if you weren’t tackled away at the last second by someone who fled the scene before you could thank them.
A hot dog cart runs amok, hurtling downhill towards you between 184th and 190th street in Manhattan when the cart suddenly out of nowhere, against the very laws of physics like it’s being pulled by an invisible force and changes direction mere inches in front of you, hurtling through the air and crashing into the windows of a bodega instead.
Each and every incident leaves you with an ever growing sense of paranoia that this cannot be explained away by being merely pure bad luck. There are cosmic forces at force that clearly want you dead.
On Thursday, there are leftover cupcakes from a client conference. Mary, the secretary in your team, boxes up four of them for you and tells you to take them with you, because, "you've had a rough week, toots."
It’s not a flattering assessment of you, but when you see your own reflection in the mirrors of the office toilets, you can’t help but think it’s an accurate one. You look rough. Eyes bloodshot with deep furrowed lines underneath. Your face is gaunter than you remember seeing it too.
You take the cupcakes.
It's the first good thing that has happened to you all week, and as small of a comfort it is, you take it as a win.
You eye the box from your desk the rest of the day, squirreled away in your tiny cubicle. You are determined not to eat one while at work. Because you'll be damned if Matt from accounting catches a whiff of your cupcakes and asks you to share one with him. You want to properly savor them in the comfort of your home at the end of the day.
But as often is the case when you have something to look forward to, the seconds, minutes and hours tick away with a reluctant drag as if time itself knew you wanted the day to end faster and decided it'd be fun to flip yet another cosmic middle finger in your direction.
When it's finally time to end work, you get off your chair so forcefully it knocks it to the floor. You are practically jogging through the lanes of cubicles to get to the elevator, and nearly smack the security guard on the other side with how hard you swing open the front door.
It's pouring outside, which, of course it is. You take off your jacket and cover your cupcake box with it, because you're not going to let the universe ruin the one good thing you've got going for you this week, as you run towards the station.
The moment you step into the damp and sticky station any remaining sense of joy in you evaporates. There's a hoard of tourists swarming the subway paying no attention to their surroundings. Tourists wearing their caps and backpacks and wheelies knocking over a 'Caution Wet Floor ' sign as they gather in a throng in front of the subway map, blocking the way as you hear the train approach.
It's not that big of a deal. A train comes every two to five minutes, and if you miss this one, you'll just get on the next one. It's not the end of the world. Logically, you know that. Emotionally and spiritually however, the world around you has just taken a little bit too much from you for you to concede to this minor little loss.
You are going to make this goddamned train.
Taking a determined step forward, you shoulder and push your way through the throng of people to fight your way to the front of the track.
You push a little too hard. Your feet skid across the slippery tiles, leg buckling from your own weight and you lose control, tumbling forward.
In your peripheral view there's a blinding light approaching. There's wind beating the sides of your face, and you can hear the screeching metal of the train right next to you. Your foot drops into empty space and you are falling into the tracks.
Oh god why...
Why?
You just want to live.
The cupcake box flies out of your grip, splattered somewhere across the front pane of the train. There's a hard tug on your shirt as an invisible force you cannot see yanks you back, hard.
Your head whips back and for a fraction of a second, there are crimson eyes staring back down at you, you blink and then it's gone.
You land on your ass with a bruising force to your tailbone with a bone-breaking thud. The subway whizzes by with a demonic roar past you, inches from where you're sprawled on your ass on the dirty tiles of the subway station.
In front of your feet, there's a long streak of white frosting trailing down from your feet to the tracks of what looks like a crime scene.
Maybe it's the stress. Maybe you've just had a bad night of sleep (after many successive bad nights with little to no sleep). But something in you breaks at the sight of the frosting smeared across the dirty subway tiles.
Your eyes sting with exhaustion. Chest drawing in tight with a crumbling ache that makes you want to curl up on the cold tiles. You're just so tired.
There are people around you staring at you. No one in their right mind who lives in New York would sit on the floor of the subway.
But your legs are heavy and numb. You can’t move from the spot. Everything tastes like bile. You try to swallow and force it back down but it's no use, your throat has swollen shut. Your cheeks run wet and you press your palms to your eyes to make it stop but that only seems to make it worse. Snot runs down your nose and drips down your wrist. You're crying and you don't know how to stop.
Is this the rest of your life?
In the morning, you wake in your bed with a sore ache that gnaws at your bones. Swollen eyes and a soreness that scratches the lining of your throat.
Your back hurts, and as you try to turn to your side to get out of bed a sharp pain surges up along your entire spine.
Fuck.
It's too bright. The sunlight is offensive. It stings your eyes and makes you sick to your stomach. You only have vague memories of how you made it back home. Feet shuffling through the subway in a daze like the walking dead.
God is that what you are? A dead man woman walking?
You crane your head and catch a glimpse of your clock on the bedside table. 9.13 You're late for work. But that's mind as well, you don't have it in you to make it in.
What's the point anyhow? You hate that place.
Besides, if the subway on the way over doesn't finish off the job this time around, then eventually a taxi will. Failing that the universe is probably going to send over a ninja assassin rat from the subway to come after your life.
There's a soft breeze coming in from the open window that grazes the back of your neck and you turn your head towards it. All you can see from your window is the brick wall of the neighboring building. Even though your apartment is on the sixth floor, you can't see a speck of the New York skyline.
Still the breeze is nice, though you don't remember opening the window last night. You never usually do. It is silly and paranoid. No human robber could possibly climb up your six storey building just to climb into your window and rob you. If they could, they’d find that there isn’t much to rob in your apartment, the most valuable thing you own is a complete Le Creuset Cookware set.
Your eyes glaze over your work tote bag on the floor next to the window, drifting upwards and spot the pink box sat on the window sill and you stop.
You didn’t put that there.
You sit upright in your bed, setting your feet to the floor and force yourself to leave your bed as you pad over to the open window.
It's a fancy looking thing. Baby pink, and chiffon ribbon on its side. Wrapping your pinkie around it, you tug it loose. You perch your thumb against the corner of the lid when you stop.
It's not another one of the universe's assassination attempts is it? You're not going to open it to find a bomb ticking down are you?
You hesitate for another moment, taking a deep calming breath before you gather the courage to finally lift the lid. Inside, there is a gorgeous display of cupcakes adorned with white and pink frosting, topped with strawberries, chocolate shavings and on two of them there's mini macarons.
Way fancier than the day old Costco cupcakes you'd lost yesterday.
Picking up one, you take a bite. The frosting is light and zesty. The refreshing lemon melts on the tip of your tongue as the buttery cream floods your mouth with the rich flavor. It's the best thing you've ever tasted.
Lifting the box, you check the sides of it to see if there's any note left behind, but there's none.
Gladis Bakery. It's from a bakery you've never heard of before. When you google the name the place is outside of New Jersey, 58 minutes away and you would need to take a subway then switch to a tram.
There's no note attached, but you don't need one. The list of candidates who would be physically able to climb up six floors up the bricks of your apartment building to leave cupcakes on your window isn’t a long one.
Something warm blooms in your chest at the thought, and your fingers linger on the top of the box, savoring the taste of lemon and sugar still lingering on your tongue.
You put your head out the window, not sure what you're expecting to find but find yourself disappointed all the same when there's nothing there. No people in the quiet street below, and nothing unusual above.
"Thank you for uhm... saving me,” you say into the silence with nothing but the traffic noise below to answer you.
“And the cupcakes," you add.
There's no reply.

8/26/23.
Anna Hillburg has been a fixture of the San Francisco music scene for well over a decade. She often lends her trumpet skills to friend's bands or recordings. But Hillburg has an impressive solo catalogue as well. "Tired Girls" is her 3rd album and first for Speakeasy Studios SF (we've previously posted about The Softies + Tony Molina and The Lost Days).
Yea Ming Chen plays a catchy piano line throughout "Holdin' On" - the only song currently available. Hillburg has played in Yea Ming Chen's band, but also played with Chen in the incredible Bay Area band Dreamdate - which I bought years before I started the blog.
Jason Quevers (Papercuts) recorded this and Mikey Young mastered it.
