the episode concept hybridizes two episodes– season 1′s TP Mummy with ree’s character reveal and the plungerina concept seen in season 2, except she was retooled to be erica’s monster of the week form instead. we imagined this coming around later in the season– even to the point of having her be the final monster of the week kid in the first season.

the general idea was that, throughout the season erica has been built up as this kid who grew up too fast. whenever the big plot of the day happens, she’s usually off to the side doing her work. unlike melvin, she does this out of necessity because she wouldn’t have the time at home.

For your CU Genderswap AU

Who does the rest of tetocu cast become with their genders flipped around? And how would the Camoflush episode even work?

I don't remember how many characters I gender swapped besides the main characters, the classmates, and a few key adult characters. There's also the matter of trying to keep the play on words when it comes to names (Though Jerry might become 'Jerri' to keep that one pun). Meaner might just switch names and genders with his sister (and said sibling is still trans, because I still headcanon that).

The Camoflush storyline would be no different. I imagine Ree's first name 'Toilette' would still be the same and Lavatore would become 'Laterine' to keep the bathroom joke. Also Major Messy/Camoflush would be a buff, muscular woman that looks as if she could crush a skull in her grasp but wouldn't because she's a sweetheart.

What's up with our friendly neighborhood janitor (aka Mr. Ree)?

in tetocu23, the changes made were less outright going from scratch as it was reorganizing a bit of his arc, plus giving him a girlfriend as a bonus.

Ree debuts in Erica's monster of the week episode (read this post by one of the AU creators for further details on that).

Ree used to be okay with Melvin. Then Melvinborg took over the school. Needless to say, he couldn't look at Melvin the same way ever again. It only worsened when the second half of the season rolled around.

I'll probably reorganise his plot a little to do this, but after that his plotline progresses like canon, with the big differences being Erica being his protege, Ree being a bit shy and getting a confidence boost after Vil Endenemys takes over the school.

Other than that, he's the same ol' badass janitor. He'd still have his first name, Toilette. He'd still have his brother, Lavatore.

And he has something else.

Meet Ms. Clarissa Mystery. She's the mysterious new history teacher at Jerome Hortiz. Not much is known about this lady. Her pupils both adore and fear her.

COOL AS ICE CLARISSA HAS BEEN ALL OVER THE WORLD, KNOWS ALL THE BEST BANDS, AND IS COMICALLY INDIFFERENT. She's dating Mr. Ree.

She became Ree's research partner after Lavatore quit.

She takes Dante as in her protege, and teaches him to be a detective!

Clarissa is very quiet, which… has been known to stifle her relationships, to put it lightly.

For example, the river of mid that are her interactions with Cash. whatever relationship that could have been budding between them has become strained.

Clarissa kinda hates Lavatore for quitting.

She’s not too happy about the situation with Melvinborg, to put it lightly.

While she and Ree have kissed sporadically (they did five kisses over the course of a six year period), Ree has stated that he has no intention of breaking up with Clarissa. Their kiss is actually very low in his priority list.

The tetocu23 version of the Splotch episode is basically just like canon tetocu… save for one change. Clarissa gets possessed by Splotch instead of Mr. Ree.

Understandably, Ree spends the entire episode mad. The episode goes mostly the same way as canon, but Hazel also tries to join the society of robes.

Friends with Alice and Bluebell (despite the drama teacher being evil).

Me at first: So... you're actually adding some tetocu stuff in the AU. Too bad any of said stuff WILL BARELY EVER BE MENTIONED...

Speaking of season 3, if lavatore and toilette make small appearances, are you planning on copying and pasting the horrible things the original season 3 did to the janitor and his brother? Ree and Major Messy were done so dirty... I think you know one episode in particular I'm talking about *shudders*

ah yeah i did say that about the show didnt i??? well that was a pretty early post and has practically been retconned!!! so yes melvinborg is canon but we do not have a story arc or anything for him yet!!! (his name is skborg and he's just melvinborg if he got therapy) the kids in the show are in fact canon as well!!! erica, gooch, bo, all of them are canonly students there. as for cash....i dunno what to do with him yet, but rest assured, he still exists in the au even if i have no idea where to put him yet and for lavatore and toilette, they do in fact still have that long-lost brother story arc, but it's done less dirty thanks to HRI or the prequel to the au (at least i hope it's done less dirty)
