can we get another No. 1 fan snippet? 👉👈
Tom rushes to the front row seats, covered in Harry's merchandise and slightly shoving anyone out of his way as he bounced to his seat. Behind him, Abraxas follows at a much more regal pace, smiling like he was watching an endearing toddler at Yule time.
The blond had been able to buy them all the best seats in the house, as a present for Tom. It wasn't a special occasion or anything, rather the Malfoy heir had seen the tickets sell and wanted to surprise Tom.
Orion had tagged along, seeing as his house had quickly become unbearable. His grandfather had decided that he was finally at the age to speak about his marriage and the last couple of days of his summer vacation had been dedicated to thinning out the option of witches his family approved.
The way things were going, it seemed like Orion would either be married off to his older cousin Walburga or to the heiress of the Nott family.
Both were terrible options. Nott is a mousy thing, afraid of her own shadow, and she could be a bore after the first few flinches, while Walburga has an obsession with the family and its standards. She seems to think she could tell him how to behave and how to present himself, and he knows if they marry she will be even worse.
This invitation had been just what he needed to get away from the arguments with his parents.
"Do either of you want something to drink or eat before the show starts?" Abraxas asks the two, his coin pouch in his hand. Tom shakes his head, his eyes roaming around the room as if he can make his idol appear by will alone.
Orion asks for some hot chocolate, and the blond whisks away, on a hunt to find the substance. He's noticed that the other Slytherin likes being able to provide for them as if his wealth made him able to properly fuss over the two.
It's something he oftentimes poked at, just to see how far Abraxas would go for him. Tom had only asked for school supplies- top of the line of course- but Orion always threw in random requests such as a thunderbird quill to see if the blond was that desperate to buy their friendship.
He was.
"How have things been with your father, Tom?" Orion asks taking his eyes off of Abraxas after the blond merged with the crowd.
"We are still learning to interact with one another," Tom says evenly. His voice betrays none of his excitement that he had only a few seconds before.'
Orion nods, folding one of his legs over the other. "Of course. It's only been a few weeks since he found you. I'm sure with time, you'll have a tight bond."
Tom's dark eyes flash with an emotion that is nearly as dark as the black lake at Hogwarts and Orion feels a quiver of his own thrill. Oh but the joy it is to cause such a controlled person like Tom to lose his composure.
It's interesting, to watch as Tom's thoughts roll around in his mind, intense enough they could feel heavy even when he does not voice them. Sometimes, Orion wonders how far head Tom was compared to other people like he was seeing different directions at once.
"I'm sure we are," Tom says eventually. "Father....seems rather taken by some of the wonders of the magical world. He wanted to go to Diagon Alley as soon as I told him about it."
"Have you taken him?"
"We do not have a floo," Orion tilts his head slightly picking up on the bitterness of the admission.
"Can you not travel the muggle way there?"
"Times are a bit...tense, right now. It's best not to go to cities."
The muggle war. Orion heard of it, but it was distant to a point. "I could ask Abraxas to help provide a floo for your new home so you to travel. I'm sure he would be most eager to serve."
Tom considers the idea before shrugging. "If he wishes to. I know he would do anything you ask of him but even this is a bit complicated. Father doesn't seem too eager to accept the wizarding world enough to add a floo into the manor."
Orion frowns confused. "What do you mean?"
Tom straightens out his Harry the Undefeated Scarff making sure the symbol at the bottom is showing, as he makes a questioning noise. It's a bit annoying to not have his full attention but the Black heir moves past it easily. "What do you mean Abraxas would do anything I ask him?"
"He fancies you of course," Tom says much to his shock. Seeing his expression the older Slytherin seems pretty stumped too. "Surely you've noticed? Abraxas is always tripping over himself to please you."
"...I thought he fancied you to be honest Tom."
The muggle-born rolls his eyes. "If Abraxas fancied me, I would have used him already."
Now that was a very good point. Huh.
"I got our food!" Abraxas announces walking down the aisle to them with a box. He gives Orion a large smile, and for the first time, the boy notices how long it lingers on him before he shifts his attention to Tom. Well. "I know you said you didn't want anything but they were selling popcorn in a limited time edition of Harry the undefeated cups and I thought-"
"I am suddenly very peckish. Thank you, Abraxas." Tom holds out his hand for his cup which makes the blond roll his eyes fondly. Orion stares at him, considering his options. His grandfather would not be happy about the lack of an heir but, as the Heir of the Malfoy fortune maybe Abraxas could convince the old man that he would be a better partner for Orion.
It's already established that Orion wouldn't have any problem with controlling him but the Malfoy is willful enough to not be a complete pawn too.
Hmmm, much to consider indeed.
"It's starting! It's starting!" Tom suddenly screeches as the announcer steps between the two circles smiling at the crowd.
"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I present to you the great, the unstoppable, Harry the Undefeated!:"
Tom screams throwing his popcorn everywhere. Abraxas who was sitting next to him quickly brushes off the pieces that fell on his robes, smiling like he finds it endearing. Orion has never noticed how amused Abraxas seems with life until now....that's strange.

Journal - 20 Movies With Stunning Architecture in the Starring Role
To help keep you sane during lockdown, we’ve got a very niche treasure hunt for you: Spot the following 20 spectacular buildings as they appear in movies throughout the last decade (along with a few from further back in time).
Architecture and movies have always gone together, from Hitchcock’s pioneering use and representation of space to Kubrick’s anxious use of interiors to Terry Gilliam’s absurdo-futurist panoply of forms in Brazil. These examples, great as they may be, are very well-known and always trotted out when any discussion of film and buildings is broached. But what about those lesser-spotted buildings from classic less-than-classic movies?
The last decade of Hollywood movies has offered plenty for architectural lovers to gawk at, even if the films themselves are usually underwhelming, to put it kindly (we’re looking at you, Twilight). Enjoy this list, and be sure to continue onto page two at the foot of the page for the second set of A-list architectural cameos!

13-year-old wins diving championship, causing us to contemplate our youth
Photo credit should read OLI SCARFF/AFP/Getty Images
We’ll never be this accomplished.
On Monday 13-year-old Oleksii Sereda became the youngest diver to win the European Championship. Sereda broke Tom Daley’s record (which he also set at age 13), which stood almost as long as he’d been alive after being set in 2008.
youtube
There is precisely nothing that will make you feel older and less accomplished than hearing about a 13-year-old becoming a champion in anything, let alone being named the best diver in all of Europe. At this point we have two options:
Cry gently into our coffee and wait for the sweet release of death.
Channel the pain into sharing our 13-year-old exploits in the hopes we can somehow feel better about ourselves.
These are our stories.
When I was 13 I made a movie for Nickelodeon.
Yeah, a real, actually exists short film that I have a VHS copy of sitting on my bookshelf. I honestly don’t remember the contents that well. I know I did the voice over for the main character, and recall it being claymation — but what I remember the best was ruining the behind the scenes documentary they wanted to air alongside it.
Nickelodeon in Australia were doing this thing called Short Films by Short People, and asked for pitches. I wrote a script along with some friends and we were selected, spending the summer working on the film.
Alongside the 3 minute film they wanted to air a short documentary where we told other kids how cool it was to work with Nickelodeon. It was cool, for sure. I remember the animator hated us. I also remember getting yelled at by the producer because I turned up at the studio in a Stone Cold Steve Austin shirt one day. She was normally very chill, but absolutely went off on me because they couldn’t use any footage from that day and didn’t want to blur my shirt. It turns out those suits at Big Gak weren’t okay with an angry bald man standing on a turnbuckle flipping people off.
What a world.
- James Dator
When I was 13 I just wanted to go through puberty really badly.
I was really short and my voice still sounded like a child’s and did I mention that I was really short. Honestly I wasn’t asking for all that much at that point because I was still in middle school. An armpit hair would’ve been huge. But no, I was just really short and had to play against like full-grown-men type of 8th graders in basketball and that was no fun.
Shoutout to the kid who did the diving record, because at 13 I was just whiny and short as hell.
- Matt Ellentuck
When I was 13 I was an active member of a Christina Aguilera fan message board.
First off, yes it was a message board. It wasn’t even Tumblr. It was a message board. The internet was very different back then. Sometimes Christina’s mom Shelly would hop online to talk to us. We speculated over dating and eventual breakup rumors with her backup dancer Jorge. Or the stories fans would bring back from tour. It was always the busiest at night, and you never wanted to miss a big night. Just like you never want to miss NBA Twitter during a big game. If you logged back on later, the FOMO was too strong.
Anyway, her debut album is currently celebrating is 20th Anniversary and I have no idea where my life went. But I kind of miss only caring about what new posts had been made on that message board while I was at school.
- Whitney Medworth
When I was 13 I was obsessed with my Geocities website on Michigan football
I have already revealed way too much about my youth for this website, which you can read about here. Here’s just an excerpt from 13-year-old me:
My Hobbies- Sports and hangin’ around are my hobbies. When Im with friends we always play basketball, or football, or soccer, or some sort of sport. Following all sports is fun to. It’s like watching a masculine soap opera. Hanging around is always fun, I’m a pretty lazy guy so that’s what I do most of the time. It’s always fun to go the mall or downtown and talk to people, just random people. I have made many friends that way, and enemies.
This is only maybe the third most embarrassing thing on that website. Which you can still go to. But please don’t it’s humiliating. Here’s the link again.
— Louis Bien
When I was 13 I was an active member of an MVP 05 message board.
My family had just moved to Norway, I didn’t speak the language yet and nobody else cared about baseball. But I had my PS2 and MVP 05, and I found a message board of other (mostly) teens who loved the game (a few of whom now also work in sports media, shouts out to them). I started taking requests for custom create-a-players (CAPs for short) of historical baseball players or prospects that weren’t in the game, and I had a way-too-big excel sheet where I had formulas for how to determine what each rating in the game should be based on the player’s stats at different levels of baseball.
Game’s still great, by the way. And now I have way-too-big spreadsheets for Football Manager, instead. They’re color-coded now, which technically counts as personal growth.
— Pete Volk
When I was 13 the Chicago Bears taught me sports pain.
Being the ultimate Jay Cutler apologist, I believed the Chicago Bears could compete for the NFC North title in 2011. The season started off great with Chicago starting off 7-3. They had a last second pick six to beat the Panthers, crushed the Vikings on Sunday Night football, and saw Matt Stafford throw DJ Moore down by the helmet which in turn sparked a brawl. Life was great.
But then Cutler broke his thumb against the Chargers and the Bears lost five of their next six games to miss the playoffs. The losses didn’t bother me that much as much as the way they lost. Caleb Hanie took one step too extra when taking a spike, inciting a penalty and running out the clock against the Raiders. A completed Hail Mary was enough for the Chiefs to beat us. Then the Tim Tebow game happened. In what was one of the ugliest games I have ever seen, the Bears had a chance to run out the clock and get this win out of the way. But Marion Barber decided it was smart to run out of bounds with less than two minutes left. Oh, and all of these games happened in a row. 13 year old me was crushed at how the Bears could continue to break my heart every week. I can only imagine the look on my face if Double Doink happened that year instead.
— Vijay Vemu

LONDON — Boris Johnson’s big gamble paid off in spectacular fashion.
The Conservatives have won their first sizable majority in decades, having taken dozens of seats from Labour, many that had been held by the party for decades.
A decisive majority empowers Johnson to press ahead with pushing through the Brexit deal he agreed with the EU back in October. He has vowed that the U.K. will leave the bloc on January 31 and negotiate a trade agreement before the end of a transitional period on 31 December 2020.
“This one-nation Conservative government has been given a powerful new mandate to get Brexit done – and not just to get Brexit done, but to unite this country and to take it forward,” said Johnson after the result of his own seat in west London was announced.
Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said he would not lead the Labour party into another election, but declined to stand down immediately. “This is obviously a very disappointing night,” he conceded.
He blamed Brexit, saying Labour’s policies to tackle inequality were “hugely popular during the campaign.” He said he would lead a process of “reflection” for the party, although several Labour figures called on him to step down immediately.
Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson narrowly lost her seat to the Scottish National Party in a bad night for the centrist pro-EU party. “For millions of people in our country, these results will be bring dread and dismay and people are looking for hope,” she said in her concession speech.
Brexit election
The Conservatives’ impending victory became clear as soon as voting had closed and the exit poll dropped at 10 p.m.
Faced with the initial forecast of a thumping 86-seat Tory majority — the biggest one since Margaret Thatcher’s third election victory in 1987 — Labour politicians were quick to concede defeat.
“Brexit has dominated this election,” Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said on the BBC a few minutes after 10 p.m.
But most Labour candidates who spoke out didn’t think the problem had been Brexit — they blamed Jeremy Corbyn.
“I guess we forgot to tell the voters that Corbyn is out biggest electoral asset,” a Labour candidate remarked acidly. Far from an asset, candidates have quietly warned for weeks that Corbyn is a major liability on the doorstep. Poll after poll has found that his rock-bottom personal approval ratings make him the most unpopular opposition leader in decades.
Any lingering doubts about the exit poll forecast were dispelled early on, when news broke that a recount was being held in the Labour stronghold of Blyth Valley. The former mining seat had been represented by veteran Labour MP and Brexiteer Ronnie Campbell, who stood down at this election.
But Campbell’s 8,000 majority had evaporated overnight, and Blyth Valley elected its first Conservative MP.
The “giddy disbelief” in the Conservative campaign headquarters turned to celebration as the Blyth result was announced, according to a Tory adviser. Conservatives thought they had run a good campaign, the adviser said, but didn’t accept the result until the Labour-held seat swung Tory.
It was a sign of what was to come. Within the first four hours of the nationwide count, Labour had lost a string of key seats — Workington, Darlington, Wrexham and Peterborough — to the Conservatives.
Before 3 a.m., news came in that in Wales, Clwyd South — a seat Johnson fought and lost himself as a fresh-faced politician in 1997 — had fallen to the Tories.
It was clear by then that Johnson had pulled off what a succession of Conservative leaders since Margaret Thatcher had failed to do: winning a resounding parliamentary majority. And he did it by achieving what his predecessor Theresa May had tried and failed to do: break Labour’s hold on its former industrial heartlands in the north.
Re-drawing the map
The result, which redraws the U.K.’s electoral map, is a vindication for Johnson, his strategists and the Conservative MPs who backed him in the party’s leadership contest over the summer on the basis that he can win elections.
Where they weren’t losing, Labour MPs across the country were reelected with massively reduced majorities. Labour party chairman Ian Lavery narrowly escaped and was reelected in Wansbeck with a majority of just 814 — down from more than 10,000. Big hitters such as former Labour leader Ed Miliband and one-time leadership contender Yvette Cooper were returned with slim majorities.
Meanwhile, key marginals that Labour had hoped to win — such as Nuneaton and Swindon South — were returning comfortable Tory majorities.
The only bright spot for Labour was in a sprinkling of Remain-voting parts of London and the south-east. The party won Putney from the Conservatives and retained Canterbury after a recount — but lost Kensington by just 150 votes.
As Corbyn made his concession speech in Islington North, news broke that his party had lost Sedgefield, which Tony Blair won with a 25,000 majority when he led Labour to a landslide victory in 1997. The party also lost West Bromwich East, former deputy leader Tom Watson’s old seat.
Perhaps the most startling upset was in Leigh, formerly held by Greater Manchester mayor and two-time Labour leadership contender Andy Burnham. It was 132nd on the Tory target list, and the incumbent MP Jo Platt had a majority of nearly 10,000.
In Bassetlaw, formerly represented by John Mann who is now a peer, there was a record swing of 18 percent from Labour to the Tories.
Johnson is expected to christen his new government with a minor reshuffle aimed at replacing departing Cabinet ministers such as the Culture Secretary Nicky Morgan. Next week, he is set to bring forward a Queen’s speech and the first stage of his legislation to ratify his Brexit deal.
MPs will disperse for their Christmas break after that, before returning in the new year to go through the remaining stages of the Brexit legislation by the end of January.
It is now a near certainty that both the U.K. and EU will therefore ratify the Brexit deal by the end of next month, opening the door for negotiations on a new free trade agreement. European Council President Charles Michel said the EU27 were ready for the negotiations to come over a trade deal. “We are ready for the next steps. We will see if it is possible for the British parliament to accept the Withdrawal Agreement, and to take a decision,” he told reporters at the EU leaders gathering Brussels.
The only dark spot for the Conservatives is in Scotland, where the party looks likely to lose most of its 13 MPs in an excellent night for the Scottish National Party.
This, combined with the fact that Johnson’s Brexit deal is set to lead to checks on goods crossing the Irish sea, suggests that the coming years are likely to put a considerable strain on the union between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Hard Brexit would cost public finances £80bn, says secret analysis

A no-deal Brexit would blow an £80bn hole in the public finances, with the leave-voting heartlands of the north-east and West Midlands worst affected, according to new detail from the government’s own secret economic analysis.
The Guardian has learned that the secret papers, which assess the economic impact of leaving the bloc, predict that if there is no deal, the government will need to borrow £120bn more over the next 15 years.
The report suggests that the north-east would face a 16% hit to regional economic growth, and the West Midlands 13%. And it claims that a hard Brexit would mean an overall 21% rise in retail prices, with a 17% rise in food and drink costs.
The additional borrowing costs would be mitigated by £40bn of gains from leaving the EU, including £11bn in saved payments, leaving £80bn in net costs. Of this, £55bn can be put down to the impact of non-tariff barriers, which could include regulatory divergence or quotas.
However, one source who has seen the original documents cast doubt on the projected £40bn gains, which they said had been calculated by estimating the potential benefits of slashing regulation, including on the environment, which the government has said it will not do.
The revelations came as Theresa May’s 11-strong Brexit inner cabinet held the first of two meetings on successive days to thrash out a series of key issues. However, senior government sources said the first gathering, intended to discuss the Northern Ireland border situation, had made little progress.
On Thursday the same committee, comprising May and most of her senior ministers, among them Philip Hammond, Amber Rudd, Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Gavin Williamson, was expected to discuss a future trade relationship with the EU.
The detail of the studies comes after the papers were leaked to Buzzfeed last week. The analyses found Brexit would leave the UK worse off under three possible scenarios: a comprehensive free trade deal, single market access and no deal at all.
Brexit impact by region
The document was meant to be shown confidentially to cabinet ministers but the Commons Speaker, John Bercow, ordered its release to MPs last week after Labour won a Commons vote on the issue. MPs are now able to view the documents in a confidential reading room.
MPs who have seen the documents said they showed every region of the UK would be affected negatively whatever the deal.
The report shows the north-east would lose 16% of regional economic growth, the West Midlands 13%, and the north-west and Northern Ireland 12%. London, where 60% of the population voted to remain, will be the least affected by leaving the EU whatever deal is eventually reached, the report said.
Northern Ireland would be the third worst affected, but the studies did not model the impact of a hard border, one source who has seen the paper told the Guardian.
The question of how to avoid a hard border in the region was among the subjects of the two-hour Brexit subcommittee meeting, but senior government sources said little movement had been achieved.
Hammond, the chancellor, reportedly sparked concern among pro-Brexit colleagues at the meeting by urging them to agree to all of the EU27’s demands on a transitional period, in order to get a deal finalised as quickly as possible and reassure businesses.
The former Lib Dem leader Tim Farron, a supporter of the pro-remain campaign Best for Britain, said: “Project Fear has just become Project Colossal Understatement. These are the government’s own figures and in every respect they depict a weaker, poorer Britain where those regions that voted most heavily to leave are those that will suffer the most. Britain has been badly betrayed by Mrs May. No one voted for this mess.”
Regional economic growth in Northern Ireland is projected to fall by 12% in a “no deal” scenario if the UK ends up trading on World Trade Organisation terms, the document says. A free trade agreement would see growth in Northern Ireland fall by 8% and by 2% if the UK stayed in the single market and customs union.
The south-west, Yorkshire and the south-east are judged to be the least likely to be affected, as well as the capital. Scotland faces a reduction in regional economic growth of up to 9% under a no-deal outcome, reduced to a loss of 2.5% if the UK stays in the European Economic Area.
The SNP MP Peter Grant said the figures made for “utterly grim reading” and the government should now publish the paper in full. “The leak underlines the case that remaining in the single market and customs union is the only way to minimise that economic harm,” he said.
The Liberal Democrat Brexit spokesman, Tom Brake, said it was striking how the two regions predicted to suffer most from all projected scenarios were ones that voted most heavily for Brexit. “Now the facts are known, the people are entitled to a vote on the deal and a chance to exit from Brexit,” he said.
Labour’s Stephen Doughty, a supporter of the pro-single-market Open Britain campaign, said: “It is utterly shameful that people all across this country are having to rely on leaks to find out how much damage a hard, destructive Brexit will do to their local economies and the country as a whole.”
The document also projects prices would soar because of non-tariff barriers if talks were to break down with the EU, resulting in a no-deal scenario.
The report is understood to predict an additional 21% rise in retail prices, an 18% rise in agricultural costs, a 17% rise in food and drink costs and 14% rise in motor vehicles and parts, over the 15 years post-Brexit. It predicts that if the UK were to trade under WTO terms, tariffs could mean food and drink prices increase by an additional 12.7%, sources said.
The analysis says the government could consider not retaliating with tariffs of its own in the event of a no-deal scenario, in order to keep prices down for UK consumers.
Farron, who is the Lib Dems’ environment spokesman, said that would be devastating for British farmers who would face being undercut. “If the government fails to get non-tariff access to Europe, it is actively planning to cave in and give European farmers free access to our market,” he said. “This will be a colossal blow to our farming industry and our countryside. They must be stopped.”
Sources said the document also analysed the impact of future trade deals, projecting that a free trade agreement with the US would mean just an 0.2% boost to GDP at best.
A government spokesperson said:“This document does not represent government policy and does not consider the outcome we are seeking in the negotiations.
“As ministers clearly set out in the House, this is provisional internal analysis, part of a broad ongoing programme of analysis, and further work is in progress.
“We are seeking an unprecedented, comprehensive and ambitious economic partnership - one that works for all parts of the UK. We are not expecting a no deal scenario.”

Everton's Nikola Vlasic Admits He Wanted Barkley's No.8 Shirt & That No.19 Was Kept for Diego Costa

Everton's Nikola Vlasic Admits He Wanted Barkley's No.8 Shirt & That No.19 Was Kept for Diego Costa
Everton striker Nikola Vlasic has admitted that he wanted Ross Barkley's No.8 shirt having joined from Hajduk Split in the summer.
The 20-year-old also revealed that he was denied the No.19 shirt because it was being saved for the potential arrival of Diego Costa.
The Spanish forward instead ended up agreeing a deal with Atletico Madrid, leaving Everton without a true replacement for Romelu Lukaku and Vlasic with the No.27 shirt.
Mike Hewitt/GettyImages
"No.27 was free, I wanted 8 but Ross Barkley wears it, while the club was keeping 19 for Diego Costa," the Croatia international told 24sata.
Vlasic has so far made eight appearances for the Toffees, scoring once in a disappointing start to the campaign for the club.
Ronald Koeman was dismissed after last weekend's 5-2 defeat against Arsenal, and Vlasic has expressed his regret at the Dutchman's departure.
OLI SCARFF/GettyImages
“I’m sorry that Koeman got sacked, because he bought me and we had a really good relationship, but that’s football,” he added.
“Everton is a great club for young players like Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman, Tom Davies, me. We all get chances; I’m satisfied.
“In the Premier League, it’s easiest when you have the ball at your feet. And the hardest thing to do is to play against a team that breaks you down with their rhythm, like Arsenal.
youtube
“I haven’t had a chance to play against all of the strongest teams, only Arsenal, and I was impressed by Alexis Sanchez.
“Ozil is great, but Sanchez is impossibly fast, strong, always creating, turning and moving.”
