Charleigh's amazing rendition of Zelda with her recently tamed horse, Toffa, from my fic "A Twisted Timeline Tale of Breath of the Wild." “Hello. I’m Zelda. It’s so nice to meet you.”

She gave a few pats to the horse’s nose. It nuzzled her slightly, still a little unsure, and he snorted and turned away. He immediately turned back to her, placing his nose at the level of the pocket of her jacket that contained a single small apple. She had brought it with her to entice a horse, and it seemed to be working.

She brought the apple out from her pocket and held it flat in her hands. He eagerly took the brightly-colored red fruit from her palm, his flapping lips tickling the skin of her hand. She raised it to pat the side of his face as he happily ate the apple, and he leaned his head into her hand."

EXPOSITION | Les artistes du Bénin sous le soleil de Nice

« La capitale parisienne n'est pas la seule à accueillir des expositions africaines : […] une centaine d'œuvres béninoises s'exposent à Nice jusqu'à la mi-septembre au sein de la prestigieuse Villa Arson, qui regroupe une école nationale supérieure d'art, un centre d'art, une médiathèque et une résidence d'artistes. Comme l'explique le commissaire d'exposition Éric Mangion : « L'art actuel africain est à la mode. Or, il faut éviter toute fausse candeur, exotisme sympathique et jugements raccourcis, qu'ils soient sociologiques ou esthétiques. C'est avant tout un hommage aux artistes béninois rendu possible grâce au soutien de la grande galerie parisienne Vallois. » 

La sélection se veut pointue parmi les quatorze peintres, photographes et plasticiens originaires du Bénin, issus de trois générations d'artistes dont certains jouissent d'une reconnaissance internationale. Leur travail traduit autant l’affirmation du répertoire traditionnel africain au travers de leur inventivité dans l'utilisation des matières que leur ancrage dans l’actualité internationale au travers de leurs thématiques, comme la tragédie des migrants, la critique de la surconsommation ou les rapports inégalitaires nord-sud. 

D'ailleurs, le titre ironique de l’exposition, "Stop Ma Pa Ta", soit "Ma matière première n’est pas ta matière", vient d’une œuvre de Benjamin Déguénon. Ce dernier évoque le commerce des matières premières entre l’Afrique et les grandes puissances mondiales, sans aucune considération pour les populations locales, sous les traits d'un géant au ventre tapissé de billets de banque foulant au pied des centaines de petites pirogues en boîtes de sauce tomate recyclées. 

Dominique Zinkpé, artiste reconnu et directeur du centre Arts et Cultures de Lobozounkpa de Cotonou, a su agréger autour de son établissement la jeune scène créatrice béninoise […] La jeune garde prometteuse comme le peintre Psycoffi, attaché à un expressionnisme urbain, le styliste Prince Toffa, forgeant des habits futuristes, ou le photographe Charles Placide, montrant une cérémonie vodoun à Godomey, côtoie les artistes établis comme le sculpteur de Gèlèdé satiriques Kiffouli Dossou ou Gérard Quenum et ses poupées aux têtes brûlées au chalumeau. […] »
