Happy Premiere Day to all!

I have no idea when I’m going to watch the episode, so I will probably be avoiding this side of the net until I have. When I do watch, I can’t promise I won’t liveblog then...but I promise not to spam the tags outside of “peak” hours.

#z things #i am tired #and had to work on things most of the weekend #and even a day off i took #oliver is still getting checks every other week to see how he does at a dose level #and today we were at the er vet because he somehow cut himself or scratched himself super deeply #and i don't know who is more stressed with the vet trips now #me or him #it's a lot #and i have to get to work even earlier #and try to be super alert and focused #to train my new hire #but dear god #i am far from my best right now

Something I always wonder with the whole: "The lazy populous doesn't want to work!" is if it's only being said to keep minimum wage at the very, very lowest end of 'survivability.'

The "lazy worker" isn't truly a problem. The employers are.

#politics #this is my old man conspiracy theory #it's insane when you actually start job searching and you apply fucking Everywhere and it's crickets #job announcement: no experience required! we'll train you! you're actually PERFECTLY qualified #you apply and then NOTHING. and then you listen to the news or other people #and they complain about how 'lazy' the modern worker is and how employers are DESPERATE for people to work for them...#...and you'll end up knowing better if you haven't soaked up the individualist corporate shill propaganda i think...#...that propaganda (at least in the US) is the idea that the individual worker is always at fault...#...that if they never get a job - even 'entry-level' - that it is THEIR fault...#...if you don't want to work minimum wage get a maximun-effort job!!!!!...#...if you want to Get Hired then make yourself Hireable!!!!!!!!!...#...you must be Indispensable (but potentially for $7.25/hour)!!! it is Up To You!!!...#...make records! never ask for anything! never complain! never dare bite the corporate hand which feeds you!!!!!!!!#that's the type of shit i grew up with at least. and i cannot buy that it isn't propaganda in a world hostile to any layman #i wonder if the romanticized version of the 60s-70s working class in the US is completely true as well...#...i just wonder if we are idealizing a past which never truly occurred for the worker...#...simply because these tactics Aren't New and Aren't Considered Morally Reprehensible because of the Bottom Line #this last part is tangentially-related but i always question whenever people have rose-colored views of The Past

HELPP thank you so much i have been on cloud 9 all week 🥳🥳🥳 the context is just a lot of irl work drama but to summarize: i’ve worked in my current lab for the last 2.5 years and back in may a spot opened up for the role above me and i was encouraged to apply bc i had just graduated a couple months prior but they went w someone else instead bc he had a master’s and more experience. and i was offered a temporary full time position through mid october which i’m currently at and it turns out the new guy (who started mid july) is a mega condescending category 10 idiot and i immediately didn’t like him and i was getting really pissed off bc i was the one training him on everything and he was keeping me from doing my work by asking one million concerningly stupid questions but i was like oh maybe im just subconsciously petty bc he got the job and not me. BUT!! it turns out he literally flat out lied on his resume ??? and he has been catastrophically messing up every experiment he has been assigned for the last month so no one else is happy w him either (sweet vindication) so now they’re firing him and offering me his job and i am extremely happy about it. LOL and TEEHEE also

#there is a lot of lore here but no one wants to hear me rehash it in an ask #there was a period of 2 weeks in may while the hiring was occurring that was actively the worst 2 weeks i have experienced in a very very #long time. bc they were handling some things a little unprofessionally #so i am also a little bit petty towards my boss for putting me through that so this is also a little bit me laughing at them #that’s what they get for not just hiring me. but they figured it out eventually so it’s cool #thea did tell all her coworkers and sisters about it so there were like 20 people actively praying on his downfall #including my mom. LMAO #even if for some reason i don’t end up working that job i am still happy he’s getting booted #i cannot stress how much of an idiot he is. and if you lie on your resume and rely on your new training to get you up to speed #why would you be weird and condescending to the person training you instead of LOCKING IN #whatever. i’m so happy #/ask

I'm gonna post this hopefully quickly and then go make bracelets to distract myself bc I wanna get it out but not have to come back to it later . And I will be whining about this on main a lot so I might as well give yall some context first

#i got soft fired.#they said it was bc summertime is slow and they dont have the hours for me #but they also said smth about my 3 month evaluation ? which i was not involved in but i felt like it implied something about my performance #but they didn't say it was about my performance not being good enough #and they also didn't say its just bc of the hours but you're a good employee so don't worry about that #they said they still might call me at some point if they have hours for me again #the words fired and let you go were not used #but. i stg they just hired a new froster. idk for sure but i thought they did #and one of the cashiers (the girl i know actually 😐) said she might get trained in frosting this summer #even tho by company policy youre not supposed to work in the kitchen if youre under 18. shes 16 #but there was no warning or critiques or anything #there was when i first started #but not for a long time now #the manager gave me one note like 2 or 3 weeks ago and not since and that was the first time in a while #i had a panic attack when i got home #idk what im gonna do and idk what to think or feel about it rn #i just . yea #thats whats going on in my life lol anyway

18. do you believe in ghosts and/or aliens? i dont not believe in them, they could exist, they could also not exist, with the size of the universe there definitely is space for aliens, but life was such a coincidence here that idk

and ghosts, theres no way to know what happens after death. back in primary school we all believed the school was haunted though :) i think thats just bc it was literally a few containers stacked together

kind of like this, but crappier, so things malfunctioned a lot, and there was a bit of space under the school that cats ran around in, so there was a lot of weird movement & noises & the walls were so thin you could hear people piss very very clearly :(( if you happened to be in the classroom next to the toilet, so you just heard a lot

25. fave season and why? spring! i like how alive everything is, many animals are trying to mate, so theyre being very loud & out there, the plants are blooming & everything is so so green. and its right after winter, which makes it even more awesome how alive everything is, its not too hot, but not too cold either :)

#there was little tubes out of which hot water came sometimes sticking out of the school #lots of vents spewing out ridiculously hot air in the middle of summer #bc it was a very new school & the building was taking a while to make #6 years i believe #anyways that school was started by parents of the previous school i went to #which was shut down for unsafety #bc the woman who started it was i think just trying to spoil her daughter #that kid never got her hair brushed bc she said she didnt like it #so she gave everyone lice #i think her mom went to jail eventually?#she scammed a bunch of people #i think ive experienced the worst of education possibly #lots of good things too #but ive had hundreds of teachers #literally #so lots of bad ones ofc #that dangerous school started by the scam woman had new teachers every week #bc shed have one disagreement with them (usually about safety) & fire them #& we have a massive teacher shortage so my current school is always very desperate for any teacher #so they just kinda hire anyone #even drunk retired engineers with no actual teacher training #people #asks #zip

yes this is a natural series of events when you've worked at the same place for over a year and it also happens to have RIDICULOUSLY quick turnover where very few people wind up staying on consistently, but ive become one of the Experienced Waitresses That Knows What They're Doing at my job and we very suddenly have a lot of New Teenagers That Have Never Done This Before and it's just. insane to me. bc when i started my job i was SO intimidated like it truly is a big very fast-paced place where everyone has to pull their weight (ie you need to be able to do the coffee station and work the floor and run food and help on bar) and the customers are particularly wankerish so the more Experienced Staff that had been there for a while were like mini gods to me. like truly i thought they were so cool and smart and unbothered and now that's me. i have a gaggle of 17 year olds constantly asking me how to do things and I KNOW THE ANSWER. on a government wage no less

#like it's a BIT annoying bc this is just not the kind of place that should be hiring teenage first-time workers #but the catering industry is doing BAD atm and my manager got told off by head office for spending too much on wages #so he's hiring a load of young people bc guess what! young people have lower minimum wages! some of them are literally on fiver an hour #i genuinely think when i turn 21 my hours are gonna PLUMMET but that's a future me problem #but yeah it means there's like. ten of us that have been working there consistently for months to years at a time #and the rest of the staff are just completely new. like everyone i was working with yesterday were college kids #that had been there a handful of weeks. and im someone who still regularly needs to ask management questions #bc for starters that never goes away like truly u do just need help but also bc I NEVER GOT OFFICIALLY TRAINED #EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED ON THE JOB. DO YOU KNOW HOW STUPID THAT IS #so i have these teenagers looking up at me like 'how do i do x thing' and im like idk either babe. let's quit together #hella slaves to capitalism

Just found out that my worthlessly incompetent coworker got the same raise as me so I will no longer be Working Hard. I will, unfortunately, continue to Work, but I will be Taking It Very Easy from now on. I will no longer bust my ass for this job. I will show up and follow my job description, and then I will leave at my scheduled time. Since they clearly haven't been paying me enough nor valuing me for my hard work this whole time anyway.
