Fro-yo girl here. Villa Dolce opened way back in 2009 at The Outlets at Orange Mall. It’s near the AMC theater. The interior reminds me of Yogurtland with square green tiles and a wall of froyo machines. There are 16 self-serve froyo flavors a day from YoCream, Dole, and Frozen Bean and your usual toppings for $0.68/oz. Toppings included fruit, popping boba, nuts, mochi, candy, cookie dough, cereal, chocolate chips, sprinkles, sauces, etc. During my visit, they only had 13 flavors though.

The place was reasonably clean. Service was okay. They had three employees standing around not greeting customers. You have to ask for a cup from an employee. They also sell boba drinks.

Zeena vs. Self-Serve Froyo

I used to work at a self-serve froyo place and boy do people sure come up with Combinations. One of the worst was chocolate and banana froyo with nerds, mint chips, and cherries as toppings.

Ah, self-serve froyo. Where you can just throw whatever the hell you want into a cup and call it dessert.

i used to work at a movie theatre that had a tcby outlet, there weren't any other tcbys in my city except in other movie theaters owned by the same company. i was one of the most experienced employees at the tcby before it shut down (bc the company bought out alocal self-serve froyo business so they wouldnt have to pay royalties or w/e)

anyway a few years later i went to the states to go shopping with my family and there was a full tcby store, not even an outlet so obviously i had to go check it out, see all the old products i used to make and reminisce so i mentioned to the person working that i used to work a tcby outlet back home at a movie theatre and she was INSTANTLY like "OH, so you get the employee discount" and my $6.00 ice cream was like $2.00 instead TCBY girl, wherever you are, i hope you are living your best life

I had a nightmare that I was a cashier at my mom's bakery, but it was too popular and so many middle-aged white people kept asking me for things we didn't have, like self-serve Froyo, and it was stressing me out so bad I had to kill someone in the store to get it shut down

oh, this is a good one. as far as food goes, i think it's a pretty solid snack to eat occasionally but it's so ridiculous how frozen yogurt shops were like a whole thing for a while. like why was that such a popular mid-2000s trend? is it even still a thing? was it competing with the cupcake shop trend? i never see either shop any more so i assume so. why did frozen self-serve frozen yogurt places become a thing but soft serve ice cream never did? none of it makes any sense but i'd eat some froyo if you put it in front of me right now.

Menchie’s, 3808 W Verdugo Ave, Burbank, CA 91505

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s moved within the same shopping center and opened at the new spot on February 11, 2023. It took over a year for the build out. They built it themselves and kept the tiled wall and other elements of the previous location. The shop looks great – cute and cheerful with lots of images of Menchie and his friends, the green circular tile wall, and Menchie’s green and pink all over.

There are 14 self-serve flavors a day. Froyo and toppings are $0.65/oz. They also have froyo cakes and sell some Menchie’s merchandise. Sample cups were left out on a big circular tray. I didn’t see any waffle bowls (many Menchie’s locations make waffle bowls). They have sauces (chocolate shell), candy, cookies, cereal, coconut, fruit, cheesecake, nuts, chocolate chips, marshmallows, popping boba, etc.

This is definitely one of the better Menchie’s locations. The texture of the yogurt is better. They actually update their flavors (you can see them on the Menchie’s website and app). Service is better too. There are a few tables inside and a nice outdoor patio. Sign up for the rewards program and earn $5 in Menchie’s money when you collect 50 smiles.

Also last night I was thinking before going to bed and I realize how many of my Ocs are just like....the fuckin same. Evil, love to control people, sometimes they like giving up control, they're very feminine, uh...into something but in like the worst way possible. Eats people.

Like maybe I'm just good at making ice cream but they're all slightly different versions of vanilla. Like, wow add Oreos and it's Oreo ice cream or cookies and cream. Or cookie dough, or-
