Okay, are you ready? I'm about to make my first fandom post in a long time.
When we talk about alternatives to Harry Potter, lots of folks like to throw out different book series that are generally based around young people attending some kind of supernatural school or camp that has a similar setup but isn't quite the same vibe.
I would like to recommend a TV series that is not just similar to Harry Potter, I would legitimately accuse Jowling Rowling of plagiarizing it ... except that it's not very well-remembered even among Americans of the right age. At least I don't see a lot of people talk about it when we wax poetic about '90s Nicktoons.
I am, of course, talking about Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
So let me set the scene for you. A young boy arrives to his first year at a supernatural boarding school where students learn all about their particular supernatural arts and associated culture.
Our protagonist, Icarus, is nervous about it because you see his father is famous within the culture and as he starts meeting his fellow classmates he realizes that there's an expectation that he'll be top of the class and all the supernatural arts they'll be learning will come easily to him. Even the faculty has high expectations for him.
But then everyone's surprised and kind of disappointed to find out that actually? He's just a normal student like the rest of them, and worse he doesn't actually know much about the more esoteric parts of the culture.
Luckily he has two really good friends who help him through the ensuing school-based shenanigans: A terrifyingly talented and extremely intelligent girl, Oblina, who has studied the culture and history extensively and knows literally everything.
And a goofy ginger, Krumm, whose dad is also kind of a legend in the culture who's always around to cheer our protagonist up, be best bros, find effective if inelegant solutions to their problems, and occasionally be a little jealous of the attention our protagonist gets.
Though of course even his friends can't protect him from the faculty member, The Gromble, who seems to have it out for our protagonist (but secretly very much cares about all of his students, believes our protagonist will be great just like his father one day, and occasionally risks his life to save them).
Or from the one school bully, Zimbo, who's the mean teacher's pet and is relatively intelligent and has a much less intelligent friend, The Snorch, who does all the physical bullying, usually at the behest of the faculty.
And, of course, there's an outsider antagonist, Simon, who threatens their very way of life and is particularly obsessed with our protagonist.
But the trio manage to fight him off at every turn, sometimes even enlisting the help of the rest of the school.
Over the course of the series, the trio and their neverending cast of classmates learn how to hone each of their unique skills all while making sure not to let normal people know they exist because ... reasons, and not going into the dangerous forbidden areas. At least not without faculty permission.
They even travel by toilet.
There are a few different streaming services that carry Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and I really strongly encourage anyone who wants something not only has a lot of the same vibes of early Harry Potter but a lot of the actual literal plot and world-building elements to check it out.

s/o who dies.
A/n: listennnn, I wasn't going to write something dark, but then I unregretfully decided to listen to edgy/dark audios and I was suddenly in the mood to write this so yeah lmao. also, guess what? I'm planning on making a discord server right after posting this! so, be on the lookout for that when I get it all sorted out. also, note for Scaramouche's that the reader inserts tend to lean more femininely versed (I hope that's okay), the only reasons why I do that is because one I simp and I'm female AND two since I am doing a mini-series for Scara, I've kind of based his imagines/fics around that universe (baby daddy universe). I haven't started his yet, but consider these part of that series' universe. anyways as always thank you for requesting anon and enjoy! <333
Summary: you die + how the boys cope afterward.
Parings: Albedo/Gn! Reader, Xiao/Gn! Reader, Scaramouche/Fem! Reader
Warnings: swearing, angst, death, poison, illness/cancer, murder, arson, obsessive behavior
Word count: 2.1k
Albedo
"You need to keep this on your head." Your lover said for the one-hundredth time, placing the cold cloth on your forehead once again after taking it off only seconds earlier.
"This is pointless," You said, no longer wanting to ignore nor hide behind the invisible thick curtains of the obvious death sentence approaching. "My body rejected the medicine the first twice doses, what's a third time going to do?" You asked, knowing Albedo wouldn't answer; your hope was to knock some sense into his thick skull. but he was too worried trying to ignore the obvious as you had previously been doing, not anymore though.
This was saddening to watch, both Albedo's unfolding and the girl who accidentally poisoned you, whimpering into Sucrose's shoulder. She was only a young girl, barely seventeen when she was chosen to work under Sucrose and your boyfriend. She was very good at Alchemy and luckily had a desire to practice the craft. But unfortunately, she hadn't paid much attention when it came to Surcrose's educational poison lesson and had unknowingly mixed up poisonous liquids and materials.
After tipping over some clutter in Albedo's office and knocking over a test tube laying unsealed on the counter, you had realized the contents spilled on your skin, bleaching into your pores. You had been tasked with bringing the famed alchemist and his assistant some vials and materials for the collection of a rare butterfly they had found. It was both telling and obvious that something was wrong when you never showed up with the required materials requested and it was already too late hours later when the chief Alchemist, his assistant, and Alchemist in training came bounding down the stairs of Albedo's home laboratory.
It didn't take long for the trio to realize something was wrong. Sucrose had found the vile on the floor, most of its contents spilled and in a little puddle, plus your state on a nearby lounge chair was obvious; slumped awkwardly, forehead visibly sweating, eyes closed, breathing raspily.
You accepted the first doses of the supposed nullifying medicine without hesitation, just wanting the numbing feeling to go away. But when it never kicked in you decided it would be best to save the medicine, because it wasn't working. Your time was coming.
"Since the medicine is taking immediate effect, you should try to get the contents out of your system," He said, reaching out for you. Badly you wanted to argue that the medicine wasn't working at all, but he wasn't listening and already has his lean arms wrapped around your middle, helping gently lift and guide you over to the sink.
You hear materials being shoved to the side and soon enough you had your head dangling over the sink, shaking hands gripping the metalled edge tightly. Soon enough, Albedo's hand was on your back rubbing up and down, hoping to comfort you, it wasn't working though. You could only think about your death, what the other side would look like. Could there even be heaven or hell, maybe a place in between, maybe nowhere...?
As soon as you felt the urge to vomit, you did, and despite it being utterly disgusting Albedo seemed to welcome it happily. He took this as something good, but it only worried you when you saw the reddish hues in the bile.
"I think they should leave." You muttered acknowledging Sucrose and Elizabeth, the taste of gooey, metal only becoming more apparent. The blonde agreed, nodding and muttering "Okay."
As Sucrose lead Elizabeth towards the stairs, the pair heard you say. "Goodbye Sucrose, Elizabeth." Which only seemed to make the young girl wail louder.
You sighed sadly once the silence was back. Just your thoughts of death, and Albedo's slowly crushing heart.
"You should probably leave soon as well. I don't want you to be here when I go." Albedo frowned at your statement, head shaking.
"Don't say things like that."
Of course, he'd say that. Why did he feel the need to ignore this when it would only come back to hurt him even more later on when you were gone?
"You're the smartest man I know and we both know where this is heading," You said, head feeling much heavier than before. It was getting closer to your time. "I'm going to die, and you can't do anything about it."
"I'm not leaving your side. We promised to stick together through everything, you can't ask me to leave."
"I guess... But promise me this."
"When I go, stop blaming Elizabeth. It was an accident..." You said sincerely. Albedo wanted to make a fuss about it, tell you he'd never been able to forgive her. But for you, he would try. If it was your list desire, your last wish, he'd make it come true. Though it would be difficult. Accidental or not, she was the reason you were leaving him here, alone.
"Okay, I'll try..." He said honestly.
"Thank you," You said, letting out a shaking breath you had been holding for a very long time. Now you felt much more peaceful. "And since I know you stubbornly won't leave," You started, finally turning away from the sink to look into his cerulean eyes. "At least hold my hand."
"Of course, love."
even a year after your death, no matter how hard he tried, there was still this nagging feeling every time he looked at Elizabeth
he wanted too badly forgive her, but he couldn't
she had, although accidental, taken the one person that meant so much to him and he'd never forgive
Albedo is gonna be distant towards everyone he knows and it's completely purposeful
he doesn't like the pitiful gazes that people send his way and he hates that all the captains stared at him at your funeral
obviously, some questioned if he was able to stay in the field
he hadn't taken any time off, even when Jean advised he was welcome and that it would be best
tbh, albedo's going to have a hard time for a while
Xiao
Why did it have to be you? Why not him? He'd feel much better knowing you could live another day, after all, he'd been living a very long time.
But no, the fallen Archons, Gods, Yaksha had chosen you to join them. He wished that weren't the case
Humans and their pathetic vessels... So weak, he thought. Allowing something like cancer to beat them.
No matter how harsh it sounded, he didn't despise you, no. It wasn't your fault. You didn't ask for this. He just knew that if you were a godly being this wouldn't have happened like this or at least not so soon; Xiao had known Gods that had terminal illnesses to live years. Why couldn't you be like them?
He hated watching you lie there in that bed, immobile, sickly, and tired, and all you could say was that everything was going to be alright, that he'd be alright.
But it wasn't. He wouldn't be okay without you. He would struggle daily, fall deeper into a hole. You were the light of his life, the only light in his life. And you were gone, just like that. Turning external scars into internal ones tattered all over his dying heart.
Xiao for the longest time has been by himself, so the people of Liyue know it'll be harder for him to overcome this, no matter what he says or does to prove otherwise
Zhongli in particular knows how hard this will be for his friend
his first and probably last love, dead, gone in the blink of an eye
he'll continue fighting all the monsters he crosses, becoming even more violent when he does so, trying his best to get rid of this stupid sickly feeling of heartbreak
but it won't go away, no matter what he does, no matter how absurd
he just wants the feeling to go away, he despises that feeling so much
if you have a secret place somewhere, like in the mountains, Zhongli often finds him there, wallowing in invisible self-pity
"You know they wouldn't want you to be like this." Zhongli would say, only trying to help
but it doesn't
it only enrages Xiao, even more, fuels him to push everyone out of his life again instead of letting them in like he'd done in your presence
Scaramouche
How dare you. How dare you leave him like this. Alone, nonetheless with a toddler to raise who kept crying for her mommy. He couldn't do this without you, he didn't know how to raise a child, speak to her with the gentle care that you did. That was your expertise but now he'd be doing it solo.
And never again would he entrust someone who he cares about, into ignorant, incompetent arms. Never again will he ever allow any member of the Fatui to watch after his daughter; no matter their rank or position. They had one job while he was away doing business in Liyue. Guard your home twenty-four seven, accompany you into Inazuma's port town should you need anything, watch after his daughter while she plays happily in the luscious Inazuma fields. And they couldn't do that. All he gave them was one simple task, watch and keep you and your daughter safe. Instead, they slacked off, probably drunk in some bar while you were being brutally attacked by murderous mercenaries, left to fend for you and your daughter, only to die protecting her and leave your home to be severely burned.
He knew those idiotic Fatui soldiers were incompetent the moment he stepped foot into the harbor and found that everyone seemed to quiet down. Especially the eerily silent soldiers flanked on each side to welcome him home; he was the highest-ranking soldier in the land of Inazuma after all. Not a single one bothered to step forward and tell him what was wrong, what they all criminally allowed happen. Scaramouche only realized what had happened when he was mere minutes away from arriving home, his daughter had come running from his widowed mother's arms, the sight of smoke rising in the air, from the direction of his home. You were nowhere to be seen.
It all happened so fast, in the blink of an eye. His daughter was clinging to his shirt and his mother only stared with tears of pity.
It didn't take long for the puzzle pieces to be put together and before he knew it, Scaramouche was standing in front of his home, part of it burnt to a crisp and black.
He didn't need to ask what happened, he didn't need to know where you were, because he already knew. What he didn't know was who exactly had done this. But he was going to find out, now.
Incompetent, selfish, bastards. They would all pay for this. The lazy piggish Fatui soldiers who he should've never trusted with such a simple task and the thieves who had murdered you. They all had it rightfully coming.
Scaramouche hates the world after he lost you
he hates it so much and can't understand how this had happened
he's not a good person, so he blames it on karma and those stupid idiots who couldn't protect you
ngl, he's not gonna be around much after your death... his mother would argue that he should be here to raise your daughter, because she's also in pain and doesn't understand that this isn't some game of hide and seek this time
instead, he's focused and driven by revenge
he doesn't listen to a word anybody says, he's much more dangerous than before, and he only trusts his judgment
anyone trying to get him to stop his mission, is someone who doesn't want to see him happy he thinks (though that's not true at all. they hate that he is obsessive over this) but he will personally put a stop to that
and he'll only return home to his daughter and mother when he finds who did this and they along with their bloodline is exterminated
while he's gone, the remainder of his family is relocated somewhere he knows they'll be safe, for example, even though he despises childe, he knows his mom and daughter will be safe with his family
sorry, but Scaramouche will hold this deep-rooted hatred and love for you after you die
yes, he still loves and misses you dearly, but he hates you for leaving him alone, hates that although it wasn't intentional and out of your control, that you were gone
no matter how hard you tried to fight, it was selfish of you to leave him like this
he's not going to stop until he believes whoever was behind this is dead
and in his case, he'll stop believing when he chooses, even if they are innocent/guilty, he'll keep going

SAME ANON AS BEFORE RE:MAXIDENT ALBUM, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR UR THOUGHTS!! BUT ALSO SO HAPPY U PULLED CHANGBIN!!! (assuming he’s ur bias and all)
the album is so!!! interesting!!!! every track is a love song in its own type of way (except super board which is just.... nyooom???) so everything has a pink skz flare, unsure how else to describe it... there was so much anticipation with maxident given oddinary's success, and i think this album was a great follow-up!!!! the vibes are there, the aesthetics are there..... i'm gonna talk abt the tracks in order since i feel so differently about each of them fjksjsmjn i.e. no mv talk bc only case 143 came out & pink-seungmin makes me well up with tears. but heart monsters are so cute i cannot WAIT to own one 🥺💜
1. case 143
WHAT A TITLE SONG!!!! let me just reference this article that describes it as "a love song for someone who gets easily distracted" bc THAT'S ME!!!! SO MUCH IS HAPPENING!!! it has the same build as maniac, felix in the first chorus and then hyunjin in the second, verses of raps weaved expertly between each other, a strange sweetness in the oddity that the last album branded them with. there's so much story in the song, the concept of investigation and crime and this chase that this unexplainable emotion is spurring them into. this song has SURPRISES! literally, the BOOM & BANGS!!! the police sirens!!!! changbin's "can i be your boyfriend" & "no cap" have not left my brain!! other honorable mentions: chan's abcdefg?? SEUNGMIN'S BRIDGE???? anyway it has wormed its way onto my top5 fav skz title tracks <3
2. chill
there's nostalgia to this song? i have no idea where it comes from, maybe it's from an old kpop song or another skz track.... and there's a saxophone??? like HUH WHAT WOW?? jisung's tracks (even though i can't name others specifically lol) seem to have a dreamy quality to them, the lo-fi sound making them perfect for drives with ur windows down. like, i think this is a good song to show to a non-kpop or skz listener? it's solid! the music! the vocals!! it's actually a breakup song & even without really knowing what the lyrics are, there's a bittersweetness to the performance that gives u sentimentality? The Vibes are Immaculate
3. give me your TMI
whoever the FUCK is in the chorus as background vocals, we need to SPEAK. it's funky garage noise!! it's background music for a heist!!!! changbin's intro rap reminds me of the impression that thunderous left on me, the dude just spitting & me going wild with it. he literally can go "ding dong daeng" for 3hrs straight & i'd listen to it. also, i can't believe this song is 2YRS OLD?? IN THE LAPTOP FOR THAT LONG??? so the whole point is "I Am Curious About You" & it just. HITS. it WORKS. like what is GOING ON with this song?? it might be my fav off the album solely for how confused it makes me feel. AND THE BRIDGE?!!!! i am a SUCKER for a bridge that slows it down with honey vocals (2min, i'm aching for u) KIM SEUNGMIN HAS MY WHOOOOOOOOLE HEART
4. super board
completely candid i am not a fan of this type of sound :| it's not my style, where there's less melody in favor of more noise (no shade but think nct127). but it's still a fun song!!! the nyooom is so silly to me; there's a playfulness to it that fits the album!! it's like a dialed back version of cheese, if that makes sense? it's literally for skaters. this is definitely the most experimental of the tracks & maybe it'll grow more on me? who knows lmao
5. 3racha
"1 2 3 racha get spotlight" WOW this is just 3min 28sec of 3racha bragging & i lie down at their feet for that. Good For Them! before maxident dropped i've been obsessed with heyday & whatever "i'm stacking EXP just like a mountain" means. and the DRRRR POW noise. and that bed squeaking noise that has an actual term that i can never FUCKING REMEMBER... ANYWA 3RACHA SUPREMACY.,..,.,, producer trio doing the MOST! i love how chan raps in english, gets to do witty play on words just like binsung can in korean, being AUSSIE AS HELL. iconic lines: "my boys spittin' facts they locked & loaded" & "y u mad brah?" *gunshots* *dies*
6. taste
seeing red lights ot8 made listening to this song make me go, oh. it isn't-- this song isn't quite a sequel to red lights, which is more desperate & dark imo. this song is taunting, inviting. this song exudes a certain ambience that is, to put it simply, sensually sexual. dimly lit bedroom with rose petals scattered everywhere you can see. which yknow. yeah. what the fuck can i say. what the fuck. skz what the fuck.
7. can't stop
this is aftercare after 3racha & taste, which i agree to wholeheartedly. i'm literally crying listening to this song, which by no means is a song to cry to! it's so sweet!! i love vocalracha!! i love that they chose to showcase themselves in this upbeat, cute & wholesome confession song!!! don't get me wrong about the angsty ballads; they have a time & place but WE NEED A SONG OF PURE JOY & EXCITEMENT IN THIS ALBUM!!! AND THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!! frolicking through meadows sort of vibe at the end of a coming-of-age kdrama movie. i'm still crying.
8. circus (krn ver)
i loved this song in japanese & that rings true for the korean version too!!! it throws me off hearing it in a language i'm more familiar with since i've had the original version on repeat lol i don't normally listen to kpop group's japanese releases but this was an exception! i love all the elements of the circus they build into the song, the animals, the fire, the fanfare, the lyric painting with the iconic carny tune... geez this song is so GOOD for WHAT
tl;dr maxident is stuck in my ears for the foreseeable future & i'm a seungbin stan who has yet to pull a seungmin T.T
#anon#reply#stray kids#maxident#when i get the rest of my albums.....!!!!!!#this is why i can't do twitter i have no ability to talk abt things i like unless someone prods me with a stick

Star Wars: Visions - Episode 7: The Elder
Onward into the last trio of Visions episodes! This has been nothing but enjoyable thus far, and I’ve heard good things about these last three. Episode 7: The Elder Produced By: Trigger Inc. Directed By: Masahiko Otsuka After six episodes, we finally have one that definitively takes place in the Republic era. I’ve been regarding these shorts’ indeterminate time periods as I see them, but with a bit of misfiring: the one I thought worked perfectly in the post-ROTJ era turned out to take place far in the past (and in an alternate take on the series), and the one I thought would have worked well as an Old Republic piece turned out to be intended as a far-flung sequel. But this time, we’ve got a relatively solid timeframe established in the short itself. Some time during the time of the Galactic Republic, two Jedi - a master and his padawan - patrol the Outer Rim when they are suddenly distracted by a sudden flare-up in the Force: a call to something dark and unknown. Arriving on a backwater planet, they track this disturbance to a mysterious old man who traveled into the mountains recently. But something seems wrong, and the more they investigate the more it they find ties from this old man to the thought long-dead Sith, as well as hints that the whole encounter might just be a trap...
This is another “Jedi arrives at a simple village, and is forced into a battle with a darksider“ story - unsurprising, when narratives like that are so popular, and each of the short films were made independently of one another. This time, much more attention is placed on the darksider themselves. The setting of this one illustrates its tension: this is a time period before The Phantom Menace where the Sith were believed extinct, so sudden clues to imply they may still be around are unbelievable and deeply unnerving to the main characters - and this slow unsettled atmosphere composes the center of the short. In the end, the heroes defeat the villain, but obtain no answers - as they must not, for the Sith won’t reveal themselves for some time - and the story ends with them moving on, unsure.
The master and apprentice are fun characters. Not quite as developed as some of the other characters we’ve seen thus far, but they do have a fairly fun banter to them. It’s a trend that masters and apprentices end up countering each other in personality to a degree in Star Wars - wilder masters beget more serious padawans, and vice versa - and it continues here: the master being a dour, cautious and somewhat paranoid sort, whereas the padawan is emotionally expressive, lacking in worry and ever-direct in his words and actions. You can tell that they are wildly unprepared for what they are about to walk into - even the master, who is knowledgeable and powerful enough to face it regardless - and that endears them to the audience as the story goes on.
The antagonist is is the biggest draw, however. A murderous swordsman type: obsessed with nothing but the fight and proving his skills in battle by luring hapless opponents into battles to the death. It’s a character type that’s fairly common in samurai narratives, and thus one which I’ve always been surprised to see so little off in Star Wars media. Eschewing most of the Sith ideology, the Elder only cares about bigger and bigger challenges, deadlier and deadlier stakes. He is introduced having massacred a giant monster, and ends gleefully throwing himself into a fight with someone he knows may be his better, murdering and manipulating all the way to ensure that the fight happens. And the fight itself reminded me somewhat of the fights from the Filoni series, particularly the Obi-Wan and Maul fight in Rebels where the visual direction was all about getting more out of less. The motions are less elaborate, but are instead quick and deadly, which ups the impact. The Sith having a pair of light-shortswords made espeiclaly for an interesting fight - digressing again, but I’ve always felt branching out into different kinds of lightsaber weaponry would allow the series to evolve the swordsmanship aspect of the Jedi and other force users a bit more. The idea of giving Rey a light-pike, for instance, was one that got a lot of traction for a while and one I wish the films had adopted. There’s a degree of baby steps in regards to how versatile the Jedi can be that the main series tends to adhere to whereas these short films in general have not felt constrained by - whereas the light-weedwhacker of The Duel is obviously a bit excessive, the idea of shortswords or longswords for Jedi, or other varieties of bladed weapons, is something imo the series could well look into. If there was one thing that felt off about his one, on the other hand, it was the animation as a whole. It isn’t something I’m unfamiliar with, watching anime as much as I do you’re sure to find a few series that do the same thing, but it may be a bit jarring to go from the previous short films - which were very fluid and expressive in animation - to this one, which is a lot more stiff. Everything is very intricately and elaborately drawn - with deeply etched character designs and vivid backgrounds - but very limited in animation, with less physical emotion and range. A curious choice, given how Trigger’s other film - The Twins - in this set was the complete opposite: extremely animated in all respects. Characters mostly just move their lips and incline their heads, until the fight starts - and the fight itself is, again, an example of getting more out of less. There are thus times in the short where the shot almost appears to be static for long periods of time. This is, once more, a stylistic choice which I am not unfamiliar with, but I’m not as sure that it affords well to the film’s story. But it does have the effect of also drawing attention to the antagonist - The Elder himself is by far the most vividly animated character in the story, and it makes him and his menace fly off the screen in comparison. All in all, a good episode. But that’s not the only thing we’re here to look at. As you’ve probably cottoned onto by now if you’ve been reading all of these, the Visions shorts are all currently non-canon. However, in a franchise like Star Wars it is not uncommon for installments like this to get examined for official continuance if they have a lot of support from us, the fans, and - importantly - if they fit well into the universe. So here, we’re also looking at whether each short fits into the universe, and how well. And what are the chances of this one fitting into the universe? Pretty Good Odds. This short was careful to design itself such that it could easily fit into the time period it takes place in: another backwater planet with a sheltered culture, making it unlikely to contradict anything, two remote Jedi with a far flung assignment also unlikely to contradict anything, and the characteristics of the setting are actually baked into the plot: the Jedi of this time have no idea extant Sith still exist, and thus are left stymied by the mystery this Elder presents. In the end, they obtain no answers, either: only smoke and ambiguity of a lost lead. So I could easily see this being popped right into the continuity with no hassle to anyone. And it would definitely be interesting to see: did the Elder really leave the Sith to pursue his own bloodlust. If so... that was his history? If this short accomplishes one thing, it’s delivering on the mystique surrounding the SIth. Not to mention giving the world a few more nightmare faces to dream about - nobody in the Star Wars universe is scarier than a Sith on the prowl...

6. WILD CAT
Dean’s Pov
Living with a woman…
Living with Y/n.
No one warned me. Living with a girl, and a girl you want. I never knew that.
In my life, I lived with Sam, with my dad, I “lived” in Hell and Purgatory. And in my car for months. I have shared rooms with Cas, and occasionally with other hunter friends during hunts before Sam came back. And for one year, I lived with Lisa, but it was different. It was her house, she was my girlfriend and I was… depressed. And Lisa, she… She was not Y/n, she didn’t have that effect on me.
Now is very different. The bunker is my home for real, and Y/n… I have no idea why this woman makes me loose my mind like that. I want her. I crave her. And since I had her, it’s way worse, it’s unbearable... And now she’ everywhere.
She’s not invasive, not at all, she’s even discreet, and like I expected, very independent. Like a cat you only see when she needs to eat or walks in the same room as you… A cat you can’t touch because you can feel she’s still totally wild and has claws.
But she’s here. And every little thing brings me to the memory of her strong thighs crushing my hips in ecstasy.
The bedroom we gave her smells like her, and when I walk to mine, I hear her music on the way, muffled behind her door. That third toothbrush in the bathroom, and the smell of wax. The books she reads all day, eager to devour all bunker’s knowledge, and she forgets everywhere she goes.
Maybe the worst is hearing her sorry voice saying she will hurry when I find the bathroom door closed ; imagining her behind the door, maybe naked, maybe brushing her wet hair or whatever…
I really should focus on our researches to find a way to get rid of that vampire mafia, but I can’t really focus on anything lately. The contacts we have, the leads… It goes nowhere for now and I should work harder.
I walk to the kitchen and find her there, she’s wearing that sweatpants she took off to straddle me. Her back is on me, her head is low, she’s reading something, and my eyes fall on the curve between her lower back and her butt.
Was it bad ? Sex with me ? Was it disappointing ?
Don’t be so ridiculous Dean. Overthinking everything like a stupid teen. Do you think because a woman had sex with you, she would want more ? Why would she ? Not because you are obsessed with her, she would want anything to do with you…
Look at her. She doesn’t need a man, she doesn’t need anyone.
I haven’t had my first coffee yet, and I’m already losing my freaking mind. She’s there, she’s right there, and I know how she feels around me now...
“Hey” I greet her, trying to sound casual.
“Hi Dean” she turns around, a book in one hand as usual, a cup of coffee in the other. “I made coffee.”
I take a mug and pour some of that extremely strong coffee she makes every morning. Strong like her, black like that leather corset she wears in the battle field. That freaking corset that was drying on the bathroom the other day, that tight… Black… piece of clothing..
“I may have found a job, lame job but still. At the gas station” she says putting the book about demonic possession on the table.
“A job ?”
Why would she want a job ?
“Yeah, so I can pay my… you know my stuff, food and all” she shrugs. “Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean I’m settling in.”
I wouldn’t mind.
“I told you we had fake credit cards. If you need anything, just take the one I gave you.”
“Dean…” she smiles kindly, taking a sip of her coffee and I realize I just love my name on her lips. “Fake credit cards are a privilege for hunters, because you can’t risk your life at the other end of the country and have a job, you protect civilians… I’m not even a hunter. I’m a freaking vampire slayer.”
“Well, Buffy, Sam found a case, would you come with us ? Or do you really want to work at that gas station ?” I smile wide, showing teeth, trying to stop looking at her naked thigh sticking out of the table.
“What kind of case ?” she asks nonchalantly.
Looking at her innocent expression, I can’t help but think of what happened. She… She freaking straddled me and took me right there… Since then… Nothing.
It’s like nothing ever happened between us, like I never came deep inside of her, like I didn’t want her. She knows I wanted her, she felt it, and I felt her need, I heard her pleas on the phone and I saw her beautiful orgasm on her face... Now nothing. Except I’m going crazy.
She seems to think hard, and finally answers.
“Okay. Let’s hunt with the legendary Winchesters” she chuckles. “When do we leave ?”
“As soon as you’re ready, Sweetheart” I state, using that nickname on purpose.
Reader’s Pov
Eyeliner.
Those dark eyes look back at me in the mirror, their black line making them harder, colder, and those stern pupils I was so used to. I tighten the cords of my corset, strangely loving the strong feeling of being held so strong, and the pressure on my spine.
I remember the first time I dressed like this. I was way too young, sixteen maybe or even less, and I needed to infiltrate that club. A really shady club...
I couldn’t afford clothes, I could barely afford food ; so I borrowed a corset from that prostitute that gave me food once or twice, Silvia. She hid me from her pimp several times, and told me to never take free drugs and to stay away from men in general… She was nice with me, and she’s probably one of the reasons (with the Supernatural books) I never gave up to selling myself when fear and hunger were unbearable.
I had never worn anything else than that dirty hoodie I slept and lived in for years, and it was the first time I could actually dress up and look in a mirror, hurrying in her bathroom while Silvia wasn’t home. I used her makeup too…
I felt so strong when I left her shitty apartment, for once I had made a choice, for once I was in charge… I killed two vampires that night.
And Silvia was found dead before I gave her the corset back, one of her “client” decided rough wasn’t enough, he decided the bruises and the humiliations would be more pleasant if those fucking rapes ended up in murder…
I found him. I killed that son of a bitch.
But the time after she died was the worst of my life. Not just because no one gave food to me through the window, because after discovering monsters are real the hard way… I was discovering the worst monsters are human. And those monsters, there was no Winchesters to burn them. I was too young and I lost all hope…
But I had that corset and a sharp knife. So I decided, as long as I had that, I will make their blood flow… And I did.
A wave of sadness goes through me thinking that corset burned in my apartment, the original one, Silvia’s memory.
That is what Dean doesn’t know about me. That is the reason I can’t let go to that desire I feel for him. Not only I have to stay away from this naivety that made the child inside me crush on him, because naivety is weakness and weakness is death…
But also, he wants to see me as a hunter… And what I am is a killer.
I get out of the bathroom and walk to the war room with the bag they gave me to pack my things. I don’t have much, but I really don’t need a lot, the only thing is…
“Could one of you lend me a jacket ?” I say, putting my bag on the table. “My coat burnt and...”
Dean jumps from his sit, nodding, and walks pass me.
“Won’t be as fitted as your clothes though” he states, eyeing my cleavage for a second.
“That really doesn’t matter” I assure him.
When he comes back, he hands me that beautiful dark blue jacket he wears a lot. And I feel like a freaking cliché when our fingers touch, and even more when I wrap myself in that jacket of his. The little scared teen in me screaming in my head.
But that teen is dead a long time ago, and I intend that she stays dead.
Dean’s Pov
Y/n is fierce against vampires, but she’s just as much against any other monster.
Since we left home, we have solved one case after another, without any break like Sam and I did some times, mostly when one of us needed to unwind for some reason.
This time, all of us do need relief, for different reasons. And we make the best team… ever.
Everything is perfect, her sharp mind completes Sam’s brain, and her formidable fighting skills make our trio almost invulnerable.
And after the job is done, drinking a glass of whiskey with her really feels like hanging out with my best friends.
Y/n fights like this ghost, like this ghoul, like this shapeshifter was precisely the one who killed her parents. She is an efficient killer, if she decides that you’re dead, your head hits the floor before you realize it. It’s a freaking execution.
And watching her using those moves, both smooth and sharp to end the worst creatures of the universe makes me all dizzy every time.
She’s graceful in her ferocity and hunting with her adds something Sam and I never had, not even with Cas or Jack or anyone : an action movie vibe or something like that ; I think I never enjoyed hunting that much.
And I have to admit none of it helps with my obsession. I didn’t know I could be hard as steel while burning a corpse…
But as efficient as she is, able to kill without more than one stroke, she can also enjoy it… cruelly.
She’s like a cat that could end that mouse with a single bite, but plays with it a little.
She’s fucking scary.
Right now, the mouse is a 240lbs werewolf with a special taste for captivity and young hearts. He and his friend made their own little reserve in his basement, but it took us less than six hours to find who they were.
She broke his knee, stabbed him in the back, and watches him try to crawl to the forest now. She’s smiling wide, her face covered in red dots from the throat she cut just before.
“Crawl, crawl little bad wolf” she hums, turning around him like a shark.
“Dean” Sam tries to get me out of fascination, I know he things we should end the beast but I’m not giving her orders… It’s her pray.
My eyes are on her and I can’t really move, fascinated by her every move.
This woman is not like anybody else, and that monster massacre we’re on for a few weeks, it got me high on blood and on her. My body is filled with adrenaline, I’m horny and hungry constantly, my few hours of sleep are so deep I feel like dying every night…
“Y/n !” Sam calls her and she turns toward us.
I know my pupils dilate when her burning eyes find mine.
“Kill him” my brother almost whines.
She sighs, walking toward the car behind us, she hands me the gun when she walks pass me. It doesn’t entertain her anymore.
I take three quick steps to him and put a bullet in the werewolf’s head. Sam puts three little drops of that magic oil she taught him to do, says the incantation, and the body catches fire. That fire that wont spread, but that won’t stop until nothing is left of his target. This thing changed our life…
Tonight, Y/n has a room of her own.
When we can, we try to give her some privacy, and I have to sleep in a room so boring… a room that doesn’t have her in it.
“Y/n is really good” my brother says, putting his bag on his bed, but I know something bothers him. “And… I mean, with her we save twice more people.”
“But ?” I ask sternly, grabbing a beer in the fridge.
“She really likes to kill, Dean.”
“I do to, Sammy” I state honesty, able to admit it without a flinch now.
“I mean, don’t get me wrong” Sam ignores me. “I know she’s a good person and she proved a thousand times already that saving people was the real goal for her too. But she’s… I don’t know, wild ?”
When he says that, my heart misses a beat. She’s wild, yes, and she awakens something in me that I didn’t know.
“I feel like hunting with a time bomb sometimes” he sighs.
“I’ll talk to her” I say, ignoring the confused look on his face.
Of course, that was not what he was expecting, like you could just tell someone they’re a time bomb… But Y/n and I, we have a special relationship, and I really feel like I can tell her anything.
I knock and she opens with her gun in her hand, smiling when she comes face to face with me.
“You need something ?” she asks, letting me in.
“Just talking” I state.
“Okay” she frowns. “I’ll take my shower, after. Whiskey ?”
I nod and she takes a big sip directly the bottle, handing it to me.
“Sam thinks you’re a time bomb” I declare with no introduction, drinking way too much from that bottle.
She freezes, chuckling a little with her eyebrows raised.
“Sammy’s afraid of me now ?”
“He’s not afraid” I grunt, feeling the alcohol increase my desire for her. “He thinks you’re wild.”
“Wild, huh ?” she laughs, a mocking expression in her voice and on the corner of her lips.
I want to make it disappear from her pretty face, I need to see this grin turn into that ecstasy face that looks like a slight pain. I lick my lips.
“Well Sweetheart, you are” my voice is suddenly lower and she starts searching my face.
“And is that a bad thing ?” she shrugs.
I get up, and come near her, feeling my blood boil in a feeling between an inexplicable anger and a raging desire.
“Are you untamable, tigress ?” I groan, my eyes going from her bloody cleavage to her amused face. “Do you think it’s funny ?”
“A little, yes” she chuckles when I make her walk back. “What do you think you’re doing, Caveman ?”
I lose control of my hands and grip her waist, my nails digging in the black leather of that damn corset, crushing her body with mine against the wall.
When I try to kiss her lips, she turns her head slightly, offering me her jaw to bite instead, and I do. She doesn’t want kisses, she doesn’t want anything tender. I would love to give her more than sex, but so be it…
My hand finds her neck, taking it to keep her still and she groans.
Her hands fly to the thigh holster she’s still wearing and grab her gun. In a split second, the barrel is pressed against my temple, but I don’t flinch.
“I could kill you just like that, Winchester” she groans and I still don’t move.
“Go ahead, tigress. Kill me.”
She smiles hand I start nibbling at her naked shoulders with that gun still on my head, rubbing myself on her like a freaking dog in heat, groaning in her ear, my thumb spreading the mix of blood and sweat on the side of her burning neck.
When I let go of her neck to start undoing her pants, she bends and bites my shoulder, hard enough to make me scream in pain and wrap my hands around her throat again.
“Freaking cat” I grunt, struggling with her belt with only one hand.
When I finally manage to open it, I slip my finger in it and she lets the gun fall loudly on the floor. My hand finds her folds, and a grin appears on my face.
“You’re soaked, how surprising is that ?” I let out in a growl, slipping my middle finger through her folds, teasing her clit and entrance.
“Fuck you, hunter” she groans, but a desperate moan escapes her lips and my cock twitches so hard it hurts. So I let go of her delicious pussy, the smell of her arousal coming out of her panties along with my fingers.
With my shaking free hand, I almost rip my pants open and push it down, not realizing I’m squeezing her neck a little harder in my eagerness.
Her face is red and her mouth agape, she licks her lips and another insolent smile appears on her beautiful face. I know I can’t let go of her or she will attack me or run away.
“Take your pants off” I command unable to do it myself, and she lets her head go back. “DO IT WILD CAT !”
She pushes her jeans and panties down enough so I can take it off with my foot. And without losing another minute, I grab her thighs, spreading them for me, and carrying her.
“GRAH” she cries out when I enter her without any foreplay, burying myself between her throbbing walls in a sharp thrust.
I could come right now, the tension accumulated in me for weeks making me as feral as she is in battle.
“Yes, fuck yes !” I moan is her neck, as I start to thrust toughly, banging her hips on the wall each time.
She grabs my hair and tug at it hard, but I ignore the pain and keep chasing that ecstasy only her can give me so good.
“D-Dean…” she suddenly almost pleads, vulnerable.
I look up and notice she is struggling to breath.
“C-Corset” she whines.
Without withdrawing, I grab the knife on the table and brutally cut the lace caging her. The second I free her, she gasps and grabs my belt on the middle of my ass, encouraging me to take her harder.
And I do.
She can’t open her eyes now, her head back on the wall, her mouth open, and it’s too much for me to finally win that from her.
I reach my high so violently that I almost make the two of us fall, her hungry walls milking me strongly right away, her thighs shaking around me while her hands desperately try to push me.
“Y/N FUCK !” I yell, lost in both our orgasms mixing together.
Panting in her neck, I dread the moment she will push me away. So I enjoy every single second against her skin like it was the last… It probably is anyway.

Pridecember 2019 Day 6 - Paranoia
Ship: Yami Yugi || Atem / Seto Kaiba (Prideshipping)
Summary: One-shot. Kaiba is paranoid over the Malefic Monster and his continuous research isn’t helping his mental health. Atem tries to get him to stop, but this is Kaiba we’re talking about here.
Author’s Notes: I wasn’t originally gonna write a one-shot for any prompt this year, but December is already hectic as it is and fics are a good way for me to give drawing a break. Plus Shield is addictive and I’m hunting Shiny Scorbunny atm to finish my Shiny Starter trio and then I’m hunting Gigantamax ‘mons for YGO themed teams and ahhh it’s too much fun. I find fic writing rather easy (but then that’s probably ‘cause they’re rubbish in the end) - I just need motivation to do it. Anyways, enjoy!
^ - Taken from Dictionary.com
“Paranoia [par-uh-noi-uh]
noun
1. a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions and the projection of personal conflicts, which are ascribed to the supposed hostility of others, sometimes progressing to disturbances of consciousness and aggressive acts believed to be performed in self-defense or as a mission.
2. baseless or excessive suspicion of the motives of others.” ^
-----
OK.
This was getting … reeeeeally concerning.
Atem’s casual stance did not reveal the worry he felt as he watched on. He was leaning against the doorway, currently unnoticed by the occupant of the room. Yet his eyes flashed with concern.
Kaiba was sitting at his desk, feverishly typing away on that … big … rock thing. What was it called, a com … computer? He’d only been back in the modern day for two weeks and Yugi’s teachings of gadgets hadn’t quite got through to him yet.
Yes, even though he’d been Yugi’s aibou for goodness-knows-how-long, the technology hadn’t really mattered too much to him. It wasn’t like he was going to use it himself, right?
...
Atem shook his head softly. No. This was no time to be thinking about his modern lessons.
…
Ah-hm. Kaiba was tapping away, seemingly determined to finish whatever was on that … computer. But it wasn’t the fact he was typing that was getting Atem so concerned.
It was everything else.
Hair dishevelled. Eyes seemingly full of panic. The rigid seating position. Doing the search at home instead of working at KaibaCorp.
This wasn’t normal Kaiba behaviour.
Atem took a breath and sighed.
“Kaiba -” he began.
“Pharaoh, I’m not stopping until I dig up something - anything - on who this ‘Rosenkreuz’ character is.”
Atem’s shoulders slumped. He pushed himself off of the doorway and walked slowly towards the brunet. He stopped just in front of the desk and put both hands down on the table, palms against the smooth surface.
“Kaiba, please,” he tried again. “Take a rest. Have something to eat.”
“No,” came the curt reply.
“Look, we both don’t like him as much as anyone else does,” Atem continued. “But he’s gone for now. He’s welled up deep within you recharging until he can take over again. But you - you need a recharge yourself. So please -” He rounded the desk and put a hand on one shoulder. “Take. A break.”
Kaiba stopped typing and turned to look at Atem. Now the former Pharaoh could see the tiredness in those blue eyes … and … distress?
“I have to keep going,” the brunet stated as if it were a fact. “Every minute wasted on resting myself gives him more time to take over again. I need to stop him from doing that - sooner rather than later, preferably.” He added this last bit with a dry tone.
Atem closed his eyes and let out a breath. “You’re paranoid,” he admitted bluntly.
Suddenly it was as if energy had been injected into Kaiba’s veins. His eyes widened and he slammed a fist on the desk.
“Me? Paranoid?!” he shouted. “I’m only preparing myself, Pharaoh! I am NOT paranoid!”
“The obsessive searching, the refusal to rest,” Atem pointed out. “Face it Kaiba, you are definitely paranoid about losing control of yourself when he comes back!”
“You know what?” Kaiba stood up, his chair rolling backwards, as he turned and towered over Atem. “I don’t need you telling me what to do and if I am being paranoid. I can make my own damn decisions and I don’t need YOU acting like my caretaker! Now do me a favour and get. Out.”
“Fine,” snapped the tri-coloured teen, stepping backwards. “I’ll leave. I won’t try to get you to rest.” He made his way towards the door and prepared to leave, but not before turning back to his friend. “But seriously, Kaiba, I do mean it. A break will refresh your mind. I’ll be in the game room.” And he closed the door behind him as he left.
Kaiba clenched his teeth, furious at being told what to do. All too soon, however, he began to realise that maybe … just maybe … Atem was right. He had been going at the historical search for a while now; perhaps it was time for a break.
He slunk back into his chair and dragged himself back towards his desk.
As he did, he could feel his head beginning to pound.
Oh no …
Not … not now …
“Aww, your paranoia is over me, goody-two-shoes-self?” He swore he could hear that poisonous voice.
Kaiba clutched his head in pain with both hands.
“You’re right to be paranoid over me. I am going to ruin the King - and you will have a front-row seat.”
“No … no …” Kaiba uttered his words whilst fighting with the malevolence trying to take over. “I must … be … the one … to beat him … not … you …!”
“You?” He could hear the Malefic Monster laughing. “You’re too weak to beat him. Whereas I … am strong.”
“I won’t let you!!!” cried Kaiba, finally managing to force the evil influence to the back of his mind. With it safely contained back there, his pounding headache subsided.
“G - god … damnit …” he muttered as he composed himself. “I’m … I’m not … paranoid …”
He refused to admit Atem was right. He may be his closest friend besides Mokuba and Roland, but Kaiba had pride. He was not going to admit to being wrong about paranoia!
Just outside the room, Atem had been listening in on Kaiba’s chat with seemingly no-one. He released another breath and slowly crept away.
Kaiba was definitely paranoid - over losing control.
It was a feeling he knew all too well, after giving up his mortal body to be sealed in the Millennium Puzzle.
He knew the feeling of paranoia - he didn’t want his rival / friend to have any more stress placed on top of him.
Atem glanced back, making sure there were no more noises of pain coming from the room. Once he was satisfied that Kaiba had managed to push the Malefic Monster back for now, he left for the game room.

WIP Challenge
Tagged by: @summertime-children
Tagging: @astrologista, @atsushishelteredinmoonlitjasmine, @benditlikegumby, @cryptoriawebb, @ibmiller, @iceperialprincess, and @otherwise-uncolonized
Challenge: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.
I'll also do what deta did and post comments + short fragments. (Be warned it'll be very long though, and most of these are actually Pokémon fics since I was a much more prolific writer when I was younger, and that was the fandom I wrote mainly for.) I also won't be including "Heroes and Thieves" on here (or any DC/superhero stuff really since I’ve essentially “done” everything I had planned for now), as *technically* it is all already completed in draft form, and I'd like to keep things a surprise for whenever I do end up posting~
Hero and Seek
“Well, we’re all together now, so let’s have some fun, all right? Don’t worry, it’s really simple. One person is the ‘demon’, and the others have to hide from him.” “Eh? A ‘demon’? But that’s scary!” Three pairs of eyes turned up to her in fear. Those eyes, which screamed and streamed the stark color of blood the first time she saw them – not just from tears, but from the ‘monster’ they believed dwelled deep within. She thought for a moment, then removed her scarf. “How about this then? Whoever’s the ‘hero’ has to find and rescue the others. It’s a very important Blindfold Brigade mission!”
I’ll start with the one Kagepro fic I did attempt at least, which I described previously here, but is basically about Ayano + the Meka Trio playing “Hide and Seek” for the first time. (I actually had it originally titled as that but just came up with this new version on the spot lol I’m so clever~) For some reason I’ve always been hesitant about reading/writing Kagefic, but I actually got a fair bit farther in this than I thought, so perhaps I should try to finish it someday... Princes and Frogs
“K-Koizumi-senpai… Um… Please go out with me!” Itsuki stared down at the tiny underclassman, watching a rose mantle spread slowly over her cheeks as she gazed back with shy, but determined hope in her bespectacled eyes. The older boy could make out his own handsome face reflected off the lens, a virtual image embellished by sparkling hearts and stars. With dim satisfaction and relief, Itsuki ensured that his bright, patient smile betrayed no hint of the weary sigh that whispered behind it.
This is an intro excerpt of the first chapter I planned to write for an ItsuHaru fic from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which I only ever posted the prologue for. ItsuHaru was my first obsessive OTP, and I still think about returning to this story someday (especially since I have now proven to myself I *can* finish a full chapter fic if I put my mind to it), but it’s been so long I feel like I’d need to refresh my memory of the whole series/am still holding out hope for a Season 3 to motivate me again. *shot*
Fall to Pieces
As Itsuki stared at Yuki’s vacant visage, his resentment kept building. His hands clenched, rigidly gripping the edge of the table. Somehow, it just didn’t seem fair. That she could so easily ignore the madness fate had dealt them, never reveal any signs of suffering or bitterness towards her situation, and yet always, always wear the same damn expression on her face. How could she possibly stand it? He can’t stand it. (any more)
An ItsuYuki one-shot, where Itsuki basically blows up at her from pent-up frustration over having to wear a mask all the time and his hidden feelings for Haruhi. The two start to form a connection over their respective “unrequited loves”/understanding of each other’s pain, and one thing leads to another... Like “Heroes and Thieves”, this is in fact technically “complete”, since I actually used the leftover steam from the former towards finishing at least one thing I started a long time ago - although I’m still not sure I’m totally satisfied with it/kinda want to wait to figure out what I’m doing with my other ItsuHaru fics before I publish it by itself. (Incidentally the working title comes from an Avril Lavigne song lol.)
Little White Lies
“Perhaps the best thing for the princess would have been to fall in love. But how a princess who had no gravity could fall into anything is a difficulty--perhaps the difficulty.” -George MacDonald, The Light Princess - Haruhi Suzumiya was walking on air. Itsuki could tell by the way she glided into the clubroom, sailing like a paper airplane – or a balloon with an inflated ego to match.
...Yeah that’s as far as I got with this. This was meant to be a “White Day” story, which is Japan’s “answer holiday” to Valentine’s Day, where guys reciprocate by giving gifts to the girls who gave them chocolates. I always wondered how the boys actually responded in-universe, and I imagine Itsuki secretly stressing out a lot about taking care to not upstage Kyon, but at the same time wanting to sincerely express his genuine appreciation and feelings towards Haruhi - whatever they may be. In the end, he settles on a copy of “The Light Princess” by George MacDonald, which I highly recommend reading since it reminds me so much of this pair, and in general is such a fun and snappy “tongue-in-cheek” take on the fairytale genre. Sora in Wonderland
But wait- this one was a bit different from all its brothers and sisters. For one thing, it was wearing a fancy waistcoat with pockets- and sleeves that were far too long for it. As soon as it passed by her head, it stopped and slowly turned its head around to stare directly at her with its huge circular yellow eyes. Sora stared vacantly back for a full five seconds before the information registered in her brain and she suddenly yelled, “Hey!”, and sat bolt upright. The Heartless panicked upon hearing her voice and fled at top speed across the white sands, headed towards an opening in the rocks; Sora jumped down off her perch and immediately chased after it, no longer caring about the heat. The Heartless hastily disappeared inside the cave, and Sora soon followed after, determined to catch the freaky little thing and ask it some questions, like what it was doing on the island at this time, and where on earth did it get a waistcoat.
OKAY SO I TOTALLY FORGOT THIS WAS A THING but apparently I tried to write a Kingdom Hearts parody of “Alice in Wonderland” lmao. I’ve never actually played the games (aside from half of CoM), but it was probably inspired by a crossover art my friend drew? ^^; Also Sora is a girl in this bc that’s my headcanon and I’m sticking to it. XP *shot* Note: The following fics are all Pokémon-related so I’ll just be listing them in roughly chronological order (from most recent to ancient, although they’re all pretty old at this point). Stranger
The elder slowly rose to his feet, gazing at the boy, the champion, the stranger. “In all this time, why didn’t you come back? You could have seen for yourself how she was.” Lance wanted to yell something defiant, like a child. But he wasn’t a child. Children were forgiven for their mistakes. And he didn’t want to be forgiven. The professor’s ancient hand came to rest on the boy’s shoulder. “It’s the way this town works. We don’t talk about things that happen outside our own world. Maybe it was too long ago – too late for you to understand.” Lance didn’t say anything. “At least talk to Delia. She’s been wanting to see you.” “Sorry. It’s too late.” “You’re a bastard.” “I know.”
So this looks to be among the last things I’d written before taking a long break from fanfiction circa... 2007, jeeze. Over 10 years, huh. But, I think it speaks a certain amount of maturity that it’s the piece I liked most upon rediscovering. It’s based on an idea I once had that Lance was (unknowingly) Gary Oak’s father, and he was friends/rivals with Ash’s father, who originally won the title of Champion but relinquished it so he could be with his “wife” and kid (or rather, then-pregnant teenage girlfriend). *Something* happened though (I forget what I had in mind) and he ended up dying, leaving Lance bitter and depressed so he refused to return to Pallet Town because of too many painful memories. (Though he *cough* “comforted” their other female childhood friend for one night of drunken grief before he left. ;() What I like most about it honestly is the parallels bw Lance’s relationship with Ash’s dad and their sons’, and that amidst all the angst I enjoyed portraying the earnest energy and optimism of Ketchum(?) senior (”like father like son” after all). I was definitely inspired by Mitsuki’s father in Full Moon wo Sagashite/Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist by making him a total “dork dad” who’d brag about his (illegitimate) family on national TV during the championship tournament lol.
Ihavenoidea
Either way, I get the feeling this really wasn’t what I had in mind when I made my decision to quit training. I mean that in an intuitive sort of way. Like, sometimes I feel as if I’m not meant to be here, like my life should have ended up differently someplace else. Perhaps this is just one of those weird inconsistencies I told you about. Perhaps not. Even after all that’s happened to me recently, I still can’t really be sure about it.
...No seriously, I have no idea where I was going with this. As far as I can tell it’s written from the POV of Gary Oak, whom I’ve always had a lot of... “complicated” feelings towards. It probably has something to do with another concept I’ll discuss next, although for some reason it sounds like I was going for some sort of AU? *shrug* By contrast to the above, it reads like a whiny teenager complaining about his life - which makes me cringe but is probably an accurate portrayal of who I was at the time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This one was actually dated a little after the previous, so my best guess is it was some kind of vent rant where I would “give up” writing/creating and “childish” ideals for a while, as I was wont to do - but I still always come back to it somehow... RainbowMolly
Molly stepped out from the car and onto the dusty road, her heart beating wildly. She could hardly believe she was actually here, of all places. The ride had been long and mind-numbing with anticipation, and now that they’d finally arrived at the destination, it all felt somewhat surreal to her. A small bear clambered out from the vehicle, joining her as she stopped to take in the rustic view that met her bright blue eyes. She smiled and picked up her Teddiursa, cuddling its warm, fuzzy body close to her own. Her gaze traveled down the road which stretched in both directions, houses lining up against its margins. She followed it with her eyes towards a hill in the distance, on top of which sat what looked like a quaint little farmhouse with a windmill, turning in the summer breeze. She breathed in the country air, catching whiff of a faint salt smell from an ocean in the distance. So this was Pallet Town.
...Why I didn’t actually name the file “Chasing Rainbows” - which was the title I had planned for this - I don’t know. This dates back to an old idea I had where I believed Molly Hale from the third Pokémon movie was secretly the true “God” of the Pokémon world - in the sense that the entire universe was an unknowing fantasy of her own creation, similar to Haruhi Suzumiya (ok fine this was totally a crossover/rip-off of the same concept so sue me OTL). In a place where children never seem to grow up and can go on grand fantastical adventures forever, Gary always struck me as an anomaly who willingly *chose* to forego such a life to pursue more “adult” interests by becoming a researcher. So I saw him as filling the role of “Kyon” - the cynical narrator who was destined to ground “God” and bring her back down to earth, but at the same time be won over by her innocence and charm and learn to appreciate “kids’ stuff” again. However, the Legendaries were actually aware of the power Molly holds, and so saw Gary as a threat to their very being - as by “waking” the dreamer and having her face reality meant erasing their kinds’ entire existence. As the “apocalypse” nearly occurred in the third film, Mew and Celebi took on human disguises (in the form of May and Max respectively) to investigate Ash, who was able to calm Molly and “save” the world by “perpetuating” the delusion (and whom Molly totally has a crush on btw *shot*). So it’s a bit of a love triangle lol, with Mew and Celebi (*cough* an alien and a time traveler, get it? *shot*) acting as mediators/interference. (Although Mew might’ve secretly shipped Gary and Molly herself. ;O)
Betrayal
And these blades, these damned scythes that attached themselves to my arms when I was born, a curse upon me since birth, though it had not been apparent up until now. They were covered with blood, the vital crimson liquid that flows through our bodies, now dripping down the steel surface in a webbed pattern, drops beginning to splatter the pure, emerald grass below. The arm felt heavy and weak as I tried to lift it, as if it did not belong to me, but that was only a wishful thought. I gazed calmly at it, inspecting the intricate designs the flow of the substance had created, as if it were an abstract piece of artwork. Tentatively, a pink tongue rolled out and caught a small droplet of it just before it fell from the sharp edge, just to convince myself that it was real. The semi-sweet, metallic taste confirmed this. I had indeed taken these men’s lives, just as I had taken hers.
So I remember this was written from the POV of a Scyther who seemingly went on a murderous rampage. I only know that I wanted to give him an “Edward Scissorhands”-like story, since the idea of having such sharp objects attached to one’s limbs so that one could never directly “touch” another without being a danger is pretty tragic. I suspect “her” was someone (a human?) he cared about but killed by accident, and after that he was only seen as a symbol of power/treated as a tool to incite fear before eventually rebelling against his “master”... Roses
“If you love someone, you should give them something that’s yours. That shows how much you care for them.” In the darkness, I pictured his smiling face, explaining to me as he wrapped a present for his girlfriend. His blue eyes were shining with a sort of spirit unfamiliar to me; I guessed, a feeling of love.
Another “dark” take on a Pokémon’s biology (I really liked writing explorations of those back then lol), this time of Roselia. The idea was that a Roselia was so in love with her trainer that she would do anything for him - including allow him to cut off her arms so he could give them to his girlfriend. I actually ended up turning it into a poem at one point:
Love is like a rose they say, And affection leads to grief they warned. For in the end love betrays, Its Beauty maimed by a poisoned thorn. You gave me pure water with a smile. Your cheerful face became my sun. I offered up my blood to you, And in return demanded none. Chop off my wrists, and tie them together. I’ll gladly bleed myself to death. In order to give you that which I hold most dear. My dear, my dear, Won’t you accept this bouquet? You take it, smiling warily. A blush creeps onto your face. And in those eyes I can see A garden of roses stretched out, Composing a wondrous place. Then you bound my hands in lace, And brought them to the girl next door. You presented them to her with grace. … My blood continued to pour.
Fanfic
She smiled at me, although something about her expression indicated something wasn't quite right. I watched as she glanced over towards the west, her gaze lingering momentarily on the setting sun. The glowing, orange sphere was slowly sinking behind the distant mountains, peaks cloaked in a pale, lavender haze illuminated by flickering beams of gold and scarlet cast across the horizon.
More accurately, I found this buried in a “catch-all” file where I had several (mostly finished) fics saved. This was meant to be from the POV of an Eevee who had just evolved - supposedly into an Espeon due to happiness and bond with her trainer, which is what both wanted. However, since it took place at sunset, she didn’t realize she had become an Umbreon instead, and her trainer ended up abandoning her for it. ;( It was a warm
Children’s shrieks and laughter echoed across the park as they flocked towards each other, and soon were chasing one another round the playground, weaving in and out between the swings as they partook in an innocent game of Tag. One child was It; she was trying desperately to catch one of her friends so that they would take over the job instead. Then it would be her turn to run away, for none of them wished to play the loathsome role of It. Or was it because they feared being tainted by the person’s touch? It must have been one of the two, for while she would struggle to reach them, catch hold of them, they would only flee, thoroughly enjoying the fact that they were vexing her. Twice she nearly caught one. Her fingertips were almost within reach of one of the other girls’ dresses, whose russet tresses were flowing wildly from the rush of movement and shining with golden highlights as the rays of the sun struck individual strands. The target shrieked and shook her head, whisking her skirt free in time to escape capture, laughing with glee at the sight of the girl left behind, miserable and alone.
Yeah I totally just went with the default beginning of the first sentence lol. I guess this comes full circle with the first Kagepro fic I mentioned (although I’m not even sure I was aware back then that the Japanese version of the game literally called “It” a “demon”, which is even more fitting). I believe this was part of a Pokémon series I was writing involving a creepy little girl and Mewtwo who would bring about the end of the world or something like that, but generally I guess I was just going for a “Catcher in the Rye” feel. *shrug* Golden Lights
The pale, rosy fingers of dawn were filtering in through the Granite Cave entrance, basking a small area near the opening in pinkish illumination. Just out of reach of its expanse sat little Mika, huddled in the gloom of the shadows, watching the light creep steadily towards her as the glowing ball of fire rose slowly towards the East. She knew about the Light that came from Outside. There were plenty other small apertures broken into the cavern walls and ceiling that allowed some thin streams of gold brilliance to trickle through. She had always done well to avoid them. The brightness was like poison to her skin. But they weren’t the Lights she’d had described to her by the old Crobat that always resided now deeper within the underground chambers, dozing now, most likely. He wouldn’t awaken until night came round, and she did not wish to rouse him and perhaps disturb him from a pleasant dream. She was very wise about things like that, being the young child that she was. Still, she would have liked to hear a story to comfort her just then.
Last one I could find, about a Sableye who, like Icarus, literally “flew too close to the sun”. In this interpretation I imagined that Sableye were creatures who could not stand sunlight at all, as it would cause their skin to burn. But Mika (pronounced like “Mica”) always dreamed of going outside to see the “Light” anyway. She was eventually tempted by Mew to leave the cavern under her angelic PROTECTion and step into the Light, who was acting as Ho-Oh’s messenger to “recruit” souls to “live eternal as an element of Ho-Oh’s Guarding Flame“, as the PROTECT faded and a “holy fire” began to spread. I guess I was going for a Biblical/”Rapture”-esque reference. (...Man I sure was obsessed with the endtimes as a kid. *shot*)

Razorwing and the Party Crasher
An idea I’ve had on the backburner for a while now! At a play Razorwing is attending, playing himself, of course, an uninvited guest nearly sets a disaster in motion...
“Ha-HA! You are no match for me, foul beast!”
Razorwing fired a dummy arrow from his bow. The cheap, small bow was nearly a toy, though it looked real enough from the crowd. The arrows were tipped with a soft, pliant material instead of the typical steel or iron it was made of. All of this was so the target wouldn’t be harmed when they were hit.
Wouldn’t want to hurt the other actors, after all! Razorwing posed heroically as the young dragon roared and collapsed in rather dramatic fashion. The dragon was really a black dragon, from when Razorwing fought the beast, but this actor was a green one. It was quite hard to find a black dragon who’s heart wasn’t filled with hatred, much less one that would willingly participate in a...show.
He did, however, look like a black dragon. The young Koutu magician that had signed up to work with the play had cast a spell that wrapped the young dragon in shadow, giving him the appearance of a black-scaled dragon.
“Graaah! This cannot be! I am the great and invincible Lightdrinker! How could a mere mortal like you defeat me?!”
“You underestimate the spirit of Koutu, Human and all other races! Together, our hearts are unassailable!”
With a dramatic flourish, Razorwing pulled back on the small bow and fired, smacking the dragon in the forehead with a dummy arrow, the beast’s head thumping to the ground as the birdman raised his weapon in triumph.
The crowd, overwhelmingly Koutu, went wild, cheering, hollering and applauding as the curtains closed on the stage. Razorwing quickly moved to the side, getting ready for the next scene. The green dragon, shadows already lifting from his form, stood up and shook the rubbery arrows off of him.
“Thanks, Aldyn!” The other Koutu whispered as he hurried to get alongside Razorwing.
“Ahh, it was nothing! I would be a fool to not take such a lucrative offer! I’m off to take a quick nap. I’ll be back for my pay later, catch up with me if you are still here! Good luck, you two!” The dragon quickly unfurled his wings and launched himself through the hole in the roof, designed specifically to get him on and off the stage without the audience seeing.
The young Koutu next to Razorwing excitedly clutched his wand. The birdman was short and had jet-black feathers, along with a short, mostly flat beak, giving him the appearance of a crow. The magician could barely contain himself.
“I can’t believe I’m actually doing this! I-I’m really going to be in a scene with you! Oh goodness, oh goodness, this is real, this is really happening...”
“Ah, don’t be so nervous, Eignach!” Razorwing said, wrapping his wing around the smaller Koutu’s shoulder, “Just relax...and relish in the spotlight!”
Eignach looked almost ready to faint. “O-Oh, yes sir! I-I swear I’ll put on a good show!” The bird shot him a near delirious grin, which made Razorwing ruffle the magician’s head.
“Relax, relax! Everything is going to be alright! Don’t think this play’s the end of this! We’ll have plenty of time to talk afterwards!”
“T-Talk?! Y-You want to talk with me?”
Razorwing suppressed the urge to laugh as one of the other actors headed onto stage, not wanting to ruin the scene. “Sure! But let’s do this afterwards! They’re ready for us! Remember the coaching!”
Eignach nodded. “Yessir!”
Another Koutu stood on the stage, waving his arms and moving his head around as he addressed the audience.
“After his glorious victory against the mighty Lightdrinker, Razorwing soon heard talk of demons preparing an attack on the village of Haven, a small, peace-loving human village, just across a bridge at our border! We have a lengthy history with the people of Haven, one of great closeness and friendship! With the burning desire to protect the humans from the horrible demons, Razorwing set out to Haven immediately! On the way, he encountered a traveling magician, who offered his aid to the great hero...”
Although Eignach wasn’t really who Razorwing had encountered, he fit the bill well enough. Besides, he had been so excited when he showed up to audition...who could say no to a person like Eignach? Razorwing suspected he had a bit of an...obsession with the hero. He suddenly became nervous, tongue-tied and clumsy when the archer was around. He was eager to please him and always listened extremely closely to the larger man. Razorwing couldn’t help but find it endearing.
As the curtains parted once again, a few musicians began playing from the back of the stage. Trumpets and violins softly set the scene of the long road the two stars were making their way down. Razorwing strutted confidently in from the side, holding his bow slung over his shoulder.
“So, tell me magician,” Razorwing said loudly, “Have you any knowledge of these accursed demons?”
“Horrible!” Eignach shouted, hamming it up at tad too much, “Unholy monsters! Destroyers of order and life! Corrupters of the pure and innocent! It is the end of days, mighty hero! Even my magic has no effect! Please, for all life in Deaco, save us!”
Razorwing turned away from the audience before grinning. The small magician was supposed to be a sort of comic relief in the play, but this was too much! How could anyone take this seriously?! He really should have gone over the lines with the directors, the magician he had met wasn’t this desperate. In fact, he was more...sad. Believing it couldn’t be stopped, blaming himself for it. Razorwing had consoled him, and the two bonded on that road to Haven. It would have made for a much more touching scene, only it looked as though the directors wanted a goofy schlockfest instead.
The archer posed heroically and shot Eignach a cocky smile. “Do not worry, dear magician! I shall triumph over the monsters! There’s nothing to be worried about. I am by your side. We can do this, together!”
“Are you sure about that, bird?”
A sudden, deep and distorted voice from up above made the feathers on Razorwing’s body frazzle and stand up.
That voice.
That horrible voice.
He had heard one just like it before.
A large figure leaped down from the hole in the ceiling, landing in the center of the stage. Large, batlike wings. Deep red skin. A deformed face and black eyes. Big, sharp, tusk-like teeth. Cloven feet. A purple aura of corruption surrounding him.
This was a demon. A real, living demon.
This wasn’t in the script. This wasn’t planned. This was never even spoken of. The cast was to use magic to make a few actors look like demons in an upcoming fight scene. No one was mad enough to...summon a demon for this.
The musicians suddenly stopped playing, all wide-eyed. They quickly rushed into the back room as Eignach cowered behind Razorwing, huddled behind the hero for safety.
“W-W-Why is t-there a...d-d-demon?!”
Razorwing swallowed. “I...don’t know,” He whispered.
The demon laughed, the deep, otherworldly chuckle sending shivers up the birdman’s spine. “Not so tough now, are you, ‘hero’?” The demon said in a mocking sneer. “I’m here to extract revenge. You killed my brother. Now you will die, here, in front of all your loving fans.”
Razorwing glanced back at the audience. The Koutu were all excitedly whispering among each other and staring at the trio, transfixed.
Oh no, Razorwing thought, a pit in his stomach, no, no, NO. They think this is part of the play...
The birdman glared at the demon as he stood motionless, thinking his options over. He could fight the demon, of course, only...
Damn it! This baby-toy and these worthless arrows will do nothing! And all my equipment is in storage!
“Yes, this is why I chose now to attack. You are disarmed, with no hope to stop me...”
“Clever bastard...”
A sudden noise behind Razorwing made him quickly whirl around. Eignach had fled, rushing to the exit of the auditorium.
I can’t fight him like this...
Hesitating, Razorwing launched himself into the air and flew out of the hole in the ceiling, fleeing to safety.
The demon laughed. “See how pathetic and cowardly this great ‘hero’ truly is? He has abandoned you, his loving fans, to a fate worse than death. Curse his name as your mind shatters from my might!”
The audience continued chattering excitedly, still all under the idea that this was just another part of the play. Eignach, now at the doors, hesitated as he looked back. The demon was standing front and center, at the head of the stage, and raised his hand out to the crowd.
He’s...oh, by the Shining Lord! He’s going to unleash demonic corruption...upon this entire venue!
The magician clutched his wand as he considered what to do.
Razorwing...he’s just...he’s got a plan! Yes, that’s it! He’s a big hero! He’ll save the day! I just have to trust him! I need to buy him time!
Taking a deep breath, the small Koutu ran back, moving to the front of the audience as he held his hand out, channeling a magical barrier. He had never protected against corruption before, but he didn’t have to win...just buy enough time.
Eignach gasped as the demon’s magic smashed into his barrier like a battering ram. It had nearly broken through immediately. The novice magician strained and heaved against the mighty demonic force, nowhere near prepared for it.
“Oh. Brave one, aren’t you? I felt you buckle. You know you don’t stand a chance, and yet you persist. Hmm...” The demon shot the birdman a terrifying grin as he raised his hand once more.
“You’ll make a fine demon.”
Terror seized at Eignach’s heart. A demon?! This monster was going to corrupt him! His arms and legs shook as he quivered, whimpering under his breath. He couldn’t lose. He couldn’t become like THIS thing. He HAD to win.
As the corruption slammed into him again, his resolve wavered almost immediately. The demon was so powerful, he couldn’t keep this up...
Another wave of magic was all it took. Eignach felt the barrier shatter as he nearly collapsed, completely spent. He quivered and cowered as the demon laughed and leaped off of the stage, marching directly up to him.
The demon grabbed the magician and pulled him into his grip. Eignach could only wriggle his legs as the mighty beast held him up to his face.
“Pathetic. Now you know true might.”
Eignach suddenly felt...funny. His head spun as his vision worsened and thoughts slowed. He felt almost as if he was heavily influenced by drink, only much worse...
The corruption! Eignach had realized now that he was soaking up corruption just by being this close to the demon. Normally, passive corruption, not focused by magic, was a trivial thing, easily resisted by most people for a long time.
Eignach however, had just spent himself mentally on the barrier. Now, he had no more fight in him. Slowly, he felt himself slipping as the demon looked more and more like someone to be listened to.
“How easy this is! I don’t even need to try. You are so pitiful, so weak.”
“Pitiful...weak...” Eignach recited, in a trance.
“Yes, that’s right. A worm like you has no place better to be than beneath me. You will obey...”
“Obey...” The Koutu was starting to feel...pretty content with this. Wasn’t this what he was supposed to be doing, anyway? There had been something else, for some reason he was supposed to oppose this mighty ruler...but he couldn’t remember why.
A sinister laugh made the entire audience quiver. Even though they thought this was still an act, they could certainly feel the demonic nature of the creature before them. “Worthless, broken thing. You shall submit yourself to me.”
“Sub...submit...my...self...”
Even this deep in the trance, Eignach felt...off. He admired this great man, but...something was wrong...
“A little inkling of resistance? No matter, just stay close, feel the corruption enter you, and know your place.”
“My place...”
What WAS his place? He couldn’t remember, but this...pillar of resolve...he seemed like a good enough sort...the magician really liked him, in fact. Maybe he could clear all this confusion up?
Suddenly. a sharp noise made the demon whirl around, just in time for his shoulder to take an arrow that would have hit his head. The demon roared in pain, dropping the bewildered Eignach to the floor.
“W-Whaaa...? My...my place...? Wait...”
The magician muttered to himself as he rubbed his eyes, straining to see what was happening. From the roofhole, an avian figure stood triumphantly, illuminated by the sun, longbow in hand.
“R...Razorwing!”
Suddenly, everything came flooding back to Eignach. His will slowly rebuilt itself as the magician felt himself waking up somewhat, his memories anchoring his mind against the corruption.
The crowd began cheering wildly as Razorwing readied another arrow. The hero had quickly fled to the storage room, grabbed his gear, and raced back.
“Foul demon! Back to hell with you!”
The archer quickly fired another shot, hitting the demon in the foot as it launched itself toward him. He quickly dodged the demon as it flew through the hole, falling through and firing up at the beast as he flew back down to the stage.
Another arrow lodged itself in the brute as he flew down as well, the Koutu and the demon flying around the stage and each other as the demon fired magic, and Razorwing fired arrows in quick succession.
“Die, damn you! DIE!”
“I shall banish you first, demon!”
As the aerial battle continued, Eignach could feel just a spark of energy in him. Enough for one spell...
The demon slammed into Razorwing, sending the Koutu smashing into the wall. The archer groaned as he felt weak and sluggish.
“End of the line, ‘hero’.” The demon readied a blast of fire, and...
A sudden jolt of electricity stunned him. The spell was quite weak, but it distracted him just long enough for Razorwing to kick off of the wall, pull back on the drawstring, and...
The demon froze as an arrow lodged itself into his skull. The demon fell back down to earth, collapsing onto the stage as Razorwing landed gracefully beside him.
The crowd burst into wild celebration, cheering, screaming and clapping ferociously as Razorwing grinned. He took a moment to soak it all in before hopping off the stage and offering a hand to the fallen magician.
The male accepted the hand, their talons locking together as he was pulled up to his feet. “Oh, Razorwing...you saved me. You saved us all. You really are a hero...”
“Nonsense, good magician! Your little stunt at the end there saved ME! And for that...”
Razorwing pulled Eignach forward until the young man’s beak touched his own, a typical display of Koutu fondness and love.
“...I thank you.”
The young magician swooned, collapsing into the hero’s arms. Razorwing couldn’t help but chuckle at the fainted birdman, surrounded by cheering fans and feeling ecstatic relief.
“Oh, Eignach...whatever am I going to do with you?”
This was a LOT of fun to write! I really love Razorwing’s showy but still loving nature, and the whole “play gone too far” was an excellent dynamic.

@valyriansword and I have been talking about TLJ and it’s been the most rewarding/validating conversation and I’M SO GRATEFUL to have someone who is able to express how they feel (AND HOW I ALSO FEEL) so articulately. I’m just so excited because walking out of that theater was such a conflicting experience and I didn’t know how I felt or how I was supposed to feel or what to make of what I’d just seen, but I feel more at “peace” after discussing so thoroughly the film’s high and low points. I’ve also just come back from seeing the film for a second time and feel that I’m better able to express a lot of my thoughts.
So with all of that being said, SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THINGS KATRINA SAID and then my own additions added on at the end (spoilers ahead):
“what I really disliked was the little “oh I feel the force” joke, mostly because it felt like I was seeing Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill fooling around then actual Rey and Luke. I don’t know, the humor did not work for during a lot of parts.” –This is something I echoed several times to different people after seeing the film, because there were a couple points in the film where the humor felt entirely misplaced and even inappropriate at times. The scene where Rey is meditating on the rock and thinks she is feeling the Force (when in actuality it is Luke waving a plant over her hand) was one of those scenes that felt overtly comical. I don’t appreciate humor when it feels so forced. There were moments meant to be funny that simply did not feel genuine. Maybe the humor felt oddly placed at times because there wasn’t really time to properly laugh over it before the characters were moving on and were back into serious mode. The “reaction time” felt cut short, in a sense, and I’ve never seen that happen in a film before.
“Yeah the pulling her [Rey] around the room stuff was weird. He [Snoke] was the most one-dimensional character in TFA but I liked him so much better back then? I liked how mysterious he was? But here he was SUCH a twirling-mustache villain in this movie, and he talked way too much. Actually, everyone in this movie talked too much. what made TFA so great was the subtext, the things /not/ said, like the interrogation room scene, peppered with so many ambiguous moments “don’t be afraid I feel it too” “I see it, I see the island”…so ripe with tension because of that, and so magical. But this movie kinda broke the fourth wall a few times and was very self-aware and I was not a fan of that.” –I firstly wanted to address Snoke, because I agree full-heartedly with what Katrina said about him being such a mustache-twirly villain in TLJ. He was mysterious in The Force Awakens, and while I don’t think anyone really liked him much in TFA, he was, at least, much more threatening and scary than he ever was in TLJ; I think there was some initial disappoint in seeing him in non-hologram form—before, he was only this crackly, large shadow figure. Now we’re seeing him in all of his full glory, and not only is he wearing this sparkly, gold bathrobe, (which: what the FUCK?) but he’s talking way too much. The speech he delivers moments before he is killed probably bothers me more than anything else he said. He goes on and on about how he sees everything, that nothing surprises him… and then is killed by the lightsaber sitting next to him. It was too easy. I also thought him pulling Rey around the room was very strange, perhaps it was the way it was filmed, but there was just something off about it to me.
About characters saying too much—I’ve never agreed with a comment more. There was so much dialogue that was just flat-out bad, so many moments that felt so strangely out of character. I think my biggest grievance with the dialogue was that a lot of it felt so circular. (The whole film felt circular, but I’ll save that for later) in that it never actually accomplishes anything or establishes a theme that we didn’t already know. Certainly the most revealing dialogue came from Kylo and Rey’s shared moments. But I’m still scratching my head over some of the dialogue between Rey and Luke, and the scene on Ahch-to where we’re led to believe that Rey’s parentage is about to be revealed, and then… isn’t. What was the point of the multiple reflections of Reys? Even the moment between Yoda and Luke wasn’t as impactful as it could have been—the piss-poor dialogue being the causative factor, in my opinion.
There are several other moments where I wished the actors had been given the ability to just act—this is one of the most talented ensembles of actors in a single film, and their freedoms to do what they do best have been stripped from them, and they’re instead forced to spout all this useless dialogue that doesn’t really advance the plot, and that doesn’t reveal to us anything we don’t already know.
Yoda’s speech wasn’t all bad—what he said about failing to teach your failures, and how that can be just as harmful as hiding them completely was very poignant, I thought.
“Rian just seemed weirdly obsessed with the Resistance storyline when it was a much simpler, off-to-the-side thing before. I came in ready to see a movie about Rey’s growth as a person, learning the ways of the force, learning about balance, having mixed feelings about Kylo. instead it was more like… “you’re a MONSTER… but I forgive you and I want to save you and I’ll recklessly give myself up to the first order just to be with you, baby” which. was so. out of character. I had way more issues with that than with the force bond itself. And then the rest of the movie was a cheesy story about how heroic the resistance is and a tiny subplot about Rey bickering with retired Luke. Who apparently disconnected from the force but then reconnected with no issues?” –I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: there was no forward momentum in this film, no real advancement in the plot beyond what happens to Kylo, and I’m so baffled as to why. The Resistance spent the entire film running away from the First Order (all on the premise that their fuel supply was running low, which… what???), a storyline that could have been effectively told in under 15 minutes.
I’m also crushed by what was done with Finn. Such a central character in TFA, in TLJ, he was reduced to completing some side quest that ended up having no relevance to the film. And why the fuck did Rey and Finn NEVER EVEN SPEAK? They hugged, yes, but the fact that no dialogue was shared between them practically kills me. If Poe and Rey can share a split-second of dialogue, surely that same courtesy could have been extended to Finn and Rey, who share one of the most beautiful friendships in the Star Wars universe.
Katrina pointed out something else that I would have loved to of seen, which is more of an internal struggle within Rey, specifically her growth as a Jedi, and my desire to see more conflict between her and the Dark side. There was so much conflict driving her in TFA, and in TLJ it felt as if her conflict was presented and then solved within an hour into the film, tied off with a neat little bow on top, and that was that. I just feel very sad for her character. I wanted more for her story.
As for Luke, which I’ll get to more in a minute—it goes without saying that I am sad about what became of him in this film as well, everything from his portrayal to his subsequent death. (Which, by the way: WHY MUST THIS NEW TRILOGY KILL OFF EVERY SINGLE TRIO MEMBER FROM THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY. W H Y.)
“Yeah Luke was extra and I feel like that Fashion statement was the only truly in-character moment for him. I feel like they did not do him justice, certainly not enough justice for him to be offed in the end like that. It’s weird because with Han I felt his death so, so deeply, even when I didn’t know anything about him, but with Luke I was just way too “the FUCK” to really react emotionally.” –This is exactly how I felt about Luke’s death, which was so jarring in a way that’s difficult to even put into words. Luke deserved a proper burial, something commemorative, something honorable, something more than just a split second scene of him disintegrating into dust, and his Jedi robe mystically blowing off into the wind. Darth Vader got a proper burial, it just stands to reason that Luke should have gotten one too. I felt like I’d been robbed of the moment to properly mourn Luke’s loss, Luke—the character who is arguably the centerfold for the entire Star Wars universe.
Some of my other grievances include whatever the fuck that casino scene/subplot was supposed to be, which was just so messy and jarring inside the Star Wars universe that I didn’t feel like I was watching a Star Wars film at all. I hate admitting to experiencing boredom in a Star Wars film, but both times I’ve watched that scene, I found my thoughts drifting to ways they could have better utilized that time and space in the film. It’s such a tragedy to me.
Another thing that I strongly disliked—and I wasn’t able to put my finger on this until the second viewing—but some of the transitions are so poorly done, I couldn’t help but notice how much they stand out, and not in a good way. There’s something very clunky and awkward about how the scenes cut from one to the next, it doesn’t feel smooth and organic like in TFA. I felt as if I was being tugged from one storyline/set of characters to the next and then back again, leaving me with a sensation that felt almost like whiplash.
Which brings me to my final point, which is that TLJ is simply not a cohesive film within the Star Wars universe. It doesn’t feel like a Star Wars film to me, and that perhaps is what saddens me more than anything else. I know a lot of fans criticized J.J. for what they assumed to be his apparent lack of imagination, or his lack of risk-taking within the Star Wars universe when it came to TFA, but what I appreciated were his subtle nods to the previous SW films, I appreciate him reinventing the Star Wars universe while still maintaining the feel and tone of the previous films. It felt honorary and appropriate.
To me, TLJ falls into a pitfall that I’ve seen too many times before, which is that it is extremely difficult to carry on a story and trilogy of films that is cohesive when you have different directors overseeing them. Regardless of the decisions that were already predetermined at the time that the plans for this new trilogy were mapped out, there’s no doubt that the director oversees and greatly affects the overall tone and feel of the film.
And look, this isn’t a totally awful film—I think we can all agree, collectively, that while the prequels are pretty bad, we like them because they’re Star Wars films, because we grew up watching them and there’s a pretty strong sense of nostalgia we’ve tacked onto them. Maybe in some years’ time, The Last Jedi will acquire that same sense of nostalgia. One can only hope.
#Star Wars#The Last Jedi#spoilers#don't want this to wind up in the SW tags but do wanna have my bases covered so I don't spoil anybody#was going to talk about all the high points and the things I loved but this is almost 2k so like...#maybe in a separate post#there are lots of things I Loved#namely Adam Driver's incredible performance

Congratulations Taylor you’ve been accepted to Crimson Revolt as Natalie Dupont
↳ please refer to our character checklist
Your applications are always an absolute delight to read so full of beautiful characterizations and this one was no different you breathed life into Natalie with your words and I could see her shape and form as I read your app. I’ve always loved Natalie because there’s something about a Hufflepuff Death Eater that I find absolutely fascinating and not only did the character justice, but you made me love her more. I adore how in-depth you explored her history and her family. It truly paints a picture not only for how you’ll portray her but how she came to be the person that she is. I cannot wait to see her on the dash as you explore her further. *your faceclaim change has been accepted*
application beneath the cut
OUT OF CHARACTER
INTRODUCTION
Taylor, 19, female pronouns, good old EST (wow, that’s weird to say)
ACTIVITY
Depending on the number of threads I have going, time willing, I can usually stay about as consistent as I am on Marlene. So, replies typically get churned out consistently unless of course something is to come up.
HOW DID YOU FIND US?
Uh…it was Andromeda Black, I think. Something like that. But I’ve lived here over a year now.
WHAT HARRY POTTER CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH MOST?
Harry, actually. It’s always hard for me to pick because I connect to a lot of them, but he’s probably who I’m the most like.
ANYTHING ELSE?
It’s all high praise, honestly, and I do that enough as it is.
IN CHARACTER
DESIRED CHARACTER
Natalie Deserae Dupont
FACE CLAIM
Alisha Boe would be my first choice, otherwise Logan Browning or Ashleigh Murray
REASON FOR CHOSEN CHARACTER
It’s an interesting thing, isn’t it? A Death Eater from Hufflepuff, of all places. I mean, it definitely isn’t something that is ever explored in the canon verse, and not really in fanon much either. (Unless discuss TCC which. Just. Didn’t happen, moving on.) There’s a number of reasons that Natalie is fascinating to look at, and that’s really just scraping the surface.
I’ve come and gone through all the open bios a lot since I got to CRT. I’ll admit it, and be proud of it, and while Miss Dupont wasn’t one that immediately grabbed my attention, she’s always been there, in some way. And now that I’m really looking at her again I’m almost ashamed of myself for discounting her for so long, because honestly, there is nothing but potential here. The minute I really started to pay attention to her, she started to voice herself in my mind, only seeming to get louder and louder the longer I allowed it. And she won.
I see Natalie as having become an only child. She wasn’t always. There was a time when she had a brother, precisely nine months older than she herself, Declan. The Slytherin child, the heir to the family’s wealth, name, property, everything. He was bred to be a king while Natalie - sweet, clumsy, Hufflepuff claimed Natalie, was decidedly going to become a wife someday. And while there are many pureblood daughters (cough, Marlene, cough) who rebel from the legacy they’re being handed, Natalie welcomed it with open arms. She wanted to excel, to do what she was born to do. She could be strong and independent without turning inherently obnoxious and rebellious. By the age of fifteen, Natalie had proven herself, far beyond the - to her family - almost degrading sorting that had befallen her. She proved that Slytherin might help you on the way to greatness, but Hufflepuff taught loyalty and hard work were just as important as who you knew, and if who you knew was powerful, it reflected well on you to be known for withholding your end of things. Even if she never became the heir like Declan, she would have her own legacy, one her family was proud of.
And then, Declan died when Natalie was seventeen; she entered her final year at Hogwarts, and finally a true shift occurred. She had always been a ball of light energy, capable of pulling in whoever she wanted to, making friends easily. Losing her brother - an accident to which her family never disclosed the details of to her, never offered true closure - forced her to recede. All at once she was alone in the world, the sole heir to a name she was meant to share. Everything changed, in that moment. That was the year Natalie traded her bright jumpers and cheery disposition for black nail polish and isolation. The grieving process shone through her very appearance, and the obvious change was concerning, but she had become repellent. It was better to push people away, on the chance they were taken too. But she snapped out of it; the family business began to crumble, and she was forced to step up, once again.
When the Death Eaters came knocking, Natalie almost didn’t agree. She had heard enough of their stories to question if it was worth it. She believed in blood meaning something, having grown up plenty wealthy and an heiress in her own right, but this was different. This meant war, and that led her to wondering what Declan would do. And then she remembered. Remembered he was gone and there was nothing that could bring him back; and, if there was going to be war, she may as well be on the side that wanted to protect the world she had grown up in. And at first, she was reluctant. Reluctant to act for them, to do the things they wanted, but then she became obsessed. The power that Voldemort offered was new, refreshing, addicting. Something she wants more of.
The Hufflepuff identification and the fact that Natalie dons bright colors in most occasions made her one to be brushed off in meetings. She made it her mission to prove her worth.
PREFERRED SHIPS // CHARACTER SEXUALITY // GENDER & PRONOUNS
Natalie is asexual, demiromantic, but to her it’s all the same. There’s something about sex that just makes her squirm, even if she will end up having it to produce children someday. Besides, relationships should be to further bloodlines, right? Her friends can engage in anything else if they want, but she’s got better things to worry about than falling in love anytime soon, even if she’s a hopeless romantic at heart. But there’s really no time for that now, right?
CREATE ONE (OR MORE!) OF THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR CHARACTER:
Aesthetic
Dupont Family
Pinterest Board
-A PLAYLIST (which got a lot longer than I expected it to, but here we are)
Fairly Local - Twenty One Pilots What I shouldn’t do I will They say I’m emotional What I wanna save I kill Is that who I truly am? I truly don’t have a chance
Game of Survival - Ruelle There’s no surrender And there’s no escape Are we the hunter Or are we the prey
Into the Black - Chromatids The King is gone But he’s not forgotten This is the story of Johnny Rotten It’s better to burn out than it is to rust The King is gone but he’s not forgotten
R.I.P. 2 my youth - the neighbourhood Wrap me up in Chanel inside my coffin Might go to hell and there ain’t no stopping Might be a sinner and I might be a saint I’d like to be proud but somehow I’m ashamed
Prom Queen - Mary Kate Kosner And she lives her dreams in the magazines And her daddy’s gone, and she needs someone And she’s got the looks And the boys on hooks But she’d trade it all For a heart that’s whole
Gods and Monsters - Lana Del Rey In the land of gods and monsters I was an angel Living in the garden of evil Screwed up, scared, doing everything that I needed Shining like a fiery beacon
Also! I have a headcanon that Natalie has taken the mark, and she keeps it covered ironically. She wears bright sweaters almost always, and it seems an easy enough shield; with as easily as she makes friends, and as trustworthy as her appearance makes her look. Besides, nobody ever suspected the bright, cheery Hufflepuff, right?
IN CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
♔ If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it? Feel free to name it: “Oh gosh, I’m horrid with this sort of thing. But I suppose maybe a potion that makes your intentions known without Veritaserum. Not for me of course, but for others. It would save so much time.”
♔ You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one other character and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that you’d want with you: “I’d want someone like Bellatrix Lestrange, you know, tough and scary but like, in a good way. At least good for the people that admire them? Or maybe Emma. And I don’t know, I think I’d be alright with just my wand…hopefully.”
♔ What kinds of decisions are the most difficult for you to make? “Most decisions, actually. At least when I have time to think every possible outcome through, then I tend to overthink. I’d rather make decisions quick and then have to think about them later.”
♔ What is one thing you would never want said about you? “That I was weak. That I was a…disappointment to my family. That I let my brother down.”
REACTION TO LAST EVENT DROP
Honestly, Natalie is relieved; relieved that a Lestrange is now in the high chair in the Ministry, if for no other reason than the repercussions from the DE if that failed scares her. She was very likely involved in the attacks, whether at the Ministry or the hospital, if only just to prove herself. She’s becoming very lost in this war, and in the process becoming very power hungry and desperate for approval.
WRITING SAMPLE
Her heels chimed ominously against the dark floors. Rookwood walked swiftly in front of her, and another, someone she didn’t recognize – behind her. Wide, brown eyes glanced around the wide expanse of hallway, taking it all in. Voldemort did not trust her, nor did his followers, herding her like a sheep. It was fair, she guessed; a Hufflepuff, a Death Eater? Unheard of. But here it was, happening.
The hallway down which the trio walked, silence aside from the echo of Natalie’s shoes, seemed to stretch on for quite too long. She had grown up in a manor, of course, but it had taste, warmth. Lestrange manor was painfully dreary, the draft shooting which filled the space almost causing her flesh to rise in bumps, enough to make her small frame shiver. Feeling judgmental eyes, she resisted the urge to retreat into her shell; this wasn’t the time to show anything but pride.
A door creaked ominously in front of her. Yet another indication of how poorly their home was kept. Was this how Death Eaters were meant to live? Rookwood and his companion were watching her with the same bored, expectant expression now, and her hues flitted between them quickly. Straightening her shoulders, taking over the stride she had mastered years before – the one which exuded confidence, insight – Natalie stepped between them.
The room she stepped into was warmer than the hallway, to say the least. A bright, orange fire sparked life from a deep-set fireplace, a long table resting beside it. While the room was not crowded perse, Natalie recognized nearly everyone, various bored and amused eyes turning to watch her. To her own credit, the sight of Bellatrix Lestrange and Amycus Carrow did not cause her to falter. If anything, it only pulled the stance back to full, her cheerful, determined exterior hopefully not showing how scared she was.
And while she had not seen him yet, he was certainly there. Sitting at the head of the table silently, expectantly. No doubt waiting to see if the pretty you witch would run and flee, change her mind, or stay and prove them all wrong.
She wouldn’t.

@a-lil-bi-furious Okay, I’ve been out all day and haven’t been able to log on until now. It’s 6:00 PM where I live rn. I’m gonna start things off first by saying I appreciate the fact you are asking me this question instead of just straight up attacking me because everyone has diff opinions so thank you for that. Now secondly, I was still in my post episode haze from this week’s episode so I could’ve worded my post a little better.
I watched the episode again today and I have a much better and more level headed response to this than last night which I will post in a bit. But to answer your question, I don’t necessarily hate Landon but I don’t love him either so like I said before I could have worded it better. But what I do hate is the fact that his storyline is being dragged on and that everything is about Landon. The legacies writers introduced an interesting concept in the first season with Malivore and have Landon connected to it to give him a storyline but as soon as they brought the Malivore storyline in the second season and now the third, his storyline was being dragged too. We already explored Landon and all that. I want to focus on other characters too. Explore Mg’s or Kaleb’s past or even Jed because the writers can’t seem to give him a storyline or Raf too (I miss him). I want more of the trio cuz there’s a reason the show is called Legacies. But all I hear this season is Landon this, Landon that. “We have to save Landon” “I miss Landon” “Landon, Landon, Landon” even the episodes that he isn’t in...they still mention him and talk about him. I’m just getting tired of it and the fact the writers keep shoving Landon down our throats (in my opinion) it’s just gonna make me more annoyed than I already am and in turn make me hate anytime he’s on screen.
Also I can list a couple of things that Landon has done that makes me dislike him besides the fact that he’s on our screens too much like forcing MG to go back home and find his parents because of his own troubles with family and is projecting onto MG (that whole episode made me dislike him).
Also about the two things that you listed...
1) What Hope did in that episode was because of Landon and for the sake of Landon. I get it, Hope loves him and will do anything to get him back just like Klaus and everybody else but she crossed so many boundaries and put so many lives in danger for Landon. And before you start, throughout the show Landon always has to be saved by Hope. Like he waits for Hope to save him. Literally the necromancer called him out for that. So it has been solidified for Hope that she is the savior in the relationship for any situation they find themselves in. Landon has told Hope that he hates how Hope makes him feel weak or can’t take care of himself when faced with monsters but he isn’t doing anything to prove that he isn’t just waiting for Hope to come up with a solution so Hope’s obsession with finding Landon in the prison world and hurting her friends is not only her fault (because she has a hero complex and feels the need to be protective over anyone she loves) but it’s also Landon’s (at least in my opinion).
2) I think I kinda explained this in the paragraphs above but just so I’m clear... Hope’s storyline is centralized around Landon and while that is bad writing on the writer’s part, I still dislike Landon for that because like I explained before, Hope feels that she always have to save Landon and she has protect her happiness which is Landon (which in my opinion is not the greatest way to think about the love of your life. Yes, she is allowed to want to protect Landon but at this point in MG’s words, Hope put “her happiness in Landon’s hands” instead of her own which is part of the reason why she so obsessed with finding him.)
I hope I explained this well? I respect your opinion and I agree with the things you have said too and you may not agree with me but at least I explained my opinion!
I wanna say something...
Look I liked Landon as a character in Season 1 and I didn’t mind him as much in Season 2 but after 8 episodes of this season...I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE LANDON. I didn’t mind him as much before because the show was still focused on Hope and the twins but as of recently the show has been all about Landon. Landon this...Landon that. SHUT THE HELL UP. Every single episode and plot line in the new season revolves around Landon and I’m getting sick of it. Hope has been obsessed with Landon ever since he “died” that she literally betrayed and manipulated her friends and made them scared into doing what she wanted to do to get Landon back.
Yes, I am aware that Klaus Mikaelson has also done these things and worse for his family and Hope is her father’s daughter but not like this. Hope was supposed to be different because she’s good.
And guess what, at the end of the episode we finally get Landon back. Yay. Can you guys hear my excitement. What pissed me off the most was the last scene. Josie and MG are leaving the school because of Hope’s actions and Lizzie has been betrayed by Hope and left alone at the school and all Hope could do was shrug and be like “I guess some people are mad at me for my actions, oh well. At least I have you. This is all I need” NO FUCKING APOLOGY?? NO NOTHING?? I’m PISSED. This isn’t the Hope that we came to love in Season 5 of The Originals and Season 1 of Legacies. I get the idea that sometimes things have to get worse before they get better, I get it you optimistic Hosies but I honestly can’t support the fact the Hope literally manipulated and gaslighted Josie into taking her magic back. That’s TOXIC. I CANT IM DONE WITH THIS GODDAMNED SHOW. CALL ME WHEN THEY FIND BETTER WRITERS.

Book Review: Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
Read on: July 12, 2017
Rating: 4.5 Stars
“It was an ending overlapped by a beginning, and it was thrilling and confounding, primal and terrifying, electric and delicious. It felt like falling in love.” This is such a beautiful book. I am honestly in awe of this fantastic world that Laini Taylor created, and I'm so sad to be leaving it, for now at least. So much happened in this third installment to the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, and I'm actually a little overwhelmed that I managed to finish this massive book. My actual rating for this one is actually more like a 4.5 for reasons I'll explain later, but overall this was a really, really great read! Dreams of Gods and Monsters starts off after the final events of Days of Blood and Starlight, with the seraphim invading Earth under the command of Jael. I expected that this book would be epic, as the characters would really be at war now, and it was! I loved the whole action-and-suspense aspect of this book, and was particularly curious to learn how the chimaera and Misbegotten would be able to join forces. I really liked that the two races were finally united against their greater foe! I'm still a fan of Karou as a character. I feel like she really grew stronger throughout this trilogy, and it is only in this book that I think she felt like she belonged with the chimaera. I admire her sense of responsibility when it comes to taking care of her brethren, and when it comes to ultimately bringing peace. As for Akiva, I'm afraid I still feel a bit 'meh' about him. I suppose this might be an unpopular opinion, but I just never felt like swooning over him. I like that he was able to persuade his Misbegotten siblings to work with the chimaera, and yes he does have those unusual, awesome powers, but I was pretty much put off by how dramatic and despairing he always seemed to be. In fact, one of the reasons I couldn't bring myself to give this a perfectly perfect rating is because of all the drama between Karou and Akiva. I wanted to ship them, but I was so annoyed with how the two of them were basically in the middle of a war, and yet pretty much all they could think about was wanting to touch, wanting to kiss, wanting to do it. I mean I get that they're in looooove, BUT COME ON keep it in your pants guys. You know who I did ship? Liraz and Ziri! I actually got shippable vibes from them even in Dreams of Blood and Starlight, and I'm glad that it kind of happened in this book! I really, really wish their relationship was expounded more though. Is it too late to ask for a Liraz and Ziri centered spin-off?? Even individually, I love love LOVE them both. Ziri is just such a pure soul and it broke my heart that he had to suffer so much in this book and the one before. It must have been torture to spend so much time being the Wolf, and he just carried so much on his shoulders. As for Liraz, I just love her character development! She used to be just all about killing and fighting, and then she eventually grew to care about others and their cause. I love that she got to be more confident in this book, but also showed more of her sensitive and cheery side. I can't help but smile every time I think about how she hates emotions, and yet by the end of the book she's both crying and laughing and contemplating being in love. I also love that it seems like Ziri brings out the light in her, and UGH THEY ARE JUST SO ADORABLE I LOVE THEM. Oh and I also love how Liraz bonded with the Shadows that Live! That's a badass trio right there. Another ship to ship is of course my faves, Zuzana and Mik! Honestly, my favorite parts of this book are those where Zuzana and Mik are. A lot of this book deals with some heavy stuff, but Zuzana and Mik made things funny and light. Zuzana is such a firecracker, and her obsession with cake and chocolate is so relatable. Mik is such a sweetheart, and I love how well he complements Zuzana. I also love how they got attached to the chimaera, mostly especially to Virko. And I really need a Be a Samurai shirt because of them! Despite this being the finale to a trilogy, I feel like there we A LOT of new characters and concepts introduced, which is probably part of why this book felt so overwhelming. I'm gonna be honest and say that, at first, the parts about Eliza were difficult for me to get through. I just thought that this introduction of a new character was a little late in the game, and I thought that I'd rather read about the angles and chimaera. That thing about her nightmares and the cult thing were intriguing, but just a tad bit confusing. Still, I grew to like her side of the story as the book went on, and of course she turned out to be a really important character who was basically the key to everything. Another addition to this book was the Stelians. I've mentioned how unimpressed I am about Akiva, but I've always been curious about his mother and the rest of the Stelians. It was really great to finally learn about who they are and what they do, though to be honest I was just befuddled over their concept of magic. Those terms like sirithar, anima, nithilam, anaka-something just left me like "WHAT???" Add all that to the history of the Fallen and the Faerers and such, it really made for a mind-boggling section of the book. I mean I think it was so creative of Laini to envision that kind of history for the angels, and yeah I did get how messed up everything became because of the magi's hubris, but again the mention of the Cataclysm and the All and whatnot was just so difficult to grasp at times. Plot-wise, this book was just so brilliant. There was a lot of mystery and a lot of revelations. I'm really surprised with how things turned out, and I love how everything was wrapped up so nicely at the end. Some things that really surprised me? Ziri's death. *sob* The fact that Liraz managed to save Ziri's soul. Yay! How Jael was "convinced" to return to earth. The whole scene with Jael arriving back at camp not knowing it was a trap. Mik and Zuze stealing Esther's wish-stash. Razgut ending up with Esther hahahah serves her right that traitorous Nazi. Eliza's true identity. The whole idea about them being the godstars! Man that was crazy! Oh and of course Zuzana and Mik and Eliza finding another portal into Eretz and taming a frickin stormhunter!!! See those two don't need to be samurai, they're already too awesome. Dreams of Gods and Monsters also had a lot of laughs, mostly because of Zuze and Mik, but it also had those heartwarming and heart-smashing moments! I jut love books that can make me both laugh and cry. I thought I would cry when Ziri died, but I didn't. Instead, I cried when Liraz said that she tried to save Ziri's soul in her canteen by singing to him. I mean, can you imagine that? SO TOUCHING. My eyes are leaking.
I'm very happy with how things ended! I like that Karou and Akiva's ending wasn't too happily perfect, and I kind of like how everything still seemed open to a lot of possibilities. The way things ended actually makes me hopeful that there might be more to this story in the future!?? I mean that great battle??? I WANT. I'm so sad to be leaving this world, but I'm pretty sure this'll be one of those that I'll revisit in the future!

Letter for Chocolate Box 2019
-
Hello, and welcome to my letter for Chocolate Box 2019! I hope this letter will give you a better picture of my likes and dislikes, and maybe a bit of inspiration. Thank you very much for considering writing for me!
For this exchange, I've requested fic only for the following fandoms:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) Dishonored Outlast Pyre Shoujo Kakumei Utena | Revolutionary Girl Utena
GENERAL
Likes: Humor; slice of life; character studies; fridge horror; normal horror; hijinks and shenanigans; action/adventure; angst; pining; missing moments; identity porn; porn with feelings; "Crouching Fool, Hidden Badass" trope; stuff where a character who is socially awkward or disrespected in one context is defended by their friends or team from another; canon-divergent AUs; fun/weird alternate setting AUs (superheroes, supernatural circus performers, cyborg werewolf biker gang, etc.); intense relationships between women, romantic or platonic.
DNW: Major character death, bestiality, or gratuitous gore/violence. Onscreen rape/non-con, suicide, cannibalism, or harm to animals (offscreen is fine). Unrequested identity headcanons.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (TV)
Buffy was one of my first fandoms and still holds a special place in my heart. I love the mix of comedy, action, and occasional darkness, as well as the intersection of real life and supernatural obstacles. I also enjoy the glimpses we got of alternate universes like the Wishverse.
Note: No comics canon, please.
Faith Lehane/Tara Maclay
I feel like Faith and Tara would have fiery, potentially explosive chemistry in a relationship context. I also just think they’re hot and would be hot together. Tara is dependable, nurturing, and stable, but not super interested in taking anyone’s bullshit; Faith is uniquely charismatic and vulnerable and attractive, but her lies and bravado are easy to see through if you have the right set of goggles on. They could have a lot of interesting tension and also a lot of fun.
Please feel free to AU it up for these two, canon-divergent or otherwise.
Tara Maclay/Willow Rosenberg
When first I viewed the series, I wasn’t sold on this pairing. Now, revisiting, I am. The darker aspects of the ship intrigue me, but so do the sweet and fluffy parts. Their love for each other can be destructive and obsessive, but also solid, life-affirming, and redemptive.
Prompt: AU -- Wishverse.
Prompt: Tara is resurrected post-Chosen -- now what?
Prompt: Tara moves away instead of dying, and she and Willow reunite at the crux of a crisis.
Prompt: Someone’s a werewolf. Maybe they all are.
DISHONORED
I’m super into Dishonored’s complex, vivid setting and characters, and the way it feels like anything could happen in Dunwall.
Billie Lurk | Meagan Foster & Vera Moray | Granny Rags
These two come from very different backgrounds, but both are drawn to the Void and live an underground life. I feel like Granny Rags could offer Billie a certain amount of knowledge and also serve as a warning. Or maybe just creep her out a bit.
Billie is familiar with Granny Rags, at least by reputation. Have they met at any point? Was there a strange encounter years ago in the slums? Does Billie run into Granny Rags while gathering information on a target? There’s a gap between the end of The Knife of Dunwall and Granny’s showdown with Slackjaw in the sewers -- provided Daud chooses to spare her, does Billie meet Granny on her way out?
Prompt: AU -- Granny Rags, not Daud, is the Marked person who takes Billie as her apprentice.
Billie Lurk | Meagan Foster/Jessamine Kaldwin
Okay, so, yeah -- this is a total crackship. I maintain that anything can happen in Dunwall. Fugue Feast? AU where Jessamine is kidnapped instead of assassinated? Random supernatural resurrection? Meeting in the Void as ghosts? I’d just like to see how these two interact.
Delilah Copperspoon/Lizzy Stride
This is sort of a crackship too, but not so much maybe, since they could potentially have met in canon several times.
Both characters are ambitious, independent, and charismatic or at least fairly charming; both lead formidable criminal enterprises. They both had shitty fathers. Lizzy seems to rely on bravado and zeal more than actual power sometimes, while Delilah is the real deal. I can see them getting pretty snarky with each other even if they’re working on a common goal.
Prompt: AU -- Delilah, not Daud, breaks Lizzy out of Coldridge Prison.
Prompt: AU -- Delilah captures and interrogates Lizzy before she attempts the painting ritual. Lizzy whump and eventual rescue are encouraged.
Prompt: Delilah is a prisoner aboard Lizzy’s boat.
Prompt: Post-resurrection but pre-DH2, Delilah pays Lizzy a visit.
Corvo Attano/Samuel Beechworth
Two words: loyalty kink. Even when Samuel believes Corvo’s a monster, he can’t bring himself to let him die.
I’d love a missing moment from canon or a future reunion for these two. Post-canon, Samuel might expect that low-chaos!Corvo is done with him and the Hound Pits and everything else, but he’s happily proven wrong. Or perhaps high-chaos!Corvo shows up bedraggled and horribly wounded and Samuel reluctantly takes care of him.
I’m also interested into exploring Samuel’s reaction to finding out that Corvo is Marked. He’s seen plenty of strange things at sea; how phased is he? How soon does he figure it out?
Something sweet and fluffy with an Emily cameo sounds lovely as well.
OUTLAST
This is likely my favorite horror game and in my top five games of all time. The atmosphere, the characters, the music... I love it. Please consider the DNW for gratuitous gore / violence lifted for this canon, as it kind of wouldn’t be what it is without that.
Father Martin Archimbaud & Richard Trager
Father Martin refers to Trager as “that secular lunatic”; Trager calls Father Martin “the bullshit priest.” What’s their history? They can’t have pulled this debate out of thin air in the twelve or so hours following Billy Hope’s lateral ascension when they were both alive.
Father Martin Archimbaud & The Twins
For a pair of knife-wielding naked cannibals, the Twins appear to hold Father Martin in unusually high esteem. What was their past in the asylum?
Miles Upshur/The Walrider
He’s an intrepid freelance reporter having the worst night of his life. It’s a swarm of nanobots that wants to turn his body into a factory. Does their relationship move from the initial shock of nonconsensual possession towards something lighter (a la Eddie Brock and Venom), or is it dark the whole way through?
Richard Trager/Miles Upshur
Trager canonically cuts off two of Miles’ fingers. Miles canonically finds Trager’s death hilarious. I shipped it last year, and I ship it still.
Please feel free to go as AU as you’d like for this.
PYRE
This game is fantastic. I enjoy pretty much everything about it, but what won my heart were the character interactions. Well, and the lore. And the music. And the thing where you can bump into other teams’ flying wagons -- I digress.
Big Bertrude & Volfred Sandalwood
I appreciate the warm friendship between these two. I love Bertrude’s kindness beneath her gruff exterior, her tricky sense of humor, and the fact that she seems unperturbed by life in the Downside or might even prefer it. (I also just love witches. The game had me at “bog-crone.”) Volfred has done much to deserve not only the loyalty of his allies, but their devotion. I’d like to know more about this pair’s shared past and potential future, and just to see them interacting more as well.
Rukey Greentail & Hedwyn & Jodariel
The original trio! Tell me more about how they teamed up, how they got along at first, adjusting to life on the Downside together or dealing with unusual problems, discussing their pasts, stargazing, their reactions to finding out about the Rites, future adventures above or below the surface... I like the idea of them all meeting up in a pub in the newly formed Union to share stories and rib each other about the old days.
Jodariel & Pamitha Theyn | Jodariel/Pamitha Theyn
So. Much. Tension. And for good reason! These two are near polar opposites so I’m always interested in seeing them find common ground, whether as friends or more.
What exactly did Pamitha say to Jodariel to get her to agree to work with her?
In a playthrough where Jodariel ascended before they had their big conciliation, how does their relationship change when Pamitha ascends and joins the revolution?
Prompt: Slowly developing camaraderie in the Downside.
Prompt: Jodariel and Pamitha run into one of the harps Jodariel spared all those years ago.
I’d absolutely love something tropey for these two -- undercover as a couple, Jodariel having to pretend that Pamitha seduced her over to another side for some scheme or whatever, undercover as guard and prisoner, huddling for warmth / wilderness survival.
The Nightwings & The Reader
The Reader’s temperament can be as variable as that of the player.
What do the Nightwings think of the Reader? How do they remember them? If the Reader makes the big spoilery choice at the end of the game and reaches a certain goal, how do their teammates think of them?
Prompt: The former Nightwings gather to swap memories of the Reader.
The Nightwings & Vagabond Girl
_ae is one of my favorite characters, and her backstory is heartbreaking. In contrast, her acceptance by the Nightwings and the flowering of her relationships with them, particularly Jodariel and Ti’Zo, is heartwarming. I’d love to see some domestic scenes of them just getting along, but something slightly darker or even fraught with peril is great too.
Prompt: The Vagabond Girl returns to her former home or is recognized by someone she used to know. They’re rude to her. The Nightwings spring to her defense.
Prompt: Ti’Zo and the Vagabond Girl rescue someone or several someones from behind enemy lines... by themselves!!
Prompt: Jodariel teaches the Vagabond Girl how to braid her hair, or do laundry, or fix a broken wheel, or overpower somebody who’s got her in a chokehold, or sing old songs Jodariel knew as a child.
Prompt: Bertrude enlists the Vagabond Girl in her latest effort to thwart Udmildhe.
Prompt: Pamitha, Rukey, and the Vagabond Girl get tipsy and decide to steal another blackwagon’s lantern.
SHOUJO KAKUMEI UTENA | REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA
I love this anime dearly -- boxing kangaroos, Dorito faces, and all. As fanfiction goes, I’m fonder of works that adopt a surreal or fantastic tone.
Arisugawa Juri & Kaoru Miki & Kiryuu Nanami
I’m quite fond of the unlikely friendship between these three and the quiet but nonetheless symbolism-laden moments they share together. They all have a metric shit-ton of issues, but I don’t think any of them exacerbate those issues in each other. A missing moment from canon would be lovely to read about, but so would an exploration of something a bit less canon -- banding together against a zombie apocalypse, for example, or piloting a spacecraft, or playing a battle of the bands. Maybe the Student Council is required by contract to take some sort of retreat or perform a weird bureaucratic ritual. Maybe there is a fad for self-propelling bicycles on campus and it gets out of hand and they have to deal with that. Maybe they just have a nice picnic and enjoy themselves. There are many options.
Kiryuu Nanami & Kiryuu Touga
Hoooo boy, now this is a messed up sibling relationship! I’d enjoy seeing them reconcile or undergo some kind of trial together. Alternately, an exploration of their dynamic before or during canon would not go amiss. Post-canon, though, how do Nanami and Touga understand each other? I’d prefer that neither character takes the path of villainy.
Funny and tropey stuff is highly encouraged, as is Touga finding a real way to apologize to Nanami for the Akiomobile stuff.
Himemiya Anthy/Ohtori Kanae
Now this is a messed up non-sibling relationship. How did Kanae fall into Anthy and Akio’s orbit? Why and how much does Anthy hate her? What is their relationship before and after canon?
Two years ago, I received an absolutely gorgeous piece of fanart based on this post. The image seems to have been deleted from AO3, but trust me, it was lovely. I would definitely be interested in more regarding this headcanon of Kanae having been a previous dueling champion who chose Akio over Anthy.
Himemiya Anthy/Tenjou Utena
My OTP!!! Aiii, I’d be happy with almost anything for these two, provided that they actually see each other in person if it’s post-canon.
Prompt: Anthy arranges for Utena to fight a dragon.
Prompt: Utena or Anthy is briefly turned into a bear. The other is the only one who recognizes her. Everyone else is on high alert for bear attacks. At some point a honeycomb trap is rigged?
Prompt: Wedding day jitters, last-minute problems, and ultimately joy.
Prompt: Utena tries to make Anthy’s birthday special. Keyword: tries.
Prompt: AU -- Utena is an enthusiastic but inept barista; Anthy is her favorite customer.
Prompt: AU -- SUPERHEROES. I’ve seen this suggested before, I believe by dreamwidth / ao3 user panny, and I LOVE IT.
Prompt: AU -- Utena is sent to rescue a maiden from a terrible serpent, but when she arrives she finds Medusa!Anthy.
Prompt: Their first Christmas together.
