i bought into the :/ vibes of captive prince as well because for a long time i didn't care to look beyond what everyone else was saying about it and frankly i wasn't interested in reading the books but when i see readers saying we shouldn't read captive prince because it glorifies slavery and non-con while the same readers praise colleen hoover and fourth wing and the after series and every shitty dark romance mafia book... i am not saying captive prince is the greatest book series ever and i definitely was uncomfortable with parts of it (because i am definitely not as intellectual as others who read and analysed it) but there's so much worse books out there that get praised A Lot (and especially on booktok) and yeah idk where i am going with this sorry atsjdkf
SAY THAT!!!! like listen i get it, if you're into dark problematic shit kudos, because i looooove me some fucked up books but if you are pointing fingers while ALSO reading a different brand of problematic shit....maybe you're the problem! i feel like people who read books like captive prince or aftg are usually the first ones to analyze how fucked up they are, to think critically and engage with the darker parts of those series whereas a lot of colleen hoover stans on booktok just gloss over the abuse and toxicity because it's all about romance? (or supposedly about romance) like sure captive prince is a love story in the end, and aftg is kind of about a love story in its own way, but i think both of those stories are first and foremost about overcoming abuse and healing from trauma and learning how to trust other people in the wake of all that. the romance is just a wonderful addition to some complex series that allow you the space to exist in the gray areas of human nature.

“Defund Hillel and replace it with small independent campus clubs!”
“Cut ties with Hillel!”
Okay but consider. Hillel, as an organization, has a LOT more resources than an individual school’s Jewish community organization has, and a lot more ways to get in contact with other Hillels. If you care so much about the Jewish community then please explain why you want to make it harder to find a community. I’m not even at a school with a Hillel (we’re student run) and I still know that if I contacted them I could find out what I needed (help finding a Hillel at another school, help against antisemitism, etc). How are your small independent communities going to do that, especially in their first few years of existence?

aight ok now that i've watched ep 7 i see some folks are review bombing KTL on MDL bc of the Arab prince storyline,,,,,, what are our thoughts
#tv: king the land#king the land#lee junho#junho 2pm#im yoona#girls generation yoona#yoona snsd#anupam tripathi#kdrama#local gay watches KTL (and gets diabetes in the process).txt#local gay watches k-dramas.txt#as someone who is not Arab but who is currently in an interesting relationship with religion in general (and is incorporating#multiple practices into my daily life by extension/exploring/dabbling in Islam): is it a stereotype? kind of.#but people writing sh*t like 'this is an offense against Saudi Arabia and MBS' etc etc need to calm the f*ck down#first off MBS is a literal murderer and the Saudi government perpetuates human rights abuses but we're not going there today#the prince is not from SA i think someone said he's from the UAE. Dubai to be more specific + Islam wasn't even mentioned at all#and pls. pls don't get me started with the whole#'princes don't go to clubs'. do you know how many clubs there are in Dubai. do you know how many members of the Gulf royal families#have been caught up in drug scandals and affairs and sh*t. the worse person you could hold up as a supposed standard#for Islamic values and then get mad when people point that out are these folks#he's not even getting drunk in public. he's not even drunk at all ffs he's technically abiding by the decorum#that one would have to have if they were drinking in Dubai so as not to get picked up by the authorities.#and yes i treat SA and the entirety of Europe the same when it comes to the history of abuse and religious extremism#all while claiming to hold up a higher standard. there is hypocrisy in every religious community and they are not excluded#anyway i brought this specific ep up with a friend (Arab Muslim) and they said that the vibe they got from this was Samir and Won#studied together in the UK (obviously) and now he's in Korea and basically having the time of his life teasing Won#but in the end they're meant to reflect each other. he's a more spoiled richer version of Won basically sksksksk#ofc people are getting up in arms bc stereotypes and sh*t and i'm not about to tell you how to feel about it#but don't go spreading misinformation#idk maybe by the end of this feature they'll be best friends. i really hope they will they have such a good frenemy thing going on rn

Let’s paint a picture:

The US is the most incarcerated country in the world. On both a volume and per capita basis
60% of US people are living paycheck to paycheck

Medical Issues are the cause of most bankruptcies

There is no guarantee of healthcare, vacation, paid parental leave, or sick leave

The US has the world’s largest economy.

If you are a typical worker for Walmart or another top employer, the CEO is on average compensated ~400x more than you.

The US spends more than the top 10+ countries combined on the military & more than most countries’ military on the US police force.

Life Expectancy is going Down not up.

The country isn’t working for the average US citizen

We can adjust the US’ Trajectory by believing & investing in our people. We are one of the most diverse people in the world, who value individuality, speaking one’s mind, and taking care of family & friends.

We deserve to share in the US’ massive economy instead of gains & benefits disproportionately going to the top .01%.

Get ready for an action-packed night of NBA playoff matchups! Tonight's games will have you on the edge of your seat with the Boston Celtics taking on the Atlanta Hawks, the Cleveland Cavaliers facing off against the New York Knicks, and the Denver Nuggets looking to sweep the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Celtics are currently leading the series 2-0 and are favored by 5.5 points on the home team with a high-scoring game set at 229 points. However, the Hawks have shown some real fight in the previous matchups, and I like them at +5.5 with the home crowd behind them. With coach Quin Synder's knack for making key adjustments, this could be a thrilling game that goes down to the wire.
Meanwhile, the Cavs are bringing some serious momentum into Madison Square Garden after tying the series 1-1. The Knicks are slightly favored at -1.5, but I'm most confident in the under for this game. Keep an eye out for Mitchell's first playoff game at MSG and lock him in at over 29.5 points for a nice parlay builder. RJ Barrett should also have a strong game after a rough start on the road. I'm predicting the Knicks in 6 for this series, so a money line play on them in this pivotal game 3 is a must.
Finally, the Nuggets are looking to move closer to a sweep of the T'Wolves and prove to the national media that they are legitimate title contenders. Although Denver is the safe bet at -2.0, I'm feeling confident enough to move the line to -7.5. After withstanding an early flurry fueled by pride from the T'Wolves, I could see this game turning into a blowout in favor of the Nuggets.
Get your popcorn ready, folks - these games are going to be a wild ride!
