I dislike that the recent reveal has led to some people calling Kiana K-423, so they can call Bianka Kiana instead. They both already have names you know?

do we know what honkai beast each flamechaser has in them?
Not every single one but for quite a few!
Kevin has genes from the Emperor-class Honkai beast Parvati, the boss in MA and the Honkai beast Theresa killed when she was only 1 year old. Parvati has ice powers thus all the red/black ice Kevin uses and the -30°C body temperature.

My #1 post of 2022
You know about those? I have so many questions...would you be willing to expand on that chart?
The post in question, in case anyone missed it.
I'll just go down the list and start explaining every one I know in a sentence or two.
Welcome everyone to busghost explains the joke.
The first box is pretty self explanatory. Lobby 1 belongs in hell though. I once saw somebody say "use my tongue as your toilet paper" and that's the quality of statements said in Lobby 1 NA.
The Second Box begins getting a little more interesting.
Brilliant Light Fu Hua: there's a scene in the bunny girl video where Senti temporarily takes over Hua's body and feels up her own ass.
Dvalin: has a cameo in chapter 17 when Otto looks across the multiverse.
I dunno daily accounts, maybe it means playing every day.
LE/HoT/HoF Armada support: You always set your friend support as one of them because they give MASSIVE starting sp to people, unconditionally in LE's case.
Theres'a creation: This is just the Theresa Chronicle. She's a clone of Kallen with genes from the Honkai beast Vishnu. Otto was trying one of his many schemes to get Kallen back.
Genshin Appropriation: Genshiners™ only care about Honkai for the bare minimum it can provide them with Genshin Theories, don't actually know/care about the story, and treat it like a stupid little side game to the Holy Relic that is Genshin. "DAE HIMEKO IS DILUC'S MOM???" "OMG DILUC IS A COOLER HIMEKO" You've probably heard these phrases before.
Idk what the Otto homophobia is, probably people who think that Otto wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with Kallen and ignored the fact that she's gay. That opinion kinda misses out on all the nuance of Otto and Kallen's relationship.
Kiana flies herself to the Moon: I mean, she does. Characters do it a few times actually. Also Fly Me 2 the Moon was Mihoyo's first game and it's main character is Kiana.
The Day You Vanished with the Stars: The event that has broken everyone's hearts by making you watch the Captain try to save Kongming over and over and endlessly failing. A really good event, most people's favorite in the Captainverse.
"She will never forget the promise to go to the beach with her friend": Bronya promised to take Seele to the sea but then Seele got quantized and trapped in the Sea of Quanta. Very sad, won't be fulfilled for years.
The Third Box
A-303: Theresa is clone serial number A-310. Otto made her fight A-303 but Theresa refused to kill her. A-303 grows up to become Amber. (idk why she grows up and Teri doesn't, or why Amber is a cyborg)
Fu Hua's taxes: this a great meme from tumblr where somebody asked how/if Fu Hua would pay taxes all the way at Mt. Taixuan. https://busghost.tumblr.com/post/665322989875806208/well-the-answer-is-simple-does-fu-hua-legally
APHO Project Bunny: Project Bunny 19C has retired in APHO so Bronya gets a new gun from Theresa and she names it Project Bunny 0019
Schicksal is the Catholic Curch: I mean that's exactly what it says. The leader is an Archbishop, the Valkyries used to dress like nuns. There are crosses everywhere and Kallen mentions that they're supposed to follow the "Good Book" a name for the Bible. They also talk about "holy" this and that and there are churches everywhere. This makes it VERY funny that Schicksal's cover story in the modern day is as a religious charity/ idol company that calls their idols Valkyries.
Unfinished stories is to general for me say anything about, I'm certain there are unfinished/abandoned plots in Honkai.
Lesbian Jesus: After Kallen dies people start regarding her as the Holy Maid who died for our sins to save everyone... Sound similar to certain Christian religious figure?
Joachim Nokianvertanen: The name Welt Yang was given by his parents. He adopted the Name Welt after taking up the responsibilities of being the Herrscher of Reason. Yang is his mother's maiden name.
Honkai Tumblr: You are here.
Fetus Mobius: not 100% sure but Mobius spoke her first words minutes after being born, so that's pretty funny. The question is also posed that if Mobius died enough times will she revert all the way back to a fetus?
Adam x Mei/Bronya shippers exist: self explanitory and gross! they really did go "unlesbians your gays". Also Adam is a minor.
Durandal's Age: the origins of Bianka are known now but before the only thing we knew about Bianka's age was that Jan 1st, 2000 was a placeholder since she had no memories. This led to plenty of people calling Rita a pedophile for being in a relationship with, even though Bianka is clearly not 16-17. It's over now, We know how old she is, 19 nearly 20.
Fourth Box
Kiana B: Bianka is the original Kiana. Rearrange the letters in Bianka and it spells Kiana B. The other Kiana...

Opening the Secrets of Emergency Drainage Solutions A Guide for Quick Solutions
"Life can be unpredictable, and an uncleaned drainage system is no exception to that fact. Imagine hosting a dinner celebration when suddenly, your sink turns into an actual swimming pool - you panicked as to what emergency drainage you should do! Don't fret though as we provide emergency drainage tips and how you can navigate turbulent waters more smoothly."
What Is an Emergency Drainage Issue?
Understanding Emergency Drainage Services When water doesn't disappear into its pipes as expected, it becomes much more than an inconvenience; it's an emergency in plumbing! From overflowing toilets to persistently full sinks, here we outline signs that indicate immediate attention is necessary.
Ripple Effect
Drainage Issues requiring immediate attention can have disastrous repercussions and cause far-reaching damage that goes beyond surface damage. Here, we explain the hidden dangers posed by drainage problems left unsolved for too long and emphasise their significance of prompt action being taken now.
Emergency Water navigation DIY tips and tricks:
Plunger Chronicles When used properly, plungers can transform you into an instant plumber's hero! We teach techniques for mastering this ancient method for minor drainage issues.
The Dexterity of DIY Drain Snakes For more adventurous DIY
Drain snakes can be game changers. Learn the secrets of this tool's versatility as I guide you through its use and potential hazards. Chemical Chemistry Baking Soda and Vinegar Sometimes home solutions can be lifesavers. When to Call Professionals for Assistance:
Emergency Drainage Services of Professional Intervention Certain situations call for professional intervention, and here we outline the three Cs that should help guide your selection: capability, certification and Customer Reviews to make the appropriate choice when choosing an emergency drainage service provider.
New Technologies at Play Plumbing have advanced substantially over time.
In the modern era, plumbing goes beyond drain snakes and plungers - learn about how the experts in emergency drainage utilise cutting-edge technologies such as high-pressure jetting and CCTV inspections to revolutionise how emergency situations are dealt with. Preserving Leak-Free Living
As we draw to an end our investigation of emergency drainage situations, it becomes evident that proactive actions and intelligent decision-making are the keys to an efficient plumbing system. No matter whether it is DIY-related or professional assistance required to address emergency drainage issues effectively and ensure leak-free living spaces for homes around you. As part of emergency drainage grand tapestry, understanding how to deal with emergency drains is an art that provides both convenience and security. Equipped with information and a plunger you'll be able to navigate your way through plumbing issues with ease - hoping for a house in which drains flow effortlessly and plumbing emergencies become something from the past!
Benefits of Fast Emergency Drainage Solutions:
Preserving Property Value:
Early intervention to respond to flooding emergencies can prevent further water damage while simultaneously protecting the value and integrity of your house. Water issues in your home can lead to structural damage, the growth of mould and even deterioration if left unaddressed for too long. By responding swiftly and efficiently when drainage emergencies arise, your home will be protected from these harmful impacts and costs can be kept to a minimum in the long run.

STEAM NEXT FEST DEMO THOUGHTS
>Last Command Nier Automata x Undertale (and that snake game you used to play on old phones). I like how little messages appear during battles that show you what the enemy's thinking. OST is also a banger, really looking forward to this one
>Melatonin Rhythm game where you have to rely on mostly environmental queues to keep in time with the beat. Has a really good tutorial and once you get a feel of it you feel like god
>Super Bullet Break This is what I imagine gacha games are like sans the predatory practices. Pretty fun card battler, gives me PSP/Vita era JRPG vibes
>Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara Cute platformer that plays like SM3DLand. Has fun movement but it's pretty simple. I like it though
>Cult of the Lamb Cute/dark roguelite. Not much to say about this one but I enjoyed it
>Pocket Wheels Anyone remember Toy Commmander? Seems a bit Unity™ but this could be something interesting if it's tightened up more
>Nine Sols 2D Sekiro from the guys who made Detention and Devotion - art's really nice and it looks like it's gonna have an interesting story
>Moonscars Wants to be Blasphemous so bad, nothing you haven't seen before if you're familiar with the genre
>Harmony's Odyssey Cute game where you help a witch do various tasks by doing simple mini games like spot-the-difference, switch puzzles, and the like
>Fashion Police Squad Been waiting for a retro fps to do something new! Highly recommend
>Turbo Golf Racing What if Rocket League was golf? Feels a bit floaty and performance is sketchy but I had a good time
>Railbound / The Last Worker / GOODBYE WORLD Not much to say about these but they're fun/interesting
>SIGNALIS Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill fans will like this
>The Cub Thought I recognized this. Turns out I played the prequel which was golf game. This one's a cinematic platformer though, good stuff so far. Reminds me a lot of Oddworld (the MC even sounds like Abe)
>CULTIC Another boomer shooter, this one's based mostly on Blood. Very solid
>Toilet Chronicles Imagine if Stanley Parable took place in one room?
>Ghostsong Another soulsvania, though this one leans more into Metroid than the rest. This gets a pass because I remember seeing this far before this subgenre was oversaturated
>Spirittea Stardew Valley but you're running a bathhouse for spirits. Really liked the little details on this one and the writing's good. Can't wait for the full game
>Master Key Kinda like a very scaled back and monochrome Tunic. Got my eyes on this.

(The Bad Batch) The Awkward Chronicles
(Author’s Note: Here is some wild Bad Batch content for you. I’m still not entirely sure why I did this, but I was sitting here laughing and blushing at this madness. I’m one of those people who gets embarrassed so easily, so this fic was a ride for me.
-We all have ideas on what it’d be like to live and fight with the Bad Batch. These are some short examples of the less glamorous things that can happen when you dwell with five males on a tiny ship-
Warnings: Some awkward situations, embarrassment, some crude humor, potty humor)
Link to The Sequel
You were walking down the hall, minding your own business, when it happened. The lights went out. As a matter of fact, it seemed that power in the entire ship was down. You were left stranded in the pitch black, feeling around for the wall for only a few seconds before a low hum sounded and the emergency lights came on.
The hall was cast in an eerie red light.
“Tech!” Hunter’s growl made you jump. That’s when you remembered; the last time you’d seen the Sergeant was when he excused himself to the refresher to take a shower. A loud bang sounded on the door just a few feet away from you. “Tech, what’s going on?”
Before you could respond, the door slid open, and a very disgruntled Hunter emerged. It was quite a sight. His long hair was damp and full of suds, some of which was falling into his eyes, and he wore a towel around his waist. He was trying to blink the soap from his eyes, and he must not have seen you there because he marched straight into you.
You yelped, hands shooting up instinctively to try and cushion the blow. They landed on his broad chest, and you shrunk away awkwardly. The dampness of his skin and the proximity was enough to make your face flare up. Embarrassment quickly took its toll. You were glad that the emergency lights were dim.
“__________?” Hunter asked in disbelief, swiping the back of his hand across his eyes. His grumpy demeanor was replaced with surprise.
“Um, yeah, it’s me,” you replied. “Sorry.”
“I’m the one who ran into you,” he said in amusement. He was right, but something about the situation just made you feel like you should apologize. Maybe it was the way you were trying so very hard to meet his eyes and not let your attention wander.
Funny enough, Hunter didn’t seem at all bothered by the situation. He continued to stand there unabashedly, eyes flickering past you. “Where’s Tech? Do you know what’s going on?”
“He was making repairs in the cockpit,” you said.
“Would’ve been nice if he at least waited until no one was using the shower,” he mumbled.
“Yeah, very true. Here, I’ll just…” You glanced at the floor, biting your lip. “I’ll, um, tell him to hurry up with the power.”
“Thanks,” Hunter nodded. He gathered up his damp hair which had started to drip more suds down his shoulder, and turned to head back into the refresher. You spun around and hurried toward the cockpit, ready to face-palm.
That image won’t stay burned into your mind or anything. Nope.
- - - -
You glared at the empty roll. It sat there tauntingly as your brain desperately thought of options to solve your current predicament.
If you really wanted to, you could pull your bottoms up just enough to shimmy out of the refresher and grab a new roll of toilet paper in the supply closet. It was a small ship, though, so there were a few things that could make the plan go awry. Someone could easily walk by and witness the unfortunate situation. Or worse, someone could be waiting for you to exit the refresher and slip in after you walk out the door.
Your best bet would be to see if someone could bring you a roll. Wrecker was the most ideal choice. He was likely the one who left you with an empty roll in the first place, and he was the most relaxed of the group about things like that. Not to mention you’d rescued him from the same situation a few times already. You could count on him cracking a joke and then just moving on.
Speaking of which, you heard his heavy footsteps going down the hall right then. Relief washed over you as you grinned and gave the refresher door a knock. “Wrecker! Can I ask a favor?”
“Sorry, ________! I’m moving something for Hunter,” he grunted. “Crosshair’s here though! He can help you out.”
Your smile faded.
Crosshair was not a bad guy, but to say that you weren’t exactly eager to ask him to get you toilet paper was an understatement. How could you bring yourself to ask the man and have him know your awkward situation?
“What do you need?” Crosshair’s smooth voice was muffled through the refresher door. You took a deep breath as you decided to take the plunge.
“I, uh, I need someone to grab toilet paper from the closet.”
It was dead silent on the other end for a minute, and you were inwardly cringing. Your heart was thumping wildly in your chest, and your face practically burned with shame.
“Isn’t there any under the sink?”
“Already checked,” you said. “Someone forgot to restock it.”
“That would be Wrecker.” He sighed in annoyance. “Give me a minute.” It felt like forever before you heard him knock on the door again. “I’m...I’m just going to leave it here.”
“Thanks,” you called through the door.
His footsteps faded away, and you cracked the door open just enough to snatch up the roll.
In hindsight, Crosshair had been pretty cool about the whole thing. You weren’t sure what to expect, but your wildest imagination had envisioned his tone being laced with disgust, or at the very least irritation toward you. Or maybe a snide comment. Even so, it didn’t do much to derail the embarrassment that had set in when you joined the others in the cockpit. You had a hard time looking Crosshair’s way for a while.
- - - -
Where could they be? You rested your hands on your hips, frustrated. You had searched every inch of your bunk for your boots to no avail. Hunter and Wrecker were waiting for you outside the ship to join them for a supply run. The only thing you could think of was that perhaps during the last crash-landing, they slid up to the front.
With a sigh, you typed up a quick message to Tech on your holopad. He was already up there working on one of the panels: maybe he could check.
Three dots appeared on the screen, which meant he was typing up a response. Then, they disappeared. They reappeared once more. Confused, you were about to head up to the cockpit anyway before a ping sounded on your device, alerting you of his response.
I take it you were asking about your boots. If that’s the case, then yes, they’re here up front.
Your brows furrowed. “What…? I did ask about boots. What does he think I wrote?” You scrolled up to see your original message, covering your mouth in shock.
It read: Tech, have you seen my booty?
You quickly typed up a response. Oh my gosh. Yes, I meant to say boots.
That explained his hesitant reply before. Your face heated up at the thought of the brainiac reading your typo and short-circuiting for a moment, being unsure of how to go about it. You choked back a laugh on your way up front to fetch your boots.
Tech was kneeling down beside the panel when you arrived.
“Heyy,” you greeted. He paused his work to lift his helmet. There was a hint of amusement in his gaze, and you could see the way he was fighting a smile.
“Hello, ________.”
“About earlier,” you grimaced.
He finally cracked a smile, chuckling. “No worries. These things tend to happen. I set your boots over there.” He nodded in the direction of the co-pilot seat. Face flushed, you grabbed your boots off the chair and pulled them on before heading out to join Hunter and Wrecker.
- - - -
“Alright,” Hunter shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Who was that?”
Everyone in the cockpit exchanged looks, some accusatory. Under normal circumstances, you’d think the whole thing was childish. But for someone with Hunter’s abilities, you sort of understood why every time someone passed gas, it became a game of “who did it?”
It was almost always Wrecker. Sometimes he’d admit it proudly, and other times he’d try and deny it. This time, it seemed, he was out for blood.
“It was __________,” he said. “I heard it.”
All eyes turned to you, including Hunter’s vexed expression. You glared at the largest Bad Batcher with your heart thumping in embarrassment. “Was not!”
The corner of his mouth twitched. A hint of a smile, though he quickly hid it. “Come on, _________. It’s bad enough that you disturbed Hunter’s ‘advanced senses.’” He quoted the phrase that he’d heard Tech throw around before. “But don’t try and cover it up.”
“It wasn’t me.” You replied in disbelief. Turning to Hunter, your eyes took on a more pleading look. “You’ve got to believe me.”
“You’re being awfully defensive,” Echo noted.
“Yeah, awfully defensive,” Wrecker repeated, nodding furiously. “Own up, ________. That one was really bad.”
You sighed. “This is silly. It wasn’t me, and you know it.”
“Maybe it was,” Crosshair shrugged. “And maybe it wasn’t.”
“Either way,” Hunter interrupted, shooting each of you a look. “I’ll ask all of you one more time. Try and hold off until we land, so I can leave.”
The cockpit fell into silence once more, and you turned around to take a seat in one of the passenger chairs, brooding over the situation. Wrecker shot you a cheeky grin, and you rolled your eyes, though you couldn’t help the smile that crept its way onto your features at his childishness.
- - - -
“__________, could you fetch me another wrench?” Tech asked, grunting as he pulled out a few wires from the opening in the wall. “I’m going to need it in a minute.”
Your eyes caught something shiny on the tool kit he had laid out on the floor of the cockpit. Kneeling down to pick it up, you shrugged. “You mean like this?” Tech glanced your way and shook his head.
“A smaller one.”
“Oh alright,” you sighed. “Be right back.” You moseyed your way out of the cockpit, taking your time because it was a slow day and there was no rush. It was unusual for the ship to be so quiet. That was most likely because Wrecker wasn’t on board. He went with Hunter and Crosshair to see the planet a little.
On your way back to the rest of Tech’s tools, you saw Echo making his way up front.
“How go the repairs?” he asked.
“Pretty good,” you said with a nod. Both of you had paused to converse for a moment in the hall. “I’m grabbing some more tools for Tech. Apparently the toolkit he brought up front doesn’t have the wrench he needs.”
Echo chuckled. “Well, good luck to you. I’ve got my own repairs to make, or else I’d help.”
“Well, thanks anyway.” You smiled.
“__________!” Tech called. “If I am to proceed, I will need that wrench.”
“One second!” you called back. Shrugging, you mumbled, “duty calls.” Echo and you both stepped aside so the other could pass by first. A few chuckles floated into the air, and before you knew it both of you were taking a step forward at the same time.
“Wow, okay, I’m sorry,” you said, feeling a little shy at the awkward close proximity. Both of you sidestepped, bringing your chests together again. Echo fidgeted a little with the contact. Heat flooded your cheeks at how you were so close you nearly kissed. Your friend rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Ah, sorry,” he mumbled. “Why don’t you just go ahead?” This time, he managed to take a step back and over against the wall, lighthearted laughter leaving his lips as you walked past.
“Sorry,” you told him again over your shoulder. As you walked away, you felt that familiar twinge of embarrassment. Poor Echo looked somewhere between amused and a little embarrassed himself. You were a little relieved to hear another laugh from him down the hall.

DNP Rewatch: FIRST LONDON APARTMENT TOUR!!1!
Date video was published: 04/05/2013 (X)
DNP Main Channel Rewatch: 175
Apartment tour! This was another of the videos people voted on at the end of DAN IS ON FIRE. This is going to be a long one.
0:02 - Dan does not look so thrilled about this, haha. And sarcastic Dan is out in full force.
0:25 - “I like watching other YouTubers doing it.” Still true!
0:50 - “but lonelier, because no one’s helping me.” 🙁 Dan’s filming this while Phil is still in Florida with his family.
0:58 - SO MANY stairs
1:08 - why do they have multiple rubber ducks!? lol. Including the huge one they still have in PINOF10.
1:20 - I love that he’s shooting from the same angle that Phil did in TOILET TAG (although that’s probably the only option in that tiny room)
1:27 - at least Dan offers a bit more explanation for the poster than Phil did!
1:46 - ahhhhh, so messy! I don’t deal well with mess like that.
2:04 - everyone needs a good place to just lay down on the floor. (Also, John Green book in the background!)
2:19 - Bryony painted them that fish painting when they first moved to London! (*1)
2:20 - future gaming room! The little chest of drawers was what was originally in Phil’s room before he got the new dresser, first in INNUENDO BINGO 2!
2:22 - lol at the giraffe sex image on the computer for some reason
2:24 - it’s Dan’s “paint me like a French girl” pose 😂
2:25 - that’s not sooo messy
2:31 - Little items in the lounge: Hulk & Iron Man pictures (now in a new home!); Japanese robot poster (this eventually ends up in Phil’s bedroom after they get the pixel mirror); Muse poster from the first concert they went to together in 2010. (I’m sure this is in the forever home somewhere and 😭.); True Blood drinks (Dan bought them these back in October 2011) and little robot figure; Colored string balls (*2), Pacman ghost, Mario cube; Tetris lamp; Pacman ghost lamp; Supernote trophy (for winning that contest)
2:46 - The start of the sofa crease!
2:56 - so many DVDs! I like that they’re alphabetized.
2:58 - the little Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle. (Also, foreshadowing of later gas leak...yikes.)
3:15 - that glass door really is a weird choice from whoever designed that apartment. What purpose could it possibly serve?
3:27 - Phil’s not the only one sneaking cereal, apparently 😊
3:38 - oh this bit; sure Dan, totally believable. (There’s that Lester family photo (*3) on the dresser though.)
3:47 - Dan piano playing is my favorite
3:51 - he’s rearranged and got a larger version of that one wirrow art since the last time he filmed his bedroom in Human Interaction.
3:52 - Some of Dan’s books - he must like The Edge Chronicles series (*4)
3:54 - Dan’s childhood bear (*5)! 🥺 And I kinda love that lightbulb lamp. But I hate the teddy bear lamp for some reason.
3:55 - that laser pod must have been the red lights I was confused about in List of reasons why I'm an awful Human Being
3:56 - the butt chair (*6)! Also, obsessed with him having the Tonberry, “hell demon,” and Pickachu plushies there together. 😭
3:57 - More bedroom items: love the amber lamp; more wirrow art (*7); seaweed tree; cologne (*8); the stylophone (from Phil); dice; Guild Wars concept art; the secret box! (*9)
4:13 - the parallel with the zoom-in on the butt chair to Why Dan had to call an Ambulance. Too much.
4:16 - that is a lot of Guild Wars stuff
4:26 - he’s also gotten new/nicer bedroom furniture that we hadn’t seen yet!
4:39 - “not much of that going on at the moment in here.” 👀👀 I am deceased. Phil is away in Florida, so...
4:53 - we really didn’t need to know, lol
5:30 - yeah, I can’t imagine trying to film in uni halls, but Phil did it a lot!
I am obsessed with how many of the things from this video we’ve already seen that they still have in the forever home. 🥺 I’ve numbered them above with (*#) and matched the numbers below.

Interview
Olly Alexander on success, sanity and It's a Sin: 'All those hot guys. I loved it!'
Simon Hattenstone
The Years & Years frontman is starring in Russell T Davies’ new drama about the Aids crisis. He talks about bulimia, his ‘dark’ clubbing days – and how he learned to enjoy filming sex scenes
Mon 11 Jan 2021 06.00 GMT
Olly Alexander was so certain he was destined for success that he saw a therapist to help him prepare for his future fame. It was 2014 and his band Years & Years had just signed to Polydor when he visited the shrink.
“I said: ‘The album’s coming out and I really want it to be successful,’ and he said: ‘What happens if it isn’t?’ I said: ‘Well, that’s not an option because I have planned it in my diary since I was a teenager.’”
That diary was less about chronicling the present than a series of promises he made to himself. “I planned my life till I was 25. I would be a famous musician ’cos musicians were the coolest people in the world. The biggest thing in the list was buying my mum a house, and I did that. That was the coolest thing to be able to do with my money.” He smiles. “That was the coolest thing ever.”
Now Alexander might well benefit from another visit to the shrink because he’s about to become a lot more famous. He stars in It’s a Sin, the brilliant new TV drama by Russell T Davies, about a group of young gay men living and dying through the Aids epidemic in the 1980s. The five-part series is funny, vibrant, sexy and heartbreaking.
This is by no means the first time Alexander has acted – he has appeared in the TV series Skins, films such as Bright Star (about Keats), Gulliver’s Travels and Great Expectations, and on stage in the West End alongside Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw in Peter and Alice; a pretty impressive CV. But with It’s a Sin, he knows he has struck gold. “Some actors would wait their entire careers and not get such a good role,” Alexander says, and he’s right. Davies has made a habit of creating groundbreaking TV series (Queer As Folk, Bob and Rose, Torchwood), and this is his best yet.
Alexander’s character, Ritchie Tozer, is an aspiring actor/singer who has just moved to London from the Isle of Wight in search of fame, fortune and a good shagging. He embraces his new freedoms with promiscuous abandon, while also struggling with his sexuality. Ritchie is equally cocky and vulnerable, lovable and insufferable.
Although It’s a Sin takes place in a time before Alexander was born, he says there are so many ways he relates to Ritchie’s life. There is one crucial difference – whereas Ritchie is secretive, Alexander is an open book. If there’s anything to tell you, he’ll tell you, even if he is embarrassed a second later about his indiscretions. It’s an endearing quality, and one that makes him great company.
We meet in his agent’s east London office in December, when Tier 4 restrictions are yet to kick in. Alexander is a boyish 30 – half punk, half catwalk model, with orange hair, earrings, multiple rings, stylish khaki trousers and a handful of inky tattoos. He is garrulous and giggly with a huge toothy grin.
Like Ritchie, Alexander was a stranger to city life when he came to London. He was born in North Yorkshire, went to primary school in Blackpool and Gloucestershire, and a comprehensive in Monmouth, south Wales. He was a natural performer who wrote his first song at the age of 10. “I performed it in my year six assembly.” Can he remember it? He squirms. “Yeah!” Let’s hear it then? “No!” Oh go on! “OK, OK. ‘The leaves are falling outside my window. I’m lay here all alone,” he sings quietly, in that delicate falsetto. He giggles, blushes and continues. “And now I’m a knowin’, the way it’s goin’, we won’t last for ever, for ever my love.’”
Wow, those lyrics are pretty sophisticated – and melancholy. He giggles again. “Oh thanks. It’s about unrequited love. Doomed love. I was getting in early on my themes. I had a bit of help from my dad.” He wrote it after experiencing his first pangs – for a boy in his class.
At secondary school Alexander was a victim of homophobic bullying. He responded with elan. “I would still come to non-uniform day in eyeliner.” Did he fight back? “Sometimes I would scream. I was not a good fighter. We did rugby a lot at my school – a Welsh school. The one time I scored a try, on the way back to the changing room the two popular boys from the year put their arms around me and said: ‘Well done, Olly,” and I was like: ‘I can’t believe it, this is it!’” He pauses long enough for me to get a glowing feeling. “Then they tripped me up and pushed my face into the mud. That was hard to live down.” After that he never went to another games lesson.
When he was 13, his parents separated, and from then he was brought up by his mother, events organiser Vicki Thornton (his real surname – Alexander is his middle name). His father had been a talented but disappointed singer-songwriter who made a living marketing theme parks. Although he gave young Olly a lifelong passion for adventure rides, there were tensions between the two of them. After his parents split up, he broke off contact with his father. When Alexander became successful, his father tried to rekindle their relationship via Twitter. Alexander wasn’t impressed.
With the sod-you eyeliner and supreme belief that he would make it, he sounds incredibly robust. So what else was in that teenage diary? “Pppprrrr.” He blows his lips as if feeling a sudden chill. “It’s a bit dark. I used to write that I really wanted to be skinny.” He exhales deeply. “My mantra was always: I’m not going to eat this again, I’m not going to eat cake again. I’m never going to eat pasta.” He was barely into his teens when he became bulimic and started to list the things he wouldn’t eat. Actually, he says it was worse than that. “I was writing down: don’t eat, don’t eat, don’t eat. Did he have a weight problem? “I was a little chubby at primary school, but no.” What does he think it came from? “It was something I could control. I felt very out of control in the rest of my life. I was struggling with my sexuality, my parents were divorcing, and I wanted to punish myself.”
I want to give him a hug, but I’m not sure he would appreciate it, particularly in the pandemic. Why did he want to punish himself? “It was self-loathing. I didn’t want to be gay. I was convinced I was the reason my parents were splitting up.” He never considered that their divorce may have had nothing to do with him.
He started to cut himself, too. Has he still got the scars? He points to his upper arms and thighs, “because people can’t see there. I was deeply ashamed of doing it. I wanted to hide it.” Are there many scars? “No. A friend saw a plaster on my arm and jokingly asked if I’d been cutting myself. After that, I was so embarrassed that I mostly stopped doing it. Bulimia carried on well into my 2os, but it became less and less frequent. It’s really hard to hold down any kind of job if you’re throwing up food all the time, and ultimately you have to choose.” It becomes a full-time occupation? “Yes, it’s all you think about. And you’re doing so much damage to your organs. I got taken into hospital once with my mum because I had this irregular heartbeat, which can happen through constant purging, and that really scared me. I thought I’d done something irreparable to my body, and my mum was so distraught. She couldn’t understand why her son was throwing up all the food she was trying to give him. She found out because I hadn’t cleaned the toilet properly.”
After studying performing arts at Hereford College of Arts, he moved to London and was liberated. He had a heady time of it – more drugs, clubbing and sex than even he had hoped for, while also getting regular work as an actor. But there was a downside. He saw friends struggle, sacrifice themselves to excess, fall by the wayside. “Everything was about going out and connecting with people at the clubs. I had a great time, but it was also a dark time. A lot of people took too many drugs. A few friends attempted to take their lives and one succeeded. That was devastating. You can see how easy it is for a party lifestyle to turn into something negative.”
Alexander has a strong survival instinct. There was his destiny to fulfil, the house to buy for his mother. He still struggled with his mental health, so he cut down on the destructive stuff. Today, he says, his main drug of choice is the antidepressant sertraline. “I was worried about longterm use, and the doctor said: ‘Well, the latest research shows it can promote neurogenesis, and I was like that’s the coolest thing ever.” Neurogenesis is the process by which new neurons are formed in the brain. “She was basically saying antidepressants are giving you superpowers, and I was like: ‘Amazing, I’ll keep taking them for ever.’” He starts giggling, and he can’t stop. “Neurogenesis – ooh, I love that. I’m going to be neuro-supercharged.”
Years & Years formed in 2010. Founder member and synth/bass/keyboard player Mikey Goldsworthy heard Alexander singing in the shower and asked if he wanted to become lead singer. When Alexander joined, Years & Years were a five-piece band, before shrinking to an electropop trio (Alexander, Goldsworthy and fellow guitarist and keyboard guru Emre Türkmen). Alexander, the main songwriter, has an ear for great sweeping choruses (think Sam Smith meets Pet Shop Boys with a dash of New Order). Their first album, Communion, went to No 1 in the UK, while the song King topped the singles chart and its follow-up, Shine, reached No 2. Many of their songs are about yearning and doomed love – particularly on their second album, Palo Santo – just like the first one he wrote aged 10.
Alexander also became known as an LGBTQ campaigner. He made a documentary, Growing Up Gay, for the BBC in which he talked to his mother in a tear-filled exchange about coming out; he also interviewed people about struggles with their sexuality, the pressure to be promiscuous and take drugs, and addressed schoolchildren about homophobia and mental health problems. Does he think of himself as an activist? He shakes his head. “It does a disservice to actual activists. There’s a tendency to use that word for anyone in the public eye speaking up about any issue. Going into schools and talking about mental health isn’t activism. I like doing that. If I can be helpful, I want to help.”
The week before we meet he was named celebrity of the year at the British LGBT awards. He doesn’t know why – he says he didn’t do anything in 2020. “Maybe they heard about my upcoming role and got in there early!”
He says he has learned so much from making It’s a Sin – not least about acting, and how tough it can be. “Doing an acting job where you have to turn up every day is really challenging. I was so used to my musician lifestyle, which is usually: get up late, get in a car, get driven to an airport, get on a plane, fall asleep, arrive somewhere, get driven to the venue, roll out of the car and do the show. It was too much like hard work every day. I thought I’d got past this!”
We see a lot of Alexander in It’s a Sin – in every sense. He gets more than his share of sex scenes, and says it was fascinating being taught how to do them properly. So he enjoyed them? “All those hot guys. That aspect I loved! And going into it I thought, I’m going to have so much fun doing this, I’m a confident-ish guy, love having sex, it will be great.” That’s so refreshing, I say, to hear actors admit they enjoy sex scenes.
Ah, well, he says, it wasn’t quite that simple – he initially became self-conscious. “I broke down into hysterical tears, like ‘don’t fucking touch me’. I found it really hard.” Then the intimacy coordinators got to work on him. “They were a life-changing experience. Intimacy coordinators are there for safety ’cos there’s a lot of shit that can go wrong between what a director wants and what an actor wants, and boundaries being crossed. They’re there to rehearse everything beforehand with the director and the performers. You talk about animals you might imitate, the sounds you make.” He pays tribute to intimacy coordinator extraordinaire Ita O’Brien, who introduced the Intimacy on Set guidelines in 2017 and worked on Normal People as well as It’s a Sin. “Anything with sex in it, she’ll be involved. She’ll be on all fours at one point, saying: ‘Now I’m going to be like a cow and moo in ecstasy.’ She’s amazing, amazing, amazing.” And yes, he did start to enjoy the scenes.
Did he find them arousing? Now it’s my turn to blush and I apologise for the question. Did he start to enjoy it too much? “No, that’s what I want to know. What if someone gets a hard-on – how embarrassing would that be? Ita said: ‘It’s natural and normal for certain body parts to get excited and if you get an erection that’s absolutely fine, but it’s not appropriate for the workplace.’” He adds a caveat: “Depending on what kind of job you’re doing. And she said: ‘If that happens, you just take a time out. So you’re all there thinking, OK, how embarrassing – because you say time out and everybody knows it’s because you’ve got a hard-on. Hahahhaa!” Did he have to take a time out? “No!” Did anyone? “Not to my knowledge.”
Who did he have most fun with? “I’d say best kiss was the guy who plays Ash [newcomer Nathaniel Curtis]. Great kisser.” And the best shag? “Sexual simulation,” he corrects me. “Best sexual simulation was Roscoe [Omari Douglas, another relative newcomer].” Has he told them? “It’s all coming out in this article, Simon.” And I can sense him calibrating what he has just said. “It’s going to ruin my standing!” But a second later he changes his mind. “No, that’s a compliment right? I compliment them both. Hahahaha!” And he laughs giddily.
I ask about the future. You sense he’s not sure where to go from here, acting-wise – that it can’t get any better than It’s a Sin. Fortunately, he owes the band an album’s worth of songs. He had them done and dusted before the pandemic. “But all that time in my flat going insane made me realise I didn’t like any of the music, it didn’t feel relevant. I just wanted to start again, which is what I did. Now it’s almost ready – again.”
It will be only their third album in seven years. “I know,” he says. “It’s embarrassing. Ariana Grande has had about five out in the time we’ve done one.” In the meantime, he says, Türkmen has had one baby, with another on the way.
What about his own love life? “It’s pretty dire.” Sex? “I’m hopeful to have more sex … it’s very difficult in the age of Covid if you’re single. I actually tried to lock someone down who would be my ‘friends with benefits’ sex buddy, because I saw that Holland were advising people to do that. In the first lockdown I said: ‘Look, we can just have sex with each other. I trust you, you trust me, we’re not together, but this is an arrangement. I’ve not had sex in six months, what do you think?’ But he said no. I was quite upset. So yeah, not a lot of sex in 2020.” For a split-second, the puckish Alexander looks forlorn. Then he grins his toothiest grin yet. “But I’m hopeful that it will pick up in the new year!”
It’s a Sin is on Channel 4 on 22 January at 9pm

Cabeswater Chronicles: Entry #1
[ March 20th, 2020 ]
Warning: Picture-heavy!
IT’S GO TIME, Y’ALL!
Honestly, I have no idea how to go about starting this up. It’s been 84 years. I can’t remember how these used to be formatted. Here goes nothing!
So, like the username of this blog suggests, I went full booknerd and named my island Cabeswater after the mystical forest from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, a personal favorite series of mine, with the intention of turning it into a magical, wild forest with me as the resident magician greywaren witch.
I didn’t get a particular picture of it, but my fruit is apples!
My first villagers are Cobb...
And Katt! And, won’t lie, I’m so thrilled to have a cat to start, even if Katt isn’t my favorite cat villager, I’m pleased all the same.
I sped along with the intro bits given to me, eager to throw myself into the world... only to find out I’m confined to a small part of the island. Not fair!
(I also goofed on the hair color. I wanted gray, forgetting that the ash blonde was also an option and was not a lighter gray like it looked in the menu.)
Cobb started off the day nicely by giving me a cap. Not sure what he’s trying to suggest by giving me a plain cap, but, hey. I’ll take it.
It’s, ah-- It’s something. Maybe not a Look (TM), but... something.
Katt, on the other hand, gave me a recipe for an adorable leaf umbrella! I didn’t get a picture of it, but I definitely made it!
First catch of the day! And of the game! Big ol’ Olive Flounder. (I was expecting a Sea Bass, tbh.)
I knocked out the 5,000 miles Nook wanted me to rack up pretty fast. It wasn’t hard at all, they make it fairly easy to get them!
Purple is my favorite color, so I went with that option for the roof of my soon-to-be house.
Ah, yeah. So, first balloon? Had a toilet in it. Fine by me, I’ll need one for my house eventually, but it wasn’t quite was I was expecting from my first balloon!
I stung my face while looking for tree branches, and Katt came through once again to give me a recipe for medicine! Cobb, on the other hand? well...
Thanks, bud.
And my second balloon of the day! What could it be, you ask? Well!
... Yeah. Another toilet. I don’t know what the game’s trying to tell me, but rude.
Into the night we go, I picked the game back up to do some night fishing and got this big boi. Startled the crap outta me, too.
And I’m going to wrap my first entry up here! The following ones will likely be a similar length, but not of a single day. I just had a lot to do the first day, and I don’t think I’ll be doing quite as much in the following days.
We’ll see what happens.
Thanks for reading!

Radiant plumbing
#RADIANT PLUMBING FULL#

I try to work ‘normal’ hours, and if I can take a day off for family stuff, I always do,” says McGillivary. Being a service plumber, in this day in age, you could work 24/7 if you wanted. “I have learned to set firm boundaries for myself when scheduling and taking on jobs. I have been able to take more time off for my family than ever. In fact, McGillivary’s biggest motivation for self-employment was time, rather than money. After passing my Masters, I decided to make the plunge into self-employment because I wanted the schedule flexibility for my family,” says McGillivary. “This allowed me to gain hours and knowledge for my Master’s test. He worked there for six years, but the whole time he continued to work nights and weekends doing plumbing work on the side. I found it fun to learn the ins and outs of that particular plumbing,” says McGillivary.Įventually, McGillivary joined the Pipefitter Test Crew and tested the piping systems after they were built. “The piping systems were complex, and although it was “plumbing on a ship,” it was completely different. McGillivary then took a job at Bath Iron Works (BIW) as a pipefitter building destroyers, ships for the United States Navy.

Through college, he continued to work alongside his mentor, and after graduation, continued to work for him full time for three years. The owner, Russell, was/is a great mentor and really took the time to help him understand not only what they were doing, but why they were doing it.Īfter deciding to pursue plumbing, McGillivary attended Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) for its plumbing and heating program. Before college, McGillivary started working for a small plumbing business that primarily focused on service work. “Little did I know it would be the start of where I am now,” says McGillivary. McGilivary’s path started in a small town when a small plumbing business was looking for a helper, and he was looking for a job. “Nothing like kicking your feet up and watching someone making horrible life decisions on 90-Day Fiancé on a Sunday evening.” Joking aside, for Keith McGillivary business owner of McGillivary’s Plumbing Services (MPS), Gardiner, Maine, for the past two years-his story into the plumbing trades is an interesting one. This spotlighted tradesperson tells us that he really enjoys trashy reality TV.

Our unconventional radio and TV spots will continue, and Radiant will always be a little different from other companies.Welcome to another edition of our Hub Spotlight series where do a deep dive into the men and women who make the trades great. "It's been a great way to engage with the community and show a side of our personality that's different from other home service businesses. "We're a little sad that the display is coming to an end," Sarah Casebier said. Radiant's San Gabriel lease expires on July 31. Radiant has maintained a lease on the San Gabriel building that has allowed the displays to continue, but the company moved its operations to 901 Reinli St. The current "Star Wars"-inspired display, however, will be the last. Radiant was awarded Best Window Display (2014) and Best Toilet Tableau (2012) in The Austin Chronicle's annual Best of Austin survey. Movie and TV parodies have included "Harry Potty and the Deathly Bowels," "Game of Thrones," "The Clogging Dead," "The Flush," "Mary Poopins," and "Clogzilla." The displays frequently reference current and classic pop culture trends and events. We've loved our little effort to keep Austin weird." "The displays became increasingly elaborate, and we never repeated a display, so it was an ongoing challenge – but a fun one. "I decided right then that there would always be a toilet in the window," Brad Casebier said. The bold and daring window displays began when Radiant moved into the building in 2007. Brad Casebier, who co-owns the company with his wife, Sarah, grabbed the most convenient piece of equipment, which happened to be a toilet, and stuck it in the window as a way to attract attention to the location. Radiant Plumbing and Air Conditioning, a leading plumbing and HVAC provider in Austin, Texas, has announced that a popular local tradition will come to an end on July 31 when the company removes its final window display from 2908 San Gabriel St.

Just another tag game
Tagged by: @veilaren Thank you so much! (sorry it took so long...)
(also wow tumblr wtf did you do to the formatting the first time I tried to post this...)
Rules: tag 10 followers you want to get to know better.
Name: Erin
Gender: Female
Star sign: I am the most Taurus ever
Height: 5′6″
Age: 29
Wallpaper on my phone: My lock screen and my background. Still some of my favorite sequel trilogy fanart. I have a print of Rey and really want to get my hands on the full set. Hoping to run into the artist again at a con this year.
House: Primary Ravenclaw, secondary Hufflepuff, Ilvermorny Pukwudgie. This is very serious business, I don’t mess around with house sorting lol.
Ever crush on a teacher?: Never a serious one, but I did have a cute professor with a really hot Irish accent once. Renal physiology suddenly became the most interesting topic in the world...
Coolest Halloween costume: My husband and I have a pretty cool Bebop and Rocksteady cosplay. I’m Bebop =D
Favorite 90′s TV show: Legends of the Hidden Temple
Last kiss: From a human ~1 hour ago (the best thing about being married <3). From a kitty ~2 hours ago (the best thing about having cats <3).
Have you ever been stood up?: Not that I can recall.
Favorite pair of shoes: I have tiny chubby baby feet that are hard to find good shoes for, so when I find ones I like I get reallyyyyy attached to them. I used to have these awesome flip-flops where the bottoms were made of yoga mats. They were super comfy, but they broke about a year ago. I’m still in mourning. I also really like snow boots. And these green Toms with fuzzy leopard print interior. And the shoes I wore at my wedding, o man they were to die for!
Have you ever been to Vegas?: No and to be honest it doesn’t really seem like my kind of place.
Favorite fruit: Black raspberries. I grew up eating them right off the bush every summer. They will always have a special place in my heart.
Favorite book(s): Oh boy here we go. The Silmarillion, Lord of the Rings, pretty much anything by CS Lewis (The Space Trilogy, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the Chronicles of Narnia being at the top of the list), Animorphs series (the thing that sparked my love of reading in the first place), Harry Potter series, Dune, Ender’s Game and series, Good Omens, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Le Petit Prince, His Dark Materials series, The Hunger Games, The Once and Future King, Redwall series, and Watership Down. Admittedly I haven’t had as much time to sit down and read a book for fun as I would like lately. I’ve kind of defaulted to reading fanfiction on my phone during small breaks instead. Which is great, I love fanfic. But I need to get back into reading new books as well.
Stupidest thing you’ve ever done: The list grows longer every day. Possibly the most expensive stupid thing I’ve ever done was completely turn off the heat in my old trailer I had in grad school when I left for Christmas vacation one year. I figured I would save money by not heating a house I wouldn’t be in. And for some reason I thought the heat tape on the pipes alone would be enough to keep things from freezing (completely disregarding the parts of the pipes that were actually up in the trailer). It seemed logical at the time... Yeah the pipes were completely frozen when I got back. It messed up some stuff in the toilet, caused some minor leaks in the pipes under the trailer, and burst a gasket in the tub which led to hours of bailing water out of the tub by hand until we could find the water main under the trailer and shut it off. All in all there wasn’t actually as much damage as there could have been. I still feel like an idiot though =/
All time favorite shows: Oh boy here we go again. LOST, Avatar the Last Airbender, The Simpsons, Futurama, Angel, Wolf’s Rain, The 4400, Untold Stories of the ER, Mystery Diagnosis, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Gravity Falls, Sherlock, DuckTales, Yuri On Ice, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Star Wars Rebels, the Clone Wars, Forensic Files (my guiltiest pleasure), Attack on Titan, Black Mirror, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Stranger Things, and Ouran High School Host Club.
Last movie you saw in theaters: Avengers: Infinity War
