Lego Monkie Kid, Mekakucity Actors AU, Who Would Be Who

Bc I've had this AU plaguing my mind for AGES, and I need to get it out and for it to plague other peoples' minds. Not a Huge Deep Dive, but just a list of who in LMK would be in the role of what Mekaku character. All of these choices are based off vibes, what makes most sense, and what hurts me the most emotionally.

Aaaaand, I have no clue who to have be in the role of Hibiya and Hiyori in this AU. I could possibly have Nezha be Hibiya, but GOD do i fucking hate the Western side of the fandom's insistence on saying Nezha is eternally 11/12, when that's absolutely wrong. If anyone who's into both LMK and KagePro has any ideas of who could be Hibiya and Hiyori, by all means give me suggestions.

Im going to ramble, this is just my opinion

I made a post somewhere about why I dislike Seto x Marry and the main reason is because it would imply Marry is a higher priority to Seto than his family because she's his girlfriend and not because she's needs the extra support/Seto is generally emotionally mature.

Someone said they ppl really do prioritize their girlfriends over their siblings and while I don't necessarily disagree, I think in the case of the mekakushi trio, it's an exception because their relationship doesn't seem to be traditional siblings, but closer.

My point is I find it very difficult to believe that if Seto, Kano, and Kido didn't happen to become legal family, they wouldn't be found family anyway. Like theyre interrelated in more ways than one, both fundamentally and personally. Fundamentally in the sense they all have eye abilities, and personally for the following reasons.

Just about everything about their childhood points the three of them as a trio from the start. They're assigned to the same room, they're all outcasted, their room is collectively referred to as "the monster house", specifically the collection of three of them. Their personalities bounce of each other, and they clearly stick together by choice from the start. Like Kido often got annoyed and mean to Seto and Kano, but why didn't she just try to find other friends?

Like, they're a trio. Like, between them and the rest of the gang, they're a subgroup within the group. Now, Marry is very distinctively an outliner. I don't mean this in a mean way per se, but you know. She's different from the rest of the gang, she's a medusa and has the queen snake, and over is 100 years old etc etc. like she inherently cannot connect with the tightknit trio in a fundamental sense the same way Seto, Kano, and Kido automatically connect with each other.

And of course, Seto, Kano, and Kido ARE family. But my point is theyre very distinctively (found) family, regardless whether or not theyre legally family. In other words, their dynamic oozed sibling/close knit vibes from the very beginning.

Regardless, the trio grew up together and share a sister (as in, Ayano) and further trauma of their new mom's death. In certain routes, (the second manga route namely) Marry IS a sister to the trio and Ayano so i do appreciate in certain routes Marry grows up with the trio too. But again, she's fundamentally 'different' and Marry and Seto connect with each other (as shown in Shounen Brave) more than Kido and Kano do with her. So my point is Seto, Kido, and Kano and nonetheless a distinct subgroup that excludes Marry. (Jeez, that sounded mean)

To be clear, yes, the mekakushi dan are very very close (family levels of close) to each other. But it'd be wrong to say some of them aren't as close as others to certain people. It's hardly a drastic difference (or I'd like to think so anyway lol) but I find it hard to believe Seto wouldnt be at least mildly closer to his siblings than Marry.

Anyway I rambled. I'll paste the original post I made I'm referring to

Why I Dislike Seto X Marry

So this isn't meant to be a dogmatic or aggressive post at all! Just a friendly and civil debate at most! This is just my opinion, that's what I'm trying to say :)

So yeah, I dislike Seto x Marry and... TL;DR: it's mainly because it trivializes their friendship. That's probably not clear so I'll explain.

1. Seto is depicted as a very emotionally mature, perceptive, empathetic kind of person. He wasn't like that as a kid so, logically, Seto has put in a lot of effort to better himself and become as emotionally intelligent as he is. And that can be proven by how gentle and caring he is to Marry.

However, if you're under the impression Marry and Seto are together, then it negates Seto's self-betterment because it's implying all of Seto's actions towards Marry that showcase his emotional maturity were influenced by romance and he might've not acted the same way if he didn't happen to have feelings for her.

In other words, Seto has put a lot of effort into bettering himself. To imply that some of his best showcases of it were based on feelings outside of his control contradicts his self-improvement and negates his integrity.

2. Seto is undeniably more active in Marry's life than Kido's or Kano's. To be more specific, we see him interact with Marry more often than Kido or Kano. For example, in the anime when Momo wakes up at the Mekakushi hideout and screams bloody murder, Seto immediately goes to make sure Marry is okay. Of course, you could argue it's because Marry (in this example, Marry literally collapsed but I'm talking generally) is sensitive and needs more support.

That kind of thing happens quite a few times. For another example, when the terrorist attack occurs: Seto gives more attention to Marry than his siblings. And it's true this can all be attributed to Marry needing the extra support and reassurance more than Kido or Kano. I mean, we always see Marry being sensitive and timid so ofc she's gonna need to be comforted more than Kano or Kido who are characteristically tough.

Going back to Seto generally being more active in Marry's life than Kido's and Kano's, Seto has always been depicted as a caring person. Seto has always been keyed up to have been a lot like Marry, especially in Shounen Brave and even Imagination Forest. So it's totally understandable for Seto to genuinely care about Marry's well-being and the well-being of anyone who isn't okay, such as Kano.

But, if Seto and Marry are together, then the vibe goes from "Seto wants to help out someone in need of help" to "Seto prioritizes his girlfriend over his family."

And, you know... given the family drama in the trio, it's pretty gross if Seto prioritizes A GIRLFRIEND over his remaining siblings. Marry being a higher priority because she's sensitive VS Marry being a higher priority because she's his girlfriend is... you know, a big difference. I know Seto x Marry doesn't automatically mean Seto gains that kind of thought process, but I prefer to disregard that possibility entirely. I like to think Seto helps out Marry because he's a nice person, not because he has an ulterior motive.

In other words, Seto x Marry implies Seto is more active in Marry's life than his remaining family's lives because of romance, and not because Seto is a genuinely nice person.

3. Also, technically Marry is like 140 while Seto is like 16. Not the most creative factor I guess but I figured I should mention it lol. Also, when Seto dies, won't Marry keep living and that'd be kinda sad for her… isn't that what created the daze lol. A human dating a medusa…

Me: So y'know the big KuroEne AU Route I have (and alt Route versions) where MaryEne team up against Saeru when they infiltrate into his lab?

One thing I thought about that would be interesting...

A possible new KuroEne AU Route idea.

What if Ayano is involved in this whole mess.

So it's the Best Girls ™️ trio against Saeru (and it takes place before MR2).

I bet Ayano and Mary had some falling out before...

And Ene tries to encourage them to resolve their relationship.

Like I just think that involving Ayano into the equation too would be really interesting especially if she and Takane knew each other prior.

F: She would have some personal beef with him 😭 Not even some, A LOT

F: Ayano did blame Mary one time for that accident...

It's understandable from her end

Usually Saeru uses Kenjirou's connections to garner resources for himself, before dumping his body to possess Konoha

But he's forced to possess Hibiya in MR2

Obviously, Saeru and Ayano have the most tense relationship cuz Saeru targets Ayano’s family and friends, while possessing her dad, Kenjirou (and planning to kill her friends and family/siblings, etc.)

Also I'm putting the chapter number cuz this helps me remember where stuff is

Me: Good god what if the 3 get backed into a corner, they're running out of time, Ene just runs off/splits off from the rest of the party and shuts them (her and Saeru) both alone in a room with him to stall him (via controlling the security systems). Like she creates a diversion and gets his attention on purpose.

F: She's taking one for the team again on this case 😭 I wonder how Ayano would react to this... And like what you said, Saeru would stay far away from the MekaDan if Ayano was alive, so KuroEne definitely meets in secret.

Me: YEAH cuz in the main KuroEne Route where MaryEne team up against Kuroha/Saeru, he pretends to be apart of the Mekakushi Dan initially and gains their trust by acting friendly, before killing everyone on August 15th (leaving only MaryEne alive on purpose)

Me: OH god yeah, in this potential alternate Route with Ayano too, Ayano would be like, "Wait, what are you...?" And then says, "STOP! TAKANE...!"

And Ene runs off or something.

And then Ayano says, "...I couldn't do anything right... I'm a failure of a big sister, and a friend... How could I let this happen?"

And Mary is just PRAYING that she doesn't feel Ene's snake return to her. Cuz Mary instantly feels when she absorbs an Eye Ability Snake if a member dies.

But Ayano tries to urge Mary to use the precious time Ene's bought them to continue searching

F: So they assumed that Ene is taking one for the team, thinking she'd be killed, since they don't know their relationship for this route 😭 Cuz Kuroha doesn’t make himself known to the MekaDan

F: What if it takes too long but Mary didn't feel a single snake returning...

Let's count, how many dirty jokes are we going to put into this AU—

Me: Tbh I don’t think they would want to split up to prevent them from getting singled out and cornered. They would stay near each other or at least be in the same surrounding vicinity) for safety reasons

An option I can see is that they go into separate but nearby rooms each time (so they stay in the same surrounding vicinity as each other)

So they can cover more ground and waste less time and hopefully so they can return to Ene right away

F: That's most likely

Me: Yeah cuz like. They probably want to reunite with Ene as soon as possible

F: But shit, she's taking her sweet, sweet time 😭

F: What if it takes too long, but Mary didn't feel a single snake returning...

Me:

Ayano: STOP! DON'T DO THIS, TAKANE...! If you confront him alone, you'll be... You'll be killed...! What will we do without you? Promise me you'll come back safe, please...!

Ene: Don't worry, I'll be fine... That's what friends are for, right? I have to do my part where it counts. Because I’m your precious friend, Ayano.

Mary: Ene's snake isn't... returning… I haven't... felt anything...? This means she’s still alive…

Ayano: (!)

Mary: Thank goodness...

Ayano: ...She's still alive... Please...! Hold out just a bit more, we'll be on our way!

Me: Yeah the way Ayano and Ene, and Mary and Ene interact in my AUs are honestly pretty yuri. Which makes sense considering my sapphic side's yuri bias.

I would say that it’s up to interpretation here.

This is first and foremost a KuroEne AU, but whether you want to interpret Ene’s other relationships (that aren’t 9/6) as purely platonic or shippy is up to you, since I also enjoy Takane/Ene’s multiships.

If KuroEne (and the 9/6 trio in general) didn't exist, I would be an AyaTaka/AyaEne and MaryEne main.

F: I feel like it would be too angsty 😭

Me: Yeah Ayano and Takane/Ene don't mind what happens to them, as long as Mary is still safe. They are the self-sacrificial type.

Me: YEAH IT WOULD BE WAY TOO ANGSTY...

I imagined that in my KuroEne AU Routes, Ayano and Mary are Takane/Ene's friends to make things less tense LMFAO. Cuz it’s just. OUCH.

Cuz despite everything, Ene still chooses Saeru Hebi

This mf is just proving himself right 😭 Ene chooses Saeru in scenarios where he brings himself into the picture (into Ene's life), even if other people love her, cuz he knows he can't be bested in terms of knowledge + his memories of her that allows him to know her better and more intimately than anyone else ever could

Yeah cuz Kuroha/Saeru has what NO ONE ELSE can match. The body, the face, the voice of a former love… And then his knowledge and memories of previous Routes. He remembers all those experiences, thus he knows how to satisfy his S/O’s desires better than anyone.

Me:

Kuroha: It doesn't matter if the little rabbit plays with you all. My victory is but guaranteed, anyways.

Kuroha: Ene fell into the temptation and decided to play the game with me...

Kuroha: Because this body, this face, this voice, and these memories, are irresistible to her.

F: YEAHHH. Also the door is locked, they can't open it in anyway-

Me: Yeah like they can't open it until Kuroha/Saeru does, or Ene herself does. And they obviously won't open it until after they're finished… their round of intimacy

F: Okay but, aftercare first at least, the bare minimum 🙄

F: “Because this body, this face, this voice, and these memories, are irresistible to her”

F: “Ene chooses Saeru no matter what because he knows her more intimately than anyone else”

Which made Ene believe that he's the only person that could understand/read her, and of course, develop attachment

Me: Yeahhh exactly. In this AU, he knows her better than anyone, even more than she knows herself. Which is true. Unlike the others, he remembers past timelines.

Me: Saeru would probably innerly note to himself that it's interesting (and expected, after all, it's just like her/in her nature to do) that Ene takes one for the team every single time they end up fighting against him.

Cuz of course both Ayano and Ene want to protect the Queen (Mary) as the (mentally) older ones. Ayano becomes Mary’s adoptive/foster older sister in MR2.

F: Which will become a very predictable pattern of Ene sacrificing herself just to able to give others more time, but he's the one willingly to follow that same pattern of falling for her bait sooooo

Me: YEAH and he can just... plan ahead the longer these Routes go on. He knows what to expect

I don't think Ene will bait him in this EXACT way every single time

She'll run out of things to say if she keeps stalling him via asking questions

I think she should have different ways to stall him too. I do think she understands the importance of thinking "outside the box" and trying to come up with new and interesting ways to stall him

But ngl I do think that baiting him via intentionally indulging in pleasures with him, would stall for the others. So Ig it's... reliable lmfao

But it's still not guaranteed cuz again he could just pull out a gun after they're done their intimacy

F: True, like he could just kill her at the end if he's bored, but this "stunt" occupies him for a bit

Me: RIGHT cuz like killing her won't do much anyways since it's nearing the end of the Route… Might as well indulge in pleasures with her before the world ends!

F: Yeah, Mary can just rewind, "All requirements are fullfilled, now I can just get handsy with wife heehee" ahh

Me: Yeah I imagine Ayano and Mary are still searching for answers. And Ene still has things she wants to ask him too. Because she's curious about his motives and reasons for doing... ALL OF THIS.

Me: Oh I feel like the moment Ayano finds those (Saeru’s files), then she would figure out that the person who gave Ene her android body is Saeru, and that they have probably been meeting in secret prior to all of this.

His files’ designs/sketches of her body are undeniable proof

Me: Oh I just realized. Ayano is probably gonna put two and two together that Saeru (in the body he's currently possessing) looks like Haruka.

I totally sympathize with Kido and not gonna lie, I would've reacted as badly if I were her too. Thank you for answering my question, I wonder how the reconciliation between the boys would gone if Kido was present too :0

I think Kido would come round eventually, but (in addition to a frankly owed apology) Ayano would really have to prove she's changed her mind about killing Marry and show that she's trustworthy. As Novel 7 revealed, Kido's been "burned" before by a family member trying to murder her and her sibling - so even if she's willfully blocked out that memory I think subconsciously she'd still have some misgivings.

Seto, on the other hand, may be the most protective of Marry herself - but possesses such a kind and gentle heart that I don't imagine he has it in him to hold deep grudges - as evidenced by the ease with which he did readily forgive Ayano after everything. Besides, if he didn't believe she was truly sorry or that her intentions were pure, he could always read her mind to be sure. But to him that's always a last resort and would likely rather give the benefit of the doubt.

Kano is the complicated case, I think, as it's always hard to tell exactly where his alliances lie. He's been heavily implied to be the one most enamored with Ayano, so for him to even reject her, I think it's more a matter of "not my nee-chan" than it is out of sole desire to defend Marry, as he has less reason to be loyal to the latter. Like Kido, he also has a history of being betrayed by older familial figures who were supposed to nurture and care for him - hell, he still loved his mom despite all the abuse - and it's only thanks to meeting those similar to him (Kido and Seto) that he's able to open up and recognize a toxic relationship, so he will side with his own "kind" even over his "crush".  If the other two do agree to trust her again, then he’ll likely follow their lead.
