More to Chew: Five-star people, food, and atmosphere
Tumblr media
Cafe Chew is a cozy little cafe located in the heart of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Known for its fresh, locally sourced ingredients, this cafe has been a go-to spot for locals and tourists alike. In this review, I will be sharing my experience at Cafe Chew, focusing on the food, atmosphere, and environment.
Let's start with the food. As soon as I walked into Cafe Chew, I was greeted by the delicious aroma of freshly baked goods. The menu offers a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options, as well as a selection of pastries, cookies, and cakes. I opted for the avocado toast with poached eggs and quiche of the day. The avocado toast was delicious, it was perfectly ripe, and the toast was topped with poached eggs. The bread was fresh and had a nice crunch to it, and the addition of tomato and red onion added a nice touch of acidity to the dish. The quiche of the day was equally impressive. It was loaded with fresh vegetables and cheese, and the pastry crust was perfectly flaky.
I could not leave without getting a seven-layer bar and an ambrosia iced tea. A seven-layer bar, also known as magic bars or hello dolly bars, is a type of dessert that consists of seven layers of different ingredients that are typically baked together in a square or rectangular baking dish. The layers typically include a graham cracker or cookie crumb base, followed by sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, and sometimes additional toppings like caramel or peanut butter chips - seven layers of deliciousness! The desserts are laid out on the counter behind a glass screen so you can see what you are getting before you buy it. They are a bit pricey, $7 on average, but the portion sizes are very large. The ambrosia iced tea is the perfect thing to cool you down on a hot summer day. My friends and I love to visit cafe chew after spending the day at the beach, and grab a table outside to enjoy the summer air. The iced tea sells for $3.75, but you get unlimited refills!
One thing that stood out to me about the food at Cafe Chew was the attention to detail. Each dish was carefully crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and it really showed in the flavor and presentation. The portion sizes were also very generous, making it a great value for the price. Moving on to the atmosphere, I have to say that I absolutely loved the cozy, welcoming vibe of Cafe Chew. The decor is rustic and charming, with lots of wood accents, chalkboard menus, and cozy seating areas. The cafe is small and intimate, which adds to its charm and makes it feel like a home away from home. They have indoor and outdoor seating options, catering to every type of customer. When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by a friendly staff customer who asks you if you want to sit indoors or outdoors and they promptly reserve a table for you.
The staff at Cafe Chew was also incredibly friendly and welcoming. They took the time to chat with us and make us feel at home, which really added to the overall experience. The service was prompt and attentive, without being overbearing, which was a nice touch. The environment at Cafe Chew was also very impressive. The cafe is committed to using locally sourced, sustainable ingredients, which is evident in the quality of the food. They also have a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, with recycling and composting programs in place, as well as energy-efficient appliances.
Overall, I would highly recommend Cafe Chew to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a cozy, welcoming environment. The food is top-notch, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a focus on quality and attention to detail. The atmosphere is charming and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive. And, of course, the commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility is a big plus. If you're in the Sandwich area, be sure to check out Cafe Chew - you won't be disappointed!

Chocolate through Green Tea
BITCH!
Tumblr media
chocolate: when was your first kiss?
- Very first from someone not family, I was 2. It was the neighbor boy and our parents caught it on camera. Boy just grabbed me and kissed my cheek.
hmmm I wonder what he’s been up to.
But my first “real” kiss was 2005, 8th grade, age 13.
french vanilla: how old are you?
Tumblr media
……………………… I’m 26.
cotton candy: three places you want to travel to?
- Greece, Philippines, Tuscany
strawberry: a language you wish you could speak?
- Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French, Korean
coffee: favorite cosmetic brands?
- A lot of my makeup, at least what goes on my skin is from “IT Cosmetics” because it is all hypoallergenic and I have really sensitive skin on my face. I prefer MAC eyeliner.
As far as like other skin care, I use a lot of Aveeno face washes and such because again, sensitive skin. I also like “The Face Shop” products and I use lots of Rose Water based stuff and essential oils.
mint chocolate chip: indoors or outdoors?
- I enjoy both. It all depends on my mood, the weather, who I’m with. It’s all circumstantial.
cookie dough: do you play any instruments?
- Yea, I run my mouth a lot.
I played the viola in primary school and I can play a few bars of certain songs on the piano. I was more of a choir kid though (again, I run my mouth).
rocky road: favorite songs at the moment?
Blind - PRETTYMUCH
Play it Cool - Monsta X
butter pecan: favorite songs for life?
Honestly there are too many to name. Music is timeless.
cheesecake: what’s your zodiac sign?
Tumblr media
toasted coconut: the beach or the pool?
- Beach
chocolate chip: what’s your most popular post?
hmmmm I really don’t know. Is there a way to find that out? lol

Yogurtland West Covina, 1000 W Covina Pkwy, West Covina, CA 91790
Tumblr media
Fro-yo girl here. I recently noticed that Yogurtland Chino Hills, CA and West Covina, CA now offer Yogurtland Zoom. Zoom is a blended froyo product. You select the frozen yogurt flavor and the toppings and Yogurtland blends it together for you (similar to Dairy Queen’s Blizzard or McDonald’s McFlurry) using a machine.
Zoom is priced by weight at the same price: 45 cents an ounce. There are taller Zoom cups, longer spoons, and signs with instructions and recipes. I decided to mix Lucky Mint Crème froyo, Double Cookies & Cream froyo, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and Oreo cookies. I put everything in the cup (you don’t have to fill the cup) and handed it to the Yogurtland associate. The cup is placed into a blending machine and everything is mixed together. It doesn’t take long. I liked what I blended together – the flavors were complementary. However, I noticed the add ins weren’t blended in well. The chocolate chips still seemed to be intact and there were big cookie chunks too. Other places do a better job blending the yogurt and toppings. The frozen yogurt comes out softer too. I like unblended frozen yogurt and toppings better.
This West Covina location is very busy and that’s probably why the dining area and toppings bar were messy. They have a happy hour on Tuesday from 4-7 PM where you can spin the prize wheel (minimum purchase of 3 ozs) – everyone wins something (e.g., giant spoon, free froyo, keychain).
Everyone was greeted. There’s a tray of sample cups at the register. You’ll find 16 self-serve flavors and the usual Yogurtland toppings including some offerings that aren’t at every Yogurtland location (fresh whipped cream, Magic Shell, premium sauce dispenser). Toppings include: cookies, candy, popping boba, fruit, nuts, chips, syrups, sprinkles, mochi, cereal, cookie dough, brownies, cheesecake, donuts, coconut, etc.). The price is 45 cents an ounce.
Like your typical Yogurtland location, they have a green tiled wall, water with floating strawberries, LCD flatscreen monitors and a restroom (ask for the key). Parking is easy – it’s right next to a permanently close Fresh & Easy.
Froyo flavors of the day:
Salted caramel pecan
Fresh strawberry
French vanilla NSA
Matcha green tea: pretty much tastes like soft serve green tea ice cream, yum
Plain tart
Mango
Wild berry tart
Rocket pop sorbet
Lucky mint crème: it’s good, sweet and creamy without tasting like toothpaste.  I only feel like having it one time in March, guess I’m not a huge mint froyo fan unless fresh mint is used.
Toasted coconut
Taro
Pistachio
Double cookies & cream: creamy and smooth with cookie flavor, not too chocolatey
Dutch chocolate
NY Cheesecake
Strawberry lemonade sorbet
Froyo seems popular in West Covina; Yogurtland has two WC locations. Sign up for Real Rewards to collect points and earn free froyo. Take it to go to avoid paying sales tax.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Magic Bars!
This is a fun one from Christina Tosi's bakingclub. Layers were a base of oats and chocolate granola, then frosted flakes, then butterscotch chips, then toasted coconut, then sweetened condensed milk. I probably should have crumbled the frosted flakes - seems like the sweetened condensed milk didnt ooze through that layer. I'll make these again and make some adjustments.

How To Make Hello Dolly Bars – Back To My Southern Roots Hey Dolly Bars, with sweetened condensed milk, are among the finest desserts on the market. The bars, also called magic cookie bars or seven layer bars, is such a fast and straightforward recipe to make. With the mix of pecans, chocolate chips, toasted coconut, and a graham cracker crust, you possibly can't go improper. #recipe #simple

THANKSGIVING RECIPE ROUNDUP It’s the best holiday of the year if you ask me and here is a list of all my favs separated by category! Happy Planning
TURKEY I’ve included three methods for turkey here but my fool proof method is the first recipe from Alton Brown. Crispy skin, perfectly cooked meat and in a fraction of the time! I’ve never tried spatchcocking a turkey but it’s my favorite way to roast chicken so I wanted to include it. For the adventurous spirit the smoked turkey is absolutely delicious but note that it takes time. I didn’t have a smoker when I tried this recipe a couple years back but Russ includes directions for turning any grill into a smoker which is pretty handy. Alton Brown Roast Turkey http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/good-eats-roast-turkey-recipe-1950271 Spatchcocked Turkey http://nomnompaleo.com/post/66597843666/butterflied-big-bird-spatchcocked-Turkey Smoked Turkey https://thedomesticman.com/2013/10/01/perfect-smoked-turkey/
GRAVY A pretty crucial condiment at the Thanksgiving table and one that people often fret over. All three of these recipes are great. The Bon Appetit recipe doesn’t include the turkey drippings but does include a couple extra steps to boost the flavor and in my opinion totally worth it especially if you want to make this ahead instead of right before serving. Easily adapted to gluten free by swapping out all purpose flour for gluten free flour. King Arthur and Cup 4 Cup make great gluten free flour blends. POTATOES / SWEET POTATOES/ CAULIFLOWER MASH I know that most people are obsessed with mash potatoes and wouldn’t want to mess with them much and for that reason I love the Bon Appetit recipe which includes simmering the milk with some herbs to add a very subtle flavor to a very traditional dish. If you are looking for a less starchy option mashed cauliflower will be perfect. I’m not a huge fan of marshmallow toped sweet potatoes and have opted for Jessica Murnane’s Chipotle Sweet Potato dish the past couple of years with no complaints. If gratin is more your jam then I’ve included a couple of those as well! Buttery Mashed Potatoes https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/extra-buttery-mashed-potatoes Chipotle Mashed Sweet Potatoes http://www.jessicamurnane.com/recipes/chipotle-mashed-potatoes/ Mashed Cauliflower https://downshiftology.com/recipes/mashed-cauliflower/ Two Potato Gratin with Goat Cheese http://domesticate-me.com/two-potato-gratin-with-herbs-and-goat-cheese/ Cauliflower Gratin with Garlic & Sage https://www.feastingathome.com/cauliflower-gratin-with-garlic-and-sage/ Roasted Garlic Autumn Root Vegtable Mash http://nomnompaleo.com/post/102612649453/nomtastic-paleo-thanksgiving-roasted-garlic
GREEN BEANS Again, if tradition is your thing you might be appalled by my many choices outside of a casserole or if you are looking to make a healthier version then Pamela Salzman’s Green Bean Casserole is a total winner! The Dijon Maple Green Beans are a personal favorite if your curious. BRUSSELS Brussels Sprouts have got to be my favorite Thanksgiving side and usually the first to go at our family table. Its honestly a tie between the two Michael Symon recipes for my favorite but I had to include a couple more because Brussels! Brussels with Capers Walnuts & Anchovies http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/roasted-brussels-sprouts-with-capers-walnuts-and-anchovies Brussels with Bacon Mustard & Walnuts http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/michael-symon/roasted-brussels-sprouts-with-a-bacon-mustard-and-walnut-vinaigrette-2109595 Balsamic Brussels http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/balsamic-roasted-brussels-sprouts-recipe-1996813 Brussels Sprouts Salad with Apples and Walnuts https://diethood.com/brussels-sprouts-salad-apples-candied-walnuts/
CARROTS / PARSNIPS Maybe the least popular but hey lets mix it up and you might be surprised at how good carrots and parsnips can be! If you love gruyere cheese as much as I do the Feasting At Home Parsnip Gratin is so so so so so good! SQUASH It is fall so squashes are a perfect addition to the feast. The Pamela Salzman Delicata Squash with Pomegranate Pistachio Relish is my go to! I’ve brought this dish to so many Friendsgivings and its always devoured. STUFFING/DRESSING Ok so really we are all here for the stuffing…am I right? Its comfort food to the max and is over the top amazing fried up into stuffing cakes the following day. Trust me on that. I’ve made a number of these and have enjoyed them all. The cornbread stuffing can be easily made gluten free with a good gluten free cornbread mix. Cornbread Sausage & Fennel https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/cornbread-dressing-with-sausage-and-fennel Sourdough Sausage Apple https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/sourdough-stuffing-with-sausage-apples-and-golden-raisins Wild Mushroom Fennel Stuffing https://www.feastingathome.com/wild-mushroom-fennel-stuffing/ Butternut Squash Wild Mushroom https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/butternut-squash-and-wild-mushroom-stuffing/ Grain Free Stuffing https://againstallgrain.com/2011/11/21/grain-free-thanksgiving-stuffing/ Autumn Rice Stuffing https://heatherchristo.com/2015/11/17/autumn-harvest-rice-stuffing/
CRANBERRIES It’s not Thanksgiving for me without them. I actually grew up loving the canned version but in recent years started making it which takes very little effort and can be made a couple of days ahead. The Nom Nom Paleo Cran Cherry is super good! Cran Cherry Sauce http://nomnompaleo.com/post/66981815680/paleo-cran-cherry-sauce Paleo Cranberry Sauce http://fedandfit.com/easy-homemade-paleo-cranberry-sauce/ Orange Cranberry Relish https://www.plaidandpaleo.com/2016/11/raw-orange-cranberry-relish.html
SALADS Ok I know this category doesn’t always make it to the table but I really enjoy these and they can also take the place of an additional side. Delicata Squash Apple Salad https://pamelasalzman.com/roasted-delicata-squash-apple-salad-recipe/ Butternut Squash Pomegranate Salad https://pamelasalzman.com/butternut-squash-salad-with-pomegranates-and-toasted-pumpkin-seeds/ Fall Salad https://pamelasalzman.com/fall-salad-fig-balsamic-vinaigrette-quinoa-brittle-recipe/ Shaved Brussels Sprouts https://www.acouplecooks.com/shaved-brussels-sprout-sweet-potato-salad/
DESSERT Everyone has their go to favorites for Thanksgiving desserts and I’m a pie girl all day long. I personally don’t need six choices of dessert because I’d rather go back for seconds and thirds of the meal than save room for sweets but I wanted to include a good variety of healthier options. Paleo Pumpkin Pie Cookie Crisp http://paleomg.com/pumpkin-pie-cookie-crisp/ Paleo Pie Crust http://zenbelly.com/2017/10/23/pie-crust/ Nut Free Paleo Pie Crust http://www.paleomazing.com/paleo-recipes/nut-free-flaky-pie-crust/ Pumpkin Spice Coconut Macaroons https://downshiftology.com/recipes/pumpkin-spice-coconut-macaroons/ Grain Free Apple Spice Coffee Cake https://againstallgrain.com/2014/11/20/pumpkin-pudding-egg-free-dairy-free/ Paleo Pumpkin Cheesecake http://paleomg.com/thanksgiving-pumpkin-cheesecake/ Apple Cider Cream Pie http://www.lottieanddoof.com/2011/10/apple-cider-cream-pie/ Paleo Pecan Pie Bars https://www.foodfaithfitness.com/paleo-pecan-pie-bars/
APPETIZERS If you ask me a huge cheese board and some wine is the best app before the meal but here are a couple more options for you since I know not everyone eats cheese like a food group. Brussels Sprout Prosciutto Bites https://www.tablespoon.com/recipes/roasted-brussels-sprouts-and-prosciutto-bites/85c02444-4032-416c-9232-4d52452b90c6 Prosciutto Pear Arugula Rolls http://www.thedefineddish.com/proscuitto-pear-arugula-rolls/ Shrimp Cocktail http://www.thedefineddish.com/whole30-cocktail-sauce/ Sweet Potato Tahini Crostini https://www.loveandlemons.com/sweet-potato-tahini-crostini/? utm_source=feedly&crlt.pid=camp.kH1vW7LRA3Qc Crudités Platter http://whatsgabycooking.com/assemble-crudite-platter/ Sweet Potato Rounds with Herbed Ricotta & Walnuts https://www.theroastedroot.net/sweet-potato-rounds-with-herbed-ricotta-and-walnuts/

Kuredu Resort - Sangu Very Much
Like all good things, I’m sad to say the magical Maldivian vacation had to end, and I have been home for a few days now.  Earlier today I finally braved my lifelong arch-nemesis, the scale.  I knew going into our confrontation today to expect the worst, but I was surprised to find that instead of gaining the ten pounds I felt I added, the reality was more like three.  Not sure how that is possible given the handful of chefs catering to my every culinary whim, four meals per day, at Kuredu Resort.
I had never stayed at a resort prior to this trip, so I didn’t really have any expectations about how good the food would be.  My companion and I were informed that we were on the all-inclusive plan, plus we were staying at the more exclusive Sangu Water Villa at the far end of the island, so we were free to dine at any of the buffet restaurants on the island and get half-price discounts at the three a la carte restaurants on the resort.  We never made it to any of the a la carte restaurants, as we were more than satisfied with the buffet options.  While we did try the different buffet restaurants on the island, ultimately we were happiest at Sangu Restaurant.
Tumblr media
The buffet restaurants are actually all similar, but there are slight differences.  The most obvious is the ambiance - Sangu is adults-only so the vibe is definitely more sophisticated compared to lively Koamas restaurant, which is located near the resort’s main area and also next to the children’s playground.  Throughout the buffet restaurants, there is a nightly dinner theme that completely cycles through bi-weekly, as most guests don’t stay for more than two weeks.  At Sangu, there was an outdoor grill - I didn’t notice one at the other restaurants though I’m sure they had grilled foods there, too, if not a grilling station.  During my stay, I eagerly looked forward to see what was cooked there to fit the theme.  The best theme night was “Out of the Blue,” which was seafood, and the chef at the outdoor grill did an amazing job.  I ate a ridiculous amount of lobster that night, not to mention some amberjack and the best grilled calamari I’ve ever had. By then, I had already gotten to know to the chefs at Sangu (and they me) so it was almost comical how they kept adding lobster onto my plate because they knew I’d finish it all.  This leads to the biggest differentiator for me on the buffet restaurants - service.

As I mentioned, the staff at Sangu really gets to know their guests, which explains the exceptional service we experienced.  Guests are assigned a dedicated server for their whole stay.  Our dedicated server happened to take vacation leave a few days before our departure, but he was serving us up to an hour prior to his vacation. Even after he left, someone else we were already used to interacting with took over for him.  In general, be it the chefs or the wait staff, we felt we got to know everyone at Sangu.  They also put up with some of our unique requests (high maintenance confession time)...  For instance, during the Indian theme night, they put out proper masala chai.  The chef adds sugar to your preferred sweetness level into a silver cup, adds a couple ladles of chai, swishes it all into another silver cup, and then back and forth a few times before serving in a mug for you.  Until this trip, I haven’t really been much of a breakfast person - at home a large coffee or chai latte is enough to get me through to lunch.  So the morning after Indian night, we asked if they happened to have any masala chai left or if they can make us a cup,but we were informed they don’t keep leftovers and only make masala chai every two weeks for Indian night.  One of our chefs heard how much we liked the chai and made us each a cup, and not only for that morning but for every morning for the remainder of our stay.  Another example was when my friend picked up a coconut that randomly fell near us and took it to one of the chefs and requested he open it for us.  The chef obliged and then gave us an educational lesson on why there was so little water in the coconut (it was an old coconut) and how if we want one that holds more water we should be picking the green ones in the trees (but seriously, don’t climb Kuredu’s trees if you go visit).

So as I just stated above, I’ve never really been much of a breakfast person, but it’s hard to not go to Sangu for breakfast each morning when you get to dine on the beach.  In addition, the grill turns into a American pancake/Belgium waffle/French toast bar - and the chef can also make variations such as crepes and Swedish pancake if so desired.  What I liked though was seeing if there was a special egg dish.  I was perfectly happy with the ubiquitous made-to-order omelets at pretty much every single buffet restaurant in the world, but some mornings there would be a featured egg dish, such as the Sri Lankan Egg Hopper (pictured above).  Our chef friends explained to me that Madivian cuisine is heavily influenced by, if not a direct crossover from, India and Sri Lanka.  Between the culinary lessons and the gorgeous views, it’s hard not to get excited about breakfast.  I will say that O Restaurant and Bar have a great view, too, as they sit above the water so you see nothing but the ocean.  I still give the edge to Sangu, however, as I much prefer the full beach view - sand, waves, and all.
Tumblr media
Sangu Restaurant is also where the wine cellar is located.  So a couple things to note - the Maldives is an Islamic country, so alcohol is illegal.  On resorts (Kuredu as well as others), however, alcohol is permitted on the premises.  To be a sommelier, you must be able to drink or taste the wines you are purchasing and recommending.  As such, the sommelier at Kuredu has been brought in from India and been working there for two years.  He is responsible for picking the over one thousand different bottles for the wine cellar, which accommodates all the restaurants, including the a la carte ones.  Friday evenings, the sommelier hosts a small group for wine tastings on the Sangu beach.  This is not covered in the all-inclusive plan, but it’s a nominal fee of $25 per person for five or six wines.  The set up is quite beautiful and the sommelier picks wines based on the group’s preferences.  I think for my group, most of us preferred red, so he selected two whites and three reds for us to try.  At the end of our tasting, someone piped in a desire for prosecco, which became our sixth.  I didn’t care for the whites but one of the cheapest wines we tried, the Pata Negra tempranillo, was one the one I liked most, followed by the Mercurey Premier Cru, which most others seemed to prefer instead.  That is what I really enjoy most about wine tasting - meeting others and discussing what we taste and our preferences, as every palette is different.
Tumblr media
I have probably already lost all the casual readers by now, but in case anyone is still with me, let me just say I can still ramble on about the food at Kuredu but will wrap up by adding that their desserts were on point.  First of all, there are healthy options like a proper fruit cart (next to the grilling station), where a chef would prepare any fruit you select for you.  I must say I had the most amazing papayas, dragonfruits, and mangoes there.  Most nights at the fruit cart, there was also homemade ice cream.  For something more elaborate and indulgent, there is a full on dessert table indoors, usually tied to the nightly theme, and all done quite well.  For instance, we had a Sunday Roast, and the chefs baked proper Victorian sponge cakes and Bakewell tarts, among many other options, that would make Paul Hollywood, Mary Berry, and Prue Leith all happy.
As a side note, I did mention four meals per day at the start of this post, and up to now I have really focused only on breakfast and dinner (and the wine tasting), so you might be wondering about the other two meals.  Lunch was a lighter version of dinner - just without the fun theme.  It was heavier than breakfast and we were usually so full still that we often ended up skipping lunch.  Occasionally we would get peckish before dinnertime, so to tie ourselves over we would go to one of the bars.   Every afternoon every bar on the island provided sandwiches, cookies or pastries, and tea.  There really is no opportunity to go hungry or thirsty at Kuredu.  While the location is a paradise, being pampered and indulged by the staff at Kuredu solidifies this.  I honestly don’t know how I’ve been able to function these past few days without that team taking care of me like they did all last week.  Here’s hoping I can go back again there soon.

The Essential Guide to Breakfast at Disney World
At Walt Disney World, nearly everything qualifies as a breakfast. Hot dogs are slung by 10 a.m., last night’s desserts double as sugary morning fare, and the Dole Whip stand opens earlier than your usual workday begins. Truly, there are no rules.
But while the options are boundless, sitting down to a full meal of eggs, bacon, and toast here can be a merciless catch-22: You either cannibalize your early-morning park time (precious hours when ride lines are shorter than usual) with dining, or forego the serious sustenance required for the long day ahead.
There are, in fact, some fantastic eye-openers on the property, but you’ll have to know where to find them. Which is why we’ve highlighted the best breakfast tacos to scarf on the run, specialty foods worth taking a break for, and when you should just rely on the emergency granola bars in your backpack.
Desperate for caffeine? The most obvious options are called out below, but refer to Eater’s comprehensive guide to coffee and tea across the property for info on where to get hopped up throughout the day.

The famous Cat Tail pastry at the Cheshire Café
Magic Kingdom
With an updated park entry procedure, having a reservation no longer gets you into the park as early as it used to. Character dining options are either the Crystal Palace buffet with Winnie The Pooh & Friends (don’t knock it, Eeyore is a delight) or the iconic Cinderella’s Royal Table, with tableside princess visits inside the castle’s upper towers. The only other sit-down options are Plaza Restaurant, which just introduced breakfast, and Be Our Guest (more on that below).
Signature morning sweets include Cheshire Café’s eponymous “cat tail,” a pink and purple icing-drizzled Danish log, and the warm jumbo cinnamon roll at Gaston’s Tavern; both are fine, not great. If you prefer to start the day with a macaroni-and-cheese-topped hot dog, you’re in luck, because Cosmic Ray’s, Lunching Pad, and Casey’s Corner all start serving lunch fare bright ’n’ early at 10 a.m — with the frozen pineapple favorite, Dole Whip, up for grabs as early as 9 a.m.
Top Pick: Sleepy Hollow, whose freshly made sweet and savory waffle sandwiches hit the spot, unless you indulge in a Mickey-shaped one instead. (Late risers, take note: the ham, egg, and cheese waffle sammy is served ’till noon.) Avoid: Be Our Guest. The hottest ticket in town is a travesty at breakfast time, when a chaotic pre-order format ruins its delightful Beauty and the Beast-themed interiors. The food isn’t terrible and comes out lightning quick, but it remains a pricey breakfast that’s not entirely worth it. Coffee: The Main Street Bakery (halfway down the main drag, right-hand side) hides the park’s very own Starbucks, while a Joffrey’s Revive stand in Tomorrowland (by Space Mountain) serves solid coffee without the long lines.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Morning options are tough to come by inside this timeless take on Tinseltown, with most quick-service locations opening early with lunchtime foods in busy months, but grab-and-go eats, such as the whoopie pie-like carrot cake cookie, at the Trolley Car Café Starbucks are a reliable choice. That is, if you’re not eating omelets and Mickey waffles with familiar Disney Junior faces at Hollywood & Vine, the only spot in the park offering character dining.
Top Pick: Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land. The strange delights at this quick-service stand are worth stopping for, particularly the indulgent scrambled-egg bowl with smoked brisket, gravy-smothered tater tots, and a s’mores French toast breakfast sandwich with graham-crusted brioche. It’s less sweet than it sounds, and you can even use Disney’s mobile-ordering service to skip the line. Avoid: ...eating lunch fare at 10 a.m. It won’t end well. Coffee: Starbucks is located within the Trolley Car Café (at end of the entrance’s central stretch, right-hand side), but a Joffrey’s Coffee stand is conveniently lurking at the entrance of Toy Story Land.

Cheesy stuffed croissants at Les Halles Boulangerie
Epcot
Epcot’s World Showcase is the place to chow down on international cuisine within themed pavilions during the day, but only Mexico, Norway, and France are open pre-11 a.m. If you’re back there — most likely for a morning ride on Frozen Ever After — there are sweet Scandinavian pastries and a salmon-and-egg bagel at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe, or Mexican specialties like chilaquiles and pambazo de chorizo con huevo at Cantina de San Angel.
You won’t totally destroy your plans by sitting down for breakfast, so munch on a family-sized platter of hearty staples with Chip ’n’ Dale, Pluto, and Mickey Mouse at Garden Grill or with a bevy of princesses at Norway’s part-buffet, part-restaurant Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, the park’s two character dining locations. If you’re just putzing around Future World between morning Fastpass reservations and need a quick bite, Sunshine Seasons, with its souffle, croissant egg sandwich, and healthy options like a tofu wrap and overnight oats, is your best bet.
Top Pick: Les Halles Boulangerie in the World Showcase’s France pavilion for a tempting bakery case of croissants and chocolate-filled pastries, along with ham- and cheese-stuffed croissants, quiches, and croque monsieurs. Avoid: Waiting until World Showcase opens at 11 a.m. Have a little something, even if it’s a piece of fruit — you’ll want to pace yourself once the real eating begins. Coffee: Here, Starbucks is called Fountain View; walk past Spaceship Earth and it’ll be on your right-hand side, across from the fountain. Can’t wait? There are Joffrey’s Coffee kiosks beneath the monorail station, over by Test Track, and within the World Showcase.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Given that your morning plans likely include waiting for the immensely popular Avatar: Flight of Passage ride, skip the sad pastries sold at pop-up stands nearby and send a family member to retrieve French toast sticks, sausage-and-egg biscuits, or sweet pineapple lumpia from Pandora’s nearby Pongu Pongu stand. (The line now snakes through an outdoor walkway between Pandora and Africa, alleviating any difficulty of shimmying through a proper queue to find them — a big Disney no-no.)
Your only true sit-down options are Tusker House, a character breakfast buffet with good food and a few African options (mealie pap, beef bobotie) or, gulp, Rainforest Cafe, so opt for the former if you’re inclined. It’s got the core characters — Mickey, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy — and some of the best grub, too.
Top Pick: Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe. The quick-service counter in Asia has an array of made-to-order sunrise sandwiches — bacon and egg on challah toast, sausage and egg on an English muffin — as well as a breakfast burrito and tacos, all served with herbed hash-brown bites. Avoid: Kusafiri Coffee Shop, the kiosk in Africa whose oversized Mickey-shaped cinnamon roll is not as good as Instagram would have you believe. Coffee: Creature Comforts houses the park’s Starbucks (take the left at the park’s emblematic Tree of Life; it’ll be on your left-hand side), but if you’re headed toward DinoLand U.S.A., Isle of Java is more convenient.

Tonga toast at the Polynesian Village
Around the Resort
All Disney Resort hotels offer breakfast, but only some are worth changing your plans for:
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: Kona Cafe offers loco moco and macadamia-nut pancakes, but is most famously known for the cinnamon sugar-crusted, banana-stuffed sourdough loaf that is Tonga Toast. Reservations can be tough to nab, so you can also grab the toast to go (sans strawberry compote) at Capt. Cook’s.
Disney’s Yacht Club: Ale & Compass offers one of the best breakfast buffets in the park (they’ve even got whitefish salad!) as a small upcharge to its selection of inventive entrees that are, for the time being at least, priced competitively.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge: Sanaa’s limited but substantial breakfast menu, paired with up-close views of animals, makes it a top choice time and time again.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn: If you’re looking to give your kids some princess magic and yourself a table-service breakfast (poached eggs with fennel sausage; sopressata-stuffed breakfast calzone) far superior to the character buffets, Trattoria al Forno is the spot.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: 1900 Park Fare is the ol’ standard when it comes to character dining, but Grand Floridian Cafe not-so-secretly has one of the best breakfast menus (and calmest atmospheres) on property.
Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort: Fuel is the ideal lobby pit-stop, with a full espresso bar, egg sandwiches, and endless packaged snacks ideal for scarfing while waiting for the Magic Kingdom bus.
Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort: Ravello not only has a superior breakfast buffet, but hosts character dining a couple days a week, giving you quality time with Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie alongside a gourmet spread of charcuterie, house-made granola, and eggs made to order.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort: The perk of staying at a Disney hotel that recently underwent renovations is an updated quick-service menu that almost always includes unexpected surprises. Enjoy breakfast Cubans, coconut waffles, and a chorizo tostones Benedict at Centertown Market or try the cream cheese-guava French toast and yucca hash at the hotel’s Spyglass Grille.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter: Load up on breakfast po’ boys, baguette French toast, breakfast shrimp and grits bowls, and beignets from the quick-service counters at Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory.
Disney’s Art of Animation: Long heralded as the best quick-service food of all value-tier hotels, Landscape of Flavors delivers a strong and varied bounty, with breakfast sandwiches on naan bread, challah French toast, and vegan seitan scrambles.
