Wrong Answers Only by Tobias Madden
(2024)
From the Publisher:
Marco's always done the right thing. But now it's time for wrong answers only.
Marco should be at university, studying biomedicine. Instead, he’s been sent to live on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean with his estranged uncle, all because of a ‘blip’ everyone else is convinced was a panic attack. (Which it most definitely was not.)
And even though Marco’s trip is supposed to provide answers – about himself, about his family – all he finds on board the Ocean Melody are more and more questions.
But then his best friend CeCe proposes a new plan: for someone who has always done the right thing, in every possible way, it’s time for Marco to get a few things wrong. And hooking up with a hot dancer from the ship is only the beginning . . .
‘Wrong Answers Only shines. It is a wonderfully funny and heartfelt novel that is also intensely, relatably human.’ JENNIFER NIVEN, #1 New York Times bestselling author of All the Bright Places

Thoughts: So, uh, I read a lot of books this month. I leaned into beating my total from last year since I was close and read a lot of short reads, graphic novels, and the children's books I was giving for gifts.
There were some good reads this month, including two new canine narrators that I adore: Fox 8 and Snuff from A Night in the Lonesome October (which really should be a big tumblr book as it has Jack the Ripper, Dracula, the Wolf Man, a witch, a clergyman, a druid, Victor Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes, a Rasputin-coded mad monk, and occultists along with their familiars scheming over the fate of the world).
Goodreads Goal: 476/400

Face me (entirely)
by wildbeastorgod
She puzzles me, just like she puzzles everyone else. And she maddens me because I know she also maddens everyone else. I’m not special. I’m just another heart that beats faster when she approaches. I’m just another pair of eyes glued to her. And she doesn’t hear, she doesn’t hear my heart over the symphony of others. She doesn’t feel my eyes on her, not in the halls with the rest of her audience, nor in class with fewer spectators and probably not as she reads at the park, hidden away behind the willow tree.
She stands out of this crowd of washed-out faces like the moon stands out in the starry sky. They’re dying flickers of light and she’s this grand mythical thing with a hidden side I’m dying to see and details I study late at night. I want to know her, every useless insignificant thing about her. I want to read her like a book, over and over again, to learn to recite my favourite parts and annotate the pages. I want to believe her gaze on me means something more than all the others. I want her to move closer, to talk to me, to touch me, to wake me up from my seventeen-year-long slumber.
Words: 2414, Chapters: 1/?, Language: English
