I've only been watching the Grail War from the sidelines and not been getting involved myself but this latest turn of events feels really... Shit. Like, it started off all fine, like, some heavy hitters, some niche underdogs, then I was like "Oh, Angra's here...? I mean, not too bad, I guess, he has literally appeared in a HGW before..." Then all this Foreigner shit happened and it looks like its really just fucked everyone over and made everything up until this point feel like wasted effort. Like, the decision to kill off Caster and Berserker seems to be actively hindering you, all the alliances mean nothing, and some of your best abilities are nullified? Cu can't Guts, Arjuna can't act after taking a fatal wound, the odds stacked so out of your favour that you literally need over 70% of people to vote on ONE PERSON, no matter who you're rooting for... That just sounds like bad planning and writing on the creator's behalf. If this was an anime, that's fine and dandy because thats how the narrative is planned, but when playing cooperatively with thousands of people... It just feels cheap.

I mean, I want to trust that the writer of this hgw is leading to something and isn’t actively fucking over half the active servants atm just because the foreigner team voted for composure break-I think at least some of this, with ruler’s irritation at everyone not dying quick enough for her tastes and the like was essentially leading up to this

It’s just a little depressing that the normal servant’s groups votes in the prior ~2 rounds are now pointless. It doesn’t matter who won that polling to be the offensive or investigative team, our entire alliance got shattered suddenly bc lol foreigner time. And with it being a free for all it’s a struggle coordinating between the different members who supported a specific servant-even though a decent amount of each HAVE thrown in behind one servant, it still splits it more than if, say, just the two who would’ve been the offensive team if it had panned out like I had presumed had been hit by the special foreigner event.

I have to assume that they’re leading to something though. I don’t want to believe that a writer that otherwise gave a decently fair chance to most sides for victory in every round would suddenly kill five servants off in one round with incredibly little warning or chance to stop it except for the comment that foreigner’s composure hitting zero would do something unusual and the weird actions from ruler. I HAVE to believe that they’ve been a really good writer prior to this

After almost a decade on this site, I found another Tumblr user in the wild. I stopped to tie my shoe with rainbow laces this morning outside the silversmith at Colonial Williamsburg, and I heard it.
