Folklore Sentai Yokaiger!!

i’d been wanting to make fan-sentai OCs for a while now, and i had the idea to make the theme cryptids or monsters from folklore! to make it extra fun, i made them all from various regions, and the corresponding member is from the same region as their cryptid :3

full reference for what cryptids they are is under the cut!! along with more infodumping lol

Red - Asia - Kirin (Asahi Noro) (he/him)

Blue - Europe - Loch Ness Monster (Meryl Kirkwood) (she/her)

Yellow - Latin America - Chupacabra (Ina Yahari) (she/her)

Black - North America - Mothman (Jett Carey) (he/him)

Pink - Africa - Grootslang (Amari Hart) (she/her)

Green - Japan - Kappa (Eiko Kanai) (they/them)

my idea for this is that everyone except Asahi and Eiko are expats living in Japan, and they all meet through something like a reddit or discord forum for expats in the specific city they’re in, and they all begin exchanging folk tales of cryptids. Asahi is classmates with Meryl at grad school, and she brings him into their friend group. and once theyre all acquainted, Something Happens to give them all their suits/ they get attacked by the motw/ etc lol. havent figured it all out :p

since theyre all from the same region as their cryptid, i suppose i’ll get more specific.

Asahi and Eiko are obviously from Japan, still havent decided what region tho. Meryl is from Scotland, Ina is from Mexico (admittedly shes more representative of Central America bc of this but i really wanted the chupacabra to be included lol), Jett is from the Appalachian region of the US, and Amari is from South Africa.

i also already have some character dynamics cookin for them, so absolutely keep checking my blog for more posts about these guys!!

SENTAI OCS YEAH

Hey guuuuys! I made Super Sentai ocs because I'm obsessed!!! Their group name is Kettou Sentai Dracanger (けっとう戦隊ドラケンジャー Kettō Sentai Dorakenjā) and i will be uploading their profiles invidually and i'll may tell some about the plot of the story if people care enough!! idc!!!

Do the actirangers battle monsters of the week and if so have you designed/posted any?

They don't come up much but I have a general concept that since the Rangers and the Gambit Gang are all based on games (sports / chess) the monsters of the week would all be based on like, playground activities / kids games as a recurring theme.

Not to say the Rangers might not encounter other types of enemies or foes, it's a big universe. But these were fun to doodle up!

Made a showa rider OC :) I don't have much on her backstory yet but she's a cyborg (obviously). She's based on a praying mantis because it's my favorite bug and also she's from the mid-80s. It was really fun making an Ishinomori style design lol

Power Rangers Hexamania - Kingohger Adaption

We can all dream of a Kingohger adaption for Power Rangers but it will likely never happen, not for now at least. So I decided to make OC counterparts as if a season was made like in the post from yesterday. Starting with Himeno’s.

Like the originals, these characters have name schemes based on bugs. So the name I thought of is.

Theidora’s is derived from the Idolomantis Diabolica with Idol being fixed into "Idora" which is her nickname but also a part of the full name. Theodora means divine gift and she looks excellent just like Himeno, Empolo the last name,comes from the family genus of mantises being Empusidae and the term Empress. As for her outfit well I decided to take lots of elements from the original rangers while making new designs in order to keep the style👌🏾💛✨

An ultra married an Alien Mefilas?! Meet Stolas Mefilas and Ultrawoman Rouge along with their daughter, Milena. They have a very lovey-dovey relationship with them being a power couple, starting one of the Nebula M78 biggest entertainment company, Giga Satsu.

Ultrawoman Rouge (an Ultra from V393) A renowned ultra actress and singer from all around the galaxy! A very mature, yet elegant ultra who's presence steals everyone else's spotlight when she performs. But off stage, she's quite a slobby person and a big foodie trying out different types of cuisines in the galaxy. In her spare time, she does Mukbang videos and dragging Stolas in some of her food ventures. Currently she resides in Land of Light (LoL) as a singer. She started her career from being a gravure model and a adult actress in her planet. A few years later, she met Stolas in the entertainment industry.

Stolas Mefilas

He comes from a noble family, and the Founder and Manager of Giga Satsu. Like any other Mefilas', he detests violence and is a courteous gentleman. But don't be deceived by his good looks since he's quite fond of Rouge being a slob and they have a very uncouth love life. Stolas started his journey by working in different jobs than invading planets since he doesn't want to be an invader like some Mefilas'. Years later, he met Rouge in a AV shoot that started their relationship. He's really dedicated with the company by following the law and give the workers the freedom of their rights if they don't want to take certain projects in the entertainment industry.

[How Seven announced Akari's existence to Zoffy.]

Seven, to Zoffy and Jack: So, what if hypothetically, I told you I fathered a half-human daughter back on Earth but I had no idea about it cos she and her mother got spirited away to alternate Earth where the world is a dystopian crap sack with kaiju running amuck and humans hunting them for food?

Jack: Are you telling us that?

Seven:....

[Cut to Zero, Zoffy, Jack and Seven looking down at Akari who is in her human size ultra form like.]

[Zoffy and Jack stare down at the tiny ultra teen baffled it was while before anyone spoke up.] (Red letters mean they're speaking in Ultra)

Jack:*Ahem* Well....Erm, she's has your... eyes?

Seven: ...Thanks.

Akari: What did that big one say?

Zero: That's our uncle Jack and he says you have our dad's eyes.

Akari: Oh...is the guy with the bumps on his chest is our uncle too?

Zero: Those are stars and no. That's Zoffy. He's our boss... kind of.

[Zoffy observing Zero translate for Akari.]

Zoffy: She can't understand us?

Zero, can tell Zoffy is royally peeved: Er...For now.

Zoffy: Good.~ *Slaps Seven upside the head* WHAT IN THE FRAK WERE YOU THINKING, SEVEN?! YOU STUPID MOTHER F-

[Akari flinches as Zoffy starts yelling at Seven for five minutes while Zero and Jack takes a few nervous steps back from them, whatever this Zoffy guy was saying must've been terrifying cos both Jack and Zero were shaking by the time he was done.]

Zoffy, to Akari: What's your name?

Akari: Akari. Akari Yuri.

Zoffy: Right...Stay out of trouble.

Akari: No.

Jack: 😨

Zero: 😐

Zoffy, feeling a headache coming on: Noa's will, you really are his child...

Akari: What did he say?

Seven: Er, he said you take after me...

Back by popular demand... I wanted to do some Ishinomori-inspired doodles and then i found a cool marker brush so I went ham with that as well :)

Also I added her to artfight! I named her Kamen Rider Bio because it's short for "bionic"

Extra lore and stuff under the cut

My (very minimal) lore for her is that she has amnesia right after she gets borged so she has to use disguises to hide herself until she can figure out how to detransform... I love the trope where a character pulls off one article of clothing and it removes their whole disguise it's very funny

Her cyborg form is based on a mantis, so a lot of it is built from organic materials, and some of her powers and behaviors are also based on a mantis's, hence "bio"/bionic. I made a little labeled ref because it's fun coming up with names for all the parts.
