Hello! So I have this request. Imagine Tommy has a daughter who's very cocky and isn't afraid to argue with anyone. It doesn't matter if you're 2 or 50, and she's her to be a teenager. ( preferably 13 ) If you can, and want to, of course. ( this is my first time asking for a request, and I'm so nervous, Idek why )
Hey Love,
This request is awesome! Thanks for trusting me with it! Hope you enjoy!!

Tommy felt his vision start to swim and the words on the phone became inaudible. The man hung up the phone and he knew he needed to move. These feelings uncovered old wounds. That time he had to rescue Charlie when he was just a small boy. He got one kid back and he could do it again.
He pulled himself together and immediately without thought sought out Arthur who was sitting at his desk reading the paper.
“He’s taken her hostage.” The words barely made it out of Tommy's mouth.
“Told you that would happen,” Arthur grumbled but Tommy could see the pain and fear in his eyes. “JOHNNY!” Arthur called out over his shoulder into the back room.
“Again!” John said running his hand through his hair. “Fuck.”

You were not very comfortable in the trunk of the car. Something you felt your capture needed to understand. They had not taken your criticism and had begun to ignore you.
You weren't entirely sure they could hear you up front with the engine turned on and everything. If there was a small chance they could hear you, you were going to take it.
You started singing God Save the King at an ungodly volume. Why that song? You didn't know. But you were sure it would annoy the piss out of anyone in earshot.
You mentally counted every turn the car took. Trying to make a map of how to get back to school, back to safety. You sang so loud your lungs and throat burned.
Eventually, the car came to an abrupt stop. Clearly done so your body would roll around in the trunk. You let out a little scream then lay still.
Somewhere in your mind, you realized they could have driven to the river. Maybe they would open the trunk and shoot you immediately then dump your body.
Jesus and the last song you would have been singing was God Save the King. Fuck, that’s not how you wanted things to end.
The trunk opened and thankfully no one had any weapons drawn. The men looked weathered though you were happy to see they were enjoying your company.
“Who the fuck taught you to drive.” You looked at the man with the keys in his hand. “Jesus Christ you suck.”
“Look here you little twerp. Shut your mouth.” He grabbed your arm shaking your whole frame. “And keep it shut. Tight.”
You felt that lovely sense of rage cloud all of your senses and leaned into the man's face. Your eyes were wide and you knew that he knew just where those icy blue orbs came from.
“Make me.” You said softly. You could feel the discomfort run through the man. He didn’t want to be here, he was holding you for ransom no doubt. The reluctance to follow through with any violence was clear in his features. He gave the man next to him a look.
“Get her in the fucking building.” The other man ordered avoiding your gaze. They moved you into the abandoned warehouse and sat you on a chair.
“Look at the two of you!” You said as they bound your body with rope. “Real classy people. I’m sure your mothers are very proud.”
The man rolled his eyes.
“Stuck with a couple of real winners.” You could see the man's jaw tick and you decided to simmer down a little. You needed to think up a plan.
“So do you believe in God then?” You asked and he sat down in the chair across from you. A bright light turned on overhead and you realized with a spark in your eye that they were going to interrogate you.
“I’ll be asking the questions here.” The man said in a sturdy voice.
“That hardly seems like fun. I’ll trade you a question for a question. How bout that?” The man sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Told you we should have taken the boy instead.” The man standing in the shadows said.
“Charlie. Great man. Great brother. You want to know why he is such an excellent -”
“No. What I want to know is why your dad stole from Mr. Crowe.”
“Mr. Crowe, he sounds ominous. If I were writing a book I’d definitely make him the villain.” You tried to look around at all the exits. “What did my dad steal?”
“Money and a shipment of drugs headed for New York.”
“Doesn't sound like my dad. He’s a politician, a man of the government.” You explained. “Have you ever been to New York?”
The man slapped his hand down on the table next to him. You wanted to avoid listening to more boring threats so you plowed on.
“I have thought about going to New York, but America seems so dull. Their art is sooo boring. Do you like art?” You asked him honestly.
“No.”
“Really? You strike me as a man of higher education.” You smiled like a cat. “Surely there must be an artist or era you like. Everyone likes art.”
“Shut up.” He growled. “Just shut up.”
“Well, I don't know if you know this, but I just turned 13. You know what that means?” You looked at both men. “Means dating, and while I’m here I might as well practice small talk.”
Both men let out a groan and one of them came over and landed a blow across your cheek. You could feel the fear radiating off of him as if God himself had told him what the cost of hitting one of Thomas Shelby’s kids was.
“My aunt hits harder.” You sneered. “Now you're not art people, that’s fine. How do you feel about sports then? You gamble?” You prattled on. Even if they did kill you, you wanted the satisfaction of annoying them.
________________________________________________________
Tommy negotiated with the man, sending him to an empty shipping yard. He didn't steal any drugs or money. Stuff like that was so far behind him that it was almost laughable. His daughter being held captive was not laughable.
Alfie came up from London to storm the building with him. Alfie’s extra men went with Arthur and John to ambush the men going to the shipping yard. The whole thing was unbelievably stupid on Mr. Crowe’s part but he would meet the consequences nonetheless.
As they parked outside the warehouse Tommy painfully waited until the rest of the men had the building surrounded. He knew better than to run head-first into traps these days.
“No, see that’s where you're wrong. The issue is far more complicated than workers' rights. The aspect of the government being heavily involved in the lives of the people -”
He followed the sound of your voice and found you tied to a chair with a large white light shining down on you. Two men looked possibly exhausted and frustrated. She prattled on about her views on Communism and shot down their defenses easily.
“Not to late to leave her here mate.” Alfie joked and Tommy gave him an icy glare. He watched your eyes dart towards where they stood in the shadows. He saw the bruise forming on your cheek.
Alfie wasn't in a joking mood anymore.
“Boys I hate to change the subject as we were getting close to some interesting ideas. But we should move this back to religion. If you have one, I think you should make your peace.” They gave her a confused look.
Tommy watched as Alfie went to untie you letting him start to have his way with the two men.
______________________________________
“Put me down.” You growled. Alfie placed you down on the wet concrete in front of the building.
“Not exactly a warm welcome.” He said looking at your cheek with anger in his eyes.
“You suggested leaving me there!”
“I just put 100 men on this mission to get you back, love. Leaving you there wasnt an option.” He answered easily
“Then why did you say it.” Your eyes narrowed at him. He was your favorite person to argue with other than your dad.
“I just thought it was funny that even when kidnapped you don't shut up.”
“Do you want me to shut up?” A slight bit of hurt washed into your tone.
“You wouldn't be my favorite niece if you did.” He ruffled the hair on your head and you were grateful he helped your dad.
________________
“So I started a re-read of the old testament.”
He let out a groan.
Lizzie cried and threw her arms around you when you walked into the front door. You fought back your own tears as the reality of the situation hit you. Her embrace melted away all the anger that held you together.
It was just you and her as your dad had to make phone calls to sort out the rest of the conflict. The tears started and she helped you upstairs to your room.
“I just argued the whole time. I don't know why I’m crying now.” You tried to wipe your tears on the back of your hand.
“Because you're still a girl at the end of the day.” Lizzie shrugged and helped you get into the bath.
“Well, it’s stupid and I am not stupid.” You said trying again to stop the tears.
“Darling, there is nothing stupid about your ability to feel. It’s what makes you exceptional.” She placed your robe and pajamas on the counter before leaving to give you some space.
You got yourself sorted and were happy that the house was mostly empty. You stuffed yourself between your parents on the couch in the study.
Your dad’s arm wrapped around you and you felt him hold on to you tightly.

1895 - A rainy day
A/N: To clear any confusion:
Annie is a Shelby- sister- OC and she is the second oldest.
I named the Shelby-mom Kathie, after one of John’s daughters, because the Shelby’s are known for reusing names ( Arthur, Charlie).
Ages in this one-shot:
Arthur – 8
Annie – 7
Tommy – 5
Also, the obligatory warning, that English isn’t my first language.
This is cross posted on AO3

The three Shelby siblings had been cooped up inside the small house all day because it had been heavily raining since the night before. And just like the grey outside of Birmingham, the children’s moods had equally been dampened.
Jack, a close friend of Arthur and Annie, had gotten a new ball for his birthday the day before and he had promised to play with them today. He had even invited Tommy to come along, which had the boy in an especially bad mood. Because lately his two older siblings liked to exclude him from their adventures and Tommy jumped for every opportunity to tag along.
No amount of reassurance from their mother, that tomorrow the clouds would clear, and they could play then, seemed to lift their bad moods. So, the siblings all decided to do their own things, not forgetting to put on a sad face when their mother looked in their directions, in hopes she would take pity on them and let them go out anyways.
Tommy was quietly playing with a wooden horse under the dining table. A big contrast to his usually loud laughter. Arthur and Annie were sitting on the table with Arthur drawing horses that looked better and better every day and Annie using the quite to read a book, her teacher had lent her.
The only things breaking the quite from time to time were the small sounds Tommy made while playing and Annie occasionally asking for help reading a word, she didn’t know jet.
Setting the bedsheets, she was folding aside, she made her way downstairs, where the cries got louder, and she could now hear Arthur, who tried to shush his younger brother – telling him to be quite and that everything was ok.
Their mother, heavily pregnant with child number four, used the down time to get some housework done, despite Polly telling her to take it easy. Her sister-in-law – despite being only elven – had warned her, that the child would be born early, and that Kathie should rest as much as possible. And while she trusted Polly’s judgement – the girl had a neck for these kinds of things – Kathie couldn’t not work. Because if Polly was right, she would need to be prepared. The brunette had predicted another boy, and with the number of kicks Kathie received from the baby every day since the beginning of her third trimester, she knew that she was going to have a troublemaker on her hands.
Kathie was upstairs folding the laundry when she suddenly heard a loud crash from downstairs, followed by who she assumed was Tommy crying out for her. A big sigh left her. Of course, the quite wouldn’t last long, not with three bored children.
Standing on the last step, overseeing the mess and trying to piece together what had happened, Kathie could only shake her head. One of the dining chairs was lying on the floor, Tommy sitting right next to it with Annie trying to soothe the crying boy. Arthur, who hadn’t heard her come down the stairs, was standing with his back to her, still trying to get Tommy to calm down.
“What happened?” Kathie asked and scaring Arthur, who flinched and slowly turned around, averting his eyes and looking at the ground. Tommy jumped up and ran to her, hugging her legs, and burying his face in her side. She ran her fingers through his dark hair, noticing how long it had gotten again. He would need a new haircut soon, Arthur too.
“And what have I told you about playing in the house?”
Raising one eyebrow at her oldest son, she repeated her question. But Annie was the one answering instead.
“We were just playing mum. It was Tommy’s idea to play catch.”
“No running…”
With another shake of the head, Kathie went over to the table and sat down on one of the chairs, letting Tommy crawl on her lap. He had stopped crying by now, resting both of his little hands on his mother’s swollen belly. While Annie picked up the fallen chair and slide it back under the table again, Arthur had walked over to his mother, eyes still trained on the ground, refusing to look her in the face
“I’m sorry mum, didn’t mean for Tommy to get hurt.” His voice was small, riddled with guilt.
She couldn’t help but remember a very similar day from years ago when Arthur and Annie had still been toddlers and Tommy had just been born. The two had been peacefully playing together while she nursed the baby and from one moment to the next seemingly all hell broke loose. The sound of someone hitting the floor was followed by a sharp cry. One of those with the big intakes of breath in in between , the one where you knew it was bad. And of course, the noise had startled Tommy out of his sleepiness, and he had joined his sister with the crying. She then not only had a crying toddler and a crying baby on her hands, walking in the room to see what had happened, she also had a crying Arthur to calm down. With all the crying, Kathie too had felt like crying. Her husband had, like always, been off who knows where, leaving her to care for the children and in moments like these, she felt very alone and overwhelmed.
“I know love, but I’m not the one you have to apologize to.”
Kathie put one hand to Arthur’s face, gently lifting it, so he was finally looking her in the eyes. Her heart broke a little when she saw the unshed tears. Arthur was a good boy, a little wild at times but also very sensitive. He hated hurting someone. Especially his siblings.
Back then Kathie had sworn to herself, that three children would be enough, and that she would not be able to handle more. But the pain in her back and her aching feet reminded her of the broken promise. And she had the feeling, that baby number four would not be the last either.
“It’s ok, Arthur. I forgive you!” Tommy gave his older brother one of his big toothy smiles, climbed of his mother’s lap to hug Arthur. The older boy eagerly returned the hug. Annie, standing now next to her siblings, offered an apology as well and was pulled into the arms of her brothers.
Kathie couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t easy, taking care of the children, having to worry about food and clothing and whether they could pay rent this month or not, but witnessing moments like these always made it worth.
“Who wants to help me prepare dinner?”
So, when she finally made her way upstairs to tell the children a goodnight story, she found them all already in the bed they shared, cuddled together and soundly sleeping. Annie, lying in the middle with one brother on either side of her, was still holding the book she clearly used to read them all to sleep with. It was the same one she had read earlier that day.
A chorus of “ME!” ’s and “I want to!” ’s followed and together with the kids, dinner was prepared just so that Arthur came home when Annie finished setting up the table. Kathie welcomed her husband with a kiss, and he returned the affection while placing one hand on her swollen belly. Rubbing the children’s hairs when he passed them on the way to the dining table.
After dinner, Arthur had left for the pub – there was barely a day he didn’t spend as much time as possible away from home – and Kathie had sent the children upstairs to get ready for bed. But for once there was no complaining about having to go to bed or asking to stay up longer. Maybe the children could sense how tiered she was, that after she would finish cleaning the dishes there would be nothing, she would rather want then to go to bed herself.
The picture of her sleeping children warmed Kathie’s heart. She was so full of love for them. And cradling her swollen belly, she knew, that the new addition to the family would fit right in with the rest of them.
Quietly making her way into the room, she gently took the book out of her daughters’ hands and placed it on the bedside table. She would have wanted to place a kiss on each of her children’s heads, but her round belly made it impossible for her to bend over. So instead, she just whispered a good night and wished them sweet dreams before quietly closing the door behind her and finally going to bed herself. Falling asleep to the calming sound of the rain outside.

There were a lot of things you kept to yourself when it came to your father. Most of which Esme and Polly would wrangle out of you and give you advice for.
You were close with each other the same way you suspected other fathers and daughters were. He was there to comfort you in his own way (mostly just holding you tightly) when you needed him, he gave you books to read and would try to remember to ask you questions about how you enjoyed them.
He was away a lot for business but he always called you before bed to ask how your day was. Some moments when he’d drank to much you saw the pain in his eyes when he looked at you, a spitting image of your mother but with his eyes.
You adored him, and rarely ever asked him for difficult things knowing he was always stressed.
“Awe, you miss us, don't you? Next time we go you’ll be old enough to tag along. An extra week won't kill you darling.” Esme’s voice rang out over the phone and your stomach sank. You were in a proper situation now. You said your goodbyes but didn't tell her why her taking an extra week's vacation with Pol was a problem for you.
You lit a cigarette and slid down the kitchen wall. They would be home the day of the big charity ball, not the type of event you could get a dress for the morning of. They must have forgotten that they’d promised to take you when they got back. You didn't blame them, this was the one time they got away from kids and the business.
You could ask… Lizzie? She hung around the family, worked for your dad, and seemed nice enough to you when you came by the office. She’d probably be able to help you.
You needed a backup plan, Linda still hadn’t forgiven you for an outburst you’d had at dinner a few weeks ago, but maybe John would help you?
You thought about getting ready with Esme he’d always tell her what looked good. Well, mostly how he enjoyed the way it looked on her, but still Esme always looked very happy with his commentary.
You got up and flicked your cigarette out the window before going to ask for a ride to the office.
You showed up and Lizzie greeted you with a large smile.
“Here to see your dad are you?”
“Well, I was actually - I -” The words got caught in your throat, she was far too pretty. Thinking of her seeing your awkward body in dresses made you shrink away. “Have you seen Uncle John?” You said quickly.
“Should be in his office.” She gave you a look and you thanked her. You knocked on the door and his voice called out.
“Hey kiddo,” he said looking up from a mess of papers. “Your da’s got me right tangled in this stupid paperwork. Give him a kick in the shin when you see him next will ya.”
“Sure.” You laughed. “Guess you're pretty busy then?”
“Be lucky if we survive another week with the hens gone.” He sighed, there was no way he’d be out of this mess any time soon, but maybe he could just tell you what to wear.
“What erm- What types of things does Esme wear that you like?” He looked confused by the question.
“Trying to impress a lad then? Odd person to come to for advice on that.” He scratched the back of his head but before you could fix what you said he’d already carried on.
“Look if he doesn't like you as you are then there's no point in going after him. Gal’s seem to think we care about all the fuss when really - we’re going to see eve-”
“What are you doing, love?” Your father's voice called from the doorway. Happier than ever to see him you sprang up from your seat and moved to give him a hug. Jarred by what you figured John was implying you decided to just pluck up the courage to ask him to go.
“Get that shit done John, needs to be out by tomorrow morning,” John swore at him and you followed your father out of the room his arm steering you into his office.
“What did you need from John?” He asked moving behind his desk.
“Well, I didn't want to bother you.”
“Trust me, love if it's worth asking, it’s not worthy of Johns's advice.”
“Ah, well, I need a dress for the ball.” You stated, and he gave you a curious look. “Um, well it's my first time really going, for the dinner and dancing and everything.” You coughed awkwardly. For a moment you hoped that he would just understand where this was going and tell you he’d help you, but you looked at his face and knew he was lost as ever.
“SO” you said a little too loudly. “I erm - need to get a proper dress, Polly and Esme said they would take me but they won't be back in time.”
You brought your gaze from the wallpaper once more to still see him still looking confused.
“You can have any dress you want, just give me the receipt.” He shrugged.
‘No- I erm. I just- need someone to go with me.” You confessed sounding irritated. “I don't know what looks good - I’m not good at that type of stuff. John always tells Esme what he thinks about her dresses when we get ready so I figured he would be a good person to ask.”
“I’ll take you.” He said uncomfortably. “We can go after-” He looked down at his schedule. “Can it wait till after dinner?”
“Oh, yeah - thanks”
“No problem,” He said with a nod looking only slightly put off.
“I’ll head back to the house -”
“I’ll grab you at 7”
You gave him a nod and then left the office saying bye to Lizzie.
Dinner was nice, you rarely ever went out to eat. You rambled on about a book you were reading and your dad followed along. Eventually, you started to tuck into your meal and he sighed.
“So there's a boy then?” He asked looking pained.
“No?” You said startled with a mouth full of mashed potatoes.
“No?” Tommy repeated looking at you with the look he gave when he felt you were lying. As a kid, you thought he had superpowers and could see in your mind.
“No” You shook your head grabbing your glass of water.
“John mentioned -”
“He didn't understand what I was asking. Don't need to be interested in a boy just because I don't want to show up in front of all those people wearing something embarrassing.” You said defensively, face flushing.
Tommy let out a hum and finished the last of his drink. Your last comment seemed to put him off even more.
You finished up dinner and then headed to a fancy-looking shop. The sign on the door said closed but you followed behind your dad as he pushed the door open.
The lady barely took notice of you as she shook your dad's hand, ensuring she would take care of anything he needs. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes as she touched his arm.
He turned to you “alright free rein of the place, go pick some out that you like. I’ll start on this side.”
You almost wanted to laugh as if it was a joke but your father moved passed the woman and started on the far wall. She looked over your body and began pointing out some to try on.
You thought about her suggestions and said you would try them to be polite. If you turned up looking like a frosted cupcake Esme would never let you hear the end of it.
You moved to the long dresses and found a nice dark red one. It was a shimmery fabric but it was dark enough that it wouldn't bring too much attention. You had a feeling that it was the right one, but with the lower neckline you felt it might be a fight to take it home. You decided it was worth it and asked the woman to take it to the dressing room for you.
You found another few that you liked well enough, all of them were black and made of various materials.
You met back up with your dad in the lounge and saw him sipping another glass of amber liquid, a cigarette in his hand. He met your gaze and held his hands up in mock surrender.
“Wasnt much help out in the field but it’s only because I have faith in your abilities.”
You gave him a smile, happy to see him in better spirits. You put the first one on and hated it immediately. It was much too tight and it would be impossible to dance in.
“Not very practical.” You waddled out and you watched him point back to the dressing room sternly. “Alrighty then,” you murmured feeling embarrassed.
You tried the cupcake one on next and fought to work up the courage to walk out in it. You struggled to get it through the doorway and your father actually laughed.
A proper healthy loud laugh that was contagious.
“I feel like Esme would take the piss for ages if I wore this.” You looked yourself over in the mirror.
“Not just Esme. Didn’t think it would be possible to make you look anything less than gorgeous. In that line of thinking it might not be so bad after all. Don’t want this mystery boy enjoying himself too much.”
“Dad!” You snapped before fighting back into the dressing room. “There is no boy.”
“If you say so.”
You wore one of the black ones next. You walked out feeling comfortable, you thought the black would go with any jewelry and looked classy.
You looked at your dad and his face twisted slightly.
“No black.” His tone of voice took you off guard.
“Why not? You’ll be wearing black?” you asked trying not to get worked up.
“No black.” He said firmly and you knew better than to challenge him when he sounded like that.
You went back into the room.
“Ah - that leaves one left.”
“Give it a go,” he called back.
You pulled on the red one and loved it instantly. It was grown up, hugging you in all the right spots without showing too much skin. The color made your blue eyes seem electric.
You liked it so much you didn't want to show it. What if he hated it as much as the black dress? Or thought it was stupid like the pink one.
You took a deep breath and called out. “Don’t be mean.” Then stepped out.
You looked at the mirror avoiding your father. It looked even better in the lighting. Eventually, the silence was too much.
You watched him take the dress in and thought you saw tears in his eyes. You wanted to run back and hide. Why was he being so weird? Even if there was a boy, it’s not uncommon at this age. Heck, most of Esme’s sisters were married by 16.
“That’s the one eh?” He finally said looking at you.
“Yeah. Think I look grown up, but not to - erm-  showy”
“Grown up, is one way to put it.” He finished his drink and smiled at you. “I think you look lovely. Your mother has a necklace that will match with the color” He said softly. “-if you want to wear it.” He added hurriedly. For a long time, he thought her things might have been cursed, until one day he came home from a very long trip and said it was him that was cursed. You shivered remembering that night. You always avoided touching her things, her room untouched but not forgotten.
“I would really like that.” You said feeling emotional, you realized that the panic was about wanting to look nice, but some of it was anger that your mother was not there to help you. “Did she wear this color then?”
“Always red.” He nodded.
“Ah - well, I can see why.” You looked back in the mirror.
“Look - I know this sort of thing would have been more fun with Pol or Esme- and you probably miss your mum a lot these days. Lots of changes and whatnot.” He waved his hand uncomfortably. “But - well, I enjoyed this. I don’t mind being around for this stuff. I wouldn't have liked you more as a boy or anything like that” He cleared his throat.
Tears started to spill over something you hadn't even realized you were worried about.
“I love you.” You said. Felt strange standing on a platform saying it down to him as a saleswoman was probably judging them from the shadows somewhere.
“Love you too.”
On the ride home you both made jokes about different things, Arthur and John weren't very good at taking over for Pol and Esme and you enjoyed your dad’s commentary about trying to keep the place running.
When things quieted down you finally felt that you needed to end this boy nonsense.
“Dad?” You asked wondering how he kept the car straight while fumbling with getting a cigarette out and lighting it.
“Yeah?”
“There really isn't a boy, if there was John is the last person I would ask. One time he picked me up from school, years ago, and a boy, Tim Weatherby, had waved to me. He ran his car into the back of his parent's car three times before driving off.”
You watched your father let out another laugh. “Always classy.”
“I’d tell you first obviously. Esme would get too excited, and Pol would worry.”
“And what would I do then Eh?” He asked raising an eyebrow.
Probably meet him and scare his pants off.” You answered honestly.
“That’s a good thing then?”
“Obviously. If he comes back it's because he really likes me.”

EXTRA - Tommy's POV
Watching her walk out in a black dress made the fleeting moments of humor leave him. He sort of saw her in the gown but his mind flashed back to that scared little girl all dressed in black.
“No black.” He said slightly out of control of the feelings biting into him.
“Why not? You’ll be wearing black?” He could see that you wanted to argue but he couldn't stand to see you in that dress any longer.
“No black.” He said firmly and you looked a bit deflated before retreating back to the dressing room. His mind pulled him back to that day. You attached firmly to his side, dressed in all black. The way you tried so hard to behave, tucking your face into his neck to cry as they lit the vardo on fire. How you even tried to hit Polly when she tried to take you from him. How you would panic if he was out of your sight for more than a few minutes.
No black. He ran his fingers through his hair.
The next dress hurt nearly as bad. Tears he had not cried in years welled up in his eyes as he looked at you taking in your body in the mirror.
So much like your mother, the style of the dress, the color. You were going to be an adult in a blink of an eye. Only small traces of that little girl left in your features. Now there would be boys and time left with it being just the two of you would start to slip away.
He thought the dress was much too showy, you didn't understand that yet though. Considering you would be standing next to him the whole night he figured it would be alright. You could pair it with your mother's jewelry and he could get Pol to convince you to wear it with a shall or something.
Eventually, your eyes looked at him for approval and he felt guilty for snapping at you. There was a very evident look of self-consciousness on your features. He wished it came more naturally to him.
