The Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Problem
Ichiban sprite WIP for my (admittedly self-indulgent) fangame
Pseudo-essay and ramblings below the cut
Tldr:
Iâm a sore, butt-hurt player who feels a bit cheated and a lot disappointed.
Critical Rating- 8/10
Personal Rating- 6.5/10

SPOILERS AHEAD
So Iâm writing this as of just finishing the game. Mind you, it took me about three-fourths of this year to beat LAD8. Not because it was challenging but because one thing or another pissed me off so much, I had to put it down for extended periods of time. Now I want to get my glazing out of the way so you understand the things that Iâm 100% not bashing here and a lot of my criticisms just have to deal with how RGG studio as a whole has become as storytellers and developers.
But most obviously addicting was the gameplay. This is probably one of my favorite turn-based RPGs in terms of mechanics and strategyâ and I played BG3 this year. It improved everything that was in 7 and added only more things worth liking, especially the inclusion of Kiryu breaking the entire physics and reverting to just pummeling someone. I thought that was a really endearing touch. Also, out of all the games Iâve put on the TV, this was the one my dad enjoyed watching most. For context, my dad is a fifty-three year old man who only plays first-person shooters and has no interest in any other kind of game. I play with subtitles too and heâs usually not a fan of that since he has poor vision but he LOVED watching the silly little âessence ofâ moves. He genuinely got excited whenever I did a shit ton of damage on an enemy lmao. Also in my dorm I have a poster of Ichiban and my dad pointed at it recently and said âI know that guy! He beats up people with his magical bat!â ⊠literally sobbed.
Besides the gameplay, it had nice quality of life improvements from 7 which was to be expected. Although I am VERY opinionated in terms of the story, my favorite part was Eiji and Ichibanâs development. The ending scene had such a cyclical feel to it that kind of reigned in some of the craziness to remind the viewer that the first ânewâ character Ichiban met was Eiji and a lot of Ichiâs expository conflicts were the result of his actions. I thought out of all the antagonists, he was the most realized and motivated as well. A lot of the more shocking moments I cared for had him in itâ either explicitly or implicitly. Also not to mention the âbon voyageâ motif, that was adorable.
Other things I enjoyed a lot were Dondoko Island, what a great in-depth mini game that at times Iâd much rather play than the main story, and Chitose and Tomizawa. I liked both of them a lot, I thought the were sweet additions, itâs just Chitose had a lot of bearing on the story in regards to Eiji and I wish I could see it through. She wasnât in the ending much at all and I feel like since she was so guarded we didnât see her personality very much. Tomi was a much smaller part of the story which was a bummer but regardless, he certainly didnât bother me and I like him for what heâs there for! Also heâs the most down-to-earth and relatable character on the team so that perspective was nice.
Okay now onto why I didnât like this game so much.
I enjoyed this game really up until Kiryu went back to Yokohama and got his own team. Everything I disliked about the plot could be traced back to starting around that chapter. If you boil it down, this game introduces itself as being a continuation of Ichibanâs story and revolving around him. But when we take ahold of Kiryu it reveals itself to be a game centered around both of them. And one side of the story is about a new, fresh, and beloved character we players are always excited to play as⊠and the other is Kiryu.
Iâm gonna rip the band-aid off now: I am sick of Kiryu. Do I think he deserves a better ending than in 6? Yes. Have I played Gaiden? No. Do I think that they shouldâve found a way to end his story in Gaiden? Yes.
We as players have spent SEVEN AND A HALF games playing as Kiryu, from 0 to Gaiden. I think itâs not a stretch to say they need to give him a rest. I wish everything that happened with Kiryu at the end of this game was either put into Gaiden and RGG had marketed that game as âthe true twilight era and ending of Kiryu Kazumaâ or been experienced through the eyes of Ichiban. After all, it felt like Kiryu was upstaging Ichiban more or less in his own game and not in a good way. If this game was supposed to be truly âsharedâ between the two of them then they shouldnât have made Ichiban such a focal point and made it like some grand scheme visualized through two different lenses like they did with Kiryu and Majima in 0. Every time I was back at the helm of Kiryu was just biding my time until I was Ichiban again! And call this an original take (sarcasm), but I donât think a game should be played like that.
Not to mention that RGG now has a habit of making the game unplayable by forcing the player to spend hours leveling up to beat a boss and while I think thatâs a clever way to get the player to spend more hours in their gameâ I definitely think we can all agree that spending time grinding to level up or to get new poundmates was no oneâs favorite part of the story. So not only am I trying to rush through Kiryuâs story that Iâm bored by, the game forces me to stay playing as him which only makes me hate that half of the game more.
I also think this series has really lost its spark, it set a standard that the conflict has to be so large, so all-encompassing and complex that it doesnât really know what story its telling. What I mean is done best in 3 which is my favorite game in terms of story, is because of its scope. Sure, the US is involved so the issue is slightly international and there is some silly, yakuza-brand confusion but 3 is solely focused on that little town in Okinawa. Everything came back to Kiryuâs attempt to settle down there and how the Tojo Clan still seemed to follow him all they to his doorstep. The plot was localized and familiar characters like Majima and Dojima made decisions remotely from Kiryu, while new faces like Rikiya and Mine got to shine. In 8, the scale is so large and is trying its best to be so fanservice-y that the story of âIchiban finding his momâ is lost completely in the cracks.
Also the cult shit. I know this RGG but even for their standards, this was stupid and not in a silly way. I was just groaning.
Not to mention, Lani is a character I felt no emotion towards. I wish the story was solely been about Ichiban finding his mom and it had spanned the entirety of the story, rather than the player being told âwell, Akane isnât the important one that Palekana is looking for itâs actually this random kid sheâs protecting that you donât know anything about or have an attachment to instead.â I think if they had, again, narrowed the scope and simplified the plot to be Ichiban searching for his momâ it couldâve been way more emotional and impactful. They couldâve even tried to achieve that Twin Peaks âwho killed Laura Palmer?â vibe. Be which I mean, a very simple question or sentence couldâve been expanded upon tenfold.
I donât know, this has gone on long enough. What do you think?

Danganronpa x Tomie! F! Reader.Brief small intro, almost entirely on Y/n.
âUnderstand, there's no other girl in the world quite as perfect as meâĄâ

Ultimate Actress
Name: Y/n Kawakami
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Personality: Due to her immense acting, Y/n manages to hide her true personality through a facade of being a kind, calm and slightly egotistical girl. In truth, she sees men as just a pathetic bug for her to destroy wether physically or mentally. She considers herself the most beautiful woman in the world and sees everyone else as lesser. She hardly shows any feelings but when someone could resist her abilities, she would start obsessing over them.
Appearance:

Y/n is a extremely beautiful female who has a slender build and slight curves. She has S/C (your skin color) clear skin, smooth and shiny, long blueish black hair with blunt curtain bangs, and a beauty mark just beneath her left eye. Her eyes are light silver and she has long eyelashes.
Stats:
Appearance : 10/10
Strength: 4.5/10
IQ: 8/10
Y/n is a very famous actress, starring in nearly 500 movies with almost all of them being successful at the box office and receiving well reviews all because of Y/n and her renowned beauty and talent. But Y/n was reported to be missing and then found dead during the first few weeks in Hopes Peak. Strangely enough, she later returned after only a day. Nobody knows what happened to her and why they found a corpse which looked just like her.
Warning: While this doesnât take place during or in a killing game, this story will be a somewhat darkfic including Gore, possibly NSFW, violence, death, abuse, and other things that are messed up so if anything triggers you, please do not read this fic. The actual first chapter is being worked on and itâs my first time writing a fanfic myself so I will do my best hopefully on this.
Copyright:
Tomis Kawakami belongs to Junji Ito and his series Tomie

So, uh, just reread "chapter"all it takes is one bad day" and does Twice have pure white pupils and irises like AFO supposedly does? Like, I haven't seen any clear official art of his eyes, but in the one back cover of him they look like they're pure white?
At this point I'm just going to have to make an entire essay on how we should be reading Japanese media with an understanding of cultural and class markers. No, Jin does not have the same eyes or similar eyes to AFO. Yes, there's connections with Jin and AFO but that's another topic. 1. AFO's eye color hasn't been really confirmed aside from that one WSJ cover that implies they can be clear and white. 2. That's not what the "something about my eyes rubs people the wrong way" means. This is what I mean about the cultural context being missing from most of us Western-readers and how we just don't get reading the manga with no guide to explain small details to us. I also wish Jin was just popular so I don't feel like I'm the only one in the fandom yammering about the ridiculous amount of depth he has as a character and in his storyline. First off, Jin's eyes are sunken in, his features abnormally "chiseled" and rough for an anime character. By the time we meet him he looks like he's had a hard life but we also find out in flashbacks he always kind of looked like that.
He's unkempt - stubbled, has the sunken eyes and dark eyebags the villains are generally drawn with. He smokes, drinks, wears a wife beater, has no eyebrows, and used to ride a motorcycle. All these things are a red flag. This is where "you really need to be familiar with Japanese media before you read BNHA" comes in, Jin, while drawing from several different Western comic characters (John Constantine, Deadpool, Rorschach), is also neatly fitting into the yanki and bosuzoku (sorta) trope. Or Japanese delinquents. What throws people "off" is the lack of eyebrows. Yanki are traditionally portrayed with no eyebrows. This link here explains that at sight a delinquent can be identified with shaved eyebrows. This is why so many villainous or rough characters are eyebrowless. It's like the Japanese equivalent of giving villains twirly mustaches and goatees - something about the imagery of that already implies villain in our minds, whereas the lack of eyebrows implies delinquent/criminal in the Japanese cultural imagination (in modern day settings. Heian-era eyebrow-lessness is a different story/class marker).
He's also blonde, or "chapatsu" which is also another "Delinquent" trope in Japan - many delinquents in the 70s-90s bleached their hair to this yellow or orange color (hence "cha" which obviously means tea/chai). Japanese schools are infamously awful at allowing for self-expression to the point where naturally brown-haired students can be forced to dye their hair, and chapatsu hair was a marker of a rebellious/delinquent student. Twice isn't the only one who Horikoshi uses this trope for. Tomura, for example, really had the "up to no good" look early on even if I think he's more of a homebody.
You know who else?
Huh, interesting, given Takami's a murderous professional career thief alcoholic. Wait a minute, wasn't Jin was one of the greatest Japanese thieves until his accident, I wonder exactly what Horikoshi meant by making Thief Takami have a similarly unkempt appearance, rough rugged facial features, and barely any brows? Wait -
Something to understand is that we've gotten information from Yoco Akiyama in TUM about how the main manga's design process works and apparently the facial feature consistency is really important for the artists. Thus the fact Keigo's parents were designed with: 1. Rough, sunken features (Thief & Jin) 2. Unkempt facial fair (Thief & JIn) 3. Deep eyebags (Jin & Tomie) 4. Similarly disordered filthy homes (Takami fam & Jin) 5. Beer Bottles lying around everywhere (Takami fam & Jin) 6. Small, beady eyes with little pupils (Takami Fam & Jin) 7. Grey-Blue Eyes (Tomie & Jin) 8. Clear mental instability (Tomie & Jin) Was absolutely intentional. For all that we see Keigo's parents, Horikoshi knowingly designed them to resemble Jin. Again, Jin was Keigo's villain to save. Keigo was Jin's hero. Keigo failed because we needed a character to fail to save "their villain". Both Keigo and Jin have clear working-class background and criminal class markers. These things tie them together, these marginalized identifications make their relationship something that should have worked. If we want an in-universe reason for Keigo's focus on Jin, it's absolutely true he likely (subconciously) saw his parents superficially reflected in Jin, and decided to "save" him because he was unable to save his parents. Of course, that was not only presumptuous, it was also wrong because Jin is not a stand-in for Keigo's parents (and unlike them is a decent person). Anyway, yeah, no Jin's design/looks made him look like a "thug" to people in his community. That's why he had issues and that's what his comment meant. People's biases about people who look like Twice made him just get...away less. If someone "looks like a thug" you will try to make connections that justify that bias. That's why things like his motorcycle accident hurt him so much. He was uneducated, likely a middle-school dropout, fired from a job, had a record and had "bad vibes". Who'd hire him? Can you understand why Jin was doomed into having to survive as a criminal? Society decided he was meant to fail years before he did fail. So much of BNHA is about people falling into traps of pre-determined outcomes. Jin's tragically so.

Show Me Yours | Matty Healy [8]
chapter eight, act two: anobrain
masterlist
A/N- because I'm so nice (I'm bored and tired of revising for my Lit exam), I've decided to publish the first chapter a day early, second chapter will be out tomorrow enjoy your reading! -Mac <3
1st January 2013
Thereâs a consistent knock on her bedroom door making her groan and sit up.
Sheâs still in her outfit from the party last night, thereâs a bra that doesn;t belong to her on the end of her bed, about eight empty bottles of all different kinds of drinks.
She kicks her foot out hearing a groan and apologises quietly looking down at Ross who lays across the foot of her bed, his hand holding onto a leg, and as she peers over the end of the bed she finds Adam passed out on the floor.
âWhat the fuck?â
âOw.â Ross groans again, letting go of Adam causing him to fall to the floor.
âWhat the hell happened?â
âI feel like Iâm in The Hangover.â Ross mutters into her dinosaur stuffed animal heâs stolen and had claimed at the bottom of her bed.
Adam lifts himself up, climbing under the blankets and pulling them over his head.
The door opens, Matty grinning as he runs to jump on top of Adam, George groans as he follows, sitting in the chair at her desk and falling asleep the moment he lays his head on his folded arms.
âThe albums out! Itâs out! The album is out!â Matty yells grabbin Adamâs shoulders and shaking, âHann! Hann! Get up!â
He starts jumping up and down on the bed until Tomie grips his ankle and tugs him flat on his face, âItâs out, itâs out.â
He giggles tugging her into his chest, kissing all over her face, then he grips Ross face planting a big long kiss on his lips and tackling him onto the floor.
âOw.â Ross simply says in a monotone voice.
Matty tackles Adam next, bringing him up on the bed, when Tommie tries to slip away sheâs dragged in by Adam, who then drags Ross back up, feeling left out, George stands and belly flops onto the top of them all.
âFinally.â Matty whispers into them all.
âWe actually did it.â
âWe made it.â
âNot yet.â
The four boys slowly lift their head to look at her and she shrugs at the looks she receives, âI mean, we still have to get reviews, see if itâs on the charts, hear it on-â
Mattyâs hand slaps over her mouth to stop her from talking, âWe did it, guys!â
âïœĄ ïŸâïžïœĄ âïœĄ ïŸâŸ ïŸïœĄ â
January 22nd 2013
âReady?â Matty pops his head around the corner and she looks behind herself with a nod as she tries to tie off the little plate sheâs doing.
He watches her struggle to untrap the one piece of hair for a few seconds then gives up and walks over, taking her frustrated hands in his own and then tugging free the stray hairs.
She nods, âThanks.â
He says nothing, just grabs her hat from the bed and passes it to her allowing her to pull it on.
She stands in her room, looking at herself in the mirror that Ross had put up on the wall for her a few days ago, brushing her hands down over the jeans sheâs wearing and checking her top before she allows him to silently guide her out of the room.
âRoss and George are with Adam, youâre riding with me.â
âIâm supposed to be riding with Adam.â
Matty shrugs, âThey were waiting outside ready, told them to go ahead.â
âBut, I-â
Matty shrugs, grabbing her bag off her shoulder for her, his own in his other hand as he pushes the door closed for her to lock behind them. âIâm not that bad a driver am I?â
âNo.â
He nods to himself at her curt reply and watches her shove her keys into her pocket before grabbing her bag from him and walking ahead.Â
Matty doesnât know how to describe the past few weeks. He wants to use the word tense, but thereâs been no real tension between them.
They talk, share stories, joints, smiles, laughs, thereâs just something thatâs missing.
She silently sits in the passenger seat as they set off to Newcastle for their performance later that night, itâs early, five thirty, still dark out.
âFirst gig of the new album.â
She leans forward to turn the radio on, turning it up at a volume that clearly states no talking and she nods to himself turning forward again.
He sighs, trying to remain quiet, eyes flickering between the road, his mirrors and her.
He seems to focus longer on her, he canât help it. Itâs killing him, this new dynamic but he understands it.
He has a girlfriend, sheâs trying to see things from Gemmaâs perspective.
He knows heâd tell her to stay away from a relationship if the guy was too close to his best friend too, he knows what that means.
But he thought they werenât like that. This foolish hiding behind the âweâre best friends actâ.
His fingers have been drumming a beat on the steering wheel for a while, eyes flickering so fast between Tommie and the road that heâs given himself a headache.
Sighing he shakes his head and reaches for the radio, turning it down so itâs almost a whisper.
âCan we⊠can we just stop for a second?â
âWeâve barely been on the road thirty minutes, Healy, I told you to go before we left.âÂ
âNo, I mean,â He sighs, one hand lifting from the wheel to brush though his curls, âStop this thing between us.â
âWhat thing?â
âThat thing.â
She shakes her head and watches his hands tighten, âI get it, you know, and I appreciate that youâre trying to make Gemma feel more at home in the group,â She tries not to show her distaste of that sentence show, âBut, it makes me feel bad.â
He shakes his head, âThat came out wrong.â
Again he sighs, âYouâre my best mate, Baby. I couldnât have done any of this without you, none of us could. I want to celebrate it with you. But, youâre- just, you, uh, I-â
âShut up.â
She leans closer to the dash and he furrows his brows, âNo, Tommie, I think we should talk about this. Gemma said something and I just-â
âNo, Roddy, shh-â
âTommie, Iâm trying-â
âShut up!â
She hits his hand when he tries to stop her from fiddling with the radio again.
âAnd donât call it a spade if it isnât a spade, in nothing but your t-shirt on-â
âHoly shit!â
He slams the breaks on, both of them stopping in the middle of a random country lane the satnav told them to take.
He turns to her, both of their eyes wide, âWeâre on the radio!â
âHoly shit, Roddy, weâre on the radio!â
âCall the guys, call them, call them!â
It takes a few rings for George to pick up, and heâs a little groggy as he does, âHel-â
âTurn radio one on.â
âWhat?â
âTurn it on!â
They hear him grumble and mutter the radio station to Ross who turns it over, âyou know where the city is, the city is-â
âOh my god!â
Adam laughs loudly as the other two start cheering, âWeâre on the fucking radio mate!â
âWeâre on the radio.â
Tommie laughs turning to look at Mattyâs whoâs already staring at her, âHey, do you guys-â
Matty doesnât hear the rest of Georgeâs question, heâs gripped both of her cheeks and brought her lips to his.
âMatty? Mate? You still with us?â
Matty doesnât answer, eyes on Tommie who looks anywhere but at him, âYeah, weâre still here, G.â
âMcDonalds? Next service station.â
âYeah, uh, weâll meet you there now in a minute.â She says, still feeling a little breathless.
âAlright.â
She hangs up, the song has changed, some shitty pop song sheâs never heard before plays throughout the car and Matty reaches forward to turn it down.
âTommie, I-â
âDrive.â

the epidemic with the teen girls was very very interesting to me. and turning the page on the last chapter and seeing "the boy in white" made me cheer like my favourite teem just won the superbowl LOLLL not very scary but definitely a gripping story
3.uzumaki
well written story ! i dont have any big opinions about it but its popular for a reason
4.remina
really really liked the plot ! but i just wish junji went for a more "salem witch trials" vibe when they were trying to get rid of remina, rather than crucifixion (? i think thats what it was) big missed opportunity i think
5.mimis tales of terror
cute collection of stories ! decently scary and i really liked mimi as a character
6.sensor
really like the art for this one, BUT the last chapter was very confusing to me so i dont like it as much for that,,,seemed really out of pocket
7.soichi
had high hopes for this one, but all that ended up happening was me hating soichi and his family,,,,that boy needs mental help and theyre just not giving him it and then complaining when he preforms sacrificial rituals on them
8.deserter
uhhh i dont remember too much from this one but the whole twist at the end of "deserter" was pretty boring to me
9.smashed
weird beginning, and the stories didnt do much for me
10.gyo
I LOVE FISH but was so disappointed when the walking fish plot was dumped in like the first chapter and turned into,,,,?????war weapons????? very dissapointing

So I'm sending chap 7 & the first 2 parts of my chap 8 stuff then I'm going to sleep. Since I'm off tmr I should have it all done by then and I will see if I have the energy to digest the monster that I imagine chap 11 will be.
CHAPTER 7 (1/2)
The difference between their reactions to the situation is actually kind of funny I'm not going to lie. [âAfter his screaming died down, Tomys had given him an exasperated look and asked if he was doneâ] Tommy is so real he doesnât have time for Wilbur to be dramatic they need to SURVIVE.
The separation anxiety is already starting to set in from the moment Wilbur is rendered immobile on the floor of the cave [âFear shot thrugh Wilbur like the red hot pain spiked from his leg to the rest of his bodyâ]. Despite the fact that Wilbur knows itâs smart to get wood because they cannot freeze to death, if the bandits somehow find Tommy again, Wilbur will be by himself until he freezes or starves to death, whichever comes first.
His spiralling overthinking when heâs alone says so much about this boyâs issues. Heâs constantly comparing himself to his father, what he could have done, should have done that his father would have thought of because heâs just that great and intelligent. And how could he ever fill those shoes as the next Consil?
The difference between the two of them in terms of their knowledge is also very fun as it further shows how different they are but how well they can work together. Like Tommy knowing how to start a fire but not knowing what kindling is called. They fill in the gaps in each othersâ knowledge which will ultimately help them survive.
And their different attitudes. Tommy is determined to get both of them back while Wilbur has already just accepted that heâs probably going to die as his chances are fucked with a broken leg.
The reveal of Tommy being in the running to become the heir coming from Wilbur will make him trust him more in the long run as he was the only one being real. The fact that he considered that Tubbo and Jack knew without telling him makes me think that when they go back, heâs going to be similarly detached from them like Wilbur is from Niki.
Tommy saying that he doesnât want the throne is just so sad though. Heâs just a kid who wasnât given the choice in whether he wants to have the weight of an entire country on his shoulders. And now Phil is considering to shape him to become the perfect ruler for Wilbur to be Consil if Wilbur is up to partaking in a lil manipulation for funzies.
- đŠ
SO I REMEMBERED THESE
the contrasting reactions of crimeboys to the carriage accident/bandit attack was so funny to write. you'd really expect tommy to be the one freaking out but because wilbur is the one freaking out tommy literally can't also freak out. it's like that one yuker (I think it was yuker I could be wrong) comic with c!crime where ctommy is like "ghostbur we can't both be having panic attacks at the same time we need to have a system"
SEPARATION ANXIETY ALREADY HITTING IT'S A CLASSIC! yeah wilbur is very aware that if literally anything happens to tommy at this point he is going to starve and/or freeze to death in a cave. he really needs tommy to stay alive. and of course this anxiety leads to him overthinking the whole incident and blaming himself for it because why would he have a normal reaction to this. of course he's going to blame himself and think it's because he's inadequate compared to his father he has so many issues
I loved showing the balance with the knowledge each of them have. tommy knows how to do a lot of survival things but wilbur has actual book knowledge. when tommy's knowledge fails, wilbur has to grasp at whatever he remembers from books to fill in the gaps. they work REALLY well together which was really fun for me to show
wilbur revealing to tommy that he's in the running for heir was one of the smartest things he could've done. that earned him so much of tommy's loyalty. literally no one else in tommy's life had gotten around to telling him yet and he learned from one of the last people he would expect to tell him, so of course that was huge. but either way, the tragic part is like you said he doesn't even want it :( he's just a kid :(( but that doesn't matter because he's in the running either way. he's been put in the rat race and now he has to survive

Saint Rosalind

Manga recommendation đ
Saint Rosalind" is two volume shoujo horror series from 70s. Written and illustrated by Watanabe Masako
The story follows little Rosalind. 8 year old girl with angelic beauty who's aunt just died in a tragic accident. Rosalind got aunt's beautiful clock and called it her treasure. The thing is that there is something special about this little girl. Rosalind never lies. There is also one other special thing about her.
Wherever she goes, death seems to follow.
It just so happens that whatever Rosalind wants, she gets yet owners of those "treasures" seem to always meet tragic fate.

Oh boy, I wanted to talk about this manga for EVER.
It's extremely intriguing and just sucks you in. In just two volumes, so much happens.
I think what makes it so special is that it combines grotesque and gory themes with emotional story telling of shoujo manga. Which ends up really engaging you with the characters and creates this kind of mystery of what can happend next.
"Saint Rosalind" has also a lot of religious themes, Christian to be exact. Till the end you are not sure whether the story was that of supernatural or not. It's really up to your interpretation whether the story was that of a demon or something more human... or at least human shaped.
Something that can be either the biggest turn off or just the reason of what drove you to it is this classis shoujo artstyle. For me of course it was a plus.

Like I said I think what really makes this series so good to read is it's shoujo inclinations that elevate the mood of the story. Little sparkles that show up set the mood of shock yet mystery at the same time. I think Rosalid with her sparkly eyes and long eyelashes that at times hide her eyes really add to the horror.
Some other titles of horror shoujo you might wanna know are: "Pet shop of horrors", "Hell girl" or "Screaming lessons"
(and yes I am deliberately not talking about "Tomie" here since that's something that pretty much almost anyone is already familiar with)
It's hard for me to truly sell the hook of "Saint Rosalind" without going into specific chapters of this manga but I think you will get what I mean after reading just one chapter. And if that won't be enough I will just say that if you like horrors about dolls i think you will have fun with this one as well. Similar vibes that's all.

Hi, I loved your post about the family vacation with Ichi and Sawashiro. And I'll just say that I didn't have a problem with Sawashiro's role in IW... until the very last second. Because they get a freaking helicopter for Kiryu, but no one even went to look if Sawashiro was ok?? They just leave him in the chair while tending to Kiryu. BOTH of them are dying.
Like holy shit, Ichi would have gone to him in a second. He would have stopped Ebina's monologue instead of just standing there without even knowing if he was alive or not. That was for me the most disrespectful moment. I loved how Ichi believed in him at the beginning of Chapter 10, and then I was expecting some kind of reunion at the end but he f*cks off to Hawaii, not even a "Please save the Captain" to Kiryu or anything. That's what made me the most mad
I really hope they pay us off in Y9, he better come back with a cool eyepatch and join the party
Omg I didn't really expect anyone to read that post let alone get an ask about it but I'm so glad that you loved it!! And huge same if he's not coming back as a party member or dying in a meaningful way, there's no point bringing that asshole back.
Me, being the Arakawa family tragedy enjoyer that I am, was overjoyed to see Sawashiro back for 8 and while he did have a few banger moments, the ending really did ruin it all for me. Me bitching abt it under the cut bc I need to puke out my anger Somewhere
Like I keep going back to think about how Ebina calls Ichi, tells him that he's got a bone to pick with him, tells him that he's holding Sawashiro captive bc what better bait to dangle in front of Ichi than the possibility of someone he cares for getting hurt??? And lets be real here the rest of the cast has no reason whatsoever to care about Sawashiro other than him being someone important to Ichi. (I think Tomi says something like 'i dont know this guy but if he's being used as bait he's gotta be important to you' iirc)
Then Kiryu walks in and is like "leave Ebina to me" bc Ebina's plotline is suddenly something personal Kiryu has to deal with??? (my feelings about kiryu being a protag in this game is a whole diff can of worms that I wont open rn but keep in mind how its mostly negative) So Ichi leaves that to him and doesn't really state what he's feeling about all the new info that gets dropped on him (this could be a 'Ichi putting others above himself' moment but i still hate it bc whats the point of Ebina's '''plot twist''' if Ichi was not even a part of it????)
And my god Sawashiro at that last scene. I think my live reaction of that scene is still on twitter where I just bitch for an hour. Even before the scene happened I was like "If they kill Sawashiro without Ichi present it'd make no sense. just like how killing Hanawa without Kiryu present was a Bad Choice".
When that chair turned... I think I tuned out the rest of Ebina's monologue bc I kept thinking the same 3 things: 1. none of this would've happened if sawashiro came with me to hawaii, 2. there's absolutely no reason for this to happen with This Cast (i dont think they even react outside of gasping or something) and 3. when will this masato clone wanna-be shut the fuck up so I can beat his face in (One thing I'll give to that chair scene was how it was a direct parallel to Hoshino's corpse. I think it was a very sexy thing rgg did.)
And then they're like "look!! he's not dead!!!" but at that point I was not sure if that was a 'last words' or a 'he's still alive!' moment. and I'm gonna be honest I Still Do Not know bc just like you said anon, NOONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT HIM??? (nor about ebina for that matter) AND THEN THERES NO FOLLOW UP WHATSOEVER????? and all this makes me see it as sequel bait tbh
and I'm not even going into how he doesnt even get to meet Akane again. Thats a whole other topic on its own and I think I already typed out enough lol.
#thank you so much for this ask!! but also#IM SORRY I DIDNT WANT THIS TO BE A HATER MOMENT BUT I HAPPEN TO HAVE A LOT OF EMOTIONS FOR THIS ASSHOLE AND I AM. VERY UPSET :((#my haterisms for this game (mostly) stems from my immense love for these fuckass fictional characters#I need to force myself to finish writing this fic. its gonna be sort of an aftermath i needed w ichi & sawashiro.#I need to get it out of my system before it leaves me completely then there will be No Fic#answered#nile talks#iw spoilers#Infinite wealth spoilers

Ask game: 1, 2, 3, 4, 20:D
:D
Your top 5 reads of 2023 Answered this one, but I'll elaborate a little: Hikaru no Go: I'm a sucker for sports/game stories when they keep the game play relatively grounded and focus on realistic efforts people take to improve. All the character work is very solid too, and the story arc about grief and loss makes me cry. Inside Mari: I was uneasy to read this one because of its subject matter, but I thought it handled things in a successful way. I'm always in love with this author's art style (see question 3) and even though I thought some of the ending was weak, the story was still good. Dungeon Meshi: I did not like the beginning much, but as the characters fleshed out and the world grew, I became much more impressed. I like the art style and I like the comedy. I haven't quite finished it yet. Blue Period: This comic does a good job capturing what it's like to engage with art through academics and the tension between art as expression and everything else art can be. I like the diverse character designs. Chainsaw Man: The anime dragged me back in to the comic. I reread part 1 last year and have been sticking with the updates to part 2 fairly regularly. There's just something compelling and sad about the protagonists. And a little action and silliness is fun too.
2. A series you'll keep up with next year Chainsaw Man, Kekkaishi, The Summer Hikaru Died, Kaiju No. 8 (maybe)
3. Your author of the year Shuzo Oshimi. I read Inside Mari, Blood on the Tracks, and reread Happiness. This author always deals with dark, sad subjects, but often pulls out uplifting aspects of humanity even as he is breaking people down. I love his art. Every time he stops using midtones I get so excited, haha.
4. An underrated gem This is tough. I feel like I read some underrated gems last year (anything by Taiyo Matsumoto). The one I'm picking isn't really a gem, just more of a manga I haven't mentioned yet: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun. The art is okay and the story is okay. But the protagonist is sweet. I haven't looked at it in months, but I could still see picking it up again when I want something cheerful that scratches a specific itch. I think what I like about it is that in a world of demons, the human Iruma has a power-creep trajectory that still feels attached to him being a human.
20. Drop your 2024 reading list đ Ones I've paused that I mean to finish: Goodnight Punpun, Dungeon Meshi, The Land of the Lustrous (if I can tough out the despair), Dorohedoro, To Your Eternity (if I can get through without crying every 10 chapters)
Ones I want to reread: Our Dreams at Dusk, Ajin, A Silent Voice, Mob Psycho 100 (waiting for all the books to publish in English), Homunculus
New Reads: Flowers of Evil, Tomie (and other Ito works), Sunny, The Book of Human Insects, Solanin
Always open to recommendations!
#manga#ask game#generally i'd like to read more books i already own#flowers of evil has been sitting on my shelf for at least a year#and my roommate owns basically every ito work every published in english#edited to add homunculus to the reread list#I wonder how it holds up
