birth year of ASOIAF characters if AGOT took place in 2025:
a lot of the characters in ASOIAF were aged up for the show (with good reason in a lot of cases) but one thing that always strikes me about the books is how YOUNG most of them are.
so here are what their birth years would be if the books started in 2025 (pretend their birthday this year already happened).
this based on ages in AGOT- if we meet the character later I added a year or so depending on the book (also I split groups by decades for ease of reading).
Aemon: 1926
Tywin: 1970
Jorah: 1985
Davos (if ACOK is 2026) and Oberyn (if ASOS is 2026): 1986
Robert Baratheon: 1989
Ned: 1990
Stannis: 1991
Catelyn: 1992
Jaime, Cersei, and Lysa: 1994
Drogo: 1995
Littlefinger: 1996
Sandor: 1998
Tyrion: 2001
Viserys and Renly: 2004
Theon: 2006
Shae and Brienne (if ACOK is 2026): 2007
Loras: 2009
Jon, Robb, Samwell, and Margaery: 2011
Daenerys, Joffrey, and Meera (if ACOK is 2026): 2012
Sansa: 2014
Jojun (if ACOK is 2026): 2015
Arya: 2016
Bran and Myrcella: 2018
Tommon: 2019
Robert Arryn: 2020
Rickon: 2023
please comment if I got anything wrong/forgot anyone! (characters whose ages are too ambiguous I didn't include)

ASOIAF OC Teresa Baratheon Notes
Tumblr media
A/N: The youtube algorithm is once again feeding me ASOIAF content and I am once again back on the bullshit. Technically I've had her in my back pocket for a while, but I figured I'd share anyway.
She is the first born daughter of Robert and Cersei and Robert's only true born heir
She has the Baratheon features save for her eyes that seem to shift between green and blue depending on the light
Strong and willful, she is in many ways Robert's clear favorite, but due to her limitations of her gender that attention wavers as she gets older
"I am, by the laws of succession, a third son. Why can I not live my life as one?"
She has put off marriage for a considerable time; her father would have her marry Robb Stark while her mother would keep her south, possibly forming an alliance with the Tyrells through a marriage to Willas.
Taking some inspiration from Beatrice from Much Ado about Nothing, "so deliver I up my apes, and away to Saint Peter for the heavens; he shows me where the bachelors sit, and there live we as merry as the day is long" is basically how she would ideally live her life
However, she is an eldest daughter and while she has put off marriage for a time it is coming for her
She does go North with her family to Winterfell, Robert's hope that seeing Ned's eldest will convince her of the match; she admits she likes him, but is still weary of marriage
Robert still wants the houses of Baratheon and Stark bond together and so goes with the plan to marry Sansa and Joffrey, which is just as well as
Now there are a couple of options from here
Ned gives Cersei warning of him knowing the truth of her and Jaime's bastards; he'd also put together that Teresa is Robert's only true born, even though she is still a girl, she is, by the laws the Westeros, heir to the Iron Throne
As a result, I do think he would tell Teresa especially after Robert is mortally wounded by the boar
Renly would not support her claim and escapes quickly to Storm's End
Teresa would also be hesitant to act, she may despise Joffrey and she and her mother have had an adversarial relationship at best, they are still her family.
The question I keep going back and forth on is whether she'd trust her mother not to harm her or doubt enough to flee.
I'm also unsure if Cersei would actually harm Teresa
Teresa may be Robert's, but she is still *her* daughter, and Cersei's narcissistic possession of her own children could end up being the thing that saves her
On the other hand Teresa is more defiant than Tommon or Marcella, not to mention a direct threat to Joffrey's claim and her own security as her very existence puts her adultery on display
Either way, Teresa would need to escape King's Landing, and with her uncle Renly gone and the Lannister's against her, she'd likely try to escape to Dragonstone to meet her Uncle Stannis and hope he supports her claim
This is where the story would deviate the most
Melisandre has been with Stannis for a while and is convinced he's the prince that was promised
Teresa though is the direct heir and I do think Stannis' own sense of honor would dictate he support Teresa's claim
She's also uphold that trust by naming him her hand of the queen
He also would still be next in line should she die
I just think it could be a fun dynamic to work with, especially with Melisandre
Of course being a newly minted queen means she really needs to get on that marriage alliance
She'd likely reach out to Robb at some point offering to make him prince consort in exchange for the North's support of her claim
Of course, many of the northern lord would probably oppose this
There are a lot of different ways the story could go and I'm still working out in my brain all the possibly twists and turns. I just think it could be an interesting rise as Teresa does have a better ability than Stannis to gain friends and allies, but has to find a balance in being a woman in Westerosi culture.
Either way, if anyone is curious to learn more send me an ask and I'll be happy to answer anything you'd like. Or if you just want to see some little snippet of random scenes I've written, let me know! This is just where my brain has been for a while.

So was anyone gonna tell me Tommon was fat in the Game of Thrones books/comic or was I supposed to find out on my own?

Aemon Targaryen's eyes calmly roamed the Great Hall of the castle, not finding anything worthwhile to take note of. He was not there to revel in the apparent lavish castle that he had not won - but reclaimed by right. He hummed in consideration, indifference rather. His fight to take back the throne had not been in hunger for power, but in his pride to restore the powerful impression of his family name.
"Prisoners. Who do we hold that are of value.”
He made no effort to raise his voice from its emotionless, level tone he consistently used, not bothering to look to his sworn shield as he questioned him.
"Cersei Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Joffery Baratheon, Tommon Baratheon, Margaery Tyrell, Olenna Tyrell, Willas Tyrell, Loras Tyrell, Sansa Star-"
"A Stark? Of what relation to myself?"
"Your first cousin, your grace. Your uncle Ned Stark and his wife Catelyn Stark of house Tully's daughter."
“And why is she here?”
Aemon turned toward his shield as his eyes continued to scan the hall, his eyes catching the slight furrow of his shield's brow, his face suggesting he had expected Aemon to have already been told the answer. Yes, he had likely heard it, though the instances where he actually listened to the mostly useless information he was thrown, however, was scarce at best.
"She was intended to Joffery Baratheon before Ned Stark was beheaded and she was replaced with Margaery Tyrell."
“Ah. So her loyalties lie with the false king.”
“I am not so sure about that, your grace. Based on what I've heard she is likely grateful for your victory.”
“And what have you heard?”
"Her former betrothed had Ned Stark beheaded, as you know, against his promises to her to show him mercy. He made her look at his severed head among other multiple forms of torment for seemingly no reason other than his own amusement. When Robb Stark was victorious he had her brought in front of the court and stripped her to have her beaten, but Tyrion Lannister came to her aid before enough injury was inflicted to the point of permanent damage aside from scars she likely has.”
Aemon was quiet for a few moments, watching his sword's face.
“Bring her to me.”

GOT and some of the sexism claims. I'd say pretty much everyone has been equally screwed over in some way.
I just can't get on board with this sexist rubbish people are spilling . "Women just don't get happy endings on this show, women can't be successful, it's all about the men, they get everything'.
Erm... Really? Most of the male protagonists and antagonists being main or secondary characters aren't exactly at a spar right now .
Robert Baratheon - killed by a pig. Pretty useless as a king but not the worst person on the show.
Ned Stark- executed by a vicious little psycho. The most honorable man the show had or will have.
Jory- Stabbed through the eye, a loyal man.
Joffrey - poisened (by a powerful woman). Vicious little psycho incest kid. His crimes to numerable to go into.
Tommon - committed sucide, a sweet heart not at all suited for the role of King.
Renly - murdered by a shadow with his brothers face (by a powerful woman). Was loved by those that followed him.
Stannis - executed by Brienne ( a powerful woman). Not a great dad but before he went all fire happy was actually very honorable if not boring.
Robb Stark - betrayed and stabbed at a wedding. An honorable man who made a mistake, wanted his family back and paid the price.
Rickon Stark - shot with an arrow. Couldn't zig zag.
Ramsey - eaten by dogs on the orders of Sansa (a powerful woman). A sadist who got his due.
Roose Bolton - killed by his son, another ass who got his due.
Theon Greyjoy - flayed, had his dick cut off and then died heroically defending Bran. So much to be said about him.
Loras Tyrell - blown up (by a powerful woman). A honorable basically out and proud man who loved his king, still stood by the viscous little psycho Joffrey because that's what he had to do. A family man.
Jaime - flattened by rocks (?) So much to be said.
Ser Jorah - died fighting white walkers. Had his redemption.
Ser Barristan Selmy - killed by the Sons of the Harpy
Khal Drogo - died from a cut/magic/smothered by his Mrs (by two powerful women ) One of the most powerful characters died pretty early on
Viserys - killed by boiling gold on his head. Not going to she's a tear
Ollie - hanged as a traitor (because he Stabbed Jon and law is the law)
Ser Allister Thorne - hanged as a traitor
Edd - killed by White Walkers
Mance - burned at the stake and an arrow in the heart because he refused to bed the knee and lead the wildlings to fight Stannis war.
Bran Stark - basically already dead
Euron - killed by Jaime
High Sparrow - blown up (by a powerful woman)
Tywin- killed by an arrow on the loo. One of the most powerful and smart characters on the show. Would have made a good king if a harsh one.
Varys - burned alive (by a powerful woman). Such a powerful man behind the shadows, lived for the people
Qyburn- head smashed in
The Hound - dead by falling and fire. Was redeemed
Hodor - a sweet heart used by and messed up by Bran. F**k you Bran!!
Oberyn Martell - a great character who got cocky and had his head smashed in.
Little Finger - throat cut by Arya (a powerful woman). Totally asked for it but still one of the most powerful men .
Shall I go on?
Male protagonists left?
Jon- knows nothing. Theon had more balls than he does now. Has given up everything to be a lap dog to Dany. Actually died! But came back.
Bran- useless, boring. Honestly don't care what happens to him.
Tyrion- was one of the smartest characters on the snow. Has been reduced to an idiot who drops his friends in it and watches them burn. Not the best at making plans.
Gendry - a sweet heart who deserves a happy ending.
Ser Davos- a sweet heart who deserves a happy ending and has more sense than most of the men left put together.
Grey Worm- used to admire how strong he was given his beginnings, is now dead to me.
Sam - a sweet heart who is way smarter than he is given credit for. Deserves a happy ending. Always true to himself, a total coward but still fought when he had to.
Podrick - a loyal sweet heart who deserves a happy ending.
Can't even think of anyone else right now.
The women?
Cateyln Stark - throat slit. An ass to Jon Snow but a strong Matriarch who loved her children and wanted them back desperately.
Shae - straggled by Tyrion.
Ros - shot with arrows
Osha- a woman was dedicated to keeping Bran and Rickon alive. Killed by Bolton men.
Lysa Arryn - pushed through the moon door. Crazy Lady.
Lady Olenna - suicide, still had the last laugh. One of the most powerful matriarchs of the show. The whole reason Joffrey is dead and wasn't afraid to tell the men to shove it.
Sand Snakes and their mother - all dead one way or another. Not note worthy at all.
Margery Tyrell - Blown up, but a good and caring queen who knew how to play the game and cared for her family.
Missandei - throat cut, defiant to the end.
Melisandre - crumbled and was blown away but not before helping at the Battle for Winterfell.
Cersei - A Queen who stood up to everyone and survived until now, showed she wasn't to be messed with. Is responsible for a lot of death male and female, loved her children. Died under rubble (?)
Lady Lyanna Mormont - one of the best characters, bad ass, had more sense and honour than half the men on the show. Fought a battle against the dead and went out like a boss taking a giant with her!
Women left?
Dany - A Queen, a woman abused, raped and sold, etc. Still standing, a powerful if not losing the plot woman. Still rose up and is much stronger than she started out as.
Sansa - The Lady of Winterfell a woman who was abused, raped etc. Rising up to take back her home, much stronger for it. She learned to play the game or thrones. Took lessons from all her captors and abusers and isn't to be messed with now.
Arya - a child who lost everything, saw to much, became a child killer and faceless assassin. Made it home, killed the Night King, survived Kings Landing.
Brienne - a strong woman loved two men and was heart broken but both. A woman in a mans world refusing to conform. Spends all the time trying to find Sansa and Arya so she can keep a vow to Cat Stark. Managed to capture Jaime Lannister, fought a bear! Broke through Jaime's shell, defeated the Hound. Survived the White Walkers. Finally knighted.
Gilly- an adorable sweet heart who deserves a happy ending. Actually found about Jon but Sam wasn't listening.
Yara - a strong woman in a man's world, had the respect of her men, gave a massive 🖕 to the rules and wanted to be Queen. Open about the sexuality.
Meera Reed - kept Bran Stark alive beyond the wall for years. Basically Bran gave her the 🖕 even after she lost her brother for him.
Honestly I'd say the strong female protagonists are the ones left standing and the ones who have had the most growth, good or bad it's still growth. Even the ones who are gone had growth. The majority of male characters never really changed all that much.
The ones who changed the most are Jon (eventually), Jaime, Dany, Sansa, Arya and Bran. Maybe there are more?
It will most likely end with Jon on the throne, given what happened Dany won't be welcome on it now. But that doesn't mean the show is sexist. The characters plot archs have been asssinated yes but even if Dany has fallen, you still have Arya, Sansa, Brienne God even Gilly! How many stong male characters left? About the same and almost all had their arcs assassinated, Jon is useless, I wouldn't want to be left alone with Grey Worm now, Tyrion seems to have lost all sense.

[Image Description: Marker drawings of several characters from A Song of Ice and Fire, mostly focusing on Margaery and Loras Tyrell. On the top left is a drawing of Margaery wearing a green and yellow dress and holding a rose. She has roses in the hair and is side eyeing to the left. In the upper middle is a drawing of Loras wearing a dark green doublet over a white shirt, wearing a cap with a feather in it. In the top right there is a drawing of Margaery, Renly Baratheon, and Loras Tyrell. Renly is pulling both of the Tyrell siblings close to him, their cheeks smushed on his on either side of him. Margaery has pink roses in her hair and Loras has yellow roses in his. Across Loras's shoulders is a rainbow cape. In the bottom left is a photo of Tommen Baratheon and Margaery. Margaery is smiling with her eyes closed as she shows Tommon (who is wearing black and gold) a basket of black kittens. In the bottom right, there is a drawing of Margaery holding onto Sansa Stark's arm. She is looking up at Sansa (wearing shades of purple) and smiling. Sansa is blushing. In every doodle Margaery and Loras are wearing shades of green. /end ID]

[SPOILERS] I found the beginning of Season 5 to be a little bit boring and quite repetitive, but I just finished watching Hardhome and it's my second favorite episode of the show!
A couple of days ago, I shared my thoughts on Season 4 of Game of Thrones ( https://www.reddit.com/r/gameofthrones/comments/91ny2s/spoilers_in_my_opinion_season_4_of_games_of/ ). A season I consider the greatest TV Season ever put to screen. It had everything I dreamed it would have, but that's not the topic for this post.
I started watching Season 5 yesterday and although it had some fine plot elements in it, I really did not find myself invested in the characters, the action and the plot development as I did with Season 3 or 4. Not that it was bad, but it just was "there" and not the GoT level I was used to. Episode 7 finally was a really good episode with some nice elements but oh my god. The following Episode "Hardhome" was one of the best TV episodes I have ever seen!
I am a smart guy. If I see things teased and built up, I love it when these things finally happen and the storylines intertwine. The dialogue between Daenerys and Tyrion was absolutely amazing. "Stark, Baratheon, Lannister, Targaryen, Tyrell, they're all just spikes in a wheel". That's a direction I never thought would be possible. It opens so much room for more and inventive outcomes. It's amazing to finally see a Lannister & Daenerys meet, because well, that's actually what the Series has been building up to.
It's also really tough to think about what has happened to the Lannisters. Tywin is dead, Joffrey is dead, Tommon is broken, Cersei is imprisoned, Jaime has only one hand and Tyrion is somewhere where no one knows him. Comparing this with lets say the End of Season One is really thought provoking.
But of course, the real highlight are the White Walkers here. The last twenty minutes are blockbuster action stuff. It's frightening, but also stunning. How did a TV show manage to pull this kind of stuff of? The White Walkers were teased for 4 and a half fucking Seasons and FINALLY they are here. And they seem invincible as fuck. When they kill a human, he becomes one of them. How cool is that?? And the last shot with Jon Snow (my favorite character) realizing that is truly a thing of beauty.
