the thing about the queer media tournament that really gets me is that last i checked there wasn't a single mxtx work on it. like not even the untamed made it in and don't get me wrong the og mo dao zu shi books are huge but cql is def more popular among tumblr circles. idk it just really rubs me the wrong way how every single piece of western media that ppl have ever gotten a lil bit aggressive abt shipping with is there and then for east asian media there's utena and madoka magica and the handmaiden and last i checked that was pretty much it. and then for the rest of the world there's next to/nothing but idk enough to really make judgements there.

Requested, shopping sprees with Jack or just shopping with him in general.

“How many more stores baby? We’ve been shopping all day I didn’t even know you could shop this much.” He sighed and huffed but nonetheless followed behind you.

Jack decided to take you on a little shopping spree before the two of you left the house you told him that the only rule for today was that he couldn’t complain but he still managed to break that rule.

“Are you complaining? And what did you expect you said you were taking me on a shopping spree so obviously ima get things that I need.” You told him.

“And things you don’t need like do you really need more skims? and more makeup? You have so much already!” He complained. You glared at him and rolled your eyes.

“We just need to stop at target and then we can get some food because I’m getting hungry.” Jack picked up a bit at the mention of target.

“Let’s get going then I think we stopped at every store in the mall.” He said and the two of you made your way outside to the car.

Luckily Target was only a few feet away from the mall so you both made it there within five minutes you took a shopping cart while Jack took the lead.

“What are we getting from here?” He asked you. “Let me pull out my list.” He went to roll his eyes but stopped when he saw you looking at him.

“Is there an issue Harlow?” You said with squinted eyes. He raised his hands in defense. “Nope I don’t have an issue not at all baby, so what’s on your list?”

“We need toilet paper, bleach, we need to restock on some snacks and I think that’s about it.” You told him and you started to push the cart to the cleaning section.

As you were looking through all of the cleaning products Jack wandered off and ended up getting a shopping cart of his own, he figured if you were going to get what you wanted he was going to get what he wanted too.

“I think that’s all and I sticked to everything that was on the list.” You spoke to Jack but when he didn’t answer you looked up and that’s when you noticed he wasn’t there.

“What the hell.” You mumbled and went to find Jack. You tried calling him but he wasn’t answering.

“Jack!” You called out for him which earned you a few stares from other customers that were shopping.

“Jack! Where are you?!” You yelled out. “Over here!” He yelled back.

“What is he doing.” You mumbled and took your cart and followed where the sound of his voice came from. When you eventually made your way around the corner you had to pause at the sight In front of you.

There stood Jack at the register with a cart filled with a bunch of random things. “What the? What is all of this junk.” You asked him.

You walked to his cart and started moving things around all you saw was sweat pants and candies and chips and video games and a new Apple headphone set.

“My things.” He proudly stated with his chest puffed out the cashier that was ringing everything up chuckled at his response to you.

“And who said you can get all of this? I thought we came here to get what we needed.” Your hands were now on your hips if Jack wanted a challenge he was going to get one.

“Uh I did if you can go around all day buying whatever you want I can do the same thing baby.” You smacked your lips.

“Whatever Harlow you’re so childish sometimes.” He laughed. “I know you are but what am I.” He sassed back.

You rolled your eyes and went to the self checkout lane to check out everything you had gotten on your own.

After Target you both headed over to Pets Smart Jack needed to get a few things for Molly (fake dog name since he don’t wanna give up his actual dogs name.)

You coo’d at Molly has she fell asleep in your lap. “If I was a dog would you still love me?” You asked Jack.

“Hmm I don’t know I mean if you turned into a dog what would I even do with you? You’d be useless.” He covered his mouth with his hand to stop himself from laughing.

“Are you serious?” You stated. “That’s insane you know that if you were a dog I’d play with you and still love on you wouldn’t you want my love still if you turned into a dog?” You watched him intensely as if you were dating him to say the wrong answer.

“I get my love from Detroit like Skilla Baby so why would I need your love?” Your jaw flew open and Jack couldn’t help but to double over in laughter.

“I’m just joking baby I promise it’s a joke a little joke.” He chuckled as you rolled your eyes. “Whatever just hurry up and get the stuff for Molly because I’m hungry.”

When Jack was finally finished the two of you made your way over to McDonald’s it wasn’t the ideal meal but it put something in your stomach.

“You know I actually enjoyed today didn’t you?” You asked Jack and he nodded his head.

“Well my bank account might need to take a break for two or three days maybe even a month but I did have fun with you baby.” He joked and you shoved him.

“Thank you though I appreciated today.” You smiled and leaned over your seat to press a kiss to his cheek.

“You’re welcome baby, I love you.” “I love you too Jack.”

morning report of my hangover

I'm not gonna pretend this isn't hot but damn, hangovers can be brutal sometimes 😩 I wish I had a better chronicle of last night but unfortunately I can't remember anything and my roommate is out of town so wasn't there to make the Sunday report.

Pre-gamed before going out as usual, I like to be drunk enough that I can feel it but also that I'm perfectly able to hide it (save for a few tiny slips that may make people suspect something, maybe? Idk). At this point, I think a lot of people might consider me a much more joyful and silly girl that I actually am, only cause they don't know I'm not exactly sober when they meet me 😅 And yeah, of course they also consider me a lightweight. I'm so drunk after just a couple drinks and one or two beers! They don't know I've already had twice that at home.

Anyways, I've no idea how I got home last night. I have a cheerful feeling in my chest that I had a good time, but also some anxiety about having no idea what happened or what I'd do. I have a three text from my friends:

"Hungover much? 😝" from a guy I've met recently, friend of a friend from work

"Good morniiing! You good" from a girl friend.

"Text me when you get home pleeease" from another girl friend.

Haven't gathered the courage to reply to the first two, only texted the last one so they wouldn't worry, cause I definitely didn't text her when I got home last night.

So, there's vomit on the bathroom floor next to the toilet, as if I had totally missed the target. Unfortunately there are a couple smudges on my bed and my pyjamas. It's a nice surprise to be wearing my pyjamas, which makes me think someone brought me home? I'll have to make some inquiries later.

Anyways, I'm hungover as fuck unfortunately. The kind of hangover you have to hold to the walls and walk dragging your feet. I've puked before I had the chance to get anything in my stomach, which btw feels like shit. I'm nauseating just from being on this subreddit right now.

Why did they even make the remakes? Was it to 'fix' their current story to reuse the characters to assure more money? Like it an obvious, yes for the money, but what's up with the numbers and surveys? Why wasn't just remaster an option?

The early/mid 2010s were not a good time for Capcom. Like, I know that today, Capcom is one of the most trusted publishers in the AAA space, but that was not the case 10 years ago. 10 years ago, Capcom was what Blizzard is today (you know, without the whole "rape and suicide of female devs" thing)

SF5 released with on-disc DLC to massive controversy.

DMC4 flopped, and then DmC was an absolute disaster, with the director of that game openly trolling fans.

Monster Hunter had gone fully mobile and Capcom stopped releasing it in the West.

They canceled like 3 or 4 Megaman games and let the franchise die an undignified death.

Dead Rising got run into the ground with two horrible releases back to back.

And then RE6 happened.

Fans had been begging Capcom for an RE2 remake since the first REmake, and Capcom's answer has always been "no" "not gonna do it" "not a chance" "you already have Darkside Chronicles" "not now sweetie the grownups are talking" and finally "NO. STOP ASKING."

So, in 2015, when public opinion of the company was in the toilet and Capcom needed to stop the bleeding, Hirabayashi grabbed a hammer and smashed the "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY BREAK GLASS" window and dropped plans for an RE2 remake onto Capcom corporate's desk.

And it actually worked lmao

Hirabayashi's announcement video for RE2make was so sincere and so genuine and so earnest and so exciting that "WE DO IT!!!!!" became a rallying cry across the industry, and everyone forgot for a while just how much they distrusted Capcom. I can't recall a single person going "lmao modern Capcom remaking RE2 LOOOOL"

The RE2make announcement was the start of Capcom's redemption arc. It was something they needed to do to signal to fans "we're listening and we want to do better."

Because I can't find any kind of origin, and surprisingly Fanlore doesn't have a article about it (as far as I checked maybe I didn't search well?). I just found and know that it's used for kinda old and relatively new fandoms, thanks to a two-year-old Reddit post.

For anyone who doesn't get/know about the '-bowl' sufix: is basically an All × One thing. For example, if you encounter 'Dekubowl' this means that Deku, the character, is shipped with everyone or that at least everyone else have a crush with Deku.

I can only think of the 'Super Bowl' (just as one comment in that Reddit post suggest) for its origin, but when we talk about Fandom culture we never know. It could have originated from anything no-related to the Super Bowl, LOL.

It's not surprising Fanlore doesn't have this if it's coming from BNHA or somewhere similar. Fanlore is fantastic on the history of Western "Media Fandom", zines, K/S, etc. It's much weaker in areas that OTW early adopters haven't spent as much time in.

You should write the -bowl article yourself!

I went into AO3's tag search and looked for 'bowl'. I found 1311 tags, 90 of them canonicals.

I'm seeing a ton of references to the Super Bowl, dust bowl AUs, pet play with pet food bowls, Dream in the fishbowl, unending uses like "I'm crying into my bowl of cereal as I write this", "bowl of honey nut feelios", "bowl of pornflakes", "me shaking the food bowl of sbi wilbur-centric angst: come get y'all's juice", etc., and plenty of references to YOI katusdon bowls. Lots of fandoms and episodes have 'bowl' in their titles.

Zeroing in on more related things, I'm seeing BNHA over and over and not much else...

EXCEPT!

Fruit bowls!

I see scattered references to "let's add him into that whole fruit bowl" and "the whole fruit bowl is here" and so on. Some of them are crack fic where everyone is a banana, but a lot of them seem to be a metaphor for "everything together".

Okay, I just spent far too much time trying to categorize tags. Out of the 'bowl' ones, about a third appear to be this kind of sense (counting by number of tags, not number of works).

Game of Thrones has a bunch, but they refer (as far as I know) to which characters will hypothetically kill each other and emerge victorious, not to group shipping.

Some tags I found, like 'edelbowl' sounded more like a group ship than an X/everyone. I also found a scattering of tags that were like 'all of them in a bowl together', which is probably related.

But mainly, what I found is that this is from BNHA and it's recent.

I'm seeing a scattering of 'dekubowl' from 2017 and then other character tags taking off in like 2019. This is definitely a recent trend in terminology, at least on AO3.

Guide to our work

If you are trans, non-binary, autistic, amistic (ADHD), disabled, plural (of any type), and/or therian/otherkin/alterhuman and enjoy novels with science fiction style settings, you might really appreciate our stories! If you want to practice using neopronouns, we've also got you covered.

Below is a guide to what we've done so far:

Systems' Out! is our very first novel, and the one we're the most proud of. Its writing is very tight, and is ultimately the best, non-spoilery introduction to our world. It's about a couple of systems and their friends trying out a new accommodation for their various neurotypes and bringing about a kind of revolution in the process (or participating in it, in any case). This story is largely about fighting deadly dysphoria, and why one might even bother. But it's also about the responsibility parents have for their children.

Ni'a and Outsider are sequels to Systems' Out! and elaborate on the characters' lives, tell what happens after (or during) the revolution, and delves into the problems and ethical dilemmas inherent in the world we'd created. They are also about the journey of recovering from trauma, and how your community might help to do that (if your community were supportive).

Crew is officially the fifth book of the Sunspot Chronicles, and follows up on themes and questions that arise from the first three books. Specifically, it covers some of the prehistory of the Sunspot and the culture of the Crew, and some of what they do behind closed doors. But it also delves into personally dealing with amnesia, shifts in identity, dissociation, loss, and bigotry. The ending may be described as bitter sweet. It can be read out of order with the fourth book, which isn't written yet.

Blood in the Duff is the sixth book of the Sunspot Chronicles. It is part murder mystery and part polyamorous romance novel, or hopes to be. It can be read independently of the fourth book, but probably should be read after reading the other books, particularly Crew. It takes place 110 years after the events of Systems' Out! and references many social and technological developments that come after. It features the return of Ralf, Morde's tutor, though! And is covering aspects of daily life and Sunspot biology we hadn't covered in the other books, including toilets. You want to read about Sunspot toilets, right? Seriously, we're pretty proud of this one. We've put more physical planning into it than any of the other books.

The Adventures of Molly Rocketcoil is a politically driven pulp sci-fi serial written by two of the characters from Ni'a and Outsider. It's fictional within the context of the above canon, meant to address the issues that the people aboard the Sunspot are facing at the end of that series. It's also an exploration of the drive to reproduce, alien relations, and comparing radically different cultures and personal development. It involves warp drive and exploring the rest of the galaxy, but with the effects of relativity still intact.

Even further from the canon, but a great introduction for anyone who wants something familiar, Star Trek Mercury: Two-Way Mirror Mountain is our one and only fanfic! It has the least use of neopronouns, and is a totally non-canon speculation of what might happen if the Sunspot buzzed Earth and the Kelvin time-line Federation. It's a sequel to a role playing game we played, and is written in first person perspective from the three members of a system who are captain of the U.S.S. Mercury. It includes a model for how we think the Federation would (or should) accommodate plurality.

It's totally OK if you read Molly Rocketcoil or Star Trek Mercury first. They are also perfectly fine entrypoints into our stories. They'll reveal some plot twists from the earlier books, but they don't explain in detail how we got there or what happens after, so they don't really spoil the stories. Also, everything is written from various different perspectives of unreliable narrators that have then been (canonically) translated loosely by a somewhat irresponsible publishing company, so a certain amount of interpretation and speculation is left up to you.

In an alternate universe, where the Ktletaccete are actually spirits called simply Artists, and are native to Earth and not aliens, we now have @girldragongizzard, the story of Meghan Estragon Draconis. A 50 year old trans woman who, after a night of fitful dreams, awoke to find herself transformed into a dragon. Which came as no great surprise to her, because she's always known she was a dragon. Pure therian wish fulfillment with a touch of chaos. girldragongizzard is the official sequel to our old unfinished webcomic Harmless Free Radicals, but reading that comic is completely unnecessary.

Completely outside of canon, but tangentially related, are our series of writing-prompted tumblr fics, Crime-Cat and the Deliverator. You will read almost nothing about the Sunspot or our system by reading these stories! But, you will encounter gay, non-binary villains full of queerness and super gayness. The Earth does undergo a bit of destruction. Just a bit. But that kind of happens sometimes when it's overrun by people with superpowers. And it is written in second person, because most of the prompts we used were presented in that way. If you enjoy imagining yourself to be a non-binary gay monster from outer space entering the world of supervillains, and having the cutest human partner you can imagine, this is absolutely the story for you. Also, "Kepekapean" is really just another word for Ktletaccete, but shsh.

Thought I'd post about some of the films I watched at the Mumbai Film Festival last year! (Yes, three of these are black-and-white, sue me)

Which Colour?

dir. Shahrukhkhan Chavada

Chronicling 24 hours in the life of a Gujarati Muslim family, I really enjoyed its greyscale panorama of life experiences across ages. There's a little more to it, but I don't want to spoil what that is.

I was particularly enamoured by the scenes of children roleplaying, as well as the point-and-click adventure game style shots. Just such a solid debut film weaving through poverty, desire, pride, and familial love.

The Battle

A series of long takes following various characters entangled in a soon-to-be-violent student agitation against right-wing fascist forces.

This was my favourite film of the festival, and I had the honour of telling the director that as I shook her hand after the screening. It's raw, has excellent camerawork, and the tension of the film's narrative left me spellbound and breathless.

Perfect Days

The very tranquil days of a Tokyo public toilet cleaner, who is living his best life by simply relishing the mundaneness of life. More turbulent lives weave in and out of his life, leaving both parties changed.

This film grew on me massively as I spent days thinking about it, and now I'm convinced it's one of the most classic films I've seen. It's beautifully shot, meditative, and even inspiring in a very quiet kind of way. Just go in with some patience.

Fremont

An ex-translator Afghan immigrant to the USA fights boredom and stagnancy as searches for work and love in her new life.

It's got an unforgettable main character and dry humour a plenty, leaving me so engrossed that I wish this film was twice as long as it was. Just a really sweet, informed, and humanistic.
