2018 WAS ANOTHER GREAT YEAR FOR COLLECTING GODZILLA FIGURES

I heard someone complaining that only X-Plus releases stuff anymore... I disagree and here is why I think 2018 continues to be a great time to be a collector!

Anraku Ansaku gave us this great new Baragon sculpt

 Neca released some Atomic variants

 Though results varied on the paint application…

  SHMA started off the year with a Showa entry of Mechagodzilla 74, and headed into reissue territory. Notable releases included Anime Godzilla and a Kiryugoji

  X-PLUS rolled out a ton of high dollar releases, there could be an entire post dedicated to X-Plus 2018, but someone else can probably due that better justice than me. So… Ignoring multiple reissues and repaints Toho 30cm Series: Godzilla 1967, Mogera 1994, Godzilla Earth (2017), Jet Jaguar

Large Monster Series: Gamera 1999, Godzilla 1965, King Ghidorah 1968 Flying Versions, Space Godzilla / Little Godzilla, Frankenstein and Baragon Set, and Sanda vs. Gaira (Gargantuas)

Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection: Godzilla 1954, Shin Godzilla (2016) and the Favorite Sculptors Line: Death Ghidorah, Mothra 2001 & Baragon 2001, Varan, Godzilla 2001 and Godzilla 1962

Gigantic Series: (Shin) Godzilla 2016 Roar Version, Godzilla (1964)

Additionally X-Plus hit us with two versions of their Legendary Kong, new “soft” Hedorahs and more entries into the popular Deforeal series.

  Marusan has been rolling out tons of variants of their sculpts (too many to list). Plenty of Hedorahs, plenty of glitter and glows. In fact the newest glitter variants from Marusan are some of the best glitter figures I’ve ever seen.

Marusan also had the tremendously popular Marusan Gacha line

PlayToy is a new HK based toy maker, they have been putting out some crazy good Ultraman figures and Shaw brother sofubis like Inframan and Super Peking Man. Definitely a company to watch

 Marmit came out of semi-retirement with a couple new shin sculpts! There was also some festival releases and Medicom releases keeping new figures

Sunguts hit us with a new 4th form Shin Godzilla sculpts and new variants of their previous Shin releases as well as new variants for Baragon showa and Frankenstein

M1Go has been putting out a ton of variants including Glow in the dark Gargantuas, Glow in the dark GMK Godzilla and Baragon and reissues of fan favorites like the Matango bike

 Gigabrain released some new variants as did U.S.Toys

 MaxToyCo picked up a one day license from Toho for a terrific Hedorah, but has also put out some great Ultra kaiju with a US license as well!

CAST keeps putting out stuff including their new line of mini resin “ornaments”

 Bandai hit us with a fantastic Biollante, and an interesting Ghidorah

 YMSF also continues to put out new sculpts (and tease us with others)
