from an early age Toby had a fascination with the military  as his father served in the Army and even when he was gone for a long time, he would always come back with presents and stories of the people of the country he was in. That was until he was ten when his father wasn't at the door one day but a chaplain and uniformed personnel with the news that he wasn't coming back. He was killed in action. 

the change was seen instantly in the young boy and he wasn't his energetic self for a long time. by the time he was twelve he was an angry preteen without that father figure around and it haunted him. he started to skip school without his mother's knowledge he knew he was messing up but didn't care at that point.

his wake up call came when he turned to graffiti his freshman year of high school and got sent to juvenile hall for a short time. it sunk in seeing how disappointed his mother was in him and how his father would feel about this. he got his act together and graduated two years later. he joined the Army reserves as a way to really honor his father after the stunts he had pulled right out of high school. He went when he was needed for eight years.

at the age of thirty he met Amelia and they were married a year later. It had been love at first sight and then they had a child Olivia when Toby was thirty three. He was a lucky and happy man.

It changed when Amelia was out with Olivia two years ago and a drunk driver hit them. He got a visit all over again but this time he wasn't that innocent little boy. His life fell apart for the second time in his life. He was in a depression for a while until he found a distraction for himself which was the East Atlantic Army which he's been in for about a year as specialist. It keeps him from thinking of all the pain.

Okay, now that the hype has died down I just want to say that the general vibe of abject horror that Mr Foxington Tobias expressed about the simple fact that he had to make a song to act as a replacement for pepper steak is the realest thing I've ever seen. because like HOLY SHIT. how do you even BEGIN to approach that? i would have crashed out ngl. you want me to try to match up to pepper steak? pepper steak. pepper steak from OFF? you're insane. you might as well ask me to turn water into gold because you are asking me to do the impossible here. to capture pepper steak. pepper steak from off. the song pepper steak from OFF. what the fuck dude what the hell

toby watches and listens, running the pad of his thumb back and forth over the outward jut of a now-pronounced wristbone.

he doesn't know what else to do, so he lights up a cigarette. it's getting harder and harder to do that, by the day, but he manages not to cough on the first drag. a breath, something like half a laugh, maybe, shaking his head. smoking reminds him.
